3841  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is like day trading ? on: March 17, 2020, 08:46:11 AM
Well, day trading is quite risky. You have to know what you are doing to thrive in it, or simply develop a strategy that works for you. If you spend alot of time learning to day trade but you're still not profitable in real trade, then day trading is probably not your thing. You could try other type of trading, like weekly trading, long-term/holding etc. Always remember to trade what you can afford to lose.
Regarding typical betting or gambling, I have seen few who claim they earn consistently from it... whether it is true or not, I don't know. Some skill-based betting could actually be profitable, I guess.
3842  Economy / Economics / Re: If bitcoin is made for times like these why is everyone selling at a time like.. on: March 17, 2020, 08:02:12 AM
Correlation , enough said.
My question simply is in a time of hysteria why sell out things that will be of more value in said hard times.
Unless said items where merely marketed as a fail safe without acutally being a fail safe.

Hope we have learned our lessons from this. It's time to make things more resilient and hard to manipulate. The decentralized approach remains the best way to go. Tokens backed by long-lasting decentralized physical/virtual assets should be developed. The assets should be well decentralized, controlled by their owners and should be mostly based on what can sustain holders in chaotic time.
If token developers choose to centralized/semi-centralized things, that is fine, as long as they don't sell them as decentralized or in deceptive manner.     The most important thing is that people are sustained in hard times by themselves, and that the decentralized don't get controlled or influenced by centralized/semi-centralized.. that is bad for crypto. The three worlds/spaces should be distinct in my opinion. In the end we will know which is truely safe.
3843  Other / Off-topic / Re: Strengthen our immune system. on: March 17, 2020, 07:13:11 AM
Nice. But I wonder why people always skip fruits and vegetables. Is it that people don't like them or what? Perhaps we don't want people to stay healthy?
Imagine people filling up their kitchen with junk and processed foods. I found it unbelievable and careless. If you are worried about fresh foods getting spoiled, then buy the dehydrated/dried & very healthy ones. Don't feed your body with junk and expect it to work efficiently.
I prefer to eat 100% natural without the additives and chemicals.

People should also stay away from bad things. Before you do something, ask yourself whether it is Good, neutral or bad. Avoid the bad.
3844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's in the game, after all? on: March 15, 2020, 02:52:00 PM
~
As a rule, we take our successes as something granted, something we have been born for. On the other hand, we are prone to strongly exaggerate our failures and setbacks feeling miserable, disappointed and resentful as if luck played a dirty trick on us. In short, we feel deceived
~

Since we tend to apply this approach to almost anything in life, I think gambling can be of some help in understanding very important things.

When we come to realize that we lose mainly not because of the bad luck, but rather because of the house edge and our bad money management, the things we didn't consider before, we can also comprehend that we fail exams and job interviews mainly because of our lack of knowledge and experience, and we can start improving ourselves instead of blaming all our failures on bad luck.

(Note: You can't improve anything in luck based games except the obvious commitment to not stake more than you can afford to lose).

Exactly.
Something as easy/simple as farming could be considered gambling without proper knowledge on farming.       I guess the proper word for what we call gambling here is betting/prediction market. Gambling in my opinion is simply taking big risk. Adequate knowledge and preparation reduce the risk. If you win consistently with low risk then you definitely not gambling. Occasionally betting with what you can afford to lose in luck-based games doesn't really qualify as big risk.
3845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Smart Contract Money Making Programs - Risk Free? on: March 15, 2020, 02:26:34 PM
First paragraph sounds like some sort of pyramid scheme. Is it sustainable? You could ask the developers of the program how members are in full control of their funds. Do members or project owners control the keys ? Well, it seems some smart contract are safer than others. The smart contract will probably need to be audited to determine how safe it is.
3846  Other / Off-topic / Re: COVID-19: Let us help each and everyone. on: March 15, 2020, 11:14:41 AM
Many people likely have "dumb" ideas that are effective or could works but are worried to share to avoid problems. It is probably better to have a safe place everyone can share ideas together, and where we can experiment to see what truely work or doesn't work. So far the current solutions look reasonable... whether they are very effective or not, we regular people don't really know.
People should eat good foods (plus drinks enough water) for immune boosting, as someone already mentioned... I would try fruits/vegs fasting too. People should generally do what is right/good, and avoid getting worried/afraid. If listening to news makes you fearful/sad/hopeless, then focus on good things that make you happy and less fearful. You could just check the news once in a while, especially those that bring you the real situation without causing you fear and hopelessness
3847  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What To Do? (For People Who Mostly Gamble on NBA Games) on: March 15, 2020, 10:37:09 AM
For those who are addicted to gambling, especially in the NBA Games or other sports betting, I think this is the right time to take a break because in my opinion there will always be good that can be done behind this chaos.

And besides only a few betting available on sports betting site right now that I really want. I've seen some games but I don't want to force myself into something that I don't have knowledge. It's not my way as a sports bettor for a long time. Instead of getting profits, it will just wreck my funds that will just add to my disappointment given by this pandemic event we are dealing with.

No choice but to take a break. I also mention on other thread that there's no urge for me to do gambling right now but this is just my stand today. Who knows after a few days, I will back again in my usual. There are things needed to be addressed first.

Wish we could channel some of that money/time/effort in bettng competitions to solve current world problems, or even provide best possible solutions the problems. I guess I have seen one or two games with something like that. I wish they are successful/viable, and have safe platforms any interested person can spend time (and money) solving real world problems and getting rewarded when necessary.
3848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction threads on: March 15, 2020, 09:46:04 AM
I think those threads have positive impacts on our state of mind.
The more you see addiction threads, read about peoples experience, how they recovered, and their present state of mind as gamblers, Makes us / you develop this self believe that we / you can equally do the same and be free from addiction

So yes, this gambling discussions has helped alot.
Those threads also serve as a warning if you are not addicted to gambling, this is useful because a person that has never been addicted to anything does not really have an idea of how destructive an addiction can be for the person that is addicted and there are people here that have shared their experiences and when you read them the first thing that comes to my mind is that I do not want to go through the same things, so the next time you gamble that is always in your head and the chances you could become addicted to gambling go down.

Many or most people are addicted to alot of things. Doing that things despite their huge risk is what I normally consider as gambling. The bigger the risk, the more it qualifies as gambling. And it's not really a good thing to be addicted to taking big risk. Besides, enjoying taking big risk could leave you easily vulnerable to dangerous addiction.
3849  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin was created for time like this! on: March 15, 2020, 09:05:13 AM
True. But it is also important to create the right infrastructures for people to use their valuable bitcoins on, especially if you can't easily attract them to the Network.    There should be things built on top of Bitcoin that people should find very hard to resist. I should be able to buy/sells good things with fellow Bitcoiners in peer-to-peer or decentralization manner.. . and it should specifically be things that are harmless to people and societies.

3850  Other / Off-topic / Re: Battery electric mower fighting on: March 15, 2020, 08:48:10 AM
This seems to be a new sport. The idea seems to be to kill the other guys mower, and to keep yours still able to cut grass. People seem to want to fight with, or race, virtually anything. Smiley

Societies are fueling the taste for murdering things unfortunately. People are getting programmed (intentionally or unintentionally) to do this things. That is why it's better to avoid things that promote violence. In my opinion, you could be easily programmed without even realizing it.
3851  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fresh food supermarket shopping in the current virus insanity. on: March 15, 2020, 08:36:45 AM
Whilst supermarket shelves are being denuded of loo tolls, tinned tomatoes, soap, and other non-perishables, the fresh food seems to be being ignored. I've just bought some boxes of 12 free range eggs for 10 pence, and yesterday I bought a load of stuff including easpberries for 12 pence per box, and family sized boxes of mushrooms for 9 pence. The cost of living is extremely low for me during this virus pndemic..

I'm tempted to start a few cooking threads about low cost meals.

Easy, tasty, unhealthy, filling, attractive foods normally attract lots of people.. That's probably why fruits(and sometimes vegetables) markets or sections  don't usually get alot of patronage, and they're not as common as junk/"not-too-healthy" foods markets, supermarkets and shops.
Hope the fruits/vegs are organic... There are lots of "factory made fruits" popping up where I stay these days.
3852  Economy / Economics / Re: If bitcoin is made for times like these why is everyone selling at a time like.. on: March 13, 2020, 05:05:49 PM
Well, if we want the dangerous volatility to be minimized, we can actually reason together and reduce that. There are lots of practical ways to do this without compromising Bitcoin principles. One of the solutions is basically similar to how governments stabilize fiat currencies, but ours will be decentralized and way more transparent. Price needs to  move up gently and down a bit.
I sometimes wonder why people don't understand that dangerous volatility will scare off alot of regular people
And it's bad idea to fix the issue centrally. Decentralized communities should be in control of the affairs of Bitcoin/crypto, not the other way around.
3853  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Practices and habit on: March 13, 2020, 04:43:47 PM
One of the simplest practices is to: buy low, sell high.

If you don't have alot of time to analyze charts, simply stick to the simplest strategies, like the buy lows sell highs or buy dips, sell highs. You need to have reasonable amount of fund in your stablecoin balance and use that for buying the important lows to sell at high prices. This strategy is fairly easy and usually earn consistent profits with few losses (if you know what you are doing).
Always remember to trade with amount you can afford to lose
3854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19: Avoid casino, play online on: March 13, 2020, 11:05:05 AM
I think if the authorities recommend staying at home, people should actually take it seriously unless the authorities also suggest how to stay safe in physical casinos... and they should ensure that casino owners use the correct and adequate safety materials in their casinos.

By the way, I wonder why businesses like casinos don't consider working from home and recommending their customers to their online casino sites?
3855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners' Novel Approach to Find Cure for COVID-19: Biohacking on: March 13, 2020, 10:47:31 AM
Depends on the reasons for the pharmaceuticals & FDA processes, and how effective/good and safe they are. I think you could actually do things much better, quicker, safer and possiblee with good results if the process(which I assume are good/safe) are replicated on a self-regulated, truely decentralized networks.  In my opinion, it's quite risky for this to be done without rules and in secrecy. Would they take the risk if there is guaranteed consequences for careless mistakes?
They should be really transparent, open to the public when necessary, involve proven professionals for guidance and regulate themselves (self-regulation I guess). I am very OK with the anonymity as long as they can be held accountable for careless mistakes
3856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the position of the gambler in the market? on: March 13, 2020, 08:38:55 AM
Didn't get that correctly... You mean gambling on property or gambling with your properties?
Well, there are basically two forms of gambling, the skill-based and probability/luck-based gambling. If you are skillful in a particular game, you could check if there exist platforms you can bet on your skills and games.  Luck-based gamblings are for those who just want to try their luck to win a prize. Not recommended to spend alot of your time and money on luck-based gambling, or spend alot of time on games that don't earn you consistent profits.
I think OP can earn consistently in luck based games through promotions some sites launches promotions every week but the rewards are small since their prizes usually depends on the participants. Or if he's willing to go big he could take the risk on wager competitions.

Sports betting is an example of a skill based game where experience and research helps in the long run while games like Roulette etc are all about dumb luck.
Sports betting might be a little difficult now that several sports have been getting postponed and cancelled because of the virus. Poker is another example if OP is still looking for another skill based game.

Interesting. I guess the promotion is in form of giveaway or something. Or is like they are getting people paid for promoting their sites? By the way, I have read some say they win consistently in probability based gambling with martingale strategy, I guess that is not really true... maybe they are just lucky?
3857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Coronavirus and it’s impact on sporting events - please add on: March 13, 2020, 07:55:20 AM
There are so many events that has been cancelled because of this virus,
But it was for the best because it is for the safety of everyone they should prioritize the health of everyone since those event could always continue once the virus is cured,
But the life of those who would be lost because of the virus could never come back.

Exactly. People shouldn't worry about the canceling, it's definitely for everyone's good. If this affect your favorite players, it will probably affect the club chance of competiting well. Hopefully the players/clubs and their huge fans don't get involved in other things that encourage the spread of the virus.

Lest I forget:
Buy sufficient foods, eat healthy, drink lots safe drinking water, avoid "bad things", change your bad ways(repent). If you believe in a true CREATOR, pray, humble yourself, and ask him for forgiveness, & to guide you to know the truth/the way, I strongly believe HE will guide you if you trust HIM. Don't allow fear ruin your life, though be cautious about harmful things.... You will be kept safe no matter how dangerous your surroundings is
3858  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your opinion on ASMR? on: March 13, 2020, 06:50:15 AM
Things like this should be properly researched before using them. The side effects could range from addiction, personality change, possession(if you know what I mean), etc
I usually listen to sounds that are totally harmless, and gentle... especially those that praises our CREATOR.
I remember falling into trance while watching a movie, and I saw something I wouldn't want to post here... I have been suspicious of worldly songs/movie since them. Though believe there are some that are safe for human consumption, most likely those produced by truely good people
3859  Economy / Economics / Re: GokuMarket – One Marketplace For The Blockchain Economy on: March 13, 2020, 06:18:09 AM
Is it truly decentralized or just a marketing name? Not a good thing to sell things as decentralized but users/buyers end up with centralized stuff. Promotors or developers should be totally sincere about the nature of things they promote, so people don't get deceived into buying things that are not what they want.
No one is stopping developers from building  centralized things in Crypto world,  they should however not promote them as what they are not.
To avoid mixing things up, we should probably have a different market/space for centralized, semi-decentralized and properly decentralized things. That will help alot. And will see which will survive in total choas
3860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In times of turmoil, is Bitcoin really a safe-haven asset? on: March 13, 2020, 05:53:23 AM
I think we all should be responsible for making Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies safe haven.
If everything dies down today, I bet people will go back to their old ways. When the old way results to crashes , people will complain again, and it happens over and over again.
I wish people could stop being greedy/selfish and start doing things properly. The Right thing should be done absolutely! Decentralization, Transparency, immutablity, censorship resistant permissionless/trustless transactions, etc. We must try as much as possible to avoid things that will lead to problems in the future. Safe haven should be made of things that can survive worst disasters... I would seriously recommend things like foods(not "centralized food"), smale/medium scale farming implements, decentralized internet, first aid box, survival information, torch, more of natural things, mobile homes, mobile hospitals, mobile industries, inverters, etc. Crypto communities should produce and trade these things, even on decentralized exchanges. They should be continously traded like we normally trade cryptocoins. When disasters hit, lots of people in centralized world will have no option than to join our world and that will be good for price. I will definitely buy alots of cryptocoins that are specifically designed for such assets. And it would be fun to diversify into multiple assets
