3941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 23, 2021, 03:26:29 AM
@Kemarit. It only implies that bitcoin’s volatility will be a problem. The people cannot have a useful medium of exchange if the volatility of the currency is more than the price on an item. Also, those people who are protesting are certainly not investors who are in this for investment profit.
3942  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Go for Another All Time High This Year? on: July 22, 2021, 06:22:38 AM
Ark Invest bought more shares of Coinbase. This is another signal that could argue for bitcoin that it might make another all time high again this year. We might witness this on December before another bubble burst, very much similar to what we have witnessed on 2013 and 2017 hehe.

3943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey agree to talk about bitcoin at an event in July on: July 22, 2021, 05:05:20 AM
Did Elon Musk go to Michael Saylor’s office for this live video stream hehehe. It appears he is making fun of Saylor by using that backdrop. However, it is Saylor’s own fault. Saylor the hero has created his own archvillain. It was him who invited Elon to the Bitcoin for corporations conference on February 3, 2021.

Amongst the attendees was SpaceX as highlighted by the team at @DocumentingBTC via the following tweet. Attendance by the space exploration company confirms that Elon Musk is indeed interested in adding Bitcoin to its treasuries.

3944  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-09] Russia Drafting Law on Confiscation of Crypto Assets on: July 22, 2021, 02:40:20 AM
Providing anonymous crypto-asset wallets will also be prohibited, just as anonymous bank accounts are already banned under EU anti-money laundering rules.
So web wallets and centralized exchanges will have to enforce KYC on every user, but does this apply to self hosted wallets? Are they going to prohibit people from running Bitcoin Core or Electrum? Are they going to prohibit sites from even hosting the software? What about if I manually generate a private key and manually turn that in to an address? Is that illegal too?

What about hardware wallet sellers? Will they have to collect KYC and link it to a unique identifier in each device?

What complete nonsense. All they will actually achieve with these kinds of rules is to push more and more users to decentralized exchanges, mixers, and holding their coins in their own wallets.

I am quite certain that the regulators will make exchanges require their users to use only one public key to transact with the exchange. This public key will be marked with your name on it upon KYC and shared with the government and other exchanges.

Also, users should be careful and make certain not to taint their KYC public key and coins if the travel rule pushes those users to decentralized exchanges and mixers.
3945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 22, 2021, 01:32:25 AM
@estenity. The original way intended to use strike.me for El Salvador was with tether included. For example if an El Salvadorian mother wanted to send American dollars to her son in El Salvador through strike.me, the process would be strike.me takes her USD convert it to bitcoin, send it to strike.me Lightning node, convert to USDT then send it to the son’s account.

Moreover, Strike will also list popular stablecoins tether (USDT, +0.05%) and USD coin (USDC (+0.04%)), beginning with a pilot program in El Salvador. Stablecoins were one of the crypto industry’s breakout products in 2020. The market cap of dollar-pegged tokens rose some from around $7 billion to over $30 billion by the year’s end, according to Messari.

Mallers chose El Salvador to pilot the stablecoin project because of its large availability of dollars, Bitcoin ATMs and one of the largest remittance markets in the world. The Latin American nation swapped out its native currency, the colon, in the early 2000s for the greenback. At the time, El Salvador was trying to stimulate economic activity by adopting the stronger currency in a case of intentional “dollarization.”

3946  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-09] Russia Drafting Law on Confiscation of Crypto Assets on: July 21, 2021, 05:27:05 AM
@xenon131. Are you from Russia? You might be the person to give us news updates. In any case, I speculate this proposed law might also include ensuring the traceablity of bitcoin and altcoin transactions by copying the European Union’s travel rule for cryptocoin transactions.

It might appear presently as fud, however, anything might be possible after witnessing China’s actions. The regulators around the world are becoming very aggressive against the cryptospace.

Companies that transfer bitcoin or other cryptoassets must collect details of senders and recipients to help authorities crack down on dirty money, EU policymakers proposed on Tuesday in the latest efforts to tighten regulation of the sector.

The law proposed by the European Commission, the EU executive, would apply what is known as the travel rule to crypto transactions to make them traceable.

Providing anonymous crypto-asset wallets will also be prohibited, just as anonymous bank accounts are already banned under EU anti-money laundering rules.

3947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: July 21, 2021, 04:49:08 AM
I am shaking my head. However, it would not be very shocking if El Salvador created something similar to Venezuela’s cryptotoken.

I reckon the removal of tether from Strike’s roadmap for El Salvador for redollarization removed the intruiging part of the project. This would have given El Salvador the ability to print American dollars without control of a Federal Reserve printer and it would have also given tether a real use case.

The El Salvador government has plans to launch a native cryptocurrency consumers will be able to use for services, Latin American digital newspaper El Faro reported Friday night.

Ibrajim and Yusef Bukele, the brothers of the country’s president, Nayib Bukele, told prospective investors the cryptocurrency, which is currently referenced as the Colon dollar, would be introduced by the end of 2021, according to the report, which cited video recordings of the brothers discussing the proposal with these investors.

The president’s brothers reportedly met with representatives from Cardano, WhizGrid and Algorand at different times, according to the newspaper.

3948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 21, 2021, 03:44:50 AM
@DireWolfM14. It was not misinterpreted. However, I am also very excited to send the payment today. The Bucks are winning by 8 points and might cover the spread hehehe. Also, everyone should send it while bitcoin price is low. It will be harder to send if bitcoin pumps back to $50,000 hehe.
3949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: July 21, 2021, 03:12:02 AM
@DireWolfM14. I told you in PM that I was sending you the payment yesterday or today after payment of my campaign. It appears I might send it next week, depending if the Bucks -5 covers the spread. If they win I will send it today hehehe.
3950  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: July 20, 2021, 05:25:47 AM
@Cram06. Have you submitted the documents required for KYC to verify your identity? Much of the sportsbooks will you ask for KYC once you start moving coins equivalent to $3000 to $10,000. The sites do this similar to exchanges for purposes of compliance and to avoid suspicions from regulators.
3951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 20, 2021, 04:37:33 AM

I know that you are a big fan of Phoenix specially Ayton, but boy, Bucks really surprises us all with the huge come back win against them in their home court.

And numbers shows that >70% when a team leads 3-2, they will eventually become a champion. No doubt that Suns is a good team, but as you have said, Bucks is the better team and they may close them out in Fiserv and crown as the NBA champions.

Very unpredictable series, who knows Suns will able to bounce back and force this series to do or die finals.

We seen every much where bucks are just lucky to win, because of those unexpected mistakes from the Suns leading stars. But for sure the momentum is really high for this team and playing in front of your home crowd and the want to dedicate the success in front of your avid wild crowd.

The Suns might bounce back, however, consider the momentum is on the Buck’s side and also the Suns will play in the Buck’s home court. I reckon after this series we might see this as something written perfectly like a Buck’s story. You can call it luck but fortune is with the Bucks. Maximum bet that -5 hehehe.
3952  Economy / Speculation / Re: I speculate Tesla has sold their coins on: July 20, 2021, 03:39:41 AM
Tesla earnings report and conference call will be on July 26 according to tipranks.com.

https://www.tipranks.com/stocks/tsla/earnings-calendar

I reckon it would be a victory for the community to hear Tesla report that their bitcoin holdings are on a loss after 6 months of hodling hehehe. Tesla’s average buying price is $34,200 according to this article.

https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/revealed-how-much-profit-tesla-has-made-after-buying-bitcoin

It would also be another victory if Tesla sold with a loss. Elon destroyed his own company’s balance sheet.
3953  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-15] Rumors Fly That Apple Has Bought $2.5 Billion In Bitcoin on: July 20, 2021, 02:05:38 AM
Breaking news. Apple has sold all their bitcoin according to sauces.

@Renampun. I am quite certain Apple will not buy and hold bitcoin in their balance sheet. I would be willing to eat my own penis on national television if I am wrong hehehe.

However, there might have been some interest before Elon began to tweet negatively about it.

3955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 19, 2021, 02:36:14 AM
@gagux123. I reckon statistics are more useful for the regular season because all the same teams play every other same team for many months. Playoff basketball is more unpredictable where a not very good team can have the momentum and win the series. Lakers and Clippers for this season’s playoff.
3956  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-14] Bitcoin mining ban an easy decision for China, says Bitmain EMEA pa on: July 19, 2021, 01:41:02 AM
I honestly don’t know who to believe.
Have you read this post from a Chinese?
The real reason why China banned Bitcoin.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5347307.msg57372694#msg57372694

So this is just a way to lower the price of bitcoin and get the miners to take all the mining junk out of the country.
What will prevent China from allowing mining under full government control again?

Cointelegraph should confirm Phil Harvey’s statement where he said that China banned mining to reduce its carbon footprint to get funding from the International Monetary Fund or the World Bank. This might be false. I reckon China will never subject itself to what it does on other countries. I might be wrong, however, it is China that acts as an alternative for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Also, agree with @stompix. This article appears to be a paid for advertisement.

The U.S. SEC and the Federal Reserve will have a meeting tomorrow with the top of their agenda to be cryptocoins, stablecoins and the cryptospace.

It might be nothing but another set of warnings, however, it might be something more concerning after learning from China’s ban.
3958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: July 18, 2021, 07:56:08 AM
@TheNineClub. Agreed. After 5 years away from MMA Tate is returning and she was saying that she wants to fight for a championship during the post fight interview. The skeptical me thinks she has secret information that Amanda Nunes will retire hehehe.
3959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: July 18, 2021, 07:19:49 AM
Despite the controversies in the politics that I don't really like about him, there will be many supporters for Manny Pacquiao when it comes to boxing, and right now Pacquaio is busy and focus on his fight with Errol Spence that he is now training in the U.S. where the fight will be held, I have seen his training he still got his speed and punching power but he can not underestimate his opponent Errol Spence Jr. because Spence is just 31 years old to the 42 years old Manny Pacquiao, but I will be biased here because when it comes to Filipino boxer just like the Nonito Donaire fight I will surely support Manny Pacquaio all the way when it comes to boxing.

I researched Pacman and the state of politics in the Philippines. It appears that a victory for him would benefit his chances to win if he runs for president. I reckon the conclusion of the fight will be the decider if he runs or not. If it is a win, I would not be shocked if he announced his intention to run as president during the post fight interview.

Bookmakers rate Spence as a clear favorite - the odds of him winning are about 1.2. I tend to agree with them - he is younger, taller, faster. Can't understand why Pacquiao needs this fight? Another plus in the defeat column but for a lot of money? It seems to me that he has already provided for himself for the rest of his life and could well end his career.

I'm very worried about Pacquiao he is facing two adversaries right now his coming fight with Spence and his ongoing fight in his political party, another faction of his he was just ousted as a party president of the ruling party PDP Laban, not the best time for this to happen I hope Manny is still ok, politics is really dirty in the Philippines, they should have deferred or delay the decision after Pacquiao's fight.

https://www.rappler.com/nation/elections/manny-pacquiao-ousted-pdp-laban-president

In the world of politics, any publicity is good publicity. It is better than being ignored. This attention is good for Pacman. His political handlers should maneuver the situation carefully, however.

There should be a sportsbook offering Pacman odds for president similar to Trump and Biden hehehehe.
3960  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Reviews for FTX exchange? on: July 18, 2021, 06:26:12 AM
@estenity. It might be another comment made by someone that was intended to be a joke and taken as something serious similar to the Apple to buy $2.5 billion worth of bitcoin rumor hehehe.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5349327.0

However, I agree that FTX might replace Binance as the no. 1 exchange in the cryptospace. Regulators have been very aggressive in cracking down on Binance this year. We might see an ending by December and it does not appear good for Changpeng Zhao.
