3842  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Mt.Gox Yubikey Coupon Code on: January 12, 2013, 03:34:22 AM
I want to warn you that coupon code are not transferrable. At least the ones that MtGox offers for free to their existing customers.

MtGox emailed me a free Yubikey coupon code. I sold it to someone. But MtGox ended up shipping the Yubikey to my address, tied to my MtGox account. MtGox Support confirmed that coupons are tied to the account they are first offered with.
No idea on this - but I would beg to differ. I've used a free Yubikey coupon code from someone who claimed that he got it from MtGox's email, and the Yubikey arrived at my place easily. This was from a couple of months ago, though..

Great replies so far. ..... just checking -  not a gram of suspicion from anybody ?
If Bitcoin were a closed system, I would be suspicious. It's open source and anyone suspecting anything can review the code to their satisfaction.
3844  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / SERIOUS VULNERABILITY related to accepting zero-confirmation transactions on: January 12, 2013, 03:17:47 AM
If you do not accept zero-confirmation transactions this vulnerability does not affect you.

However if you do be advised that a previously unknown coin-stealing attack has been found that allows zero-confirmation transactions to be double-spent with a trivial amount of effort and without having to have access to any mining capacity.

Details will be release as soon as a patch is ready. In the meantime do not accept any transaction without at least one confirmation unless you fully trust the sender not to defraud you.

Mods: please copy this to important announcements.
3845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SERIOUS VULNERABILITY related to accepting zero-confirmation transactions on: January 12, 2013, 03:17:44 AM
As this is stickied by someone but not posted in the Important Announcement subforum, I'll take the liberty to post it there too.
3846  Other / Meta / Re: Confrontation with a scammer... on: January 12, 2013, 03:01:56 AM
PS: I've split your question out from that off-topic thread, and moved it to Meta. I think the guy you need is theymos, as we mods don't issue and cannot issue scammer tags. If you want to see a list of scammers here, try https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sa=search, and put 'scammer' as the position to search. Tick the ' Search by position' flag.

3848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoins do you have invested? on: January 11, 2013, 02:29:53 PM
Zero atm especially after the Pirate and Bitcoinica fiasco, which took away almost 600+ coins. Only have a small sum of coins at a few old lenders now. All coins in cold storage now.

And you don't intend to get more?
Personally i have a few but nowhere near enough.
With the recent PA, its starting to look like its not going into single digits again.
But at current prices, i can barely afford a few hundred.
I'm still mining and accumulating coins, which I don't plan to sell in the near future. I'm probably getting more afterwards. It's just that I'm not investing my Bitcoins, but I'm still invested in BitcoinsWink
3849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to put mining rigs? Wife wants them out of the house! on: January 11, 2013, 02:19:07 PM
To the OP: send them to me! I have an extra room, I call it my "server room" that currently contains my one-and-a-half rigs Smiley Aaand I have free electricity! Well not free, but it's included in my rent, I pay a fixed amount no matter how much I use.

The only problem is you're in L.A. and I'm in New Hampshire...

How do you swing fixed price electricity?  That's a sweet deal!

I have three rigs right now and building a fourth.  Expect to have 10 in the next month or two.  That could easily be a $900 power bill in LA, even with commercial rates.

In Long Beach.. wondered if you've got any resolution to this yet?   I have a fairly good size separate addition to the house.  I have a special account with SCE that prices electricity at a fraction of the normal cost.  I also supplement with a solar panel set up.  I currently have two 7970's and two BFL Singles all water cooled.  Interested in teaming up?   Could add water cooling to your rigs and take advantage of the low electricity cost and stay in the local area.

Daryl
Check the dates.
3850  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Re: Vircurex and Cryptostocks Wallet Compromised. on: January 11, 2013, 02:02:25 PM
Further update:  The system was not breached, no passwords were compromised (they are salted and multiple times hashed anyways). The attacker used a RubyOnRails vulnerability that was released yesterday (http://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/24019/) to withdraw the funds therefore we will put back in the deposit addresses and leave the wallet as it is.

Addresses of offline storage only store small amounts to avoid attack scenarios while importing them back to the server wallet.

A rewording should go like this:
Offline storage addresses only hold small amounts to avoid potential attacks when imported back to the server wallet.

However. this is still quite vague, and implies that offline addresses only store small amounts when in fact you're storing nearly all of your customers' in offline generated Bitcoin addresses. Consider changing this sentence.

I'll make an account and play with it later.

3854  Bitcoin / Important Announcements / Vircurex and Cryptostocks Wallet Compromised. on: January 11, 2013, 01:05:15 PM
We sadly need to announce that our wallet has been compromised thus DO NOT send any further funds to any of the coin wallets, BTC, DVC, LTC, etc. We will setup a new wallet and reset all the addresses. This will most likely take the whole weekend.

3855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammed by TORWallet! on: January 11, 2013, 01:01:02 PM
Hello!!!Torwallet does not allow me to withdraw bitkoin!
I sent an email with the screen on jfreak53@microtronix-tech.com.
Can I get your bitkoin?I await your reply.
Thank you.
TORWallet has folded shop, and your coins are probably lost to them. Microtronix only manages the hosting, so there's no use contacting them to get your coins back.
3856  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 1Broker.com - Vulnerabilty & bug bounty on: January 11, 2013, 12:49:14 PM
Well, the last two rewards do not seem really substantial enough for what they're worth. What makes you think a hacker finding that kind of exploit would not try to empty your wallets and/or more malicious actions?

That said, there's still some minor wording errors here and there:

GPG should be caps in this case. A comma between creation and all would be appropriate too.

This one?

Would somebody be so kind as to format it to avatar size so that I can add it to my collection? Thanks, in advance.
