3961  Economy / Economics / Re: What you will do if bitcoin price drops to 50$ and you have lots of bitcoin on: October 04, 2015, 10:11:48 PM

3962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poll result: NXT is a proper cryptocurrency on: October 04, 2015, 10:09:20 PM
Almost 2 million NXT was sold out at this event:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NXT/comments/3n9vvw/nearly_2_mil_nxt_in_under_an_hour_cryptofund_is/

Opinions? (it sure raises capital better than ETH)

it was around 9m NXT total

That's even better, but it does not boost the price so much, 9 M is only 0.9% of the total supply so it hardly affects the price.

However this was a nice PR event, so it was worth it, good job guys, NXT is on the path to success!
3963  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which is the best defragmentation software and why on: October 04, 2015, 10:07:23 PM
Defrag is obsolete from windows xp, this was used in dos days now you dont need except if you are using DOS.

Correct.  As of Windows 7, defragmentation is done automatically, in the background.

You don't need third part defrag software.

Or you could use linux and not have to worry about crappy file system designs. Windowses are very badly designed, they were the best software company in the days and had the best programmers but still managed to put out very buggy OS's full of errors, bugs and the famous blue screen.

This can all be avoided with linux, while its not totally perfect, its maintenance is more efficient ,and it doesnt install annoying updates in your PC.
3964  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: October 04, 2015, 09:53:41 PM
So can we extrapolate anything from this regarding trouble with their sovereign debts? (I notice there is no Japan).

Japan is within "holding steady" (1-4% decline)

I don't know why it isn't included in the group of "flags" but you can see that from the colors on the map.

Yea sure they are very "steady"

The clock is ticking man:  http://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/debtclock/japan

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/japan/money-supply-m3

So they`ve got a national debt of    1,224,265,611,767,395 JPY for a total money supply (M3) of 1,230,869,800,000,000 JPY , geez I wonder how will they pay off the debt? (and this is just government debt, not counting in unfunded liabilities and private debt). Whereas the total debt would be much higher than M3.

3967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: October 03, 2015, 07:44:07 PM
I think bitcoin is the best because way more online and offline merchants accept bitcoin rather than altcoins.

Yea but with Bitpay thats not an issue anymore. Yes in the future cryptocurrency should be sovereign, but currently merchants will just swap it to fiat with Bitpay.

But I do think that in terms of ROI you can make more money with litecoin as an investment,
3968  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the safest way to store Bitcoins? on: October 03, 2015, 07:41:47 PM

The problem remains though if you have an infected computer and access a CD or USB it can get the information from when you access it, with a security breach.  So even though a CD cannot be written to again (assuming used a regular cd).   If you get your wallet.dat off cd and use it the virus/malware could have accessed it.

The only way CD or USB data remains safe is if host computer is not infected.  If it's infected either one of the ways could possibly lose the file to the security problem.

I agree but atleast it keep the data untouched. A cryptolocker would be fatal on the other hand. Even if they dont get your money, they can make sure that you dont get it either.

So thats why everybody should have atleast 2-3 CD backups with a wallet to avoid this disaster.
3969  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: October 03, 2015, 07:39:13 PM
Guys you surely realized by now that 99.99% of the advices on this thread are fake and useless.

The only way people will be come rich is

1) They create something extraordinary and ultra innovative that people will have big demand for
2) They have alot of capital and use it to create more money
3) They get lucky and win some jackpot

Sorry there is no other way, anybody who says it is is just a wishful thinker.
3970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the safest way to store Bitcoins? on: October 03, 2015, 07:32:04 PM
To all people who said to put wallet.dat in a USB stick, you are wrong
if the USB stick get infected by a virus, the virus might delete (or corrupte) wallet.dat file
so I recommend burning in into a CD using a burn studio to deny viruses from doing anything to the file

But the USB stick would have to get infected from something.  So if the USB get's infected your computer is infected and the USB stick was infected second.

So no matter what usb stick or cd.  The infected computer could compromise the wallet.dat (or other files).  When they are being loaded on computer.   This is why you really should only use it with a clean computer.  If you use one that you surf or worse torrent with there is a bigger chance of it being infected.

If a USB stick is unpluged and cold storage it cannot be hacked unless host computer is compromised when it plugs in.

If you wanna hold the wallet for long term (and its a deterministic waller), then you burn it into a CD to avoid cryptolocker and other shit.

If you use the wallet frequently then an USB is good, but always have multiple backups in case of a cryptolocker infection.

3972  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Brazil has more than 150 stores that accept bitcoin on: October 03, 2015, 07:22:33 PM
Taking into consideration how volatile the Brazilian Real is, we will have many more stores accepting Bitcoin in the future in Brazil.

We just started a discussion about this problem in another thread. Feel free to join:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1199478.msg12589945#msg12589945

No shit, almost all of south america is in economic turmoil. All their currencies is going south, and soon the rest of the world will join.

I dont know how friendly the governments will be (ecuador banned bitcoin...) but one thing is certain that the citizens wont let their hard earned wealth being flushed down the toilet.

So good luck S America with bitcoin!
3973  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to make a living online? on: October 03, 2015, 07:19:21 PM

If you follow adsense private policy and if you don't brake their terms and conditions then why do they ban you?

Most of the users who got issues with adsense is they have tried some kind of blackhat method to increase their revenue and caught that's why they ban. I have an account for last few years and so for no issues but they do send me couple of warning emails to remove some content from my blogs.

I heard of stories where people were banned just to not get paid. They were banned right before payday, and then whatever they earned was cancelled.

Even if you follow their rules, it can be interpreted very vaguely and can be banned mostly for anything.
3974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik writes Dear John letter to the Ethereum community... on: October 03, 2015, 07:13:10 PM

Just have a look at the 'transparent accounting'.

We will have transparent accounting

Well if they would work really hard on the ETH project and would be very dedicated, then they would have settled with low salary and use the rest of the funds to promote ETH, or finance conferences.

Instead they just keep hyping the coin with useful idiots, while they funnel all the cash away in their pockets. It is so classical  Grin

I mean they dont hire rocket scientists that need huge salary to keep them loyal, these are just average programmers, thant dont need to be that greedy.
3975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: October 03, 2015, 07:09:43 PM
I just found out about this reddit event:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NXT/comments/3n9vvw/nearly_2_mil_nxt_in_under_an_hour_

Man this currency will rock soon, I mean it is definitely going back into the spotlight now as ETH is sinking, but remember these suggestions please:

1) Well for start in cryptocurrency conferences, that would be the nr. 1 priority, to have an increases Public Opinion ( a PR team is definitely needed).
A few banners setup in all cryptocurrency conferences, would cost a few hundred 100$ but so what, it would have a big return on investment, once people would start investing in NXT.

2) Then we would need more NXT conferences, that are just for NXT or hosted by NXT members and talking about Bitcoin 2.0 projects

3) Then double down on social media, you need to assemble a marketing team too, to specially promote it on all social media sites in an organized way (bounty, giveaways, organize tournaments [ perhaps hook up with some gamers to organize gaming tournaments like many other coins do] , events, etc.)

4) Then improve the SEO of the NXT website and make sure it pops up on first google page if somebody writes in "cryptocurrency"

etc.

These are just a few of my ideas, but should be fairly easy to do, with little or no costs, just a bit of organization and professionalism Cheesy

3977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: October 03, 2015, 07:04:50 PM
Lol are you serious guys? So ETH was proven to be a scam?

I was just replying to other threads talking about ETH being suspicious, but this really confirms my suspicions.

So if ETH is a scam, then i`m not even that surprized because i suspected this for a long time. It is promising too much but doesnt deliver jackshit, not even a wallet is ready lol.

Ah c`mon man you posted the same picture in 4 different threads. I am not certain, but I have a feeling, just a gut feeling that things will go bad for ethereum.

Why? Because it would not be the first crypto that was a scam. There are scams every week here, some are busted in 1 week, some tend to last 1 year. But when a staff pays 180,000$ to employees for little or no work, then you have to question their abilities.
3978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Ship sinking!!!! on: October 03, 2015, 07:01:57 PM
IMO, ethereum doesn't hold any revolutionary qualities and shouldn't be an altcoin that one would invest for the long run.  I truly think it was meant to be a hype kind of coin for pump and dumpers to make a quick buck on.

It could hold, but it doesnt.

If they fulfill their promises and implement all those features in it, then it will be very sensational.

If they dont then it will be a pump and dump scam. I tend to think the 2nd is more likely at this point.
3979  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: ★ What's your contribution to Bitcoin? ★ on: October 03, 2015, 06:53:16 PM
I once ran a node, but due to time issues and the space for the machine running it is too small, I had to stop it. Also, I referred some friends to use bitcoin and now, they regularly use it for buying things online. Not much of a contribution, but every little bit helps.

I do have a full blockchain on my PC but I rarely leave it running, I personally cannot help technically bitcoin, but I can help promote it, or invest in bitcoin and thus let other businesses thrive.

I did invest in NXT, and what I can tell is that that will bring a lot of people into crypto in general. I think the NXT-BTC link is unquestionably strong and vital to the existence of cryptocurrencies.

No shit, it's like these people don't bother to read anything on the forum to learn before they ask questions. But I guess their questions are our personal gain...

Yes we get paid from signature campaigns, thats our luck, but that doesnt mean that we should turn the forum into a chaotic spam farm.
