3941  Economy / Economics / Re: How much is a chicken in BTC in your place? on: January 23, 2013, 04:11:12 AM
I'm certain that I would be able to purchase two chickens with one Bitcoin, if the market accepted Bitcoin.

If you're in the US, I can ship you a pack of chicks for BTC.  Just throw them some feed and give them a little shelter and you'll have tasty chickens in no time.
3942  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: January 23, 2013, 01:37:01 AM

I thought it was a bear unleashing his bitcoins upon the market.

yup, i would imagine all bears look like this when they dump.

I wonder how many lost their nuts?   Shocked

Quite a few recently.

13.5 + 52 = 65.5 by year end
I wouldn't be surpriced.

Bitcoin was up 288% in 2012 which means a target price of $50 in 2013 is achievable.

$120

Darn it, now I don't have an infinite range where I win.

3947  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't miss the train! on: January 22, 2013, 11:33:40 PM
Once this hits $18.50 I'm selling BTC100.

Then it'll very quickly panic and drop down to $8.50.

I'll then buy BTC217.

Then in October it'll be back $18.50

*Fingers Crossed*

I don't think BTC100 is enough to start a panic considering BTC12,000 dumps don't really phase MtGox anymore.

A quick glance at the depth chart will give you an idea of how many you need to sell to start a panic. Roughly 3500BTC willl drop us to $17... about 15000BTC will take us to $16.50. I guess the question is, where is the threshold? 100 BTC isn't going to do much.

I don't think DobZombie meant that selling his BTC100 would cause the panic.
3948  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox is apparently out of money... on: January 22, 2013, 10:25:41 PM
With BTC value behaving like it is, I'll bet there's a lot of ppl doing the same thing right now (selling for fiat).
Your bet is wrong. Again. There are much more ppl buying bitcoins than ppl selling bitcoins. This is why bitcoin price is going up, not down!

Were more hot dogs bought or sold in New York today?  Think carefully...

Sold.  The ones that were not bought never existed and merely serve to launder funds obtained from other sources.
3949  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Idea] Selfmade BTC Mixer using MtGox? on: January 22, 2013, 10:15:02 PM
So Say I have 1000 BTC on MtGox.

I write a script that arbitrarily takes an amount of these coins and cycles them back into the account via green adress.

like this:
Code:
once every n minutes, roll Z-sided dice
 if random number/range between A and Z
  request deposit address
  take some amount of coinage
withdraw that coinage to the deposit adress using green address feature

after a number of iterations, the coins should be sufficiently mixed, non?
thinking about offering this service to a couple of people for a smallish fee (invite-only).

could/would this work?
i could also incorporate a small bot that just sits there on the bid/ask for ~20BTC for added mixage, or would that be superfluous?

input appreciated.
if this is stupid, say so, but nicely.

Pointless.  MtGox still knows which account each address belongs to.
3950  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weidmann warns of currency war risk on: January 22, 2013, 09:37:21 PM
Yes, world currency war III is certainly possible.

Inflation briefly works, because the loosing part of the public does not understand what is going on. The cost is of course wealth redistribution and distortion of the labour and interest markets, making the population as such poorer than it would otherwise be. If it works on the national scale, it works even better internationally by distorting the import/export trade balances. It is a long way for the public in South Korea or Argentina to connect US or Japanese or Euro inflation (of the money supply) to their own misery.

The reason we have not had currency war continusly, is diverse agreements on the supernational level. A gentlemens agreement, or should I say an agreement between fellow scammers, in the form of unofficial central baker's dinners in Basel, has been effective lately, but seems to be in process of breaking up.

See Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis, by James Rickards.

Central baker's... now that's an idea I could support.  Free cake for everybody!

I mean I know her personally. She brags about this stuff and the fact that she knew I was empty before I did is still weird.

Perhaps she meant she hacked your system.  If she gained access to the computer with your wallet she could steal your funds.
3959  Other / Off-topic / Re: "Bitcoin" and the Fourth Way on: January 17, 2013, 04:20:55 PM
The three ways are mastery of body, mind, and emotions.  The fourth way is to cultivate all three.

Sure, master yourself.  That's kind of the point.
How many times a day shoud you "master yourself."  Grin

Four times, once for each of the three ways... then once again all together.
