3841  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: mining guide on: December 04, 2015, 11:40:44 PM
okay i looked around and tried some guides but got no where this is why i need a brand new guide and specifically asked on here (don't mean to sound mad) but it would be very helpful  Smiley

Can you go into more detail?  What guide are you using please link to it.   What error are you getting?  We just need to know more.

You are going to have to try a few quite likely as I doubt anyone made a guide for Rosa.  If you used standard debain, or a RPI it would be pretty simple.   But its that variation of linux that most including I have not tried.
3842  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Home Network security issues on: December 04, 2015, 11:38:05 PM
Thanks guys, starting my rig after Christmas! Btw, the S5 would go in my furnace room and no one sleeps in the basement so it shouldn't be a big deal. Appreciate the help guys.

I doubt 1 S5 will make a huge difference, they do run hot and loud.  It's just their nature.   But if you grow I'm not sure if furnace room is greatest of room's.

Depends on how well it's insulated  i guess.  But normally with gear you keep it far away from sources of heat.  But again since talking 1.. can get away with it most likely.

Guess it depend how much air the furnace room move. If its stale, it would be very bad for miners.

Just a handful of S4 is like having a couples of oven turned on 24/7 with their oven door opened.

Very true it would depend I'm just basing it off my furnace room.  (I have never ran miners in it).  But if his has bad isulation and get's hot... yes it is not good.

But hes also using only one miner so not thousands of watts.  A handful of S4's is a lot more watts then 1 S5.   So had to tell.  But my first choice would not be a furnace room either.
3843  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Google Fiber and Full Bitcoin Nodes/Mining on: December 04, 2015, 10:47:47 PM
Hello everyone!  I'm getting my Google Fiber installed in the next few weeks and was wondering if there was anything I could do to help the Bitcoin community other than running a full node.  I've got an S7 that I'm mining with, that I'm thinking about going solo with. Will the extra bandwidth help with the solo mining? Thanks!

Not really I've been sitting on a gigabit connection for a few months. As far as mining it's not really needed.  You can run nodes but again... you could do that at normal broadband.

I hope someone comes up with a good idea.  I would love to make money off my extra bandwidth but it is not that easy.     There was a torrent client that paid out for seeding that was in beta.... but I did not join as I did not think torrents people are  paying for ... chances of it being legal vs  illegal is slim they are sharing something opens source, etc.  Other then that there has not been a lot.

I would love for someone to post some thing new if there is a new way to use fast connection's for bitcoin community or personal gain.  But I think it's still pretty slim chance it's changed.
3844  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: December 04, 2015, 10:42:55 PM
Ok ill admit i might have been a bit unfair since i don't have one, and after stepping back and taking a wider look i was a bit harsh. so let me regret my rash comment and try to rephrase.  I think the mining controller isn't useful because There are a lot of miners out there.  Now i cant blame them for encouraging their own products, but it seems unwise to not include wider range of support, even if it's just the U1 and 2.  I also find advertising it locked in solo mode (from what i have seen) a bad move because for a product that is (i'm assuming) marketed towards people just starting, and many of them might not be willing to configure it.  It seems some people seem to want a device that can be plunged in and left, which doesn't exist yet.  Although, most of these issues can be fixed with research and tinkering, and pose no problem to a more experienced miner.  As for the unfinished features, i have to give them props for trying to fit as much as they can, like more companies should.  But it seems that some of these things ,like the mining controller could have been improved from a bit more work.  This miner might work for other people, but for me it wouldn't be worth it.  I enjoy tinkering with my miners, and ill keep trying to find a reason to water cool them, even if it's just for the coolness factor.  I find this worth the pocket change i lose a year.  But i have no idea what i'm talking about, i'm just some guy messing around trying to put water blocks on things that already run cold.

The thing is if you do pool.. not solo its so small you will never recoop cost.  Solo is meant to be fun even though getting ROI still is almost 0.  But pool mining is just a waste on these machines.

Also if you use firmare like crazyguy's it's not locked.  You can change it to anything you want.   I think this is a case of if you had one and used it... you might have a better grasp.  I don't mean that in a mean way just that it's hard to judge a product only on words.
3845  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: December 04, 2015, 09:22:08 PM
I think there are a few legit ones like genesis miningsweden and hashnest

There are a few legit ones out there.  Yes it is true.  I would have a perfect record if it was not for gaw... but I got scammed once.  But live and learn. It can also happen in hardware to though.  I used paypal to buy a terrahash miner long long ago when they never did live up to promises I was able to get money from paypal.  That company ran with many peoples money.

So there are good and bad in cloud or hardware.  Just make sure to research any investment before sending money.  And if it seems to good to be true avoid it.
3846  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: December 04, 2015, 09:13:15 PM
Where can we buy this avalon 6 miner ? Avalon 6 or S7 which one is smarter for home mining?

This thread really is not a Avalon 6 VS S7 thread.  That is a entire different debate this thread is more to help with Avalon 6.  But if you want the debate between the two look over here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1195199.0 It's a good back/forth debate between the two.    So use that thread if looking for debating best as it is a never ending debate.

But as far as buying the two official are listed on front page.  BlockC for most everyone, and Ehash for China markets.   There are re-sellers though they buy in bulk and sell in lower quanities.

I suggest looking through the thread you will find at least 2 re-sellers, and get a little bit about them by reading what they post.  But please read the thread Smiley you cant post on last page and ask for all info Smiley.
3847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: December 04, 2015, 09:07:15 PM
Although something like this is a bit ridiculous.  Its locked into solo mode, the mining controller sucks, and seems unfinished.  They tried to cram too much into this little thing, and seriously, it only supports the U3.  Maybe i would consider this later in time when it has been refined. But for now, ill stick to losing money with my U2.

So you think it is ridiculous? Do you own one, have you used one? Yes it comes set to Antpool but if you read the thread you will see several ways of unlocking it and pointing it wherever you want.

Why does the mining Controller Suck & seem unfinished, from what I have seen it works with no problems, please explain what you mean?

What is wrong with cramming a lot of functionality into a device, most people would regard that as a benefit? Then on the one hand you are criticising how much has been crammed in and then in the next breath bemoaning the fact that it only supports a U3?

Seems a bit rich that you prefer a loss making U2 over a device that as well as it's many other features can actually mine profitably.

Rich

Considering antpage I think there is a decent amount of them in here who have not used them.   Just is a very limited group.

I think it was a neat idea a little weak as far as internal mining chip.... but a nice new toy.  Add crazyguy custom firmware and 3 U3's it's become a useful lotto device for me.   So I have used it and I do like it.

But I can see why they would focus on S7 vs tons of little miners.  Not near as  much money here on sales I would guess I don't have any sales numbers on profit but S7 compared to R1 I'm guessing a huge difference in profit margins.

Could anyone speculate if bfgminer 5.4.1 will control this unit? It does show Avalon drivers:
http://screencast.com/t/suU6cR5wlc

I'm currently running Entware-ng (alternative to Optware for OpenWRT) on a ASUS RT-N66U router with an Antminer U2 connected to the back USB port. It works great with the serial silabs CP2101.ko driver. There is no cgminer, but the latest version of the bfgminer package is maintained by Entware-ng:
http://entware.zyxmon.org/binaries/mipsel/Packages.html

I'm thinking I could patch a USB cable from the router directly to the Avalon miner.

On the 4.1 I know a certain TPlink worked - https://ehash.com/product/tp-link-tl-wr703n-contrlloer-suite/ .  It was able to control the 4.1's.  I don't have one to test as far as using it for a 6.  So far they have just advertised the B and B+ RPI.

Which the RPI turns out to be a pretty good controller. Using one on 3 avalon 4.1's, and on an Avalon 6 and both working great.  I really like the RPI as a controller.

I just came across that site and thought it was to good to be true !!!!

What were you searching to come across it?  I'm curious did they buy ad's or something on search engine? Or show up elsewhere.

They should be getting no traffic so I find it interesting they still find people.   Curious how they got you to find them even.

I was searching Ebay for a Dragon/LKETC 1Th miner and i spotted it as a sponsored ad !!!!!!!!

(picture above)

That is crazy!  Thank you for posting I figured ad but I had no idea where they were buying space.

That is interesting that ebay it's showing up. Lots of newer BTC users look there for gear that is kinda scary.

Hi! My comapny can send you with invoice. Tell me what you want and I can give you a price. I give the same price as I get, but I can get a discount If I can buy bigger amount.

What is your company?  I don't see any mention of it in your posts or in profile.

OP if your reading still I might suggest escrow in this case.  Or actually most cases escrow is good unless very well known legiit store.
3852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: December 04, 2015, 06:58:11 PM
when I was a newbie I used to earn via cex.io.

cex.io now is awful they don't deliver anything good anymore, it was decent at the beginning maybe and nothing more

right now you will never roi with them, also they maintanace fee is fucking high, it will eat all your income basically
Most of the legit miners have played this game. They manipulate their maintenance fee in such a way that people can hardly get their investment out. From KNC cloud to CEX.io, which were backed by real miners, the story is the same.

There are a few good ones out there.  I do have a little in cloud, most of mine is hardware just as I love to tinker with them.  But I do a few trusted cloud sites with just a little.

It's only bit me once was with GAW.  I got greedy believing in them, and I lost a little.  But was a good learning expirence they are part of reason I wont invest in a cloud I don't know has hardware. I don't ever care to have anything like a hashlet or whatever in my life again.  I stick with legit cloud mining that is verified in my mind at this point.

Even I am not perfect.

GAW seemed legit at first. I guess everything is not for certain.

They were at first... but they got greedy and started selling digital miners with nothing behind them.  I will never get what I lost back.... but at least I think there is jail-time coming - http://www.coindesk.com/gaw-faces-ponzi-scheme-charges-from-sec/

And this is why you should not go all in one place.  Have multiple investments not one big one.  I was lucky I did not go crazy and dump it all in when it looked great.  I trust a few cloud mining operations but it is very few.
3853  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn Bitcoins fast and free?? on: December 04, 2015, 06:54:50 PM
free, i think we cant get fast btc with free
but at least we can claim btc free via faucet or some giveaway and surely it’s free Smiley

Faucets pay to little for your time.  They really are not free you put time in and electricity for computer.  Your using more electricity then you get off faucets.  Your losing money.

Look for better options.   Honestly faucets will teach you very little and get you nowhere.
3854  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners should Start a Union on: December 04, 2015, 06:51:58 PM
I hope this is a joke, it would never work, while others go on strike or refuse to sell coins until lets say 500$ btc someone will gladly sell anonymously for 450$ all day long.

It is laughable that some that a few post's above we see someone act like people are still giving good ideas about a bitcoin union.  At least I know I'm not alone now on it being so stupid it has to be joke or something like it.

A union with no one to bargain with... not going to work.  Only way is if they had a monopoly on amount of BTC made and could control only sell so many where price rised to an amount.... but this would destroy bitcoin as then 1 has to much control.

I hope within a few day's it truly does die as a thread.
3855  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Advice on setting up a personnal farm on: December 04, 2015, 06:46:20 PM
Honestly man I wouldn't even bother with mining. In this day and age ROI is pretty shit and you're likely not to make anything by time you factor in electricity and whatnot. Mining isn't a game for consumers anymore but for large corporation that have centralized the BTC mining POW.

Honestly better just to buy BTC and invest them somewhere.

Curious, what is your idea of a sound BTC investment? Gambling or signature campaigns?

Gambling is a horrible idea it's not a investment.  It's something you might enjoy if your a gambler but in no way is it an investment.

Signature campaigns are kinda a bonus.  Just post normal and you get a little extra coin for posting which is nice.

But neither of the two things mentioned above are investments.   For what it's worth I think mining still has some life in it.  Just is longer ROI and harder then it once was hen 3 month ROI was normal.

Would not have noticed this one if not for a stupid comment about robbing bank as a joke on quick cash.    But look into the following:

User: zodiac3011 - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=221888
Posts: I have never seen one like this.  Currently entire first page of posts every single one is one line post.  And some very small to - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=221888;sa=showPosts

Others can chime in what they think.  I thought it might be a candidate for this yobit thread.
3857  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the safest and simplest way to keep bitcoins? on: December 04, 2015, 03:35:53 PM
IMO the safest way to keep bitcoins is multiple paper wallets stored in safe locations like multiple bank vaults, the possibility of your funds being compromised is minimal since even if a bank is robbed the possibility of your codes being used before you use another copy to load them and send them away is relatively small, Hardware wallets are very expensive IMO and have the same vulnerabilities as saving your BTC in a computer.

Hardware is pretty hard to beat as far as safe storage that you can really access.  Paper wallet is a good option aswell if done right.

One thing I would do is not have a paperwallet with bitcoin all over it.  I would photoshop it or edit it somehow and put something like 'Link to family vacation 2014".... something a thief would care less about.

Keep some in hot storage in case you need it.  But by far make sure majority is in cold wallet or hardware wallet.

Hey guys, we'll be transitioning to blocktrail's API (or blockr.io's) soon.

I'll have payments out to everyone no later than Friday (hopefully much sooner), with a 10% bonus to everyone that is due a payment from a week+ ago.

Will we be sent a PM after payment? Or should we be checking BTC account?

Thanks again for going to catch it up. And specifically for bonus on the late ones, very nice thing to do.   Just wondering if it is still planned for today.

*Edit I deleted 2 responses.  I thought someone as saying I was new joining, I read it wrong. So deleted posts as it was clutter from me reading wrong.  I should have not assumed.
3859  Other / Meta / Re: Should Fwdxwlsh Be Banned? on: December 04, 2015, 03:29:59 PM
Ban him already, like you would anyone else. He's rebumped this thread 20x now, in far, far more regular intervals than 24 hours. Last was 11pm my local, now again 11am. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1263542.msg13142669#new

I think it's going to come to this as I think it's someone trolling.  I would be interested in knowing who the main account is.  I just don't see this person being as new as account is.

He also used massive font... then when mod's fixed it went to using massively small font. It's someone wasting time of everyone reading the threads.   I'm surprised he has not been banned yet, I think it will happen if he does not change patterns on postings.
3860  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners should Start a Union on: December 04, 2015, 03:22:46 PM
Miners starting a union, that'd be an interesting feat.

What are you going to do, stop mining?

I'm not sure how exactly you'd expect to pull something like this, since there isn't much you can argue against in a decentralized monetary system lol

Good luck with your union and strikes  Grin

I sometimes wonder why some threads do not die.  You can not have a mining union... it's that simple.  Union bargain with someone, btc controlled by open market no boss or company to bargain with.

You would have to own enough of the BTC mining to fix prices... which would be bad in long run.  If someone as fixing prices chances are BTC would take a dive in price, as it defeats the decentralization.

Now can we let this thread die? Please? lol.

This thread isn't dying because the topic is pretty interesting to many people here (including me). It doesn't matter how many times the question was answered in this thread it is still interesting to see new opinions or even those which are similar to previously written but put in other words.

As for whether should miners start a union I already answered earlier in this thread.

It is something that is impossible at it's core to do.  I mean it's not even if we can start a union.  As said before a union bargain's with someone... you cant bargain with free market.   We CAN NOT have a union we have no boss/employer.  So a bitcoin union is a moot point.

At first yes was interesting.  But at this point it's been talked about and no new views have came up... just ones that are repeated and are close to one before.  That is why I thin it should die.
