I think the Bears will suck this year tbh.  We will certainly be a bit better than the Giants however that is for sure..not that that is saying very much lol.  Outside of Saquon Barkley the Giants are going to be very, very, very BAD lol.

If Cam stays in we will be fighting for the bottom right there with you! Cheesy

Agreed, they might also not reach the playoffs with Mac Jones. However, the trade deadline is on November. If the 49ers should resolve that they make Trey Lance their permanent no.1 quarterback before the deadline, is there a chance that Bill Belichick might try to get Jimmy Garoppolo?

No way not after taking Mac with the 1 this year and cam sitting there.  Jimmy isn't a huge upgrade.  Now if Aaron Rodgers becomes available that's a whole different story.

However, if Bill Belichick had the choice of only Cam Newton, Mac Jones or get Jimmy Garoppolo, who among these quarterbacks could be the most possible to bring the Patriots to the playoffs? Certainly this would be the return of Jimmy Garoppolo, I reckon.
3922  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Bull Attempts to Break $50,000 - A Psychological Hurdle as well as The Next on: August 26, 2021, 06:42:53 AM
It is best to add charts because they show the information you want to convey quickly.

Personally, I do not see that there is a psychological barrier at 50 thousand dollars, but rather at one trillion market capacity, which represents about 54K USD, and therefore all prices below this top mean that the price will fluctuate until it is broken, and therefore it is difficult for the price to return without that.
In other words, if the price breaks the 50K USD, it will not constitute a change, or we will not return below those levels (a psychological barrier).

The RSI in that chart might be wrong. All of the charts from major exchanges show a descending RSI and form a bearish divergence. Bitcoin is also presenty breaking the trend, however, if this day’s candle returns above this trendline it might be okay hehe.

What is everyone’s comment if Jack Mallers went to Afghanistan and talked to the Taliban leadership to bring his Strike technology to hyperdollarize the country through a stablecoin with bitcoin used only as the medium to send value similar to the original plan for El Salvador?

Why do you think the Taliban would embrace a new technology when it comes to people who are quite traditional and don’t allow some fundamental things like foreign music, movies, and beauty salons? Although it is true that they currently have a problem with payment services, because Western Union has currently blocked its service for Afghanistan, and $800 million in foreign remittances came through it.

I don't really want the Taliban to start using Bitcoin, do we want to link to terrorism, even though the US suddenly says they are no longer terrorists - what's next, an apology to kill Bin Laden and put Al-Qaeda on the list of friendly organizations?

That is outside the argument. I am only asking if Jack Maller’s original idea to hyperdollarize El Salvador through stablecoins would work in dollarizing a country in disorder similar to Afghanistan.

Also, it is not for you, me or anyone who dictates who should or should not use this technology. They might presently be using it and we do not know, similar to criminals use of American dollars in the black market.

The SEC chairman knows the government has no power over the internet in this age of VPNs, TOR and other privacy tools.

Sorry to burst your bubble but all of them proved to be total failures when the government actually wanted to track somebody! If the government doesn't send the military to knock at your door, break all your fingers and then ask you if you have downloaded stuff illegally doesn't mean it's not cable of doing so, it's just they don't want to.

In all the western world there was never a real war on privacy or what stuff is illegal or not on the internet, the governments only acted on serious cases, they let you have some freedom knowing too well they can cut it in a matter of seconds. No power over the internet? It takes one major ISP to power off its infrastructure and you're going to miss the old dial-up days.

Do not underestimate what they can do, if they want!

As for the title "desperation", sorry but I don't see anything like this, you would see a totally different course of action if they would be "desperate". What have they actually done other than talking and proposing stuff o a date?

You might be overestimating the government’s capabilities. Why then did they not stop those terrorists from crashing 2 airplanes on the twin towers and another one on the pentagon in the 911 incident?

Also, you reckon that the government can fully enforce their laws on the cryptospace? How would they know and stop me from sending 1 moneroj to pay someone who sold me an unlicensed firearm?

The SEC chairman knows the government has no power over the internet in this age of VPNs, TOR and other privacy tools. Also, no government regulations can enforce the law on a brave group of developers to break the law and have a community of progressive users who are motivated by profit.
VPNs can be banned, TOR may have a backdoor and fiat onramp/offramps will always be a barrier to privacy for large transactions. Yes, government regulations can enforce the law on developers. Developers may move to other countries, but the new world order will do everything they can to prevent themselves from losing the power they have through the banks.

Can they really enforce the law on an anonymous group of developers? They could not enforce the law on Satoshi. However, what the American government can do is classify some group of developers as terrorists, a scare tactic that they like to use hehe.

In any case, @everyone, do not be tricked by the government. The cryptospace is very much okay with the current regulations. Do not agree with them in giving themselves more power over you through new laws and regulations. Every bill they pass in congress is another limit on your freedom.

3930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulators are on next level desperate on Bitcoin and the cryptospace on: August 24, 2021, 02:56:54 AM
Correct or not, Gary Gensler’s argument that the cryptospace will not reach its potential outside their laws is funny.

It may be funny but probably correct. Cryptocurrency and all cryptocurrency-related products and services cannot thrive if they are declared illegal. If the law prohibits all of them, their potentials couldn't be reached. I am not saying they will cease to exist and even function, but probably minimally, underground, and definitely less attractive as its use would entail penalties.

If the government wanted the cryptospace to reach its real potential, why not leave it alone and only use existing laws to go after the scammers to protect the consumers? We were okay without regulations with the whole cryptospace market capitalization going to more than $1 trillion.

In any case, wait for those regulations and witness those who support it shake their heads because of trusting the government.

@DooMAD. Arguably leave the development alone or everything will move to where they cannot monitor and regulate it. However, these systems are decentralized enough and designed to continue working if they are classified legal or illegal by the government. Chinese citizens can still pay in cryptocoins, use Defi and trade with the use of an internet connection and privacy tools.
3931  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-11-08] Crypto industry seeks to build momentum after losing Senate fight on: August 24, 2021, 01:42:38 AM
I don't see how this is going to stint private cryptocurrency development?

Agreed, how will the government stop a community of developers on Github who work on different open source cryptocoin projects? I reckon the foundations and the companies behind these projects can use a different model based on privacy and no coin offerings.
3932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulators are on next level desperate on Bitcoin and the cryptospace on: August 24, 2021, 12:11:49 AM
He added that any platforms offering securities must be registered with the SEC, noting that many of the so-called decentralized finance (defi) platforms “actually have a lot of centralization” and they need to be registered with the SEC.

This might be one of those rare occasions where the regulators actually have a better understanding than most of the users.

It sounds like lots of people think these defi schemes are safe, but so many of them are going to get burned.  As I mentioned yesterday in this topic, interest doesn't magically come from nowhere.  It is almost certainly either centralised or an outright scam.  Whatever it is, it isn't truly decentralised finance.  Just a bunch of people jumping on a bandwagon to make a quick buck and being ignorant of the consequences.

Correct or not, Gary Gensler’s argument that the cryptospace will not reach its potential outside their laws is funny.

@avikz. We have existing laws already if scammers and fraudsters are what really the government is chasing. However, if you are talking about real regulatory framework, I reckon it would classify many coins as illegal securities. These projects are in the top 10 in coinmarketcap.com, have organized a presale or a coin offering and have never registered with the SEC. Ethereum, Ripple, Cardano, Binance chain, Polkadot and Solana.

This appears to me as a statement given by a person who is going through the 5 stages of grief and he is presently in the stage of bargaining hehehe. This is the 3rd stage before depression and then the last stage, acceptance.

The SEC chairman knows the government has no power over the internet in this age of VPNs, TOR and other privacy tools. Also, no government regulations can enforce the law on a brave group of developers to break the law and have a community of progressive users who are motivated by profit.

SEC Chairman: Cryptocurrency Won't Reach Its Potential if It Tries to Stay Outside Our Laws

SEC Chairman Gary Gensler talked about cryptocurrency regulation on Fox Business Thursday. Emphasizing that the SEC is focusing on investor protection, he said, “We are neutral about technology, bitcoin, and the other crypto tokens.” However, the chairman clarified that the SEC is “not neutral about investor protection.”

He added that any platforms offering securities must be registered with the SEC, noting that many of the so-called decentralized finance (defi) platforms “actually have a lot of centralization” and they need to be registered with the SEC.

He elaborated that these laws include money laundering laws, tax compliance laws, and “what we focus on at the SEC — investor protection.”

Binance has hired another expert in market regulations for its exchange in the jurisdiction of Singapore. How many months should we give him? I reckon not more than 6 months particularly if the cryptomarket continues the pattern of the bubble bursting every 4 years.

Binance Hires Former Abu Dhabi Global Market Head as Singapore CEO

The move provides an opportunity for to get ahead of the regulatory curve – a sore point for the exchange in recent weeks.

Binance has hired Richard Teng, the former CEO of Abu Dhabi’s financial watchdog, to head the exchange’s operations in Singapore, the company said in a press release on Monday.

Teng spent six years at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market as its head.
He also spent seven years as the chief regulatory officer of the Singapore exchange and 13 years with the Money Authority of Singapore, according to his Linkedin profile.

3936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: August 22, 2021, 06:57:25 AM
It will not matter how many times Casimero will show his middle finger because he did not have a good performance in his latest win. Nonito Donaire however, he shocked everyone in his latest win. I reckon that is a very good argument on why Nonito should be next.

Also, I read some replies that Inoue should be careful vs. Casimero hehe. How can you say this after his performance vs. Rigondoeux. Casimero showed poor boxing skills and was made into a chasing clown.

"Styles makes a fight", I'm not depending Casimero but though he looks bad on that fight against Rigo, he was doing a better job if we compare Donaire against Rigo six years ago if I'm not mistaken. If you put Inoue in front of Casimero then expect fireworks as both boxers would love to slug it out.

Casimero will not stop taunting Inoue until the latter have signed the contract because this could be the biggest purse of his colorful career.

I would certainly be a good fight for the real boxing fans, however, the money comes from the casual fans who might be biased on liking to watch Inoue vs. Donaire more than Inoue vs. Casimero. Bob Arum might also consider that Casimero is more dangerous for his pet Inoue hehehe. Inoue vs. Donaire is also a rematch which might make the fight better to promote for Arum.
3937  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-10] AMC will accept bitcoin as payment for movie tickets by year end on: August 22, 2021, 06:09:39 AM
I predict ticket sales through bitcoin will be low or be very close to none. This is because much of the bitcoin holders buy bitcoin to hold and sell later on a much higher price similar to stocks and commodities. However, if people were given jobs that pay in bitcoin, I reckon it would be different because if salaries are paid in bitcoin, those people would have no choice but spend them hehehe.

I would agree with you that most part of the Bitcoin holders won't be buying movie tickets with their BTC these days. But "none"? - No.

AMC is a big chain with, let's take pre-pandemic figures, 1,226,966,715 tickets sold in 2019. I'm sure, among so many people there will be millions of Bitcoin holders, and thousands of them will buy those tickets, even maybe just to buy something with BTC, just like Laszlo Hanyecz did one day.

Hehe I might be exaggerating, however, yes there will be ticket sales in bitcoin but the bitcoiners’ purchase of them would be more for virtue signalling than buying for the movie ticket. It will be big news only in the beginning. I predict AMC will remove bitcoin acceptance within 5 years because of very few sales through bitcoin or they might try to increase sales through crypto by accepting altcoins hehehehe.

If there will be very few sales, then AMC will not lose much even in the worst case scenario, like 50% drop in price in a very short period of time, or even 80% drop during a longer period while they were still holding the BTC from ticket sales. Think of it, why would they stop accepting Bitcoin if they could easily afford the losses, and, at the same time, be respected by the ever-growing crypto community?

I was only speculating that they would stop only because they might begin to see it as useless in 5 years, however, I also said that they might continue to try to increase sales from cryptocoins by accepting some of the altcoins.

Also, you might be correct, because their acceptance might also be through a payments processor that would convert the coins to fiat for them.

Am I the only one thinking that Pacman might be breathing more heavily? He might be beginning to get tired. The jabs are hitting Pacman very clearly without head movement. I reckon Ugas might steal this fight from Pacman by round 12.
3939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 22, 2021, 01:22:01 AM
That bicep appears to be very swollen. Pacman can clearly win this through a knockout or a stoppage from the referee. I reckon presently Ugas bettors must be very annoyed hehe. Are there Ugas bettors in here?

Also, I am afraid that there might be a chance that this fight might be cancelled. Are there pay per view buyers in here?
3940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: August 21, 2021, 05:16:20 AM
@Kemarit. However, there are no opponents for Inoue that Bob Arum can sell the fans in bantamweight unless it is versus Nonito Donaire or Casimero. I reckon the best plan to milk Inoue would be to fight Casimero, Donaire then move up to super bantamweight.

I guess Bob Arum should understand that there are only few fighters in the division that could give a good fight to Inoue and would give the fans the real entertainment they are looking for. Casimero is waiting, so why look for another fighter when one of the best is already in front of you, if this is all about money then boxing would be boring and maybe it's time that Inoue will consider changing his promoter if he wants real success in his career.

This is the first time I saw a fighter saying that he wants an immediate fight to a challenger but suddenly things change because the promoter came in because he realize his cash cow's future might be in danger.
