I cant see the Chicago Womens Open on Sportsbet, there must be about 10 or 20
other tournaments listed though, strange.

I'm keeping a watch on whats happening in Winston-Salem, the only bet I have on
today is Carreno Busta to win against Kwon.

I thought a lot of the top players would be there but it turns out not to be.
The ones playing are all of similar capabilities and the odds are very even.

Yeah, but a lot of familiar names in this tournament, browsing sportsbet right now and there are a lot of games to put a bet.

Maybe it's time to do multi-betting? Lol. In any case, I like the Busta vs Kwon match, sure fire with here I would say for Busta. Paire vs Simon Giles might be a close one though, so I won't bet on that match.

yes there are a lot of familiar names in the tournament but as i posted earlier its
really hard to pick winners. Carreno Busta won today, its the only one I did.

Likewise it looks like qualifying in the U.S Open has started and the vast
majority of the players are unknown to me.
3862  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Bitcointalk assisted in my financial stability on: August 24, 2021, 08:31:10 PM
I started out with faucets, back then, they would pay more than 1000 Satoshi for each roll, which is an extravagant amount for our current standards.
Yeah, isn't it crazy how much bitcoin you could get from faucets just a couple of years ago?  And I think faucets are--or at least used to be--a lot of people's introduction to bitcoin.  That was true for me back when I first started getting interested in crypto, as I didn't know how to go about buying it at first (or even how it worked exactly).

Thanks for sharing that story, OP.  I thought it was going to be a bloated shitpost at first, but I actually enjoyed reading it.  This thread should probably be in Reputation or some other section, though.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate feedback from reputable members of this forum. I wasn't sure on where to post this, and decided to post on Economics because I was talking about financial stability, I see that it has been moved to the appropriate category already. This thread is a way to say thank you, in return, for what this forum has provided me.

Returning to the main topic now, faucets were really paying great amounts in BTC back then, I was also in MoonDoge and one more which was paying in Litecoin, can't even remember its name. They definitely used to be the first portal to cryptocurrency, I wish I had abused them to the maximum potential, let's also keep in mind how many they were back then, literally hundreds of different ones.

This is a coincidence, my brother who is in crypto longer than me was talking about
these faucets yesterday, press a button and you got multiples of Bitcoin, crazy
to think that Bitcoin was given out free at a certain stage to aid its adoption.

Good OP @Ultegra134 this is a common story as @jackg posted. I enjoyed your story.

What is commendable is that you remembered all your passwords, you returned
to the forum and are planning for the future.
3863  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin go high the poor will not participate on: August 24, 2021, 06:22:52 PM
I'm sure the question was asked before when Bitcoin was a lot lower. Its just perception.

When Bitcoin was at $1 there were many who couldnt fathom buying it at $10, the
same when it went to $10 it was probably unthinkable to buy at $250 and so on.

When Bitcoin was priced at $1000 I didnt even buy a half Bitcoin. There is a phrase
being used more and more its "Stacking Satoshi's", there will come a time when some
people will be stating they are so happy because they have 100,000 Satoshi's.

nitrogensports.eu is offline at the moment, otherwise I'd have a look and see what's on offer (there were only two venues in the US when I put those wagers on earlier - not sure when the US open will appear) - who are you wanting to put wagers on?

Nobody in particular TBH Timelord, I normally browse to see what games are on and
make a decision them

3866  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: August 23, 2021, 10:15:30 PM
Its all about timing IMO.

I borrowed FIAT and bought Bitcoin back in February 2020, it is currently worth 5 times
more than when I bought it, It was priced at around $10k then but the key was that
it was before the halving of 2020.

The timing meant that the repayments would start before the halving with an aim to
have the loan paid off in 12 months.

Some of the questions I asked myself were:

1./ What are the weekly/monthly repayments going to be?
2./ Can I afford it?
3./ Is my job Safe?
4./ Can I take a pay cut? I.E take part of my wage and redirect it to the loan.

Essentially I pre-bought Bitcoin! instead of buying small amounts every week I bulk
bought at $10k and used those small payments I would have used to buy Bitcoin
to pay the loan.

I wouldnt borrow now to buy Bitcoin though, the reward v's risk is less IMO and there is
risk as many have mentioned.
3867  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price last until the end of the year? on: August 23, 2021, 06:23:49 PM
Since a few months ago, a lot of people have been having discussions about the price of Bitcoin whether it will reach the price of $50K. Precisely today, the Cryptocurrency market seems to answer the analysis of many people about the price of Bitcoin that today Bitcoin has reached $50K. Will the price last until the end of the year or will the price of Bitcoin go back down.
The way the market behaved for the past few months suggests to me that this is the 2nd phase of the bull run.

So, no the way I see it BTC won't be 50K by the end of the year but at a much higher price - this is my personal opinion, and so I don't recommend making investments based on this.

In any case, I feel bullish.... Come on BTC, you can do it  Cheesy

Following PlanB's S2F model there is no way we are going to be stuck at $50k at the
end of the year. It points to a rise in Bitcoin's value.

Will Bitcoin go down? probably, we have already seen a drop today.
How far will it drop? nobody knows, anything can happen, indeed look at what happened
last year with COVID and the effects that had on world economics and in turn Bitcoin.

In this bullish market PlanB estimates an average low of ~$43k and an average high
around the middle of next year of ~$288k or $266k (i cant find the article ATM)

I have pretty much the same but as singles, never thought to do a parlay Storm, Panthers
and Sea Eagles. The game between the Rabbitohs and Roosters should be a right cracker.
The odds on Sportsbet are Roosters 3.90 v 1.26 Rabbitohs, I cant call this one.

As regards outright winners I have Storm, Panthers and Eels from a few weeks ago but
I'm leaving it at that. If any of the 3 above win I will be in profit.
3869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 23, 2021, 06:13:23 AM
Well next up is the Winston-Salem Open which kicked off yesterday I think and lots of
top players attending then the US Open.

There is a good chance now for both Medvedev and Zverev to reach the final at
least and to challenge Djokovic, Rublev and Tsitsipas have also to be considered.

3870  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 22, 2021, 10:45:17 PM
my other bet today is teichmann winning a set @ 2.31, she has been on fire this week, playing the best tennis of her life, full of confidence after 3 victories against top ranked players, she just might get the biggest win of her career today.
I skipped women's match. Was thinking of playing the same or handicap on Teichman but then I checked out Barty stats in the tournament and she had a walk in the park so far. Nobody took a set from her yet and she left Azarenka on just 2 games in the match. Granted Azarenka is nowhere near her best form but still she is a solid player.

Since I did not watch any of the WTA matches in Cincinnati it is difficult for me to judge how good were our finalists or if it was simply a case of bad opponents. That happens much more often in WTA since girls do not have a serve to get them through bad patches like most guys on ATP.

I did a small in-play bet on Barty which I dont like doing but she was very impressive
getting the job done in 2 sets.

Just watching the mens final, Rublev to serve and gets broken in the first game, I dont
have a bet on yet..... and Rublev gets broken again, not a good start.

And just like that, Zverev took the trophy in this tournament.

Rublev just started bad and Zverev take advantage of it. I think Rublev's big win against Medvedev carry his momentum against Zverev.

I also thought that this finals could go on a 3 set over match. But the game score was just 17 points.

Yea it certainly looked like Rublev was spent after the big win against Medvedev in the
semi final and this contrasted greatly against Zverev's game which was almost perfect
apart from being broken himself in the second set which is where the 4 double faults come from.

Such a pity for Rublev, the result doesnt reflect his performance in the tournament at al.

3872  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin @ $50k on: August 22, 2021, 06:48:39 PM
This is a intense battle to get to 50k we are creeping towards it but it keeps taking hits whenever it is getting close. I am starting to doubt my faith in it reaching 50k by next month. I think it will this year not by next month. This is not good for investors who are looking at the charts because it has the risk of dropping down a lot if people panic about it not reaching it.

I dont think it will take that long to hit $50k, we came very close today but the buy
pressure crumbled and we broke back to $48.

There is no doubt we will be hitting and crossing $50k, its just another price point
to breach, next will be $55k but there is a chance we are going to test a lower price
to recharge for the $50k target.
3873  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 22, 2021, 10:42:09 AM
Just watching the Medvedev v Rublev match and Medvedev is in trouble, he has just
been broken and possibly again in this game, match point to Rublev....

There we go a win for Rublev, he played a savage game and I lost my bet on Medvedev
but I was able to throw on a quick in play bet on Rublev to break even.

Rublev broke Medevedev and just beat him 2-1 and has reached the final. Was expecting honestly a lot more from Medvedev but an amazing match for Rublev. Medvedev after this loss will be again far from the #1 position

Yea "the incident with the camera" seemed to rattle Medvedev. He definitely wasnt
right after that. He was complaining that the court area was too small.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/tennis/1480106/Daniil-Medvedev-threatens-sue-colliding-camera-Cincinnati-Masters-Andrey-Rublev-ATP-Tour

Maybe there is a reason Nadal only played that tournament once?
That incident with the camera was just what I needed for my over games bet to pass. He seemed very rattled after that game and gave a speech that he will broke the camera into 1000 pieces and not pay for it if he looses the match. I immediately placed a bet on Rublev to win the set and another one to win the match. Too bad it was for very small amounts since it was more like a try at big odds then really believing Rublev can win. Before that incident it was all Medvedev and I was sure I am loosing my initial bet.

Same here, I didn't bet pre-game because I'm all Medvedev and I don't like the odds.

But after the incident, I bet on the over and got a win.

Unfortunately, I also do a live betting on Tsitsipas, I don't know, but I'm been betting him in every tournament and it seems that I have lost again.

Rublev vs Zverev - I'll probably go with the over here.

I hope Medvedev will learn from this event, chances are if he kept his cool and manage
the situation mentally he could have won.

I didnt bet on Tsitsipas as I too lost too much on him this year but I did think he would
beat Zverev.

Wouldnt be able to pick a winner in the final, probably go with Rublev but not enough
to put my Satoshi's on.

Storm definitely deserve to be at the #1 spot and are probably favourites to take the title.

The Knights have a comfortable 10 point lead at half time against The Bulldogs. The pressure
is on The Eels to win today to keep a bit of distance between them.

Interesting article about Hayley Maddick and in general the transitioning from touch Rugby
to league. I think there is a real challenge especially here to try and keep girls, ladies and women
involved in sport.

 ^ ^

...and there we have it, just like it was ceeded the too four in the semi finals

Medvedev (1) v Rublev (4)

Zverev (3) v Tsitsipas (2)

Very interesting pairings, Rublev will give Medvedev a good run but I think
Medvedev will win, there will be serious power shots on display in this one.

Zverev v Tsitsipas is really difficult to call so I wont, Im edging towards Tsitsipas though.
3879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 20, 2021, 04:10:48 PM
I am also thinking Zverev should be able to take Ruud in straight sets. Ruud is solid player but his best surface is clay, he does not have enough time to run around the ball to hit that monster forehand on this surface.

Yes, so it's quite amazing to see him reach the quarter finals in this tournament. Maybe he got a lucky draw to be able to run this far. But he is a clay specialist, and I think Zverev could take him out easilty.

Rublev should have easy time but that match is must watch for me. Should be some cracking points. Tsitsipas and Felix are probably the closest match today. I will try with some handicap on Felix.

Tsitsipas lost the first first against Sonego, but eventually win. Felix has been improving a lot lately, so it's a good match to see as well.

I have Rublev, Medvedev for this round of 16 today and Zverev against Ruud
in the qarter final tomorrow.

I see Felix AA did the job against Berrettini, I couldnt call a winner beforehand
so I didnt bet on hat one. Also with Tsitsipas v Sonego Tsitsipas was favourite
but I have lost too much on him this year so I dont feel confident about him but
he won.

Latest news regarding the U.S Open

Rafael Nadal pulls out of US Open with foot injury, will miss remainder of 2021

In a statement posted on social media, the world No. 4 said he had been suffering
"much more than I should" with a foot injury, adding that the decision to end his 2021
season was "the way forward to recover and recover well."

So thats 2 op the big 3 missing the tournament and its now up to Medvedev, Tsitsipas
and maybe Zverev to stop Djokovic.

You do need some technical skills, not a lot though.

All the responses above are relevant so I'll throw a few more pointers in

When buying a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger make sure to buy direct, dont try and
make a saving from a reseller who could have compromised the security.

https://trezor.io

https://www.ledger.com

Make sure when sending Bitcoin from wallet to wallet that you are using Bitcoin addresses,
if you send to a non Bitcoin wallet you wont receive the amount and you wont get refunded.

Make sure to save and store you wallet keys/passphrase/password safely and securely
