I've never heard of Mac McClung before. I see he wasn't even playing in the NBA. I don't know why they allow G-League players to participate in NBA All-Star. He deserved to win though.

Slam Dunk contest in case you missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awLQ_A33H9Y

They allow Kevin Hart before to have an exhibition match on 3 point shooting contest before with Draymond Green. Having G-League is not surprising anymore if he showing an impressive performance on his league. Viewers like a wild card on this kind of event since this is an exhibition contest before the Playoffs.

He is the Rookie of the year on G-League last 2021-2022 even though he keeps changing team. I think he is a potential star.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/allstar/2023/02/18/mac-mcclung-wins-nba-dunk-contest-all-star-weekend/11294530002

He already got his chance in the NBA. He was too much of a defensive liability and too small to really use his skills in a game with top level players. He’s still young enough where he might get another shot and it sounds like the Sixers might give it to him, but unfortunately I think he’s missing the NBA body needed to be a factor. A shame because he has the skills and athleticism.

Mac McClung took home the dunk contest trophy and rightfully so. He also had the dunk of the night with a 720 which was absolutely ridiculous. That was easily the best dunk since Aaron Gordon’s under the legs over the mascot dunk. This year’s contest was a big step up from last year’s. Hopefully next year we get to see Zion Williamson do something special…
3923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 19, 2023, 02:15:20 AM
All-Star weekend is in full swing with the three point competition currently underway. You know what that means… The Slam Dunk Competition is coming up soon. While this year’s competition is full of names you may have never heard before, it should be a high flying competition. Get to a TV and turn on TNT so you don’t miss out. There are supposed to be some never before seen dunks this year.
3924  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 18, 2023, 06:54:27 PM
Biden has come out and said that the American taxpayer is now going to provide social support for Ukraine so that their people can have some “pocket money” for spending. This is absolutely insane. American taxpayers are already carrying a debt of a quarter million dollars per person for their share and now have to support Ukrainians? Absolutely insane. Not a penny more for Ukraine. Let this war end for the sake of everyone involved.
3925  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin go back to 19000 on: February 18, 2023, 06:33:16 PM
I think there’s a possibility we may never see $19K again. Sure, we’re still close enough to it that a piece of bad news can take us there, but I think the reason we got that low was due to FTX being run like a roulette wheel in a casino. That sort of collapse I don’t believe is in the cards again. I think we’re due for a recovery and once some choppiness liquidated enough people we’ll be headed up for another leg.
3926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 18, 2023, 06:31:20 PM

It's a little different in that the splash brothers were shot dominant on theor team.  I actually think the Suns ran by cp3 is a better fit for Durant.  Cp3 will put Durant in perfect position to slide right in and be the offensive force they need side by side with Booker.  Paul doesn't care if he gets his shots off.  Can't wait to watch this work gonna be fun.  As a knick fan glad to see him off of the Nets too lol.

Just as every analysis says that the Suns were automatically got the favor to win the championship this year after the KD acquisition. This team could be the perfect team, COULD BE, all because CP3 is a good offensive facilitator. Now, all they need to do is to be healthy for the remainder of the season and most especially in the playoffs.

That is the big question, they should remain healthy specially throughout playoff, it's so crucial that a one game miss could mean losing or winning that series. CP3 and KD has history of being injured in playoffs though, and they are not as young.

A healthy Suns is gonna be a hell of an opponent, simply because an opposing team cannot double team KD, Booker, CP3, and Ayton all at the same time. One defender may not be enough to guard either of these 4. So, that alone is going to be their advantage.  However, there could still be a lot of teams that could potentially beat them in a 7 game series, but if the Suns won't win it all this year, it  will going to be very shameful to them, as they seem to be the most stacked team in the NBA today.

But having a healthy Suns, the only team that I can see in the West that can much them is Denver Nuggets, it could be one hell of a series if they ever face in the WCF. Both healthy and it could go down to 7 game to settle the winner.

I think a healthy Lakers team might be able to make an impact in the playoffs. We have to see how their new lineup goes, if AD can stay healthy, and if they can sign Kevin Love. Never discount LeBron James in the playoffs. The Warriors also have a ton of experience so I wouldn’t count them out either.

Let’s see how the Suns look together before giving them the ring.
3927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Polygon (MATIC) to $20? on: February 17, 2023, 10:32:52 PM
It's notable that Matic is one of the most pumped coins in every market pump. Alongside with the news, we should consider some facts:
1- Although we are in a bear market, Matic is now the 5th Blockchain protocol in TVL (Total Value Locked).
2- Matic is one of the best assets with regards to development activities in the past two years.

The project development seems to be going on. That proves the team are serious, unlike a lot of projects with high market caps that stopped or slowed down the development of their products.

These metrics tells us there's more to MATIC "than meets the eye". I'm pretty sure this coin will "explode" in price after the next bull market. It might rise all the way to the top 5 ranks in market cap someday. If Solana went to around $200 per coin (even though it's an extremely-centralized and flawed chain), then Polygon (MATIC) could easily hit $20 per coin. Early holders of the coin like myself would become filthy rich if that happens. The cryptocurrency is still trading within the $1 range, so why not take the opportunity to grow your stack of coins for the future?

Depending on how popular MATIC gets, it's possible it could displace Solana as the leading chain for NFTs. Only then, it will compete with BNB as the third-biggest smart contract platform in the world. It won't compete with ETH directly, especially when Polygon relies on the ETH blockchain for security (sort of like a sidechain). With blazing-fast speeds and low gas fees, MATIC has everything it needs to reach mass adoption worldwide. Who knows how far will the cryptocurrency go? Just my thoughts Grin

It does seem like MATIC (Polygon Network) has the right partnerships to be a powerhouse in the next bull run.  They seem well positioned to be the chain of the metaverse and the affordable option for large companies to use to issue their NFTs.  I don't see any reason why MATIC won't continue to rise in value.  If BTC sees a x10 from here, I could easily see MATIC hitting $20, or maybe even $50 in the next bull run.  I think I would be a bit surprised if it didn't at least test it's previous all time high.  The only thing bearish about this coin is that it's already seen an incredible rise in value.
3928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helped my neighbor to purchase some Bitcoins on: February 17, 2023, 10:27:04 PM
There are people for whom the only way they have heard about crypto currency is from being referred to an airdrop by friends or through online ads, and this is my neighbor, who is one of them.

He asked me why not just leave the coin on Binance so that when ever he wants to sell it, he can just use the same method; that's when I brought to his notice "Not your key, not your coin," and he was convinced.

It really is a little hard to believe that a lot of people only know about crypto from ads...  I'll admit that a couple of my friends only got into crypto to buy SAFEMOON after seeing ads and being convinced it would be the next big thing.  I don't think they ever got into BTC either and now think crypto is a scam.

Kudos to you for helping your neighbor to get his hands on some BTC as well as informing him on the proper way to safeguard it from centralized services.  Slowly but surely I think the world will be convinced to put at least a little bit of their savings into Bitcoin.
3929  Other / Archival / Re: Historical Data on Bitcoin Bullish/Bearish Cycles on: February 17, 2023, 09:13:19 PM
This data would be more useful if it were in 4-year periods in my opinion. Trying to catch each movement and calling them bull markets while ignoring the obvious 4-year cyclical nature of Bitcoin’s price misstates what is actually happening. I think it’s a good attempt but just misses the mark on when bull and bear markets actually start and stop.
3930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: February 17, 2023, 08:38:53 PM
I really don’t like the new way that they’re naming these All-Star teams. It makes it difficult to gamble on who the winner is going to be when you don’t know what the teams are until the day before the game. It isn’t very respectful for the casuals that might not be available to place bets during such a short time frame. I hope the NBA does away with this draft stuff for the all star games.
3931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AVAX discussion on: February 17, 2023, 08:36:35 PM
AVAX makes a lot of claims but the only project that I’m aware of on that chain is The Gimmicks NFT collection which moved there from Solana for an unexplained reason. I actually think that MATIC is a much better coin in that space with a lot more support and partners. They’re direct competitors so I think AVAX has it’s work cut out for it.
3932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 17, 2023, 08:23:53 PM
Dollar cost averaging is obviously a good thing.

If you’re a chartist you probably think that this is a setup for a double top scenario, which might lead to shorting here since that is a bearish sign. However, I think a triple top is more likely, and that will probably the last bear trap before we see a jump up. So beware the double top and buy the dip of any triple top if such a pattern develops as we attempt to smash through $25K.
3933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi every created some sort of back door to alter BTC? on: February 17, 2023, 05:39:21 PM
I am not sure I am understanding you correctly.
Are you saying that it may be possible that Satoshi can change how bitcoin works? If so, you should know that bitcoin is an open-source project and there is nothing hidden from the people. Satoshi has no control over bitcoin network.

This. Developers publish source code for projects in order for independent researchers to check for things like back doors or possible malicious code. This in addition to wanting the best talent on earth to be able to improve code without restrictions. It is these reasons that led to satoshi making Bitcoin open source so that it could be trusted and improved by all those willing to do so.
3934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: February 17, 2023, 05:12:32 PM
I feel like this thread has become rather popular and it’s my bad that I haven’t yet given an example. I’ll try to make this a priority next week so that this is more than a thought exercise and people can see the actual real world results of using AI to predictively gamble on sporting events. I am fairly certain I know how to make it happen now, I just need to set aside the time to do it.
3935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 17, 2023, 05:10:40 PM
Even though they have same win number, Philly looks way better than Cavs. If this team stay healthy they will be a big trouble in the East. Embiid and Harden have a good chemistry. Melton, Tucker and Harris are good starters and they have Maxey as sixth man. The only problem I see is their narrow rotation. They should have at least two more reliable players in the rotation. Milton and Niang are there but I don't think that's enough. In case we see an injury it might blow Philly's chances.

They didn't make any move in the free market, they only got a decent back up center to Joel in Melton from the Miami Heat. The let go of Thybulle though, which I think is someone that can stretch them in rotation.

So what you guys think of the All Star?

NBA rising star challenge?

Team Deron vs Team Pau
Team Jason vs Team Joakim

I really don’t like the way they’ve changed the team names here. I used to like the freshman bs sophomore battles and it was easy to identify which team was which. I have no idea how these teams are arranged or who is on which team. It makes no sense that they’ve started doing this in an attempt to make the games seem more “street.” This is what happens when outsiders are in charge of things.
3936  Economy / Speculation / Re: How was your belief formed? on: February 17, 2023, 05:39:44 AM
For me it wasn’t an overnight thing. I slowly started working my way into Bitcoin by trying out all things Bitcoin related over time and growing more educated and comfortable with what risks I’m taking. I’m still learning but things have matured to the point where you just need to be aware of what to watch out for and if you’re safe and use BTC correctly the risks can be mitigated.
3937  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Let's build a competitor to OrdinalsBot.com on: February 17, 2023, 05:37:49 AM
Good luck. I think there’s plenty of space in this field for competition and that ultimately makes everyone better. I have lots of things I’d like to see added to Ordinals style NFTs and am watching this market to see what kind of innovation is happening. With web3 as a guide, I think there is still lots of functionality that could be added to NFTs on Bitcoin’s blockchain.
3938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 17, 2023, 05:33:47 AM
Looks like Phoenix is taking an L in the final game before the all star break. They could have used Durant tonight but it won’t be long now before we see his debut. Paul George had himself a game tonight that wasn’t totally reflected in the box score. He was making big plays and hitting hard shots all night. Eric Gordon looks like a great addition also.
3939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any successful ICOs or NFTs lately that ran bounty marketing here? on: February 17, 2023, 05:03:03 AM
I am trying to determine if it still makes sense to use Bounty for promotion of crypto projects - has there been any successful projects that actually used Bounty and then awarded bounty participants? In any niche, DNFs , Gaming, ICOs any type of fundraising campaigns

Nothing comes to mind. At least not recently. I think so many people were burned in 2018 by projects they believed in and invested their money into, that the community has become rightfully cynical of most of the offerings here. It’s a bit of a shame as that attitude will certainly hinder innovation, but at least it keeps people from throwing their money away in scams.
3940  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance to Airdrop $100 to Turkey Earthquake region affected users on: February 16, 2023, 09:49:26 PM
There's always (or at least nearly always) a motive when large companies donate large amounts of money. However, such moves are at least helping those in need, and in this case, $100 is a relatively decent amount for those who are suffering from the earthquake.
Exactly. Its popular (and usually for a good reason) to shit on all centralized exchanges and especially Binance (I do it too) but in these cases I'm trying to be a "glass half full" kind a guy and trying to look positives even though I suspect what's behind it. In the end, those people will get $100 in their account directly and that's what counts the most.

I agree that centralized exchanges are an issue the community still needs to solve, but as you said in this case it seems to be a positive thing.  Hopefully the funds aren't being sent in BNB, as that would be in poor taste and something that FTX would have done.  As you stated though, in the end the people get $100 which will probably not be life changing for anyone, but may help them get through this tough time until some real help can be sent their way.  Having funds sent directly to the people is a bit of a unique angle on a disaster that you don't see much and it's good that Binance is using their information to try and do good for people.  Hopefully those using fake regions for trading via VPNs aren't going to dip into this fund.
