3961  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: South Korean Lawmakers Greenlight Strict Crypto AML Bill on: March 12, 2020, 04:36:28 AM
This goes to show how serious and determined the South Koreans are when it comes to combatting money laundering and other nefarious activities being done with the help of cryptocurrencies. They are actually doing thinga to improve the standard of trading and security so as to prevent criminals from perusing crypto to launder money within their region. Also, the steps they are taking are in no way deterring serious market players to come inside of their country and do their business there, and is actually a challenge to improve services and the way how businesses handle their thing.

Absolutely! Usually the AML and KYC laws are seen negatively by the crypto community because it doesn't go with the initial idea of cryptocurrencies. But we also need to understand that cryptos can be very easily used by the criminals because of its pseudo-anonymous nature and it's not a myth. We already have silk route as an example! I am glad that South Korea is trying to bring regulation instead of imposing a blanket ban. It would have been much easier for them, but they are taking the pain to regulate it and trying to bring confidence back in the market. Such kind of regulation would not make legal players worried, but would keep criminals outside the market.
3962  Local / India / Re: Unocoin bank deposits n withdrew starts from today on: March 11, 2020, 07:10:42 PM
Unocoin is going live with bank account deposits and withdrawals by 11.30 AM today (March 5th)   Grin Grin

https://twitter.com/Unocoin/status/1235434598470791168

While it's a good news for Indian crypto community as a whole, but I would still suggest you guys to stay extra cautious while dealing with a known Indian crypto exchange. RBI will soon file a review petition to Supreme Court. The Yes Bank dilemma is probably holding them back for a while, but it will happen in due course of time!

Banks can categorize your account as cryptocurrency related account and take necessary steps to harass the account holder. People may face retaliation from Income Tac department due to such information passed to them by banks.

Personally, I try to stay alert to avoid any legal issues and it just doesn't feel right at this moment!
3963  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tether Treasury Mints Another $60m USDT!! is it going to effect bitcoin price? on: March 11, 2020, 06:55:19 PM

one of the most important thing about bitcoin is the other side of it(usdt),so there will be more 60 million usdt in markets very soon.
are investors and Whales going to make a big move ?
is this news going to help and be a enough powerful to increase bitcoin price ?
or having alot of usdt in markets will not going to help at all?

The market will possibly react in a positive way. Increasing number of Tether will increase the liquidity in the market which is definitely a plus because Tether is primarily used for trading and capital protection.

If you visit coinmarketcap website and sort the list based on volume, you will see that Tether has a market cap of 4.63 billion USD but the daily volume is 45 billion USD. No other cryptocurrency has such kind of volume which suppresses its market cap. So I expect the market to behave in a positive way!
3964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending Bitcoin through SMS/Text Messaging? on: March 11, 2020, 06:05:46 PM
I'm looking for a way to send Bitcoin to people in countries which lack Internet access. After all, being able to send Bitcoin in a safe and secure way over SMS/Text messaging would prove to be extremely convenient for "offline" transactions. For once, I've heard about a crypto service which allowed people to send Bitcoin over SMS/Text messaging. But I can't recall its name. Still though, it relies on a central operator/middleman. I'd prefer a solution that would allow me to send BTC though SMS/Text messaging in the most decentralized way possible.

Do you think it's possible to do this? Are you aware of any methods to sent BTC through SMS/Text messaging without relying on third parties? If it cannot be done in a decentralized manner, I'd still like to know if there are mainstream companies offering such possibility to Bitcoin users. Thanks in advance. Smiley

As per my knowledge, there is jot such service available. However, if such services were available, that would have been a great addition to the crypto community. I can only think about a way.

Create a lite wallet from any provider where you don't need to download the entire blockchain. Load that wallet with required number of bitcoins. Copy the seed words or private key and send that through sms to the recipient. That's the most decentralized way of sending bitcoin through sms that I can think off.
3965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Robber Bank: Can America ever rid itself of Wells Fargo? on: March 11, 2020, 04:42:25 PM
It's absolutely wrong for banks to see cryptos as a threat to their business. Because we have heard wonderful news from banks in Germany in 2020, that they are going to accept crypto deposits in 2020. Read the news below,

https://news.bitcoin.com/german-banks-authorized-to-store-and-sell-cryptocurrency-in-2020/

This problem is mainly a war between the progressive and regressive mentality. Progressive people/entity will feel intrigued to know more about cryptos and regressive people/entity will see it as a threat from the very beginning. That's what is happening for Banks and an old school investor like Mr. Buffet!
3966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos talking about Bitcoin in 2013 on: March 11, 2020, 02:11:12 PM
Just 5 people in attendance, bitcoin is still in its infancy that time, but makes me wonder how those 5 are doing today? probably millionaires, or some sort of whales by today.  Smiley

Perhaps, or maybe they all ended up like this guy:

I got into Bitcoin in 2013 myself. I regrettably did not manage to hold onto most of my bitcoins from those days. Almost everyone from earlier years has a story like that -- spending, gambling, trading, or otherwise losing much of their bitcoin stash -- so don't feel too bad. Wink

Possible! I still think about the condition of Mr. Laszlo Hanyecz who actually spent 10k bitcoins for two pizzas! He would have become a multi-millionaire by today but missed the boat unfortunately.

I am sure there are thousands of people with the same story. I myself sold off few bitcoins at 450 USD each. I could have paid off my mortgage if I had kept those bitcoins until 2017. We are all destined, so there's no point of regretting!
3967  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Needs a Rational Value Investing Model on: March 11, 2020, 05:56:06 AM
Quote from the article:

Quote
Investing in digital assets is a sham! Participants in this industry are simply trying to anticipate price movements rather than use fundamental analysis to determine why a token or coin might go higher or lower. There is no intrinsic value. It’s pure speculation based on technical analysis. It’s outright gambling.

I completely agree with it! Crypto market has always been a speculator's heaven, but that didn't happen overnight! The volatility of crypto prices has lead the market to this regime and now it's almost impossible to get out of it. But it's not just the volatility, it's also about the lack of fundamentals. That's the reason why old-school investors like Warren Buffet has never find crypto interesting or even worthy of investment. Because cryptos can never have a profit-loss book, it doesn't have accounting to match the real world stock market filling. So how can the fundamentals will come from?

Value investing model is standing on the principles of fundamentals, which decentralized cryptos can never have (I am not talking about XRP here)! It was a speculative asset, it is a speculative asset and it will remain as a speculative asset in future as well!
3968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stock Market took a huge dive, Cryptocurrency follows on: March 11, 2020, 05:03:49 AM
@avikz a correlation like?

I know a lot of people usually say "no relation" "coincidence" etc but it's not true. Often traditional markets and Bitcoin behave the same way. Not only during the bad periods, during the good ones too. There are so many opportunities to see it.
And why it shouldn't be? Bitcoin has more people using it as an investment that people using it for real cases, I mean BTC is traded like the traditional markets.

Stock market is based on fundamentals. Stock market is regulated. Every index is built on some certain stock indexes, like Nifty in India is built on 50 stock indexes, Nikkei in Japan is built on 225 blue-chip stock index. The calculation is more complex but this is the basic of stock market indexes. So stock markets are bound by geography. So they are more prone to the local issues rather than the global issues. Like in China, a lot of local industries and factories are shut due to COVID-19. So it's no wonder that Chinese stock market is facing a big hit. So when Chinese stock market was started to drop, bitcoin was still increasing to 10k regime, precisely during end of Feb to beginning of March. So it's highly unlikely for bitcoin to imitate the behavior of traditional stock market.

For the same reason, technical analysis that works on stock market, doesn't always works on crypto market, because crypto market serves a global audience. It's not easy to use the existing techniques to capture the human emotion of such broader geography!
3969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PLUS Token Scam Dumps Another 13,000 BTC - Another reason for the BTC drop? on: March 10, 2020, 07:45:22 PM
Even if we consider this thing as the cause of dump in bitcoin price then what has caused the dumping of all other coins as well? Eth reached 288 few days ago and now it is back below 200 same goes for all major coins, i think this correction was necessary to move forward and also it was triggered by many other factors but halving and other events will hopefully be very positive for crypto market.

I don't know why you think the correlation is necessary to move forward but the OP makes sense! Everything moves based on a simple formula - demand supply! 13,000 BTC is a big amount and if such amount of bitcoins have flooded the market, the price is destined to go down! Simply because the supply has gone up as compared to the demand. Covid-19 has possibly affected local industries but how can it affect bitcoin market because it is not bound by any geography and Covid-19 has not yet become a global epidemic. The current market crash we are seeing, is possibly due to the huge number of selling pressure from plus token scammers!
3970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stock Market took a huge dive, Cryptocurrency follows on: March 10, 2020, 06:54:23 PM
Hate to be the bearer of bad news...
Well, bad for some, good for others.

Such is life...same as that song:

"The power of love, is a curious thing,
make a one man weep, and another man sing"

Could be perfectly translated into Trading, just change the word "love" with "market"

As of today, March 9th, 2020:
Stocks Index Dow Jones is down by $2000 (-8%)
Cryptocurrency Market cap is down by $18B (-7,8%)

What do you make of it?

Source

Indeed stock markets are bleeding around the world and crypto market is no exception. But the question is that, are they correlated? Frankly speaking, I don't see any correlation between crypto market and traditional stock market. It may just be a coincidence that both markets are facing the heat at the same time. The current drop of crypto prices may be linked to the heavy sell off from two well known scam in crypto history - Plus token and MTGox. Read below,

https://coingape.com/bitcoin-scam-sell-off-mt-gox-plustoken/

This news makes more sense!

3971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does anyone pay for slandering gambling websites on Bitcointalk? on: March 10, 2020, 05:47:36 PM
In several threads in the gambling section, I noticed "Newbie" accounts that try to slander the name of the gambling website in any possible way.
Some often sounds very trustworthy - they certainly have experience.
Do you also think that competitors pays for slandering?

I would say yes! Since this gambling market is largely unregulated, the shady owners indulge themselves in such shady practice. The funny part is that, such accounts are new accounts and only created to accuse famous and well-known gambling websites. For the same reason, a lot of gambling review websites have stopped accepting public reviews because that never reflected actual state of the website. It's always better to test a website on your own and then decide! Remember, we only have a few gambling websites in cryptospace, who are legally registered entity! Majority of other websites are unregulated and run by a kid from home!
3972  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Skilled trader or bullshitter? 📈 on: March 10, 2020, 05:16:23 PM
Yes  Smiley similar to eToro, but one important difference. You do not have to move your funds to Altpocket, you can keep trading at the exchanges you prefer.

You can find traders to follow in the performance toplists and get notifications in your phone as soon as they make a trade.

Are you guys also building a copy trading in future where users will be able to follow top traders of their choice and the platform will execute trades proportionate to their investment?

I think that will be very handy for a lot of trading enthusiasts who have the money but not the expertise to try real world trading. You can check a platform called "FBS" if you want to know what exactly I am talking about.
3973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for a FIAT to Crypto payment gateway for website on: March 10, 2020, 05:10:45 PM
Is there any service for merchant, where a payment gateway provider will receive payment in credit card and then send you BTC

Thanks

Probably Bitpay can help! Get in touch with their support team to know more about their offerings. Bitpay is one of the most oldest and trusted settlement provider in this market for cryptocurrency. If you have a good volume, they may be able to offer some customized solution as well. It's better for you to get in touch with them to see if they will send your bitcoin payment instead of fiat. They are mostly used for crypto to fiat settlement for the merchants. But exception can be made I guess!
3974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power plant in New York set up its own Bitcoin mining farm! on: March 10, 2020, 01:47:01 PM
I would call it a smart business decision. Usualy power plants sell their unused power to other power companies or send it to the national electricity grid. Technically it is not possible to store large amount of electricity for a long ime. So using excess energy to run a bitcoin mining farm, is a smart decision which would definitely have a positive impact on its books!
3975  Economy / Economics / Re: Help of cryptocurrency in globalization. on: March 09, 2020, 07:23:18 PM
Even without the existence of crypto, globalization has long started within each country. Just the fact that international groups among countries have been formed is proof that each and every country is operating, or at least, wishes to operate in an international scale. Crypto can be one aspect to achieve/prosper in terms of globalization, but it's just a drop in terms of its level. But, in all honesty, operating in an international scale doesn't mean agreeing with a few countries objectives/purpose. In the end, globalization would prosper, but only based on how individual countries do their thing. And, if one country goes up, one country would surely go down, that kind of cycle. I mean, I'm pretty sure we all understand how hungry for power countries are right?
but globalization presume all countries move a little bit towards each other. So every country should become a little less hungry for power each day and each year. So we could meet global currency one day

I really love your confidence! But unfortunately the leaders don't think in similar line. For them, power is more important than anything else! For example, you look at Russia, India, China and US. All of these countries are rules by such leaders who believe in achieving supremacy even at the cost of human lives. So there's no way, they will become less hungry, at least in our lifetime!

Bitcoin is just a currency system controlled by none. It doesn't have to power to bring all nations under one umbrella!
3976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do due to the huge market collapse of the Bitcoin? on: March 09, 2020, 03:41:20 PM
It's highly unlikely for Corona Virus to affect bitcoin's price. Bitcoin is not limited by an geographical border so the way local industries have impacted due to Coronavirus, the same impact can't be seen on bitcoin.

It seems, the current drop is linked with a $120 million sell of from scam proceedings. Read below,

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoins-sharp-price-drop-may-have-been-prompted-by-100m-scam-selloff

It makes more sense than Coronavirus news!
3977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amid Growing Covid-19 Concerns Is Bitcoin a Safe Haven for US Stock Traders? on: March 09, 2020, 01:35:42 PM
With  Covid-19 spreading at exponential rates it is having a major impact on the stock markets and there are growing fears amongst US stock traders. While the US stock market seems to be in a free fall Bitcoin has been on the rise, which accounting to this article, is making it a safe haven for US Stock Traders: https://coins.newbium.com/post/30029-bitcoin-is-a-safe-haven-for-us-stock-traders-amid

With no end in sight, Covid-19 may very well trigger the next global recession but do you think Bitcoin could play a role in rescuing the situation?

Bitcoin is on the rise?? - Have you checked the market since today morning?

The free fall of bitcoin market shows that it can't become a safe heaven. When we try to find a safe heaven, we look for stable price. And looking at bitcoin right at this moment, it doesn't look worthy of becoming a safe heaven.

3979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not an article about Bitcoin: "I accidentally sent £1,000 to the wrong account" on: March 09, 2020, 04:35:34 AM
In banking system, you still have something called "banking ombudsman" where you can complain about it. There are legal ways that can be undertaken in order to receive the money back. You can also visit the consumer court to correct this mistake! So in banking system, you still have certain hope that this money can be recovered.

In bitcoin, you can't go to anyone if you make such mistake. Once it is gone, it's gone permanently. You can check in blockchain if this money is being spent or not, but you can't do anything!

Tyga is a coin designed with smart contracts to deflate 2% after a transaction

And how exactly it would happen? Can you please explain?

95% of coins will be airdropped in our airdrop and bounty programs.

How do you ensure that people will not be selling those off immediately after receiving it? Also how would you ensure that people will actually buy it through exchanges? That's a practical challenge that every new altcoin faces!
