3901  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler's fallacy, does it exist? on: March 25, 2015, 05:27:43 PM
https://i.imgur.com/t5ojcW2.png

Many gamblers believe that getting further into a loss/win streak becomes less unlikely as the streak's number gets bigger. Gambler's fallacy says that each bet is calcuated individually and only it's chances of win/loss are the ones that count.

You can click on the image for a wikipedia link. What do you think?

The bolded statement is incorrect. (It is called math, not gambler's fallacy Tongue)

See definition below:

It absolutely exists; I lost almost all my balance because of that. twice now.

I got too many 7s in roulettts and lost too a few days ago.(lucky this one was a bonus code)

Edit: You got that 'Gambler's fallacy says that' part wrong. It is just the opposite.

Does not exist. Please look up variance or playing on a rigged site. The Gambler's Fallacy statement itself is correct.

Wrong. Gambler's fallacy exists.

You and OP are defining it the wrong way.

DEFINITION of 'Gambler's Fallacy' When an individual erroneously believes that the onset of a certain random event is less likely to happen following an event or a series of events.

It exists means there are people who erraneously believe that.

Well Gambler's Fallacy is derived from the law of large numbers. Of course if you flip a coin 10,000 times with all heads, the next flip is still a 50/50 but the odds of that happening are really low.

--snip--

That would be the chances of getting 10.000 heads in a row if im not mistaken

That is definitely not right. The odds of getting 10 heads in a row is 0.09% . And not the figure you have posted.

Any questions? Tongue

(If you are confusing '.' and ',' read : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_mark#Countries_using_Arabic_numerals_with_decimal_point
Easy way to identify is if there are 3 zeroes, it is thousands and not a decimal point usually.)

3904  Economy / Services / Re: [0.25 BTC Contest] - LazyCoins Signature Design on: March 25, 2015, 07:55:59 AM
Just as a tip, don't accept submissions from: izagani, roslinpl, medUSA, or ndnhc.

They usually use stolen work, etc.
You were flaming ndnhc in the da dice thread, and now you are including others in your flamewar. I received a PM from izagani asking me to look at your accusation, however you have not presented any proof in this claim or in the da dice thread.

I am curious to know why you are making such claims without presenting any evidence.

He just thinks I am everyone. (indicates his above average intelligence)
And he hates me for some weird reason. I haven't been able to find out why, yet. Wink
3905  Economy / Services / Re: Need a signature design on: March 25, 2015, 07:54:41 AM
I can do this , check out my thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=788233.0)
or
check out medUSA , Look  my ledgerwallet signature.
He's made this masterpiece and many more

izanagi = ndnhc = roslinpl = medUSA

Wow. Such cleverness Very detective.
How did you know I was izanagi, rosinpl, medUSA all along?

(You still missed Theymos Wink)

Edit: lmao Cheesy

from another thread:

Awhile ago I swear I saw someone copy an old sig and re-use it for a contest and win.

And I'm like 60% sure that those 4 are the same person

Edit2: Just clarifying, all three are great designers. Smiley

Dear ndnhc

Repaste my sig already  Smiley

Will enroll you tomorrow after the current week is officially over and the spreadsheet is duly updated.

Your post quality needs improvement. Tip: Start and engage in quality discussions. Wink
3909  Economy / Services / Re: DADICE.com Signature Campaign - The BEST Yet | HIGHEST RATES! | JOIN THE FUN! on: March 24, 2015, 08:59:48 PM
Maybe my question should have been "how do you determine the grade of a participant?"

Okay, that is accurate. Yep, it depends on post quality.

Any chance on clarification? This whole 'here's a rate and succes with getting "better"' is slightly frustrating Smiley

lol, we cannot write an essay about 50 participants every week, about their post quality. That is why we grade it. It is indicative info so that participants can know where they stand. Wink
Grade is relative. If your post qualiy seems good, you will get a good grade. Above average, higher grade. If someone makes useless posts, lower grade. C,C+ is average. could improve. Smiley

I didn't exactly get what you asked. If this answers your question, please confirm/reply. Else do restate the question.

Thanks Cheesy
3910  Other / Meta / Re: What did theymos do with 200K? on: March 24, 2015, 08:46:17 PM
Yeah, 1.5 million dollar forum is really cool.
It is really a great thing to look forward to. Wink

Theymos did the right thing of course (after reading first few replies). I suppose the funds can't be used for anything else than developing the forum.

For hookers, beer and throwing a party for 475,204 total members
With 1.5 million we could spend a staggering 3 dollars for each user, buy everyone a cheap beer on this forum.
How bout lets have a vote Wink 3 dollars in btc each or new forum  Grin
Jokes aside, looking forward to the new forum

Don't do it per user, there'd be plenty of idiots getting 700 beers delivered.

lol. Cheesy

3912  Economy / Gambling / Re: Negative house edge on: March 24, 2015, 08:07:55 PM
It is accepted by most here that a positive house edge will ultimately wipe out your deposit (rather sooner than later). But we could try to look at this issue from another angle. That is, whether the house is predetermined to lose in the long run if it had a negative house edge? As I see it, a positive house edge doesn't guarantee per se that a casino won't suffer heavy losses, but why should it necessarily suffer them if it had a small negative edge (to attract new users)? In other words, how long will it take till we see a casino claiming just that?

I've never seen a mention of the negative house edge here, so I decided to create a new topic on this issue (and added a poll)

According to what I learned, the users will lose in the end, assuming bankroll of player < house and there is a max bet limit.

The player will go on playing till he lose everything.
3913  Economy / Services / Re: The BitSig Signature Campaign Bot. Campaign Managers - Look No Further! on: March 24, 2015, 07:55:53 PM
The fee depends on what you'd like it for (a 200+ participant campaign, small scale campaign or fixed rate campaign, etc)

The advantages in my opinion are that it is much easier to manage participants and check campaign-wide stats for posts made, excluded posts (whichever board you want not to count), look into detail at each participant and track payments. It makes it much less of a hassle to organise and run a campaign. There is no need to constantly check for new enrolments, rather you have alerts whenever someone enrols successfully.

Additionally, you can have different rates per board (add 0.0001BTC per post made in the gambling section for example) which is something DaDice wanted to do (I think).

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. Smiley

The spreadsheet of DaDice can't auto-exclude posts made in excluded threads, (I know how to do it, but it is too bulky for 50 or so participants) and it is pretty useless when the counting is done manually. Yep, I need to check for new enrollments all right. Other than that no issues.
If someone buys/hires etc. your bot, the escrow will hold the funds till the campaign ends? and auto-payouts will be managed by you or the buyer?
Just curious.
No, we don't want different rates now. Our participants voted otherwise, and so shall it be. Wink

Thanks Smiley
3914  Economy / Services / Re: The BitSig Signature Campaign Bot. Campaign Managers - Look No Further! on: March 24, 2015, 07:33:59 PM
Got a few questions.

What is the negotiable fee? Is it fixed/depends on the length of the period?

What is the advantage of this bot over a simple, free, manageable, transparent spreadsheet?

C- is lower than C or C+

What does it take to get a "c" rating or better?

Post quality. Smiley
(A is a lot better than C. I suppose you know that??? I got a little confused by your question)

I got a C if you want to take the time and review my posts. Also, since I'll be talking in this thread please exclude these posts from the campaign. Thx.

Sure, this thread is excluded from counting. Smiley

How do you tell what your grade is? I looked on the google docs but I didn't see it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

There's a second page to the spreadsheet, on my browser i can find it by clicking on a tab near the bottom left called "post counts".

Found it. I got a C with 66 posts. I like this constructive post grade they are giving out. I'm gonna try harder this week with my posts. But I can clearly see why the A's are A's. Take Quickseller for example. He submits some very constructive posts and are very elaborate. GJ Quickseller. I like the btc, don't get me wrong, but I want a A!!!

That is the spirit, mate. Cheesy

Seems as though i've missed the cut by '2' posts this week. Conveniently just under the cut off point for a 2nd week running. Never actually got a payment from this campaign yet, so going to leave for now as I'm not giving away free advertising as my posts are not up to scratch.

Best of luck to everyone

Dang! But, why did you remove your signature?

Well, we will pay ya anyway Smiley
Please don't remove the signature before the period is officially over at 00:00 UTC/GMT.

3920  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pocket Dice – The first realistic dice game on: March 24, 2015, 05:33:59 PM
I wanted to verify that it is Provably Fair, but can't seem to.

Technical Implementation
We generate 30 initial random numbers ranging from 1 to 6.
We generate random server seed.
The initial numbers are hashed using hash('sha256', json_encode($initial_numbers) . $server_seed). The resulting hash is made public.
When you start a game, we use javascript in your browser to create a client seed.
The initial numbers are shuffled calling Fisher-Yates shuffle with client seed.

Where do I find the resulting hash before a bet is made?

I thought PocketDice had something called support? I didn't get any reply email.

So, you admit that this game is not Provably Fair?

In that case, you may considering refunding my loss there. It is around 6 BTC.

Edit: OP has not been online since 21. I will try to contact again by email.

Ohh fuck!
6 btc? At least they should take care about the customers and reply back.
So this site turned it to a scam site? Its not fair.
I would not play never again here! Thanks for info m8

Well, they cleared it up in the email I finally received. (about now)

The system is provably fair. Sorry for the panic. I just wanted to verify a few rolls and tried to do it in the method followed by a few other sites. I didn't know it will be mentioned in the previous roll.

Thanks.
