3941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: February 16, 2023, 09:44:35 PM
I think if you're in a country with high inflation and a tendency to use banks to rob the people, Bitcoin is a floatation device in a sea of horrific financial conditions.  I couldn't imagine living in a country with 100%+ inflation.  It's hard enough in the US with inflation where it is.  Having your savings taken from you by your bank, or inflated away to nothing by your government is a real problem that a lot of people face.  This is hard for westerners to comprehend, but I think as corruption becomes more clear in the west and governments become more desperate, the value that Bitcoin has for everyone will become quite apparent.
3942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: February 16, 2023, 09:30:32 PM
Ok, so he pleaded guilty on 4 counts and the next hearing is May 5. So one obstacle has been hurdled already, so hopefully then can go back to the negotiation table again and talk about the rematch clause and what not so that the deal can be sign by both parties and then announced the fight officially.

https://www.boxingscene.com/gervonta-davis-pleads-guilty-hit-run-case-baltimore-sentencing-set-5--172521

Everyone is still at the fence for this fight as we all thought that everything is smooth between two camps. So again, we will have to wait in the next couple of weeks, its already 2nd week of February, + 8 weeks or training or more for this two. Time is not on their side, they have to decide whether to make it April or before the next hearing of Davis.

I don't know...  Hit and run on a pregnant lady...  I think the only way he makes this fight is if he gets the case pushed back until after the fight.  I don't see any way he doesn't do some serious jailtime for this and when a high level fighter is subjected to jailhouse treatment for any period of time it usually doesn't end in good results for them.  You don't have to look further than Mike Tyson to know that.  It seems like Davis has been getting himself into a great deal of trouble lately and I think this could very well signal the end of his career as a fighter.  This Ryan Garcia fight, if it takes place, will likely be the climax of his story.
3943  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 16, 2023, 08:25:47 PM
Resistance is breaking down… We saw a brief burst through $25K but the market hasn’t been able to hold that level yet. As I stated before, I suspect if we do see a prolonged move above $25K and accumulation happening, we’re going to jump straight to $30K faster than anyone expects. Hopefully people were able to grab the FTX dip around $16K. I’ll admit I wish I bought more, but I’m happy to stick with the plan and watch it unfold.
3944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 16, 2023, 07:08:56 PM
Shams is saying that we could see a Kevin Love buyout anytime now. I hope he ends up on a contender…

We’ve got the Clippers vs Suns tonight on TNT. That should be a good one as the Suns appear to be mostly healthy now and hyped about Durant. Before that though the first game on TNT is between the Bucks and Bulls. The Bulls seem to be having some issues these days, so I think the Bucks will win easily tonight.
3945  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 16, 2023, 07:11:53 AM
We are pushing right up against the resistance level today. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself but it’s looking a lot like a move to $30K could be in the cards. I think once $25K breaks things could move very quickly. I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if we ended the month at $30K, but we could easily see the price fail to get through the resistance at $25K also.
3946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 16, 2023, 07:09:00 AM
Amazing the Lakers pulled out a win the way they shot the ball from the arch. The Pelicans didn’t do much better though with both teams shooting under 30%. Anthony Davis from the field was the one bright spot. We also got to see Mo Bamba in action for the first time. Him and LeBron shot a combined 0 for 10 from 3 point range. Not exactly the long range addition they were hoping for.
3947  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC price if the US defaults? on: February 15, 2023, 06:58:26 PM
I don’t think that any good would come from a US default. You could make an argument that it would send Bitcoin’s value into the millions per coin, but I think the more likely scenario is all assets taking a major hit. I’m sure there will be survivors that go on to do well, but it’s impossible to say what actions the government would resort to in that scenario.
3948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gamers beware: miners are now painting GPU memory on: February 15, 2023, 05:08:53 PM
I am not surprised. They have been doing this for years.

In the past a buddy of mine bought some R9 290 GPU on alibaba because it was "super cheap". It arrived and looked legit. Had a box labelled r9 290 and everything. However upon installation it was something like an R9 270. He complained and got a refund.

They do this because they know that most experienced gamers won't be buying any china brand GPUs. They do this because they hope that some newbie buys this and doesn't notice its a generation lower than displaced and since it still works in games, they don't complain.

That’s pretty shady. Intentionally trying to sell a GPU as a different GPU is on another level. You pretty much have to assume that GPUs bought from China for below MSRP are going to be used no matter what they claim. It’s like when ordering antminers from Bitmain. They say that they’re new but a close inspection will tell a different story as some parts are caked in dust.
3949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BNB & BUSD Under Attack on: February 15, 2023, 02:08:40 PM
The BNB situation is too close to FTT for me to feel comfortable holding it. There’s just too much potential for it to go to zero. Granted Binance has been around much longer than FTX and has a much stronger financial position, but you can’t ignore that they’re playing the exact same game. At some point someone with deeper pockets will likely come around and do to Binance what Binance did to FTX.
3950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else getting deflated with the bitcoin naysayers? on: February 15, 2023, 02:06:45 PM
Wall Street has a saying about stocks needing to climb a ‘wall of worry’ in order to increase in value safely. Don’t get discouraged when people are negative about Bitcoin. They’re the wall of worry that the price will climb to go higher. When you should get worried is when everyone is positive and saying Bitcoin is going to the moon. That’s usually the time to sell.
3951  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project: Sewing machine BITCOIN on: February 15, 2023, 02:03:38 PM
Great art and I like that you’re focusing on Bitcoin. I have no doubt that you’d be able to make great things with the proper equipment. However, it’s difficult to raise funds without collateral, especially in crypto where anyone can just disappear with funds. That being said, I hope you’re able to get the funds you need to take your art to the next level. Good luck!
3952  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What if China joins Russia in a nuclear war against the US and Nato? on: February 15, 2023, 02:00:29 PM
China still needs the United States. At least for now… More likely in my opinion would be China using Iran and Russia to fight a proxy war with the United States the way the United States is currently using Ukraine to fight a proxy war with Russia. God help us the day the China decides to attack the United States directly. It will likely lead to the end of civilization the way we know it.
3953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin is suitable and reliable for staking? on: February 15, 2023, 01:57:39 PM
On that list I think BNB is probably your best bet, and I believe there’s a strong chance BNB hits $0 in a massive implosion a la FTT at some point in time. You could maybe make the argument that Solana might not be a bad choice either but they’re all bad to be honest. Your best bet is to stack sats and stop thinking there’s a free ride to endless income.
3954  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 15, 2023, 12:58:24 PM
The market made a strong push for $23K this morning but fell just short. Still, you can’t ignore the strength the market has shown after its jump from $16K. Now it appears to be headed upwards again after a tiny correction and I think it’s only a matter of time before we jump from here up to $30K. I think that’s where we’ll start seeing more normal price action instead of these massive near 50% moves upward.
3955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 15, 2023, 12:48:53 PM
We’ve got the Pelicans and Lakers televised tonight on ESPN.  LeBron and Anthony Davis are both listed as possibly out tonight. I also wonder if we’ll get the chance to see Mo Bamba in a Lakers uniform tonight or anytime soon. Still no Zion which is a shame. I was hoping we’d see him in the all star game this weekend. A sad thing he hasn’t done a dunk contest.
3956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: February 15, 2023, 07:55:05 AM
Giannis and Jrue Holiday went off for the Bucks tonight. If they’re playing like that I don’t think any team in the league can beat them. Tonight they got the better of the Celtics in overtime. The Clippers were able to beat the Warriors with Steph. Fox played great for the Kings but it wasn’t enough to beat the Suns. When KD comes back that is going to be one hell of a team.
3957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there an effective way to stop a gambling-addicted person? on: February 14, 2023, 06:08:59 PM
Has anyone managed to stop their relatives from gambling addiction? I have a problem with my little brother, he is 29 and working for years already, the problem is he is so in debt that we are been called upon to come and bail him in a police station, he lied a lot about the debt and he can't even so some calculation on how he spent his own money, if you know what I mean, he works a lot but still broke, that kinda thing .

Later I found out that he is addicted to sports bets, he kept losing money and won't stop, he has lost up to 4650$, a loan, and his own money that he worked for.

If there is any advice you can give me on how to approach this matter please help.

I sympathize for your situation. Having relatives that are battling addiction can be hard on the entire family. All you can really do is let them know that their addiction is costing them the enjoyment of life and hope that they’re willing to take the steps necessary to correct the problem. If that doesn’t work…

Tongue in cheek answer… Have you tried betting them that they can’t stop?
3958  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] never miss a free raffle/auction again on: February 14, 2023, 05:51:38 PM
Cool bot.  I didn't know of it's existence before now either.  Kudos.  Great that development on it seems to be active as well.

bot asks for my UID. where do I find mine? it can't be the password coz the password does not work.

Did try entering your Bitcoin private key?  Just jokes...  Don't do that.  As others have stated, don't ever enter your passwords into any 3rd party site ever.  You should use unique passwords for every site you visit and if compromised like you did with your password here, you should immediately change it.  There are sharks everywhere in crypto and the fact you mentioned you did this probably already has some of them plotting on how to get you to give up your password.  Stay safe.  Good luck!
3959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 4 Altcoins to look at in 2023 on: February 14, 2023, 05:46:59 PM
I think those coins all have quite a difficult road ahead of them.  Ethereum is straight up under attack by regulators.  I think it has a lot of regulation heading it's way and while it may survive, the road will be bumpy.

Dogecoin is basically a worthless meme coin.  Sure, Elon like it and thinks it's funny.  He may add it to Twitter in some way that would make it valuable, but this is somewhat priced in already.  The risk to the downside here if Elon pivots away from Dogecoin (which he may well do for Twitter since he has billions of his money on the line) is enormous.

Avalanche is promising tech, but is it really any different than Solana only with different backers?  Sure, it can grift development from Ethereum which Solana can't, but I don't see it as a game changer.

Chainlink is one I just don't understand.  As far as I can tell it's a worthless coin with an overhyped marketing campaign.  People who buy into this coin must believe all the Twitter marketing.  It's hard to imagine that a coin could succeed based on a shady marketing campaign, but it's done well so far.  People seem to believe the advertising.

I am a bit surprised that MATIC was left out of this.  It's regularly adding partners like Disney who are sure to be future metaverse powerhouses, not to mention that the Sandbox switched from ETH to MATIC and has partnered with so many brands it is hard to not view the future of altcoins being centered around the Polygon network.
3960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have always wanted to ask this about bitcoin on: February 14, 2023, 05:39:32 PM
Will people still use or buy bitcoin till today if all it has to offer is the decentralized characteristic only, I am trying to say that if bitcoin is stable in value from day one and has no investment ability will you still buy it?

if all it has to offer is moving money around and no volatility, will Bitcoin be your favorite still? Drop your thoughts and let's see.

I am thinking that the Volatile is what makes bitcoin a must have for almost everybody, think I am wrong?

And people won't see a reason to buy Bitcoin if there were no Volatility from day one.

Ignoring the flaws of this exercise and answering the question frankly...  I would probably hold about 1/10,000th as much BTC if it were pegged to some specific USD value.  Sure, I'd still want some for trading over the internet, but as an investment, no way.  It would be worthless.  One of the things that initially attracted me to Bitcoin was it's low valuation for the solutions it offered.  If there was no value angle, I likely wouldn't have learned enough about it to know how it could change the world.  I think it's Bitcoin dressed up as a get rich quick scheme that enabled it to be so powerful as a disruptor in the financial space.
