I mined an entire 2.57 LTC, and it only took me 4 days :p

(as a side program, not 24/7)

would love any addition to the treasure pile:   LKam4cfHtVXXGxTmnMtHwUP4F8GLEGkSVD

Case is not empty, treasure is real, keep guessing.

it has something to do with this

I am going to guess that you made the internal boards upgradeable. (Individual modules. Hence the four blocks? Or it could be interpreted as a PLUS symbol?)

Code:
??? ????
== Add More

Hints at modular nature, like PuertoLibre guessed, you will probably be able to buy individual boards and hook them in like the ModMiner Quad.

Yay speculation! Smiley

have we been told what sort of input/outputs/display these may have? I wouldnt be suprised if they were modular, but so are a lot of FPGA rigs, so it wouldnt be very big news.

The image shows no connectivity options, thats where i think the surprise is. A small display on the front could make the units run practically as standalones.

Or, maybe theres some sweet led lighting and cold cathode tubes inside the case to make it glow/pulse to the speed of its hashing (also customisable to match the pace of music, if you decide to hold an ASIC PARTY!!!!!!
3883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 22, 2013, 06:35:05 PM
Does this come with a port to pump liquid nitrogen inside the case to keep it from melting?

Huh? They've been quoting 400 watts. Who has trouble cooling a 4U case pulling 400 watts?

What is the temperature of the room that this would need to be in?  If you had 50 of them in a room would they be able to cool themselves with just the fans?  You would need at least 10 Tons of cooling and exhaust for the heat.

So 20KW for the units and 20KW for the AC and exhaust.  Not too bad for 3TH+

Huh

Wow, thermodynamics.....is not your strong suit.

The thermodynamics is *technically* right, but a proper use of HVAC would need much less power to simply exhaust the heat

Time for funny story on cooling, BFL said something like we'd run into similiar problems like them knowing our design is completely different, e.g. rolled vs pipeline, we chuckled; since we are ahead, I'll say the same, I think BFL is going to run into some problems we ran into as well.

Anyways, cooling was the exact opposite, our units cool so well, we removed two fans. ZING.

Josh,

What do you think of the mammoth case Avalon just released pics of?  Do you think the PCB takes up the entire footprint?  Did they do this to spread the ASIC chips apart because of heat?  Just curious.

Probably. The avalon system apparently is going to run far cooler then expected, likely due to large fans and utilizing a form factor almost as big as the BFL shipping box. However, it would seem from posts that some of the space is occupied by a "radiator" and some sort of unrevealed secret
3885  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 21, 2013, 05:27:07 PM
way too much scrutiny over the picture, considering it was released simply to appease the trolls for a FEW DAYS UNTIL THE FIRST UNITS ARRIVE, at which point the customers can take as many minutes or hours as they like to tear down the unit and photograph every component and release videos of it hashing, etc, etc

cool down till then, because if a photo is worth 1000 words, we hit that point a few pages back
3886  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WOW! BFL is refusing full bitcoin refunds! on: January 20, 2013, 11:28:02 PM
Have you seen them advertise in BTC prices ANYWHERE? (i mean advertise, not tell you what the exchange rate is at time of purchase)
Why don't BFL fan boys read before they post 100 times same stupid argument? It has been answered and proof shown 100 times!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137026.msg1460393#msg1460393
Why do people not get this? It was NOT priced in bitcoins!!! Here's an example of what did NOT happen...
You are wrong!!!
It WAS and still IS priced in bitcoins as well. I don't give wishful examples. I give proof!

That is not pricing in Bitcoins.  That is asking for payment in Bitcoins in an amount equivalent to the USD pricing.

Im out of here, you're just straight trolling at this point
3887  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 20, 2013, 09:35:53 PM
another tip for the shipping speed debate: The faster they ship out 300 pre-paid units, the sooner they can start taking payments for more units.

it would seem silly for them to twiddle thier thumbs when the speed of delivering these units will determine how soon they can make more money/customers. (on the other side of the spectrum, BFL is still taking pre-orders)

ps: PLEASE dont turn my comment into a trollish BFL debate, this is an avalon thread for avalon devices and thats why im reading it.
3888  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WOW! BFL is refusing full bitcoin refunds! on: January 20, 2013, 09:32:05 PM
If they do that they should buy an options for buying bitcoins as an insurance like serious companies do, but 1st is it possible with bitcoins, and if it is, how expensive, and are they so serious company?
It is simple. If you can't afford and you can't manage bitcoin exchange rate risk you should not accept bitcoin payments.

Bitcoin is amazing. Bitcoin payments unmistakably expose every merchant scam. You can't treat people as customers when accepting their bitcoin payments and later treat them as investors when refunding their purchases! The very nature of bitcoin won't allow shady commercial practices.

Have you seen them advertise in BTC prices ANYWHERE? (i mean advertise, not tell you what the exchange rate is at time of purchase)

This debate is just stupid. If you wanted to return a $9.99 shirt to walmart, and the value of the USD had dropped 1% in the prior week, would you therefore demand they pay you back $10.09 (101%) of your purchase price? Get real.

Quote from: Specifications
Number of Pads: 48
    8 Data
    40+1 Power

40 of the pads are GND and 1 is VCC only have 8 tracks of Data
What? That makes no sense.
There's 48 pins and the one thermal slug under the chip. Of the 48 pins, 40 are power (GND and Vcc), and the +1 refers to the thermal pad which is also ground.

Good, that really is not important, the story is that there are only 8 pads data, the remaining 40 are split between GND and VCC.

my 2cents would be that its better form-factor or for cooling if the chip can be fed power from multiple lines where it is needed, rather then piping in through 2 lines and being forked within the chip to where power is consumed.

(Im not a hardware professional/manufacturer, thats just my logic for explaining the number of connections)

my other 2 conspiracy theories are:
1) more contacts simply help keep the chip sealed to the board better to prevent seperation in the case of thermal expansion/contraction or other physical abuse
2) some power connects are redundant in case errors or heat problems cause some pins to burn out or short. (though i dont think this is a very likely practise for mitigation of such an issue)
3890  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 20, 2013, 03:42:31 PM
I would imagine that at this point avalon has stood by its product, to a level that they feel actions speak louder then words or pictures (see BFL thread if you think pics=proof). Im as curious as anyone, and itching to see the next batch open up for sale, but a review from an avalon recipient would mean far more then what an avalon rep could post.

Plus, these boards have so many trolls, avalon probably figures anything they post will be scrutinized and called out as a hoax based on an image. Wait 3-4 days for DHL to do its thing and the concrete proof will appear
3891  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 20, 2013, 03:05:20 PM
Mine # 200000174
is this your order number from 0 (xxxxxx174)?

It says the whole thing is the order number.  I assume they began at 200m for some reason.

the 2 most likely indicates an order placed in 2012. The next batch (placed in 2013) will likely have a "3" at the front
3892  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GOOD LORD AVALONS COUNTDOWN TIMER IS NEGATIVE NOW on: January 20, 2013, 03:02:43 PM

how'd i even get that far for you? According to my estimates, if the timer was still ticking to the negatives, it wouldnt have gone further than 15hrs at this time, not 25hrs+
3893  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MegaBigPower.com - Managed Hosted Mining on: January 19, 2013, 08:58:43 PM
a baseline power cost to you of between 9.6c kW/H and 14.4c kW/H.

I pay between 8.3 - 9.6 cents per kWh in my home, sounds like you need to find a cheaper location for your data center
3894  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The State of the ASIC Market on: January 18, 2013, 11:28:39 PM
Sorry Bitsyncom, but you are completely full of shit.  Completely.  You have repeatedly stated that it's "impossible" to do things, yet somehow BFL manages to do the "imposisble."

Why do you continually prod me with a stick?  I have left you alone to go do your own thing with your ancient technology and your ridiculously immense power requirements, yet you want to keep antagonizing me.  Why is that?

I really hope you have something to show on Monday, you have about 24 hours to produce, so we'll see then.  The fact of the matter is, though, no one is going to buy your 1990's tech after we ship, so enjoy the few weeks of glory you will have if you can manage to ship a working product that doesn't melt.

if the imposisble is to announce numerous delays  and alienate others with cutting remarks such as 1990's tech, then yeah BFL has done quite a good job.

I dont have an order with any asic mfg. yet, but it looks like Avalon will be the first to market and the first choice customers. This far, they've shown the most definite shipping date, and even if they release a melting product on monday, it will still be leaps beyond the current state of Butterfly Labs' ASIC, which was supposed to be released In December.
3895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can Trading Options In The Stock Market Make You A Full Time Income? on: January 17, 2013, 12:40:50 AM
Yes and No.

In my experience, if you put in the right amount of time and effort you can make good money on stocks. theres two main practises that are best used in combination based on your risk/reward:

DIVIDENDS (LONG TERM): These are the backbone of the market. stocks that pay dividends give you a small fraction of the share price every quarter (3 months). The best companies constantly work to improve these payouts to attract more shareholders. Most dividend stocks range from 0.5% to 5% per year, which alone beats a bank account's interest. Then you also have the fact that the stock itself can gain value. (generally, big dividend corps are very stable or growing, but not always)

Examples:  Intel (ive gained 8% in the past 2 months, plus it has a 4.1% yearly dividend)
:  McDonalds (lost about 1% in the past 3 months, but pays ~3% yearly dividend)
: Carnival Cruise Lines (Gained 4% in last 3 months, also pasy about 3% a year in dividends)

SHORT TERM: These are stocks that are at a pivotal moment, or on a noticible growth pattern from a recent product demonstration or TV spot. Generally, these are purchased with the hopes of quicker, but riskier, gains. With good research of a company, you can make large profits from frequent buy/sell orders.

Examples: RIM (within the past 3 months, this company has gained nearly 100% with the upcoming BB10 series, and IMO theres still space to gain another 10-20% in the next 2 months)
: MEDBOX Cannabis dispensing (This is a wildcard company that stole the spotlight following the US law changes, going from $2-$3 to $215, and then collapsed and rose again rapidly several times in the past 2 months)
: AVT Inc. (AVTC) (This company recently shot from $1.50 to $6.50 upon its association with Medbox as a producer of the patented vending systems)

In my opinion, with the right tactics, and balancing long and short-term investments, you can easily make 5-15% per year on your investments. So if you want to live off the market, you really need to have >$500,000 to invest with.

is it in the same motherboard? if the processor is PHYSICALLY a different size, then you should be more concerned for the mobo then the heatsink that straps to the mobo

What did I just read?  Shocked

Seems to me, if you had a working test product, you'd have shown it by now, but maybe not.  Seems silly, though... if you wanted to be the first, you would show your working prototype, that would qualify you as first at this point.  What possible reason could you have for not showing a working unit 6 days before you are scheduled to ship?

Jesus quoted words just put Inaba in his place.

Moving beyond that, Inaba isn't even following his own critical views.

You dont give up? It was only about 3 days ago that you VERY PUBLICLY declared you would block or ignore inaba so that you wouldnt have to read his posts. Nonetheless, youre still swamping this thread with bickering and avalon advertisements.

ps: we get it: BFL is wayy behind target and has no prototype beyond some fancy cases and a huge copper heatsink (anyone know the reason that wasnt seen at CES booth btw?)

I am pretty sure he just wrote something laced with stereotypes just above me. Glad I cannot see it anymore.

The lovely anti-semite "joke" he tried to tell me at the end of our encounter was also classy.  I don't know if he thought I was Jewish or what?

No, he thought you were dumb. Which you are.

He in fact is Jewish. Hence he can't make anti-semite jokes. Only funny jokes. Grin
Oh boy, the same guy who made the piracy issue with at least one subset of Asians and the other crack [to me] about moping floors (just because I was of Hispanic descent?)

Cultural sensitivity? He's never heard of it apparently.

PuertoLibre, putting somebody on ignore because you hate thier posts doesnt mean you should read them in peoples quotes anyways for the sake of being able to return to an argument. You're the crazy person that says: "hey steve, can you tell THAT MORON to pass the salt"
