anyone who actually uses gox if they do become resurrect, want their heads read.
anyone who used it after its first "delay" problems did.
And got it.

If people actually still used gox after this then I don't even know what to say. It blew my mind that people were using it for the last 5 months.

I wouldn't say that. If they clearly distance themselve from all personell and start fresh with a completely new and safe software and provable nonfractional reserve. I would use them then!

With Bitcoin you can generate a private key offline without compromising the security (no need 1 out transaction to secure the account as in the case of NXT)

This is indeed true. But the creator implemented this as a feature.

Our dev said, that he will implement a way to broadcast a publickey for any privatekey without sending a transaction.

Also there is a good solution for this now. You can fund an account that never saw the internet. Then sign a transaction offline, and then broadcast it withanother client to the network. This is as secure as BTC coldstorage.

Quick question, can I put a refcode in my sig, or do i need to remove it?

You wont get any referrals from it yet either way. Stunna seems undecided whether he'll allow them or not, but I'm sure all will be revealed with the release of PD3.

Ok, looking forward to that Smiley

After all the COinbase/MTgox ect leaks, there are so many hacking and phishing attemps. It is so sick Sad

Cold storage is the way to go now IMO. Atleast for everything over 1 BTC!

Is that the right way to reindex and txindex the chain?

bitcoind.exe -reindex -txindex=1

Yes, that's correct. You can also set txindex=1 in the bitcoin.conf file and start bitcoind with -reindex.

hmm, When i open the gui.exe now, it doesn't bring an error, but the wallet is just the frontpage of the homepage. Nothing about any CHA there. Please help^^

If this whole liquidation is streched out over many years, the return for claims might be in the lower single digits, because for certain regulations, the BTC that were found will need to be liquidated to pay for the costs, this could lead to them being sold at ~400$ level, what a shame..
Not really. They have several millions in fiat. They have nearly 50% of what they owe in fiat, on the other hand they have only 200k of the 750k btc they owe. I expect them to handle it they way other countries do; so they will probably view bitcoin debt and fiat debt equally. Since they have more fiat in comparison they will most likely pay the costs with fiat and maybe even use some of it to pay of btc creditors.

What other county? This is a unique case. Never until now where BTC part of a liquidation process of a LLC. They will most likely be treated like you would treat inventory and claims on that inventory. A liquidation always ends with equal debtors receiving the same cut. There won't be a difference in the % of payout in the BTC and FIAT debtors, if they are treated the same.

So yeah, maybe they will use the fiat money, but there is a high chance that all that gets paid out will be in Fiat, and everyone gets fucked Wink

There are many merits and failings of both brain wallets and desktop wallets. To be honest, I think it's just a matter of personal preference...

It's an interesting discussion, but I think it's pretty much a finality that NEM will be using a desktop wallet system. A poll on the forum a while back, plus a general browse on forums, shows that desktop wallets are preferred by the vast majority of people.

Perhaps the fact that this discussion is happening indicates that a new wallet system is needed, a hybrid of brain and desktop wallets. Perhaps something for the NEM developers to think about in the future?

I'm not one for online wallets to be honest. In fact i'm not one for anything "online" based as i feel i have far less control over the security of whatever it is in question (Whether that be software or, in this case, currency)

A hybrid would be ideal. This to me was the biggest downfall of NXT as online storage has more cons than pro's.

Offspring for Nxt (Win/Mac/Linux) supports local wallets, I believe:

True. You can save your coins on your PC with offspring.

At its core, NXT is using a brain wallet. I'm not sure how you can save coins to your PC, unless you are referring to backing up the pass-phrase? Even so, it seems like they could still be unlocked by the network. Or am I missing something?

You know BTC is a brain wallet too right? The wallet of the QT is just a clientside implemention...

The more you know Wink

I am not the tech guy but I think you are mistaken. Private-public key design is different from brain wallet design.

Why do you think that?

i love the comments XX is expected to go to price Y this year .....

Expected by whom? Only by the person who posted it Wink

Ask yourself same simple questions.

What does make the coin/project special?

- A real competitive advantage. Not some minor changes like, a bigger coinsupply or something.
- Is this coin a complement or substitute for Bitcoin?
-etc..

Lol +1
There's a lot of prophets in here..

Yeah, many people aquired magical glassballs to beat the market Wink

The fundraiser started only some hours ago and there is already >5BTC invested. I predict we will reach 230 BTC within 5 days!

I just think you are too optimistic. Actually, we should better predict this after two or three days passed

Not saying my prediction is accurate, but it is my single best guess at this point in time!

Who cares about a clone of a premined coin with a stupid name? Who cares about NEM?

You, why else bother wrinting a post for that?

NXT IS AWESOME - PART 2

Did you know that you can forge blocks within the NXT network without having to invest into an expensive mining hardware like with BTC? Every laptop and pc is powerful enough to run the resourcefriendly client and forge blocks. It even runs on a rasberry pi!

Proof: NXT client + forging on a solar powered rasberry pi!

Many people that want to hurt NXT say that it is impossible to forge blocks and participate in the network without investing much money. This is obviously not true. Here are some screenshots of people forging with very little amounts of NXT and succeding in finding blocks:

This guy even forged a block with less than 700 NXT!

NXT IS AWESOME - PART 1

Did you know that NXT is currently valued at 0.028 cent ($) but still has a higher marketcapitalization than much longer existing altcoins like Namecoin, Primecoin, Feathercoin or Novacoin. Even the very big and active DOGEcoin community values its currency lower than our NXT capitalization.

But don't take my word for it, look at the facts:

Looks like OP sold his account.

Atleast this is gonna be some fun now Cheesy

Source?

Without a source just looks like a hacked account.

"looks like" implies that it is just a possibility.

Stolen/hacked/giveaway/sold... all the same!
