3961  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach 18600$ level in this week ends? on: July 11, 2022, 11:32:46 AM
Looks like we're going to just about fall short of a Sunday stand, some selling pressure just as N America stirred, and we're only hours away from Asian markets opening, though I suppose the good news is that 20k does seem like serious support. Some FUD from Mt Gox as usual, and then we should hear more about some US and Asian macros next week. See you all next Sunday, I guess.
+1

Wait and see , it's not even a fall ... nearly touching over 22k and now dropped to below 21k , we can recover it really fast to break the resistance within a couple hours from now.
We are heading back to bullish , not formed yet but pretty soon and yeah let's seen on the next week market move then we might talk again!

Well, the whole point is that it's just as easily able to fall through support as it is to break resistance -- in normal market conditions. But we're not really in any regular conditions, sentiment is so fragile that any development from macro trends seems to send either jitters throughout or boost confidence -- and that only for a moment.

I'd love to say we're headed back to bullish but there simply isn't enough signs of that, while there's plenty of bad news pain left around the corner.
3962  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Cost to Mine 1 BTC in every country on: July 11, 2022, 09:24:00 AM
This is a very interesting graphic since it shows at what price a miner would be selling his coins for and therefore it does influence the market quite a lot. What I think is a big problem is that they don't show the power costs that they actually used to calculate this. In many countries the cost of power can be very different for companies and private persons, so if they don't say the calculate with for example 0,25 USD per KWH then its is not as helpful as it could have been.

But the methodology is based on cost of power -- you can open the original link shared and dig in deeper. Which is why I commented that this pricing isn't entirely accurate, it's only based on commercial consumption cost by directly connecting to power grids. As you know, not all miners would do that, and not all miners pay the same rates -- like it used to be in China, where they'd be able to negotiate independent rates with state energy providers. If the other stats are true (like from Bitcoin Policy Institute numbers) then most miners already are on renewables and alternative energy sources -- so I doubt most of them are paying these rates.

The data's just indicative of how much you'd pay if you just decided to plug in and mine.
3963  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was $17.5K the low? on: July 11, 2022, 08:50:55 AM
With everyone expecting this negative effect, there's a good chance it's already been priced in imo. In the same context of "buy the rumour, sell the news", then bears appear to have already "sold the rumour", the question is whether they will then "buy the news" as it were. It would be very bullish if when this negative news arrives Bitcoin doesn't dump afterwards, that much is sure.

For now in the short-term, price seems relatively strong despite impending bad news on it's way. That much is a positive sign for now.

Yup, and we saw that the last rate hike too, all that nosediving happened an entire week before the actual announcement, and as soon as the 0.75 rate was confirmed, we actually saw a recovery. Not sure now how it'll all look like as we look headed down to test 20k again before US Monday arrives, but I suspect we'll see a repeat recovery IF rate is the same. Job numbers actually was surprisingly good so if the rate hike is a little lower than expected then we could very well see a strong surge out of oversold area.
3964  Bitcoin / Mining / Cost to Mine 1 BTC in every country on: July 11, 2022, 07:16:12 AM
Just came across this, published last month, but don't recall seeing anything like it on the forum, so just sharing.

Original article by 911 Metallurgist, it's got the rates for some other crypto too but I'm just going to share the one for Bitcoin: Cost to mine 1 Bitcoin in every country.

I knew Asia was expensive, but not THAT expensive. Also, I think this is the cost of grid electricity. I know in my part of the world, for example, some miners want to experiment with natural gas generators. Far, far cheaper, no one would plug into the grid!

Kuwait, though!

CSL63's third yellow cap, I knew he was a long-game hustler, watch out for him in the football pools Wink Well done, bastards.

Second sub-10 point race for me, amazed to still be in 6th -- it looks catchable, 12 points away "only" but every race the margins are so tight it's going to take a lot of mistakes for top boys right now.

Anyone else really happy with Hamilton?

3967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who is your favorite artist for Bitcoin artworks? on: July 10, 2022, 04:50:54 PM
^^Yeah, quite pleased to have met Pascal on forum, he went on to do some interviews and then introduced us to his wider network of Bitcoin artists, also very cool people and actually artistic...  Offence meant to the majority of NFT artists heh.

Nanu Berks was another we interviewed after they did an exhibit in France, Argentinian IIRC.

Also to note they were part of a broader movement back then (the yellow jackets in France) so I dig those kinds of art and activism. And Bitcoin spoke loudly for them.

Man what a battle. Going to have to tear away to deal with real life but hope Nick pulls off the 4th set to take it all the way. Should end up with a small profit regardless of result, hedged all the way. Live odds weren't as interesting as I imagined. Bookies refused to budge on Djokovic despite the Aussie's serve masterclass in set 1.
3969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: July 10, 2022, 03:23:44 PM
Dang, not good for me, but good for the season, still quite a ways for LeClerc to catch up but could prove to be a precious 6 points, but man the gap between 1/2 and the rest of the best -- Hamilton must be grinning ear to ear though with that finish! Nice going, boltz!

Sainz who won the pole (and finally the race) was quoted as 5.35! And Verstappen as 1.66. Therefore, today's chances are a little closer to reality, given that this time Verstappen will start from first place. But I agree that it makes no sense to bet on such a ridiculous odds, since, apart from other riders, technical problems and accidents can interfere with the distribution of places.

Yeah, absolute waste of time, wonder how many people got burned today and every other race where the top 2 favs just don't make it. To just break even you've to win 2 races, not my cup of tea.
3970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: General Information: Bet-at-home license suspended on: July 10, 2022, 02:31:16 PM
Be nice to know what exactly was failed at.

If I had to guess, social responsibility is failure to prevent self-excluded players from creating new accounts, or failure to implement hardcore self exclusion. Think a lot of crypto casinos might be on alert after this.

Money laundering, that's probably bad news for players who hate KYC, and more reason for casinos to request them even if not required (since won't know what their threshold is, they'll just wave that AML phrase to justify).
3971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: July 10, 2022, 12:46:21 PM
^ Didn't realise somehow it was always closer before, but I never thought anything below 3/1 was good value for race winner, much less odds half of that! Already have a good start with the Dutch in pole, but very interesting to see all the favourites more or less in the right grid position. Race starts pretty soon, happy Sunday!

Tip for tomorrow, for anyone using Bitsler. Look for the cashback promo (up to $100). Worked a treat today. If your ML selection takes a 4-game lead at any stage but ends up losing, you get money back.

This is great but too bad though Im out of balance in bitsler, aye

Anyway Roobet is also offering up to $50 insurance if your player lose in 5 sets. Obviously taking Kyrgios to win in Roobet because of the insurance and I also have Djokovic to win on Sportsbet so yeah if nothing unusual happened tomorrow then either way, its going to be a decent amount of winning tomorrow. So glad that all these bookies throwing up promotions

Yeah, like Trofo said, good to share all the different promos, lets people also see for themselves which books suit them with sports type promos. Odds alone is usually what I look at but a cashback/insurance deal is very often well in +EV territory.

I've got Nick on the 4-game lead promo, Djoko I already have an outright, Nick handicap +2.5, so maybe another bet on the loser of first set would be my final outlay.

3973  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA World Cup 2022: Qualifying Games For Qatar on: July 10, 2022, 10:59:06 AM
~~~
My problem with that has been the quality -- and I risk sounding sexist but it's still to me in general not competitive enough. The gulf between the strong teams and the bad ones are just so big, both at club and international level. That is slowly getting fixed as more clubs focus on their development at academy level (have to say my own club has been behind in this respect).
That is understandable. The number of women players (i.e those who play regularly at club or university level) is much lower when compared to that of men. And the actual numbers may be less than 1/10th of that in the men's game. So the player pool is much smaller to start with. On top of that, despite all the talk about gender equality, most of the women regard football as a sport that is more suitable to men. Women (at least in my country) prefer sports such as badminton, tennis, field hockey and swimming, which are considered as "more suitable" for women.
Again, I'm sure we're underestimating just how many women are playing football now -- where there are developments in facilities and training and salaried positions, it's actually really higher than we're used to knowing.
Even in Malaysia where I used to play, in 2007 we'd see more than a third of teams/players signed up for tournaments were women. There was huge demand then, I think now 15 years later it's probably gotten bigger.
I think I know where your country is, but that's more cultural and peer pressure than what women really think themselves -- I think if they made more safer spaces like they did where I come from (as I said, facilities, training, salaried positions, like the men have instead of relying on goodwill and voluntary action), you might be surprised.
I mean if Afghanistan had droves of women footballers the moment facilities and staff cropped up...
Nice tip for Ebden/Purcell @Trofo! HAd to do it the hard way but seems they went all the way every step except QFs. Nice.
Kyrgios +2.5 Sets @ better than 1.5 w/ Price Boost is my only bet.
And of course; Djokovic to win out!
That'll be me tomorrow, just waiting for price boost to replenish Wink
I also don't think it requires consecutive weekly closes above the 200WMA either, just one would do for confidence to return to the market, but leaving oversold conditions with a close is a must imo. If price drops this weekend, and the RSI returns to oversold (which would be easily done) and closes there, it would confirm that bears are selling as soon as longer-term price strength is leaving oversold conditions. It could easily be a confirmation of a fake-out, so I'd consider it a warning. Though naturally unless disastrous and price break support, then bulls can give it another go next week for price to leave oversold conditions.
Can't help but feel all bets are off with the next macro event (Fed rate hike) in about 2 weeks though but if that situation does happen before then, should be firmer ground since it'd mean the buying is still able to nullify the bears pricing in for the rate hike. Either way, pleased to see determination from the bulls before Monday.
3976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA World Cup 2022: Qualifying Games For Qatar on: July 09, 2022, 05:52:02 PM
Anyone else notice women's football getting a lot of coverage lately? My go-to news sites almost completely filled with news items. Even clicked on a few to find out it was not men's football as they report without mentioning the distinction. All good for me, better for the sport.
Concacaf ongoing now and four tickets to the Women's WC in Aus/NZ next year.
Bet on them occassionally but just wondering if it is time to also start following. Odds are wild in some games!
Being a woman, for me it is great news that women's football is increasing in popularity. But at the same time, I don't think that it can be compared to the popularity and money power of the men's game. Viewership for the women's events may be 1/10th or lower when compared to the respective event for males. The biggest problem is that women themselves are not that interested in sports and games. At least in my country (India) that is the case, and I don't know about other countries (especially the developed nations).
That's where you're wrong and probably need to look into the game in Europe, not money power but popularity anyway! Barcelona has been setting new records match after match this year with women's football (same stadium, and yes some tickets were given away but most were paid for) and I believe Netherlands actually also has more turnout for their women's national team.
It's a cherry waiting to be picked by sponsors etc.
My problem with that has been the quality -- and I risk sounding sexist but it's still to me in general not competitive enough. The gulf between the strong teams and the bad ones are just so big, both at club and international level. That is slowly getting fixed as more clubs focus on their development at academy level (have to say my own club has been behind in this respect).
3977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 09, 2022, 04:27:30 PM
I couldn't understand how you related Formula 1 to the Premier League.  Tongue Your position in football pools is way ahead of mine however I believe in myself this season. IoI  The entry fee for next season is a good choice of prize. Deal!  Wink
Bastardness tends to transcend type of sport. But each season seems to bring new bastards, and I really enjoy how competitive it's become. We have a deal, do remind me if I forget when I win =D
Last season, Spurs, United, Chelsea were my bet destroyers. If I'd focused more on MLs I'd probably have done better but we all like an acca or two a day don't we? I'd really love to win a big one but don't recall ever coming close on anything approaching 1000/1.
I never do singles. So, when I'm close to winning its usually big. Of course, due to putting one massive accumulators I never win. So, when I do it's a pleasant surprise. The UFC win I had a week or two ago was massive for me. My first win of the year Cheesy.
I'm just that crazy bastard that puts on at least 4/5 fold accumulators, but most of the time up to 8 fold accumulators. I basically donate money Tongue.
I remember that one, perhaps you'd be celebrating more wins as a casher outer..! I certainly would have on my singles -- last one was Villa leading 2-0 at City on final day and when they were weathering the storm I should have taken 15/1.
5 is actually my limit (and only because of Sportsbet's acca insurance + boost), but they're generally 20-30/1. I do fantasise about those million-to-1 odds I only do with the 0.1mbtc freebets. One day...
I suppose a lot of people didn't see Ons losing, didn't do anything for Women's this one around cause wasn't happy to see odds, but this Rybakina, have to say never heard of her until this final. Don't shoot me if she's top or something, I didn't know about Ons until the last WTA! Yes, I'm terrible I know.
Morning tip for you guys, play something agains Pavic/Mektic today. Pavic has fell on his hand during last match and fractured something, he can barely use his right hand. He is left handed so they will play but he can't toss the ball properly or play his usual two handed backhand.
Can't belive odds on Ebden/Purcell are still over 3. Forfeit is legit concern so don't use free bets or insurances on this one.
Too late for me reading this, shame. Think a lot of money went on the line, though I still got 2.85 which will be decent, so thanks in advance!
