BTC
How will I know my miner has found something?
Money appears in your wallet.

I am trying to follow the directions to set up my S9. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to do so? I am not following page 1 instructions.
With regards to "enter wallet address for user name", on an S9 is that worker name?
Thanks?

You need a btc address.

pool            =  solo.ckpool.org:3333
miner name = 3NwurtiKe8GrpVdZGYEESY5N1DQqUboQWz
password    =  x

after about ten minutes you can check it here
https://solo.ckpool.org/users/3NwurtiKe8GrpVdZGYEESY5N1DQqUboQWz

BTW if you use the address above you are not mining for your self.

Do you have a btc address you control?

if you do use that address.

if you do not have an address under your control then get one.

Hmmm how big is the room?

It is an interesting problem since the room is sealed  and there is no effort to do a true cold /hot set of aisles.

How much power do the ac units pull. You have a downclock option if too hot in the peak temps.

I allow some mixing of hot and cold aisles it actually is okay to mix the aisles a bit.

In your case you want the two aisles to mix because the room is sealed.

so if you have perfectly separated hot cold aisles the hot aisle will over heat.

worst case I see is you may need 1 split near hot aisle and space the m30s to let air mix.

bigger the room the better.

Hey buddy, no more than three in a row, we agreed didn't we

Phil, are you sleeping or what? Tongue

He was going to Six Flags for a flavours of the world tour so he's probably in a food coma.  I'll be on one shortly after a Canada day BBQ with the family.  Too.  Much.  Food.

Too much smoke in the air. Asthma acted up. I ended up doing some software builds of btc nodes and distribution of coins for the mining partners which takes forever due to shitcoinery

I owned three kias. So I could be kiakiakia.

A lot depends on the seller. I live in NJ. I have a seller repair guy he lives in Roslyn NY.

I can drive to his business pick the gear up and he will repair any bad gear I have. So if you can do that

you should buy from A guy like that.

But buying from ebay is meh.
3827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Going to build a new node. on: July 01, 2023, 04:09:50 AM
I have a hard ssd/hdd cloning machine.

The argument would be that the first drive dies while cloning it on my cloning machine.

The machine is stand alone and on an ups it is super reliable. It will also do a compare after the actual clone.

The reason I am doing this is I no longer want my trezor to be my main storage device.

I have 3 dell 7060  one will be an active node

One  will be a cold wallet

the third will be  a pc back up for either  node.

I have a good set of places to store  two of these pc's and a separate place to store the back up drives.

Gentlemen,

are you ready for some fresh offtopic content?
However, here we go:

IC 5070, aka. Pelican Nebula.
2 hours of data, including a few thin clouds crossing the viewport, which make the brighter stars look softer in the end.
I added an infrared filter to the camera, compared to the old, IR-rich photographs, structures now look sharper and more detailed.

But where is my flat earth in all that?  Roll Eyes
3829  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to set up asic miner electrically on: June 30, 2023, 11:10:34 PM
I bought an Antminer E9 Pro. I currently only have 1 dedicated outlet. The outlet is an L6-20r. What do I need to get to hook this baby up? I can't seem to find a pdu that has an L6-20p with built in surge protection.

if you are in the USA.

buy this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/155204919329?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/334394491902?

surge protection pdu's are costly and likely to not be needed.

it will be more important to protect your eth cables
3830  Other / Meta / Re: What does post quality really mean on: June 30, 2023, 07:54:04 PM
Alot of persons on this forum always advise newbies on post quality.my question is simple and on behalf of other newbies like my self is it necessary to monitor your activity and post count in comparison with your merits

Like does it mean  someone with and account say
Activity;50
Merit;87
Post;51

Has more quality post or is a better poster than someone with say
Activity;100
Merit;87
Posts;150

Those numbers don't mean much the percentage of posts merited is easily manipulated by someone looking to boost merit count for an alt account.

Your numbers below:

Activity: 9
Merit: 1
Posts: 10

With a few clicks I could give you 9 merits

and you would be at :

Activity: 9
Merit: 10
Posts: 10

Frankly I actually think your first post on this thread is a good post. As it points out that merit percentage for newer members can easily be boosted to 100%

Look at my numbers

Activity: 3808
Merit: 5915
Posts: 41904

6 out of 41 is a 14% merit percentage.

easy to jack up

but 5915/41904 is also 14% merit percentage.  And it is easy to see I will never get to 100% merit percentage.

Its also easy to see I do not need a merit (this can cost me merits).

If you have 4 merits to give and a newer guy has a old post and I have a good post  you may pick the newer guy.

I think your question could be seen as a good post as it is addressing merit percentage as a guide to good posters.

I also think my answer is a merit worthy.

In both cases we may not get any merits.

Just think about how many BTC that you might have had if you had been stacking in the last year gallianooo - rather than wishing for the BTC price to drop below $10k?

Its everyone wish that price of bitcoin fall so that we can accumulate Bitcoin. But the reality is whenever price go down there is so much fear and panic that not many accumulate.

Right now everyone is wishing that Bitcoin may go down to 20k so that they can buy. Even if bitcoin go down to 20k in few days, these all desirous will start saying "stay away market is crashing".

It really need balls to buy bitcoin on DIP.

buying dip is easy if you are prepped.

I'm offended by people who are offended by words. Grow a thicker skin and enjoy freedom of speech, even for the people you disagree with.

I am offended by you being offended.  Grin Grin Not really.

Basically physical harm threats
Death threats.
I know where you live and will be looking for you statements. Are not allowed.

When I start a thread I always do moderated style and I personally will delete

“ fuck you blow me bitch style comments.”

I prefer less crude talk on my threads.

Also if I delete a post I quote it and say I don’t want f u blow me bitch type comments.

But I am old school. And like a bit of politness.

What is the benefit of pointing 20p to foundry Than nicehash? I think nicehash would remain the highest payout

Before April it was the fees, Foundry was not charging pool fees to large customers, I don't know how they made money but probably it was something the backers like DCG saw as an intelligent move to make it the largest pool.
Right now since we don't have any insiders we can't really compare payouts!

Room to grow, let's see if the summer heat bites more.

"The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) said power use reached a preliminary 80,828 megawatts (MW) at 6 p.m. CST,

Is this enough for 3,886 Exahash/s if we consider S19XpHydro? Or am I doing something wrong?

Well assume the 80,828,000 kwatts are hourly.
and a s19xp hydro uses 5.304 kwatts hourly
1 unit does 255th

so 80,828,000/5.304 = 15,239,064.85 units

I will round that down to 15,000,000 units due to cooling the gear.

1,000 x 255th = 255ph
10,000 x 255th = 2.55eh
100,000 x 255th = 25.5eh
1,000,000 x 255th = 255eh
15,000,000 x 255th = 3,825eh

You were close. You just forgot to allow for the cooling towers and pumps using some energy.
3836  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: The downside of using Nicehash and the likes of it. on: June 29, 2023, 04:30:54 PM
I point an L3+ to nicehash it earns 0.000044 btc a day or $1.32 in usd.

it burns 575 watts and uses 120 volts.

My basement/den is cold so it is a space heater. Ie the space heater is needed 24/7/365

and it is very quiet. My wife and I can watch tv with no sound issues.

Only the L3+ can do this

if you have any btc miner that will earn $1.32 a day in btc using only 575 watts an hour it needs to be about 18th.

a 1 board s17 can do that, but you must use 240 volts and the psu fans are loud.

people simply do not understand that nicehash has a purpose.

I would argue that the L3+ is a better btc miner than an s17pro.
But bitcointalk simply won't recognize this argument.

Hey I have flat earth friends.
I tell them I think they're wrong, but it is not my job to know the real world and what it is.

3838  Economy / Services / Re: Last Attempt Service (Clients) on: June 29, 2023, 02:04:33 PM
Not to complain but when I ran these I charged zero fees.

Also willi9974 charges no fee.

To get ⅓ of the profits if a block is hit is huge fee.

cost is 0.0333 for the players

so a 6.25 block - .12 fee for ck = 6.13 coins - 0.0333 = 6.0967 profit

and 6.0967 x 33% = 2.011911 coins

This is my understanding of what your fee would be.

Yeah generally I do not make my donations public. But this is an important service the forum needed it.

Many og people did a lot of nice free projects over the last 13 years.

This project is worthwhile. So I am supporting it.
