3861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I love bitcoin but there are some concerns (zero difficulty in the early days) on: January 24, 2015, 12:50:25 AM
Well, of course you're right that his could have been planned in advance or something, but I really think the danger this could potentially have for Bitcoin to be miniscule. The biggest 'true' danger would be if Satoshi decided to unload all the coins he mined in the early days - if he (still) controls them. But also that would be something Bitcoin would eventually cope with!
That could crush the price real hard, but if there is enough demand people would enjoy the cheap ass coins. Right now it wouldn't be a good idea tho. I think satoshi is holding for life anyway.
3862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would people want to invest in 'Bitcoin'? on: January 24, 2015, 12:48:39 AM
OP, if you're heavily Litecoin invested, I'd suggest you jump on a sharp sword instead, it'd be a swifter death.

Litecoin's own inventor is jumping ship pretty much:

No VC investment, no development, nobody really buying LTC...stick a fork in it!     Tongue

And please don't mention one of those suckcoins like Paycoin, or NXT, or Ripple, or Pizzeria UNO, or Peercoin, or Maidsafe, or Stellar....Ain't nobody supporting or buying into those copycats!   Grin

Well he's right, Litecoin works as it is, it was intended to be an alternative to BTC, thats all. For revolutionary stuff you have MaidSafe, Litecoin is just a coin.

After spending the past year in a Brooklyn federal prison, Ross Ulbricht will finally head to a New York City court on Tuesday where prosecutors will try to prove he is the mastermind behind the anonymous billion-dollar online drug market Silk Road.

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/heres-what-to-expect-from-the-silk-road-trial?utm_source=mbfb

Is there any doubt he is the mastermind at this stage, lets hope they go easy on him but i fear it cant get any better then shrem.

You don't doubt that he's the mastermind yet you think he should get off easy?  He's a criminal that probably deserves to spend a very long time in prison.

What he did removed violence from the streets..

America should be sued billions and he should be given a medal for pushing freedoms.  "Criminal" is a moronic term.  He shouldn't see a single day and many higher ups in america should never see the light of day ever again.  Making drugs illegal DECIMATES poor communites and poor countries and causes massive violence.

Im all for freedom but you know what can happen if you are selling illegal shit online, he knew what was coming. What do you want people to do? Make a political party and try to change the laws otherwise you know how things work and selling drugs is illegal, and yes I agree it would reduce street violence but I dont make the laws.

How much users have cryptsy and bter?
I think its impossible to get a number without the owners commenting on it.
However, I think Cryptsy currently has more number of members than BTER.
Its funny how Cryptsy may be the leading one after so many errors with their service. I once had my coins dissapear for an entire day. It was nerve breacking, almost had a heart attack. Ridiculous shit.
Poloniex is much more solid in my book.
3865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2008 revision of bitcoin whitepaper on: January 24, 2015, 12:35:55 AM
Oh wow, that's interesting! I really wonder why no one is in possession of that document. Someone should do a diff and do a direct side-by-side comparison! I might just go ahead and see if I can find it somewhere online!
Try this?

3866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyday Bitcoin transactions. Show others who accepts BTC in your areas on: January 21, 2015, 04:38:15 PM
Great idea. I wish I got paid in Bitcoin so I could spend some of mine. As of right now I cant take the risk of spending Bitcoin in everyday common stuff, if I had more I wouldn't mind but im trying to have a decent amount first.

Cryptocurrency may as well be called "cryptic currency," because it's nowhere near as easy to figure out as typical money
Why do people always say that?
Bitcoin are easy to use. The biggest problem is to buy them on an exchange and that isn't even hard, if you have ever filled out a form for e.g. a bank account.
If you want to look further into the tech and not just using it, yes, it is complicated, but so is "typical" money or online banking.

It's normal. For the common populace is like going from writing letters to sending them over email. It's not easy to use at all and it's all very experimental for them. Its the truth. It will change in the next 10 years tho. The concept of internet money is too mind blowing for common folk.
3868  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justice Is Served I Guess on: January 21, 2015, 04:22:50 PM
Just a question: Would this have happened if he was using Monero and running the stuff over Maidsafe?
3869  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 Bitcoin Doomsday Scenarios I can't find much discussion on... on: January 21, 2015, 04:12:51 PM
how about the current doomsday?
There are a lot of big problems concerning Bitcoin now, mainly the fork problem which needs to be addressed due future blockchain bloat, the exchanges being hacked, and the mainstream public still not being able to understand Bitcoin let alone use it, which translates on a shitty price.

Time will prove us right tho.
I don't think, forking is a problem. Most people don't care, the rest has to follow or they will be pretty much alone in their fork.

And why the hell wouldn't they follow? If they own Bitcoins and they want the best for Bitcoin they will do follow. Its better than doing it once Bitcoin is popular.
3870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone needs to caaaalm down on: January 21, 2015, 03:59:41 PM
Whenever im feeling tense about the stupid price, I watch Andreas Antonopoulous videos and common sense makes me relaxed. In 5 to 10 years I wouldn't be able to deal with the pain of being stupid enough to sell now.
3871  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Waste of time on: January 21, 2015, 03:57:15 PM
OP is the definition of butthurt. If you can't hold an asset for more than 5 years with a straight face investing is not for you.
3872  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there blood on the floor yet? on: January 20, 2015, 02:37:24 PM

That looks like Bitstamp after everyone withdrew their deposits.
3873  Economy / Economics / Re: Is crypto as a financial investment doomed? on: January 20, 2015, 02:08:00 PM
I can't think of a better long-long term investment. What other technology has the foundations to disrupt as much as the blockchain? get real.
3874  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Altcoin prices on: January 20, 2015, 01:57:47 PM
Generally speaking, if "you're" interested in "the other," "you're" interested in "the one."
This makes sense, but also makes sense that one would withdraw their altcoins for BTC if BTC starts going back up. BTC is the safe haven in the crypto world.
3875  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sucks its nearly impossible to sell tangible goods for BTC! on: January 20, 2015, 01:54:25 PM
Tried to sell a 2008 BMW 335xi with low miles and garage kept only south florida driven etc.

Watches...

Gold...

Locally nobody wants to accept it and educating people on it sucks and the typical sheep just abandons the thought, and this is from someone who lives in the ONLY City thats supposed to be known as the "bitcoin city" Madeira Beach, Florida (on St.Peterburg's coast) even explaining how they can save money from VISA raping them and so forth im just really hoping some phat cat makes some moves that will replenish the energy in BTC that it had when it went from $50-1200 and I predicted the entire thing on streaming twitter and social media watching it rise $100 every 24 hours! made alot of people VERY wealthy, but at the same time a lot of friends, acquaintances lost money via getting scammed by selective scamming in exchanges . . . . sucks, local is the only way to buy to be 100%! Where is there a BTC eBay type site ?
Bitcoin is still in its infancy, its expected that you are going to have problems trying to sell goods of such nature when most people dont know what Bitcoin is yet.

Yes, this is true but not the only problem for bitcoin.
Other problems are unstable value (sellers will not like bitcoin if price of btc drop every day), not many merchants accepted btc, negative media reports etc.

Trends come and go. Once the popular perception shifts towards a more positive one we'll see more people using it. Just wait 1 or 2 years when surveillance and fiat problems start becoming a concern among the average Joe.
3876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Spain: social liberals calls for regulation on: January 20, 2015, 01:52:13 PM
They claimed "there is an unlimited amount of Bitcoins in circulation".
These guys seem clueless to me.
3877  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is made for all men women and Children world wide on: January 20, 2015, 01:49:03 PM
World wide? I would question this part! Trade any Bitcoins in North Korea lately?

If you wanted to conduct a transaction with someone in North Korea, is there any better way than Bitcoin?

Is there anyone in NK that knows how to use it or even what it is?
How would it happen if they have a firewall on the entire country? how do you connect to the blockchain??

3879  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is over! on: January 15, 2015, 05:08:51 PM
What will you do now when bitcoin price is dropping like crazy and soon will reach 0?

If it reaches zero this forum will shut and this conversation would have never happened   Cool

I doubt both things. The community in this forum is insanely big, all the people here will not magically go away even on the most catastrophic scenareo.
3880  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyway to learn whilst you earn? on: January 15, 2015, 05:06:32 PM
Learning how to use Bitcoin is easy, earning Bitcoin not so much, just as fiat isn't easy to earn.
You could even go to reddit and beg for some satoshis posting your address claiming you want to learn, they may help you.

But best idea is a faucet, you can also mine a new altcoin and sell on a pump for BTC, this is a lottery tho, and you need decent hardware.
