3901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will replace the Silver Marketcap on: February 20, 2021, 05:30:25 PM
In my opinion it really doesn't make that much sense celebrating when bitcoin overtakes marketcaps of certain companies. Silver though? Significantly a bigger deal, and it ain't really that far off from here— we only need approximately 45% increase from here.

Yeah, I agree, those are just numbers though, so it's no biggie if we see bitcoin overtaking "X company" or "X commodity".

On the other hand, bitcoin overtaking gold? Now THAT's a huge huge deal.

Bitcoin needs to get x10 to overtake gold, so that's a significant amount of capital that needs to flourish to bitcoin market. So it might take years to happen, and I don't know where that huge influx of money will come. Unless the world will go full bitcoin in the next 10-20 years to replace Gold as a store of value and being used by government as hedge.
3902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hit 1 trillion dollars marketcap on: February 20, 2021, 09:47:02 AM
This is the first time ever bitcoin reached 1 trillion marketcap in dollars, this proves bitcoin as the new age asset. In just 11 years, bitcoin hit 1 trillion dollars. I have just checked this on coinmarketcap. The price of bitcoin at the time is $55,5329 and with a marketcap of 1.03 trillion dollars. Institutions and many people are buying bitcoin which makes its marketcap to reach this great value.

Yes, it is not even compared to other big companies as far as valuation is concern, but the comparison stop there. Remember 2017, when the whole crypto was about $1 trillion and not bitcoin alone with 60% dominance having reach $1 trillion is just short amount of time.

And this is just the beginning, as more people grow interest specially in this bull run, wouldn't be surprised that it will double in the next coming years.
3903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australian Open 2021: WOMEN - SEMI-FINAL on: February 20, 2021, 09:27:31 AM
I didn't expect the direct set winning from Osaka. I expected strong fight between the two, fortunately from the beginning Osaka kept her lead and won the game with ease. For Serena Williams it is big blow in her history of missing grandslam title. In her press meet too, she fell into tears as she wasn't able to accept the loss against Osaka. With the game played by Osaka, I too believe Australian open title is for Osaka.

Makes me think that Serena is facing a version of herself in Naomi when they face each other. Of course it is the better version of herself and it's sad to see her as she broke into tears during her press conference.

What are your thoughts of the Medvedev vs Tsitsipas on the mens side. It's hard to break down the game, Medvedev is very consistent but Tsitsipas is very hot in this tournament.

Going to be five setter for this two, I reckon but I think Medvedev will edge Tsitsipas in a gruelling match.

I would also go with medvedev as the favorite in this match, but only by a very small difference. Medvedev is playing like a machine and is able to reach his top performance or at least close to that in most of his matches.
Tsitsipas can beat anyone if he has his day so it all depends on him how he feels that day and how long he can play at his best level.
But no matter what, the winner of this match will probably lose to djokovic  in the finale anyway.

Yes, Medvedev made Tsitsipas work very hard and never give him a chance to rest in their match. And I would say it was a tactical match that he played. And maybe he has tired from the Nadal that it sap all his energy against Medvedev.

Medvedev vs Djokovic for the finals, depends on how Djokovic's injury (real or not), but I'm leaning towards Medvedev to upset Djokovic here.
3904  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Miguel Berchelt vs Oscar Valdez WBC Super-Featherweight Title on: February 20, 2021, 07:31:59 AM
Miguel Berchelt reminds of the "El Matador" Ricardo Mayorga, the way he throws his punch, , doesn't look very technical but very effective, and the work rate. Oscar Valdez is more technical though obviously, but he needs to brawl with Berchelt and he should be ready for the volume punches coming his way and he should also throw the same level of badness with every punch.

Right, but he throws a lot of punches in that style and it is very very effective, it's like he suffocate his opponent with the huge amount of punches he throws per round. I don't know how can someone prepare for that though, it will be difficult as you have to either move backward or fight fire with fire with Berchelt.

And since he is the stronger guy here, Valdez needs to be very careful as he might caught from time to time with uppercuts and left and right overhand.

Counter punching is the best strategy to use if the opponent loves to move forward, with one solid counter punch, that could end up the fight and the underdog here will win. Just take for example the fight of Manny vs Marquez (the last fight), Manny is already for a kill but Marquez hit him with a good counter punch that sent him into the canvass and he was not able to get up anymore.

I agree a good counter puncher will negate an offensive puncher just like Miguel Berchelt, that's why this is really going to be technical for Valdez if he really wanted to him. We can't complain with his left hook at it also devastated a lot of fighters he face, so that will be his best weapon against a come forward Miguel Berchelt.

Notice though that he is square in his two feet when he throws successive power punch. Maybe Valdez and his team saw this one, all Valdez will do is move and find the right angle to throw that counter right or left hook.
3905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Miguel Berchelt vs Oscar Valdez WBC Super-Featherweight Title on: February 19, 2021, 06:53:13 AM
^^ That's why the way Oscar Valdez and Ryan Garcia is throwing that left hook is very similar because they have the same trainer, and so is Canelo Alvarez.

Oscar Valdez highlights - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfswsx7qMD0

I checked those bitcoin address:

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1PFjPpBurRiz4BZY1RSQU8nv6zK5UJ7xBo - with 0.04610204 BTC

While the vanity address, https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1ChamathjZAYU66Ex4TgkKYbiESCCBeYTu - hasn't got any bitcoin yet. Although the first address has bitcoin on it, we can't be sure if they have victimised noobs already or it is their own bitcoin to make it more persuasive and think that it is indeed going to give back to those who are going to send. But this is obvious a trap and we do hope that no noobs are going to fall for this scheme.

3908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Motley Fool adds Bitcoin to model portfolio *and* buys some too on: February 19, 2021, 03:28:50 AM
Absolutely. At first I thought about price manipulation, but I don't think their image could withstand that.

it wouldn't be the first time someone manipulated a market for personal gains and it won't be the first for bitcoin either. we even had big banks such as JPMorgan manipulate the price to buy bitcoin cheap after the drop after their FUD.

And JP Morgan is still at it, JPMorgan thinks the bitcoin rally is unsustainable and doesn’t make much sense

And as per their twitter:

https://twitter.com/themotleyfool

$5m is still $5m and it can make a lot of difference in the price whatever angle we look at it. And I think they are betting most on the #3 reason.
3909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 18, 2021, 11:32:39 AM
Nice one, we are on the same side, I'm not convincing anyone to bet on Jazz as I don't get anything from that, but Jazz has been playing so well, they were in a long win streak before, loss one game and then starts a good run, that's how good they are as a team, can't bet against a streaking team at this moment especially against the Jazz which everyone is contributing.
And, we are right.  Wink
They cannot stop Gobert. 23 points and 20 rebounds, one heck of a game for him.
When it comes to defense, Utah is in hierarchy than the Clippers.

Another game which was great was GSW vs Miami Heat. From a 13 point lead by the Heat gently being taken away by the Warriors that ended in an overtime. Curry just suddenly wore his hot hands again in OT after a bad 2nd half giving the GSW a win.

The old Steph Curry, putting the dagger 3 in the last 15 seconds. Bazemore though is the spark, coming with a big 26 points to help the team and so is Wiggins and Oubre Jr.

Gobert has been so dominant in the last couple of days together with Clarkson. These two are the main reason why Utah Jazz is on a winning streak. And with Anthony Davis not playing, I think they can beat Lakers in their next game.
3910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Physical Attacks getting more serious on: February 18, 2021, 10:51:33 AM
I agree, just have a discussion with some of my bitcoin enthusiast friends and this is what we don't want to happen to us, The $5 Wrench Attack.

In 2018, we decided to print T-shirts with bitcoin (BTC) logo and try to go to public places and raise awareness. However, this 2020-2021, we think that this is a bad idea as you don't know, criminals are always around the corner and you could be their target, specially wearing a shirts screaming that you are a bitcoiner, not a good idea anymore.
3911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australian Open 2021: WOMEN - SEMI-FINAL on: February 18, 2021, 09:44:07 AM
It's over now, Osaka win in straight sets, never give Serena a chance to even score a set, 6-3 6-4.

Naomi looks very powerful and her game is spot on, even on the long rally, which Serena is known to hold, was Osaka as she always beat Williams to the point. Perhaps Mother time has caught with Serena.

Here are the high lights,

3912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australian Open 2021 Discussion thread on: February 18, 2021, 08:44:17 AM
A surprise to me, Tsitsipas win in a 5 sentence crime Nadal. I'm already looking forward to the surprise of the tournament Aslan tomorrow, even if it will be very very difficult against Djokovic. So i'm exciting

We seldom see Nadal breaking down after winning the first 2 sets, so I was wrong in my prediction that he will win and good work for Tsitsipas for winning. The Djokovic vs Karatsev will be next, let's see how long Djokovic can extend his winning with a supposedly injury.

Osaka defeated Serena in straight sets, and with that win, it's obvious that she will be the favourite to win in this tournament regardless of who she is going to face the in the finals.
3913  Economy / Economics / Re: We, bitcoiners, should buy a bank on: February 17, 2021, 10:10:05 AM
Unless someone who's worth billions of dollars do this, I think this kind of idea is quite hard to achieve. I know some whose accepting crypto through machines but still fail to do succeed. Exchanges are now just enough.

I don't like the idea as well, exchanges are good enough and they are now asking like a centralised banks if we have to take a closer look, KYC, with some restrictions when we want to withdraw etc.

So we don't need to have a bank, everyone should learn how to take care of our accounts and protect our assets, those banks are just going to take a cut from our profits.
3914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We should not buy outdated and overvalued coins on: February 17, 2021, 09:37:09 AM
One of your outdated coin though, ADA is still on the top list of altcoins and making good grounds in the last 2 years so I don't know how can you call them outdated. So we can't say that some coins are outdated and overvalued when they are in the top 20.

So your argument is flawed in the beginning. How about new coins in your list and let's say moving forward 3-5 years from now, will they be outdated as well? And there are some outdated coins still in the market but they are undervalued. So there is no formula here, depends on how crypto people are going to support new and innovative coins.
3915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs. Avni Yildirim - February 27 on: February 17, 2021, 08:25:11 AM
Canelo: I'm Not Underestimating Yildirim, One Punch Can Change Everything.

Quote
"None of that [is happening], I do feel superior and I am superior to Yildirim," Canelo said to George Ebro.

"But I'm training like it's my biggest fight and I'm not underestimating him at all. I know this is boxing and one punch can change everything. It's not in me to underestimate anyone.''

Good attitude coming from Canelo, we all know that there are boxers who really underestimate their opponent because they think they are superior, or thinking about the next big fight. But we always see a different result. And I think this separates Canelo to the rest of the boxers, because of this kind of attitude and that is why he is very successful in his career.
3916  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australian Open 2021 Discussion thread on: February 17, 2021, 08:04:52 AM
Karatsev is definitely the biggest surprise of this tournament.
He also beat Dimitrov and is now in the semifinals. How long will this tennis fairy tale last?
Osaka won convincingly and remains one of the main favorites in the women’s competition.
I expected Halep to offer stronger resistance to Serena Williams and I even thought she would beat Serena.
Obviously Serena has prepared very well for this tournament and is chasing a record number of GS titles.

Yes, the dark horse and the giant killer in this tournament.

Osaka is strong in this tournament, while others are faltering because of the current situation, it seems she is enjoying every bit of it and I wouldn't be surprised if she gets past Williams and be the first one ladies to reach the finals.

All Russian Rublev vs Medvedev, and then we have Nadal vs Tsitsipas in men's QF. I have Medvedev and Nadal winning here.
3917  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC HIT $50000🎯 on: February 17, 2021, 06:37:17 AM
I've seen in WO thread that actually it is $60,000 is the main target this year and up this means we are still waiting for another 10,000 before making decisions and this will surely change the movement of market when it reached.

The options market believes that 100K is a very distant possibility and very few of the traders are betting at that level. Most of them believe that by the end of this year, the maximum upturn that Bitcoin may get is around 60K-70K. However, I am a bit more optimistic. Given the supply crunch in the market right now, a single trigger (which may come from one of the giant corporations) may take Bitcoin beyond the 100K level.

And $100k is not that far though, it will just be x2 so that is doable, and thing is that we have like 10 more months to accomplish and see it hitting 6 figure mark so that is really achievable. And as others have said, this is already an achievement, just one major milestone that we really need to see with our eyes and then we want more.

And yes, bitcoin won't simply stop just because we hit that whole margin, on the contrary the next stop will be $60k. As I believed more companies are going to join the wave of new investors.
3918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: February 15, 2021, 09:44:04 AM

For Lebron James, this amount is very small as he is one of the biggest earner in NBA, so let's wait if he will get fine for this.
Yep, he can pay up those fines without any sweat or issue but the impression of fans or people cant really be bought or exchange by money. Im starting to dislike Lebron after seeing this one.

This is not the only one, maybe fans have forgotten the past flops committed by Lebron, you'll see a lot of flop by him in youtube.

I'll give you one video that I found, by the way it's not mine nor I'm promoting this video.

Top 10 LeBron James FLOPS
Arent flop penalties are way too small? These should be increased up so that players would really be hesitant on making these actions.
Its never been appealing to look these incident on where they do been given out with some freethrows or foul calls even its obvious
that it was just a flop.

Doesn't matter if he can pay the penalties for flop because obviously he can.

The question is, with Lebron's stature in the NBA I think the referees are giving him a free flop and we can say that they are allowing him to do his flopping. It's pretty obvious that this is a flop, even the two players are having a good laugh at it because they know what Lebron did here.

Lebron should stop this, not good for him and his legacy.

Djokovic admitted that he injured himself

[..snip..]

His career is littered with evidence of his fake injury claims. We don't have to look any further than this same tournament last year and his miraculous 'injury' recoveries in the semi-final and final. Absurd.

I'm not aware that Djokovic is claiming fake injuries in his career. However, we all know that in the last years or so, he has a lot of these controversial statement in his personal life so I wouldn't be surprised if this is true.

And not that he won against Raonic and people saying that he is somewhat very though mentally, it's beginning to unravel the extend of his claims about his past injury. And yes, this is really absurd not telling the truth and lying to his fans.
3920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How long do you think this bull market will run and why? on: February 14, 2021, 09:15:05 AM
The whole scenario is completely different from the recent bull-market due to institution's involvement. Whenever there is a price correction, they jump in to buy more. This might last longer than everyone is expecting, no one can tell how high can prices can get, everyone is left out in the dark because the market can drop anytime soon and when it drops it will drop big time for sure.

Right, there are so big players today, not individual but huge companies like Tesla who recently released the official documents that they have invested $1.5B in the crypto market. So this is very different bullrun, unlike 2017.

So this might really be longer than we expect, like the four year cycle, it could last for six years or even more as more investors are now going full crypto, even banks we hated bitcoin is not thinking ahead because of Tesla's news.
