3941  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Has anyone dealt with the Cryptokreed exchange? on: November 17, 2022, 03:51:23 PM
After registration I was invited to deposit 0.01 BTC or 0.16 ETH, and then I will be able to receive my prize.
---
This looks very suspicious, considering that such methods are often used by scammers, when to get one amount from exchange you have to deposit another amount to exchange.

Scammers use various methods, this is just one of them and it seems to be successful considering that many people have doubts about whether it is legitimate or not. If we consider that maybe 10% of people ask or admit that they have been cheated in this way, the percentage of those who never admit it publicly is certainly quite large.

Making people aware on a global level that this is a scam should be part of every school curriculum, along with of course many other things when it comes to the internet.
3942  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would Twitter go after its takeover by Elon Musk ? on: November 17, 2022, 03:09:53 PM
I deactivated my T account that I had since 2016 like many others who do not want to be part of a platform that under the guise of freedom of speech allows some things that were previously sanctioned and inappropriate. Someone buys the company and can do what they want, but the methods they use are far from what could be called humane, and I personally do not support that, nor do the hundreds of thousands who have already left the platform within just a few days of the takeover. And no, it is not the only social network of this type, there are dozens of alternatives that you can find using any search engine.

In the week after Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion, the social media platform lost more than 1.3 million users.

MIT Technology Review reported the firm Bot Sentinel, which tracks behavior on Twitter by analyzing more than 3.1 million accounts and their daily activity, “believes that around 877,000 accounts were deactivated and a further 497,000 were suspended between Oct. 27 and Nov. 1."
3943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *El Salvador To Start Purchasing Bitcoin Everyday* on: November 17, 2022, 02:41:00 PM
Considering how bad the charts are looking over the past year, it might in fact be a great choice to start purchasing parts every day rather than a one time chunky purchase.  Seems like for now Bitcoin is not handling the sub $20k drop very well and let us be honest here, how many positive news have we received over the last year?  Until the next bull run begins, things are only probably getting worse.  Why do you think DCA is not a good strategy if you have a large chunk of money laying around?

I already wrote that DCA makes sense if Bukele expects the price to be even lower in the following months, but how much lower than this can we realistically go now? I don't know how they buy that Bitcoin, but if they deposit money every day, then buy Bitcoin and then withdraw it to a non-custodial wallet, that has its costs, which would be 30 times lower (per month) if they do it only once.

I'm not saying it's a completely bad strategy, but time will tell if it was successful given the moment we're in.
3944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Markets pumped quick after CZ said this, but don't FOMO yet! on: November 17, 2022, 11:56:06 AM
All in all, he tried to do good but his step of declaring publicly about liquidating their FTT balance made things ugly.

Do you believe that some Chinese out there who has made more money than he can count in his lifetime wants good for you, me or someone else? I am surprised that today was not a new pump again, because the beloved leader made another optimistic announcement for the future. In a few years, 8 billion people will use crypto, which means that even children in cradles will do it, along with all those who still do not have access to the Internet, and today there are about 45% of them.

I'm really surprised that the masses didn't react positively to such a post Huh
3945  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: investing for beginners must be large capital or small capital. on: November 17, 2022, 11:24:51 AM
~snip~

I think that you should first of all follow the advice not to invest more than you are ready to lose, and only then think about exactly what you will invest in and how much. It is also important that you have a strategy and that you know what you want, and that you understand all the possible risks that come with it.

If you invest long-term in Bitcoin, you can always expect that the price of the same will change, and that during that time you will be in loss or gain, but until you decide to sell, you are in an unrealized loss or gain, so you have to prepare for all these situations in such a way that you are not caught by too much euphoria or panic.
3946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: unconfirmed transaction....need help on: November 17, 2022, 11:08:48 AM
You can use https://mempool.space to be checking the mempool, you used 3.965 sat/vByte for the transaction, that would be when it will be confirmed when the mempool becomes less congested to that level. Most probably it would be confirmed during weekend, but not totally guaranteed. Mempool are less congested during weekends.

This time the condition of the mempool does not depend on the weekend, because the problem is that one large CEX is doing some kind of consolidation and is causing this problem. The current situation is about 30 000 unconfirmed transactions, and the area where the OP transaction is located occupies the largest part with 29 000+ transactions that are in the range of 1-14 sat/vB.

3947  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trojan virus found on my new download Electrum wallet on: November 17, 2022, 10:42:49 AM
@Coin_trader, I don't see how a physical backup would be a problem, unless you really have big problems with gambling (if I understand correctly), because the backup you have is actually very risky, especially if something like this happens. Now you can only hope that you will be able to save the data, and that you have confidence in the person who will get access to your hard drive.

In any case, good luck and think about making a physical backup anyway, maybe in a way that you entrust part of the backup to someone you trust, and keep the part with you.
3948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *El Salvador To Start Purchasing Bitcoin Everyday* on: November 17, 2022, 10:15:26 AM
This move is just a change of strategy that some will say is good, but I would say that it makes sense for an ordinary user who does not have enough money to make a big investment and is forced to buy in this way. El Salvador is a country that is not in the best economic condition, but I don't think that this way of investing will bring them any benefits - because buying 30 BTC today or doing it for a period of 30 days will not make a big difference, unless another crash happens.

Despite losing $70million, according to the article, he didn't relelent. He is a true bit coiner, he doesn't need to buy bitcoin only for profits but buying bitcoin for owning more bitcoin is his goal, I assume.

He is the president of the country and he does not buy Bitcoin with his own money, and the loss you are talking about is not his personal loss, but the loss of all the people who fill the budget of that country. It's easy to be a true believer if you're gambling with other people's money, right?
3949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are there lots of accounts that seem abandoned? on: November 17, 2022, 09:50:58 AM
On the other hand, I agree with you about the new forum software. It's about time that the forum get a new, modern design. The current one looks like it was made in the early 2000s. It's boring and outdated, which is not at all helpful in making the user interface appealing to younger generations.
~snip~

I personally don't mind that the forum is the way it is, because to me the content is much more important than how the forum actually looks - although it would be desirable if we finally got a new forum considering how much money and time was spent on that project. And will it help us to get more new members who will not be just bounty hunters - that is a question that we will have to wait for some time to answer.
3950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are there lots of accounts that seem abandoned? on: November 16, 2022, 04:14:57 PM
~snip~

This is the philosophy that the content is not so important, if it is not integrated into something colorful, shiny with hundreds of emoticons and the possibility that you can delete each of your messages and of course all this on your smartphone. There have been tons of inquiries over the years on the topic of mobile app for this forum, which only proves that we will have a hard time attracting some new kids to join us if we don't provide them with what they want.

I think everything will change when we get a new forum, we just need to be patient a little more Wink
3951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool if full, but what does that actually mean? on: November 16, 2022, 03:57:23 PM
How often does Binance do these consolidations?

I know of one instance from 2019, but I'm pretty sure it happened at least one more time after that (not including this time). If nothing else, maybe someone will learn how to properly set the fee so that their transaction doesn't get stuck for days, or maybe they will discover that there is something called RBF.

Here is how the mempool looked in the past 3 years - > https://mempool.space/graphs/mempool#3y

This raft is slowly filling up with new passengers, and now I'm thinking that it would be fair to put them all on one such raft and give them their worthless tokens and send them off into the endless blue ocean - maybe the whales would have mercy, and maybe not Roll Eyes
3953  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gemini Earn Program Pausing Withdrawals on: November 16, 2022, 03:15:05 PM
All these warnings do not make much sense for the average user who just wants to trade and profit as often as possible, and only knows that through CEX. In the event that the majority decided to withdraw all their funds from CEX, I think that many of these companies would find themselves in big problems because they would not be able to meet all the demands of their clients - something similar to traditional banks.

I hope that some of our saviors will come out with some of their tweets and save us from a new dump Roll Eyes
3954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto storage Trust Wallet on: November 16, 2022, 02:40:07 PM
Listen, if something serves you well for two years and you don't want to pay for something that should be safer (HW), then with all the possible risks that a mobile crypto wallet carries with it, keep using what you believe is a good choice. Personally, I would never use any mobile/desktop wallet to store any larger value, although it would be stupid to say that even HW provides absolute security.

If you have some kind of old computer or mobile phone on which you can disable any access to the internet, I suggest you look at the concept of something called cold storage wallet.
3955  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are there lots of accounts that seem abandoned? on: November 16, 2022, 02:16:02 PM
There's nothing wrong with someone losing interest in an online platform. People lose interest in things at different paces and for different reasons. However, one thing is for sure: the cryptocurrency market is growing, and forums like BitcoinTalk are still at the center of this market.

It's not just a loss of interest, but various life situations that simply force some members to change their lifestyle and redirect their time and energy elsewhere. The OP is thinking in a way that is wrong in the sense that someone created their account just to profit from the forum, and then suddenly abandoned that account. And at the same time, he does not take into account that not everyone is here exclusively for profit and that most of the accounts he mentions were created long before the merit system - which means that their owners did not have to invest in them anything more than their time.

As for your thinking about this forum as some kind of crypto-currency center, I think that is not correct considering how many active members we have that give some value to the forum compared to all those bounty hunters who together are worth absolutely nothing.

For the new generation, the concept of a forum is not something attractive, and that is why most of them spend their time on various social networks where, frankly speaking, they will not learn much and have a much higher chance of becoming victims of a scam.
3956  Other / Meta / Re: To comment/post removers on: November 16, 2022, 01:56:16 PM
I honestly don't believe in deleting posts without leaving their duplicate/copies behind.

The trash should simply be deleted, but luckily for you, most of the posts you wrote were saved anyway, so this whole thread is completely pointless.

...In it, I gave conditions to work with anyone... part of which include respect of my beliefs, like belief in a CREATOR of the whole  Universe/existence and Mankind. my future coworkers was meant to know that with the CREATOR nothing is impossible... Atleast this will help him/her stay strong when hard-to-believe things begin to happen when we work together as team. To cut this short, the post may have eventually been deleted, probably last year or early this year. I looked for it to share it with someone I was discussing a project with when he started saying things that shouldn't be uttered about my CREATOR and my faith. It will be nice if the post is restored because I intended to use it as part of my Terms and conditions for working with anyone. It was probably deleted as I could not find it when I needed it.

Please stop constantly mentioning the creator and your religious beliefs, because it has nothing to do with the forum or Bitcoin. I don't know what religion you are, but in Christianity, mentioning God's name in vain is a sin and one of God's commandments. If you want to discuss the creator of the universe and similar things, limit yourself to Serious discussion, Off-topic or Politics and Society.
3957  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What is now the difference with Ponzi platforms with cryptocurrency exchanges on: November 16, 2022, 01:37:42 PM
Sam Bankman-Fried  has a degree in physics and a minor in mathematics...

What an irony in the fact that someone trusted a man named Bankman, and it is even more ironic that he managed to sell them his worthless token and with all his tricks managed to destroy the company in a very short time. Maybe he is one of those fanatics who, like Kwon, enjoy watching companies fail, and maybe they take even greater pleasure in destroying their own company.

When I first saw that man, I thought it was some kind of joke - because to me he seemed quite incapable of keeping an ordinary chicken coop, let alone a crypto exchange.
3958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don’t make any crazy/suicidal moves in this bear market on: November 15, 2022, 04:49:35 PM
These breaches are just some as recent as two years.

Why only in the past 2 years, when we know that such things have been happening since 2012, and despite that, the majority have not yet learned any lesson from all this. I would say that crazy/suicidal moves are something that people do constantly, because they keep repeating the same things, which means that they are consciously harming themselves.

There is an old saying that says "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Considering the current situation with mempool, I can try to help you - just read OP regarding the minimum fee so that the transaction could be accelerated.
3960  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is spamming mempool on: November 15, 2022, 04:01:38 PM
Who remembers what the circumstances were the last time CZ did the same thing - it seems to me that he also chose a moment that was not exactly the best?

Regardless of the fact that it is the legitimate right of everyone to create as many transactions as they want, it could still be done in a less extreme way, and considering everything that has been happening in the last few days, what CZ is doing can certainly raise suspicions that it is not about ordinary consolidation, but trying to hide something or cause even greater panic.

I found a similar topic from 2019 -> ~80 MB transactions with 1 s/b fee were just injected into the mempool
