3941  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia has developed covid-19 vaccine. on: August 11, 2020, 01:58:15 PM
When I was reading the news, these were the key points:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said a locally developed vaccine for Covid-19 has been given regulatory approval after less than two months of testing on humans.

Amid fears that safety could have been compromised, the World Health Organization (WHO) urged Russia last week to follow international guidelines for producing a vaccine against Covid-19.

Currently, the Russian vaccine is not among the WHO's list of six vaccines that have reached phase three clinical trials, which involve more widespread testing in humans.

Russian scientists said early-stage trials of the vaccine had been completed and the results were a success.

The Russian vaccine uses adapted strains of the adenovirus, a virus that usually causes the common cold, to trigger an immune response.

But the vaccine's approval by Russian regulators comes before the completion of a larger study involving thousands of people, known as a phase-three trial.

You can read the full news from the link below
BBC News - Coronavirus: Putin says vaccine has been approved for use
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53735718

@Charles-Tim yea I saw this news too and I’m skeptical about Russia’s claim, and furthermore I don’t expect anyone to try it unless WHO and other medical bodies can certify that this vaccine is safe. Also I hope that Russia’s citizens will give it a miss, otherwise they’ll be risking their life’s on an untried vaccine who’s side effects are yet not known to us.

The next raffle is running for quite a long time but for a lambo. Shocked

Why do everyone raffle lambos, and not porsche or ferrari? Smiley And why exactly these kind of models? Urus looks more practical, yes still expensive imho.

Because Lambos are associated with Bitcoin.
Theres also a thread here where someone is waiting for a bitcoin to be worth one lambo. Cheesy
Yeah. This is true too. The owner during the livestream when this promotion was first announced mentioned the tag line "when moon?" from the crypto community when there is a bullrun.
But there is also another one with the saying:
"When Lambo!?" Grin
This is what this promotion is referring to I believe.
So Stake is making it real with this promotion in saying:
"Now Lambo!" Cool

@rdbase the gambler who wins this will become famous overnight in his locality, and further I strongly feel that this shall encourage more people to adopt bitcoins in the long run with the hope that they too will win a Lamborghini some day. Also now I understand bitcoin community love for Lamborghini, but I yet don’t think that one btc will equal to one Lamborghini anytime soon.

@mardaed it seems to me that you woke up after quiet a big nap, because LB has been active here for a quiet a while now, and further they have also held some nice promos too in the last few months.

Hello guys, I just were made aware we are holding a weekly race aug 17th - aug 24th.

This will be a normal race with classic rules like the last one we had.

@AlbertoLB that’s a nice update because many small time gamblers will be happy to participate in this, as winning the one btc challenge seems difficult to them.
3945  Economy / Economics / Re: Are people losing faith from centralized organizations? on: August 10, 2020, 01:18:24 PM
When I see the picture of our banks in my country's, it seems lots of people in the line to withdraw their funds. An analysis of my country says that people keeping funds on their hands instead of keeping into the bank. And it hasn't happened before where a huge amount of funds holding by population. Bank reports saying, clients are just withdrawing their money, deposits are very low by comparing with withdrawal. That's why people encountering lots of questions from the bank regarding withdrawal. Most likely due to the global pandemic, people want to keep funds on their hands.

I don't know if it is happening in your country as well. But seems people losing their faith from centralized organizations like a bank. It would happen due fair of bankruptcy or due to need money on emergency situations. On the other hand, gold and bitcoin movements saying that new investors getting in. Most probably people want to be their own bank.

What's your thought and what's the real situation of your country?

@Coolcryptovator due to the legal laws in place many people don’t have any other alternative, but to leave their funds in banks and further this is only temporary, because once this pandemic effects start to end then they’ll once again deposit their funds back in to the banks. Also I don’t understand how can a bank ask questions to its customers if they wish to withdraw their own funds, unless there’s a rule in your country which allows banks to subject their customers to such torture?.
3946  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fauci says the vaccine will only be about 50% effective. on: August 10, 2020, 10:16:42 AM
No, I'm not going to voluntarily get the vaccine, no matter what the supposed percentage is, it's another thing to be legally forced.

Considering that most doctors don't get the flu vaccine: "Prof Heneghan, who is also an out-of-hours GP, told BBC Scotland there was little good evidence on the benefits of giving the vaccination to healthy individuals in the NHS." I don't think the Covid-19 one is going to be different.

Spanish flu and other pandemics were eradicated due to group immunity and the natural genetic mutation of the virus. I believe the vaccine can do more harm than good, especially because there are economic interests behind it.

Just for the record here, when I was saying that most people aren't going to get it when it first comes out -- I totally understand and agree with doing that sort of thing.

While yes, the vaccine has had to go through FDA testing to get to us, I don't think anyone would feel too safe as there is not enough large data points to tell us that things are going to be okay. Plus who the hell knows how the vaccine is going to effect you as an individual. So yeah, even if a vaccine is out -- it's going to take a few months for a majority of people to feel comfortable getting it.

@Poker Player you’re not the only one who’s going to be skipping these vaccines, as even the world number one tennis player has said that he’s not keen to take these vaccines. @squatz1 yea the FDA will definitely be checking these, but this time it’ll be produced and approved within months and that’s the scary part for me, hence I’m definitely skipping these vaccines, and would advise you’ll do the same too unless it’s a medical emergency.

Quote

“When we are used to five-year time frames, to see something go into human testing on March 17 is really a remarkable thing,” he told CNBC. “Does this guarantee success? Not necessarily. Vaccine development is characterised by a high failure rate – often 93% between animal studies and registration of a product.”

The discovery and research phase is normally two-to-five years, according to the Wellcome Trust. In total, a vaccine can take more than 10 years to fully develop and costs up to $500 million, the UK charity says.

Yeah probably after the Match yesterday against Chelsea it looks like Bayern Munich is in a good shape !
But they have a few games in Campions League if they get to the Final and this also cost some power and Energy.
If a few players get injured, which of course nobody wants , all is possible for the start in the new League.
But they have to win first against Barca on friday to get to the next round , will be an intresting game .

@Lafu Bayern Munich looks unstoppable to me and I’m sincerely hoping that we see them play against PSG or Manchester City soon, because only these two teams can offer some resistance to Bayern.

Furthermore I don’t think that Barcelona have any chance to stop Bayern from winning against them, because this season Bayern has showed that they can defeat anyone in their path, and in my personal opinion they have almost sealed the champions league trophy for themselves.
3948  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling.org Official Thread - Trusted Online Gambling Sites Since 1996! on: August 10, 2020, 03:48:05 AM
Hello Bitcointalk!

I wanted to introduce my website Gambling.org - its been operating since 1996!.

Just recently a new site on the domain. It was launched with a new logo too Smiley

Please let me know if the new gambling.org logo looks nice to you...

The new site is not really completed yet so please be easy on that side, I'd appreciate that!

I''ll post more information about gambling.org news updates as I get the news content sections added to the site going forward.

In brief: Gambling.org provides reviews of fair and legit gambling sites and has been in operation dating back to 1996. Surely its one of the oldest gambling sites on the entire internet Smiley

What's new becomes old and what's old becomes new again.
'
Its the cycle of life!

Please let me know if the new gambling.org logo looks nice to you...

The logo is okay. But the logo should not be your main focus. There are sites like this like sand on the beach. That's why you have to serve with good and trustworthy information and not a site that is overcrowded with text. This is good for search engine ranking but for me as a visitor this is too much. You should also integrate more colors into the page. At the moment black and white looks very boring. Also you are using standard bootstrap css colors which does not look good too. There is a ton of bootstrap css templates out there with much nicer themes.

agree on those points. also, as the OP said, they have been here since 1996 so why is it still hosted by WordPress? am assuming by now you already have sufficient funds to pay for your own server host.
and also, the list of your best online gambling sites, are all those fiat-based? i guess you need a separate section for all crypto-based online casinos, because you will have long list of that just by checking the gambling section of this forum

@bedroid there’s a big difference between registering a domain in 1996 and actually running a site on it, as I have seen from the Whois history the domain is indeed registered on 1996, but wayback machine shows changes were made in 1997 only. Also he’s not hosted on Wordpress that’s the platform he’s used to make the site, and further he seemed to be hosted on AWS as that’s what the Whois is showing.

Check his site details here:

...and sometimes logs out by itself when it is only a few minutes away but for me this is not a problem,
This is completely normal. It happened to me many times after about 10-15 mins of inactivity. Check your profile and settings. There might be a way to turn this off if it annoys you.

It's not unusual. If you ever used Ledger Live you would notice the same thing. Leave your computer on idle for 10 mins, and you would get logged out from the software. In the options it is possible to change the time limit or turn it off completely.
Yeah anytime there is a change in design of any website that you use for a long time, people just get mad at it because they are used to the old one and they want to keep using that one if they could. However after a while you do get used to the current newer version as well and you will not want to neither go back to old one or once again change for a newer one. That is how design changes on websites happen.

You can check the history of almost all websites that people used like facebook or reddit or whatever and you will see that whenever there is a new change to the design people all talk about how horrible the new one is, that goes on for like few months and after one year you hear nothing about it, people stop pushing for the old one to comeback and websites just take the old version possibility out.
Well sometimes it's a little annoying when the computer is idle for 10-15 minutes and have to type again to log in, maybe here I have to adjust it to get used to the new designs that have been developed so far whatever is new in the new Fortunejack design is indeed made as design as possible to make it more attractive and and still be liked by many people, especially users, and I think it's not a problem for me to keep using the new design even though sometimes I switch to the old one Grin.

@Pmalek I never use Ledger Live I just get used to what is available on the site so it is common for me to probably become accustomed to using a new design.

@$crypto$ I thought only I was facing this issue but it seems that this is the new normal, and like others have said we will have to get used to it but I do hope that later on they’ll provide a fix for it. Furthermore I haven’t switched back to the old design yet because I really love this new design, and switching back to the old design will make the site look dull when compared to the new design, so I’m really curious to know why do you keep switching back to the old design?.

^  Doubtful.  Was Nuno a former Barca player?  Barca has a tradition of hiring only former players as their manager afaik.  And I don't think he's ready for a big club just yet imho.  I do see him as a somewhat nice fit at clubs like Atletico or Tottenham.
I don't see him as a top club manager. He has very good connections in his home Portugal and knows/trusts Portuguese players the best. You can see how many Portuguese players are in Wolves at the moment, I remember one game when he had 7 first team Portuguese players in starting line up, all 7 bought after he took the job if I am not mistaken.

That is not something that can be done at the biggest scene.

@tokeweed Nuno is not a former Barcelona player, and I don’t think that he’ll drop the wolves project just yet, as I expect him to stick with wolves for at least one more year. @Trofo I wasn’t aware of his love for Portuguese player’s, but with that mentality he won’t ever get a job offer from a big club, unless he’s proves that he’s open to adapt and change his approach regarding the selection of his playing 11.

haha. A new generation of great coaches from legend midfielders? Pep, Zizou, Simeone, Frankie and now Andrea. I am a fan of Andrea when he was a player and I don't know how good he will be as a coach.
Yea read that news few hours ago and I was like lol, let's see how Pirlo gonna make Juventus great again Cheesy
1st objective: scoring directly from free kicks  Wink
It is a regret to see the transfer of Pjanic to Barca. If Pjanic is still in Juve, Pirlo will be able to teach him free-kick techniques.

A generation of FIFA World Cup 2006 in Berlin has some began their management career, Gennaro Gattuso, Pirlo, Inzaghi, Grosso. Do you know where is Alex? Very life news about Alex after he retired in Australian league.

I’m not at all surprised to see Sarri getting the sack, but I’m stunned to see Pirlo taking over because he has no experience of managing a club, and Juventus is a very big club to take as his first assignment. Also Gattuso has summed it up perfectly that “Well (Pirlo) he's screwed now”, and in my personal opinion it’ll be a miracle if he can last an entire season without getting sacked.

3952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: August 09, 2020, 07:14:07 AM
I think there is a huge overreaction going around Barcelona, I understand that Messi, their 15 year professional veteran has been getting old and he will soon retire, if not next season maybe in 2-3 or maybe even 4 seasons but he WILL retire, and I get that they need an overhaul of their team to a newer version and they need to do it quickly before their team starts to suck badly and so forth.

However you do realize Barcelona is the team we are talking about right? If they put out a team just from la masia players they would still be top 5 in la liga and that is a team purely from their youth players, so maybe there shouldn't be this much reaction. In the end they will find a way to figure out a way to get more money and they will do that to buy much better and younger players.
The issue with Barcelona players is that, all players centered on Messi as the main source of next step goal which is isn't right in the other hand,  Messi is getting older  in every new season making him loosing effectively on his style of play, Barcelona now needs a young coveted and talented players mainly in the defensive level, Gerald Pique  is weak side is starting to show gradually as Barça concedes goal in every matches played during this pandemic period. Their clashed with Napoli seems to be a great comeback on Barcelona next season in the laliga leagues games.
Barcelona's strength will be clearly visible in the game against Bayern. If the team plays with dignity, then there is hope for the next season. Otherwise, the team will be in deep crisis.

@Lordhermes if you look at the current Barcelona squad you’ll realise that they don’t have any big player other than Messi that can get them those winning goals, and I know some will cite Grizeman but he has completely flopped this season. Also @kassex in my personal opinion Barcelona will be thrashed by Bayern in their upcoming clash, and I’m expecting Bayern to score minimum three goals as Barcelona player’s won’t be able to contain Bayern's attacking player’s.

Backup your funds Once you have the 12 words located, please send them in a reply to this email and I will match the words on our system. Once this is done your wallet will be synchronised again.
Are you sure you got from the official blockchain wallet? I bet this is from a scammer, since blockchain is non-custodial wallet... they should not need your seed phrase to solve your problem. Anyway, don't share your seed phrase and keep it private.

Have you follow this instruction before?
If the address shown in your wallet is different from the address containing 0.13 BCH, it's likely that you are opening a wrong wallet.

Also, note that BCH can addresses can be shown in two different formats. A BCH address can be in CASHADDR format and starts with q instead of 1,
So, 17rzJ7TSDcHryiWRqiuYPE6zLmKWHLadtr and qp95fakuewt0pz45sck5daj9lwzykw57j5a4nfws30 are same addresses.

If you are sure that you are opening a correct wallet but your balance is not shown, you can export your seed phrase and import it into Electron Cash.
To do so, go to "Security Center" and click on "backup" button. Blockchain wallet will give you 12 words. (Keep these 12 words very secure and never reveal them to others.)
Download Electron Cash and create a new wallet. Select "I already have a seed", check BIP39 and enter those 12 words.
If you do all steps correctly and the wallet exported from blockchain wallet is the wallet containing BCH, you should be able to access your coins.

Note: Download Electron Cash only from the official website.

It's better if you lock your old topic and continue in this topic.

@Jawhead999 of course it’s a scam because blockchain would never have asked for his seed, and I sincerely hope that the op has not mailed them his wallets seed. Furthermore op when I was using BCH there were days when it would not show my balance because of some server error, but I kept on waiting and eventually after few days the balance automatically came. Lastly as I was new to crypto’s I found their desktop version a bit hard to use, so I used their mobile app, and it was very simple to operate hence I would recommend you to use their mobile app to check your balance.

The company really needs the team to raise their profile and give them some sales and recognition.   They should be highly motivated to succeed and make a mark if nothing else because its so important.

I presume everyone here is interested in F1 so its relevant to mention you can claim a PC edition of F1 2018 free if you want to store it away for a rainy day, no hassle to claim and register on steam I found and I know the site for years -

Thats not referral, go via google if preferred just a free game and a good one.

@STT I believe that in coming year’s they will have their chance to compete, because all teams will have to reduce their spendings from 2021 onwards which in turn will even the play for all the cars that are racing in F1. Also I checked out that gaming site and it’s indeed an legit site, and for F1 lovers this is a nice freebie as it’s worth $49 but free for 2 more days.

@Priya Chowdhury of course everyone loves T20, and even though it’ll be really weird to watch the match without the spectators, I’m yet excited for this year’s IPL tournament.

IPL is searching for the main sponsor since VIVO is put on hold and none of the companies they approached are willing to take on that sponsorship.

@SaShiRaJaVu you’re correct as for the first time since IPL has began BCCI is facing a difficult situation as they cannot allow VIVO to stay on board, and rest Indian companies have the backing of China’s corporates which will trigger anti Chinese sentiments as per BCCI sources. However do you’ll really believe that BCCI won’t be be able to find main sponsor for the IPL, because I strongly feel that some company will soon sign up and seal the deal with BCCI.

Quote

BCCI is facing another hitch of sorts. The board faced severe backlash owing to the Anti-China sentiment due to which they have already lost VIVO as the title sponsor of the league. The apprehension doing the rounds behind BCCI’s corridors is, will board face flak one more time courtesy anti-China wave if they get any company on board for IPL 2020 with the Chinese investments. Byju’s, PayTM and Dream11 are all Indian grown businesses but on the back of Chinese investments.

“All of these companies are BCCI’s partners. They are Indian entities but we are little concerned about very strong Anti-China undercurrent. We don’t want to speculate on how people will react if any of them come on board”, said one of the BCCI official.

It is not the first time the American government forces foreign companies to sell their assets. They might benefit from this in the short term, but in the long run they are only saying to foreign companies not to invest in the USA because they will blackmail them at the end...
They have done this with several oil services companies, Huawei and now Tiktok. The excuses are especially lame with TikTok, because they are ok with the information the company is collecting, they are just not ok with who is collecting it.

Its always been the strategy to stop its companies progress. It hasn't been the first time the yare doing this. Huawei is just an example and there had been companies from Japan as well.

But its always been presentd to the public that American market is a free market but its defintiely not the case with few Chinese products already.
Yeah, it is clear now that the American market (and regulations) are now mostly controlled by lobbies paid by the major companies to pass them favorable legislation...
If people believe in democracy and change by the people, they should vote for parties with true free market ideals (such as the libertarian party).

I don’t understand why people are so angry with Trump’s move to ban an app that’s been stealing their privacy, and further as far as I know China has blocked google, Facebook and other Americans sites, but no one seems to be complaining about China’s moves to block American sites?. Lastly no one in their right mind will vote for Libertarian party, because even people are aware that they cannot fulfil any promises that they make before the elections.

Still a 50-50 situation in the match. Pakistan lead by 244 and if england can restrict them within 250 then that will be easy for England, but Pakistan will be looking for anything above 275.

The big question is what will be the safe score for Pakistan ? There are only two wickets left for them and i don't see them making a big score from here onwards. At least i am not sure at this moment who will win this match. Perhaps it will depend on how England will bat last on this wicket.

England have made a superb comeback in this test match and this has made the test match more interesting as match can now swing in any direction. Pakistan is leading by 244 runs and they would try that remaining 2 wickets if can add another 30 runs will reach near 275. Though will this score be enough is a doubtful, but if Pakistan breaks through early in England innings might be enough.

@onrise yea anything can happen in this game, because if you see the last few series of England’s Test matches, then you’ll observe that they have lost the opening match in all those series. However I’m yet not feeling confident to wager on Pakistan, because if England player’s don’t loose wickets early in their innings, then they will definitely win this game as they have a strong batting lineup.

In eight of their last ten Test series, England have lost the first Test match, including the losses against Pakistan at Lord's in 2016 and 2018. Against West Indies, in the recently concluded series too, England lost the first Test at Southampton.

2 days ago I make some deposit on stake.com and I want continue my previous bet, but I see some weird thing on my old bet "My old bet was disappear" it means I can't find my history old bet event on bet archive is nothing about it, and after looking more often on "transactions tab > Deposits > Withdrawals >Bets > Other > even Vault" the only trace about my balance when I was bet is on Deposit.

Have you lost money? I mean can't you repeat your bet history, like go place the bet again? Stake had a lot of positive reviews as it is still fair to its customers. Maybe such issues were just caused by a bug. But there are also a possible (less likely to happen) reason, that you're network connection were slow making such features disappear (in which is see was too impossible if you can access other pages with no technical faults).

As most would recommend you to do, better wait or send the stake admins here in the forum with the matter. Lock this once everything was solved.

@istimewa99 first of all I don’t think that it’s right to claim that Stake is not fair, and secondly since you haven’t mentioned whether your bet got settled or no so I’m assuming that it got settled but it’s yet not credited. Therefore I would suggest you to login in Stake, click on account then click on sports bet, and then lastly click on settled bets hopefully you should see your bet history there.

Thanks a lot for the support ^)
We will try all our best to make a lot of competitions and challenges for new (and not only) players.
Hope people from this forum will like our giveaways, rounds etc.

@Indymoney it seems that their manager was active for a while, but suddenly (he/she) stopped posting any new updates regarding their site since the last few days. Furthermore I’m not sure what went wrong, but they need to hire an experienced person to update their threads on a regular basis. @windice giveaways and competitions are always welcome, and I hope that we will see more regular updates from you’ll on this Ann.

Mate, BDT is the fiat currency of Bangladesh. I used to buy sell BTC locally to make some profit since I have both some buyers and sellers. And there's no way you can get rid of the high fee now. Coinbase is better since they use batch payment now and fee is proportionally low but it's very risky to use coinbase for such trades because source of BTC can be illegal too.

I feel you man in my case I cannot transfer Bitcoin I've earned from campaign  to our local wallet without incurring high fees, I have to wait for more coins to come to my wallet, I cannot use my local wallet for my campaign  because they are changing my local address from time to time
i once incurred $4 fees for $5 transfer, really not worth to transfer a small amount.

@Little Mouse indeed it’s very risky to use coinbase as they may force you to submit your details for KYC purposes, and that’s why I left them because I was not comfortable revealing my personal information to them.

Also @pilosopotasyo these days bitcoin fees have shot up tremendously as I had to pay $23 in fees for a small transaction, and normally I would have paid just $1 - $3 for the same transaction.

Lastly the only option I can think of saving fees is by setting them manually in the electrum wallet, and hence I’m sharing the guide here in case anyone else is facing similar issue of bitcoin fees being too high.

How to set fees manually:
