So what do YOU bring to this venture (besides the idea "I wanna have a casino site")
3942  Other / Off-topic / Re: And some more delays in BFL shipment plans / no shipment before 14th Jan 2013 on: December 17, 2012, 05:28:43 PM
The only thing that bothers me as much as personal attacks/ doxing/ insulting one's love/ projective insults/ deflective observations etc,  is terms I have to look up (type into google) which could just as easily be said using normal language.

Well I guess in that case I ain't gonna tell you what it stands for, fellow forum member. Feel the burn.

I had no problem founding out what it means: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL079E613845E2774A

That's what I found too and then I wondered: "Hey now, what's that got to do with BFL?" But then I remembered.
3943  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: A valid criticism of Bitcoin's design? on: December 17, 2012, 09:05:59 AM
What is this I don't even...

I'm trying to make sense of what he's saying so I can respond properly, but it sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about... There are a lot of people participating in the discussion (who know nothing about technology/cryptography) who might be lead astray by tossing around a few $2 words (or I should say 0.148 BTC words lol).  Tongue
He doesn't know what he's talking about. The algorithms we know for reversing ECDSA are not polynomial time. Unless he knows something about computational theory that the rest of the world does not, there is no reason to believe that it is even possible for there to exist a polynomial time solution. And with the exponential time solutions which are currently the best we know about, you could literally turn the entire observable universe into a 100% efficient computer and run it until the heat death of the universe, and you you're not likely to find a solution. Moore's law does not apply here.

I thought Shor's algorithm will break elliptic curve encryption once quantum computers are sufficiently large?
3944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would an average person actually choose to use Bitcoin? on: December 17, 2012, 08:10:59 AM
I'm working on getting to the point where I will demand Bitcoin, and only Bitcoin, as payment for my goods and services.

You should contact vite. He runs a BTC restaurant.
3945  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have an idea. on: December 17, 2012, 02:26:19 AM
why doesn't http://bitcoin.org/ do that?
Or incorporate that into all there clients?
This would make it easier for the average joe, or more convenient

Because, as mentioned, it is completely contrary to the design philosophy of Bitcoin itself.

Of course that brings us back to how Bitcoin was never really intended to be rolled out to the Random Q. Consumer in this form, but is instead only a proof of concept. But that opens a whole nother can of worms that no one wants to hear about.

SloK on the forums to announce he was buying BFL products:

Hi y'all, SLok from The Netherlands, as many of you waiting for my (6) Jalapeno's. Mainly signed up to get access to the ignore button, btw.

and has dont nothing but blindly defend them while ignoring all discussion points raised regarding their dodgey practices.
He is either an idiot or a shill.

He's a contest participant.
3947  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck. on: December 17, 2012, 01:19:19 AM
He's seven days early. Tell him you'll have cookies and milk ready at the appointed day and not a minute earlier.
3948  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hector Matias Predilailo AKA Caranada **Info Thread*** on: December 17, 2012, 01:12:33 AM

You know that's not a bad idea.  It would cost nothing but time to make these scammers youtube hits.  I'm sure we have people on here who could compose scammer serenades about them.

To the melody of Toni Rossi - Bésame Mucho

Caraaaaa, Cara de Naaaaaada,
I gave you my coins for your cards,
then you took them away.

Caaaaaraaaaa de Naaaaaada,
I found a hitman on Silk Road,
maybe now you will pay.
3949  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck. on: December 17, 2012, 01:02:31 AM
What you want to do is see if there is anything fairly heavy nearby within easy reach. While keeping your weight firmly on your foot, slide the object over to yourself. Now while very very carefully removing your foot sideways, at the same time push the object from the opposite direction onto the mine.

Let us know how it goes, dude.

Cute thread. Whatever happened with this?

I don't really like the contest either.  Unfortunately if called out, BFL can truthfully say "but our competition does it too!"

Doesn't matter if anyone else is doing it. BFL is running an illegal lottery. No surprise, really, having been founded by a felon convicted of running an illegal scheme. By requiring consideration, in the form of advertising by the participants, and not having a "no purchase necessary" way to enter the contest, they are in clear violation of the law.

Nah, you're mixing up contests, sweepstakes and lotteries. Those are three different things differently regulated. The "no purchase necessary" applies to sweepstakes. Participation in a lottery requires monetary payment. What BFL is doing is a contest, where a reward is awarded among those participants (their status as customer or non-customer is irrelevant) that successfully "won" a puzzle or game. The puzzle or game in this case being "whore out your BTCTalk signature and keep posting on BTCTalk". It's unethical, but not illegal.

If it was illegal, the same would apply to every "Like us on Facebook for a chance to win a prize" contest.

Yup.

EDIT: Wait, no, that's a sweepstakes. A contest would be "Upload your favorite baby seal photo and like us on facebook for a chance to win a prize".
3952  Other / Off-topic / Re: [POLL] Should BFL get a Scammer tag? on: December 16, 2012, 09:17:57 PM
Reminder that up until now everything has happened exactly as predicted by myself on December 3rd

Quote
- Finally understanding how Asian fabs work, BFL raises their order from 20000 chips to 100000 to bump up their place in the production queue.
 - Fab decides they finally have time for that weirdo BFL company to do their miniscule run on the 11th. This is under provision no big orders from LG come in in the mean time because boy that Nexus 4 is selling like hotcakes. If that happens BFLs run is gonna be pushed back to "whenever".
 - Assuming the 11th happens and the run actually starts, you can add about 4-5 weeks for production of these things.
 - On 21st of December the world ends
 - In the middle of January the chips are finished. Inaba decides to hop in a plane and fly over to the fab to hand receive the chips. Turns out, all planes crashed during the end of the world. Instead the chips are shipped over to 'merica by boat.
 - Middle of March the chips finally arrive in what is now called the Independent State of California. Customs officials hold what they assume to be weapons grade military devices until the end of the war with Texas finally ends in a stalemate.
- 2015: ASICs arrive at BFL studios (a subsidiary of bAvalon International). No one knows what to do with them because all bitcoins were wiped out by the EMP pulse from Planet Rth'Nag'Ar.
- 2016: bAvalon strings the chips up on metal bars to produce a first-of-its-kind mathematics device they call The Abacus.

I wish there were a way to remove threads from the "Show new replies to your posts." list. I suspect this thread is going to go on for months and it is already off-topic.

Just delete your posts in the thread. You're welcome.

3956  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: December 16, 2012, 02:41:04 AM

Just got my copies of #2 and #3 down in Florida (after reshipping), also from Romania.

What the hell? Are you Guy Fawkes?
3957  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Defending] Hector Matias Predilalio, My Friend... on: December 16, 2012, 02:38:56 AM
I find it very hard to believe that Hector is a scammer. I consider him as reputable as Charlie Shrem or Roberto Gutierrez from AurumXchange.

Thank you for your confirmation to look into the dealings of those two individuals.

Interesting, maybe I can seduce some to switch to my religion?

Can imagine I will have a lot of fun trying.

I'm sure they're "intelligent" enough to switch to my religion.
