3981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best thermal paste on: August 09, 2021, 06:09:08 PM
that's a nice story, but not everything would be that smooth sailing. op, don't start to look for grease just because of it. imo try to change the cooler too if you have a spare. just how hot your gpu is btw? what model is it?
Brah it's not the freaking cooler it's the thermal paste, I've fixed it and it's working back again but not with those cheap nameless thermal paste this is why I open this topic, I'm going for thermal MX-4 cos I believe they will come in handle again
I also paid a lot of money for MX-4 thermal paste, and then they recommended GD900 for aliexpress.
The difference is minimal, it's a fact. And the price is completely different.
Change it once a year at the beginning of summer, if the video card is not guaranteed or there are no seals, but then it is better to do this after 2 years.
3982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Toasted GPU? on: August 08, 2021, 12:50:34 PM
TheMimic1 writes about ripple.
For old power supplies, the voltage is not stable, but instead of 12 volts, 8-13 volts are supplied and these values change. This puts additional stress on the capacitors that fail. And then other elements on the video card are damaged.
Such moments need to be controlled with a multimeter.
3983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3070ti vram temp issue on: August 08, 2021, 12:44:54 PM
Alright I finally went ahead and purchase my first RTX3070 Ti which of cos is a LHR card but I can see that this card is good for ravencoin and conflux with make me worry less unfortunately the problem is when mining ravencoin this GPU reach 90°C on vmem which is scaring the heck out of me, I've lost a GPU and I don't want to lose another
This is not a very high temperature for memory.
When the warranty ends, change the thermal pads.
If the temperature is more than 100 degrees, then it is worth installing additional cooling or replacing thermal pads.
Summer is already ending, then the temperature situation should be better.
3984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pool confusion on: August 07, 2021, 11:13:06 PM
Can someone please say something about this? Why is it that whenever I am mining and I decide to save energy but turning off my display monitor my hashrate reporting on pool will drop? Mind you I don't plug in display cable to any GPU but the mobo itself (igpu) so once I switch on the monitor the Hashrate report increase back to norm..
What hashrate are you writing about?
Current, Average, or Reported?
The current one is calculated depending on the shares caught and changes every hour. The average is also not an indicator, because it is a slower value for 4-6 hours.
Reported is already interesting. Connect remotely to your farm after turning off the monitor and see the hashrate of each video card. If there are no changes, there may be an error on the pool
3985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3070ti and 3080ti question on: August 07, 2021, 11:04:35 PM
Are there no LHR RTX3070Ti and RTX3080Ti ? The reason I asked is these cards aren't labeled LHR on every crypto calculators I know, only 3070,3080,3060 has LHR on them, is this true or not? The reason why I'm not buying this new Nvidia cards is because I don't want to end up with LHR cards
https://www.julianocaju.com.br/info/lhr.asp
-" all 3070Ti and 3080Ti are LHR"
I did not plan to buy these cards, but what I heard is that the hash rate on the Ethereum algorithm and Ergo (ERG) is decreasing on them.
Please see the reviews for the model you want to purchase before buying.
If you have one start mining conflux even on 3070ti it's stable and presently the most profitable as well, not all algorithms can be blocked for this graphics card, it's almost impossible, do your own research
I did not say that the hash rate is reduced on all algorithms on LHR video cards.
I don't see any reason now to buy those video cards that are constantly getting cheaper.
3986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Toasted GPU? on: August 07, 2021, 10:56:02 PM
If the power supply was bad then it sure has done some damage to any components by giving them the wrong voltage. It is great that you changed to a working one but if the artifact is still there it is not a good sign.I think you should use a benchmark program for the GPU-s which will tell you how your GPU-s are behaving and compare to how it is regarding what other people are saying, what should be the GPU optimal parameters. If those parameters are correct then you have nothing to fear for and keep on mining,if those parameters are well below the recommended value then your card is damaged.
You cant mine with artifacted gpu. even you start mining you get incorrect shares or rig will crash
I know cause whenever I tried to mine it will display 6MH on ETH and crash instantly, I believe something must have been damaged inside the GPU when they started to heat up, I'm glad it's only one down out of four though, I've learnt a lesson here, never buy cheap PSU for mining
I have 2 cheap psu they are working fine but i let work them with polaris and old gtx 1000 series cards. Many cheap psu has high pulsation i dont know how to explain that you can read about pulsation on internet. When load is high then cards feels more pulsation and it bring unstable rig even kill some gpus. So never forget do NOT load any psu to max. my cheap psu written 1600w but i cant load more than 900watts because it gets hot and i see too much ripple. Even you get good psu adjust your consumption and leave space min 80% whats written on psu.
Don't need to buy crappy power supplies. Better to buy proven server blocks or Corsairs with a 10 year warranty. Even if My corsair has a power of 1000 watts, then I will not load it more than 850 watts, although there will be no problems even for 1000 watts, but you need to take into account the efficiency and temperatures.

In your case, you need to do the diagnostics of the video card from a good master. This video card will be mined with errors.
3987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining profits... What am I missing? on: August 07, 2021, 10:48:56 PM
The Antminer E9 (3Gh) makes, at current rates, $205.6 a day. Electricity, for me, costs $0.12/kWh. At 2556W power consumption, that means I'd be spending $7.3/day. 205.64-7.3=$198.

That's $198 net profit per day. Even if the rates went down %75!, it's still $50 a day! By doing nothing!

What am I missing?
A very tempting offer, but you need to have 30,000 lollars and not buy from scammers.
If the equipment suddenly breaks down, then you will have huge losses.
I probably prefer to mine on video cards, because they can mine a lot of coins and will be relevant for a very long time.
3988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Adding an additional 1660 to my rig on: August 06, 2021, 11:25:10 PM
An adapter will be the best solution, but when it is not available in stores, you will lose your profit.
If your power supply is not under warranty, then you can buy any 8-pin adapter at your nearest store and then cut off your 6-pin connector on the power supply and solder the 8-pin connector.
The wires must be soldered and insulated with heat shrink
Chinese adapters are made of bamboo alloy and are very poorly soldered...
You need to check such points before buying. With a light load, nothing will happen, but while this adapter is working, you can order connectors, cable and tools in China, and make the adapter yourself.
I got a lot of these adapters from buying video cards. Previously, manufacturers put several pieces in a box with a video card and they are of very high quality.
Better to look for such adapters.
3989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eip1559 doesn't affect GPU demand on: August 06, 2021, 11:17:05 PM
There is demand because it is still very profitable. 30mhs=2$ it means really good compared 30mhs=0.5$ used to be. other hand price are better than last month. I think there will be good price when eth price goes to 1.5-1k.Untill then dont even bother look for gpus
Can 30mh /$0.5 become a reality again? It's pretty hard to believe because people are starting to understand how crypto market works on the long term, they know that crypto is seasonal base so the future bear market that I'm expecting won't be like of the past
In 2019, the profit was much less than your value. But if you look at the news about large companies, they buy equipment for their mining plants.
This one suggests that mining will be a new kind of business.
There are no new coins for mining yet, so I expect a big sale after the transition of Ethereum mining to the POS algorithm

There's good coin candidates after ETH PoS for GPU miners. I am thinking about Ergo, Ravencoin or EthereumClassic.

I think PoW is here to stay because no consensus mechanism is perfect, you got pros and cons. So investing in these coins mentioned above are simply investment vehicles and I don't see why they will disappear. Furthermore, Ergo has smart contracts like Ethereum so it has a real usage!

I was looking at the prices on Ebay for the RTX 3070 graphics card and surprisingly they all increase a little. I bought a RTX 3070 at 1,400 CAD a week ago now I cannot find that same RTX 3070 model under 1,600 CAD.
Did you buy the LHR version or not?
LHR versions have a lower hashrate on Ethereum and Ethereum classics.
Ergo, Ravencoin and EthereumClassic will not be able to accept such a huge number of graphics cards.
Perhaps the prices for video cards have grown due to the rise in the price of ethereum, but the profit in mining is falling.
3990  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum London Hard fork on: August 06, 2021, 11:02:46 PM
I worry more about the eip 3554 on december than this update today

If this EIP really happen on december the ETH mining will be over..

Ok, we have other alt coins to mining.. but.. all eth mining going to other much smaller market… will it work??

Dude EIP 3554 come today with the London Hardfork and it will delay the difficulty bomb to december, so this is quite good update. The name says diffi bomb delay

So, do u think ETH mining will not end on december???
The difficulty bomb does not start working immediately, and the time it takes to mine the block increases gradually.
Even if the developers do not have time to change the algorithm in December, then nothing serious will happen until January or February.
But many miners are confident that this will happen in the next 5-8 months.
3991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will you build with 10,000$ on: August 06, 2021, 10:58:09 PM
I would not invest all that money on mining rig most especially if im new to mining, there are still many things to learn to I suggest to start with two cards and keep adding bit by bit, also GPUs might get cheaper along the way because of better availability
It depends on the amount of money you have to invest. Better to build a mining farm for 5 video cards.
Now there are a lot of options, and I would not rush to buy new video cards.
I do not think that home mining will die, but changing the algorithm on Ethereum will deprive many miners of profit.
My profit fell by 14% when mining Ethereum, but this data is only for 1 day
3992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: OS that gives users access to others OC settings on: August 06, 2021, 10:50:14 PM
Are there any mining OS that allows you to add others OC settings to your own in the OS? I've tried hiveOS but not what I expected because only the clock and memory clock works, I'm talking about advance tweak and timing for cards like AMD Vega
I already gave these links
Vega 56 and Vega 64 guide
https://forum.hiveos.farm/t/vega-56-and-vega-64-guide/22368
Vega 64 - 54MH / s with less than 130w
https://forum.hiveos.farm/t/vega-64-54mh-s-with-less-than-130w/18128
You can set any settings in the miner that are written in its instructions.
3993  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will happen ASIC ETH miner in future? on: August 06, 2021, 10:40:55 PM
Hello guys,

I want to know about "Should i mining ETH with ASIC miner which has ethash algorithm? What will happen ASIC ETH miner in future?"
Pleas suggest me, guys.
There are very few profitable coins on this algorithm. Perhaps the manufacturers will update the software so that with the help of these ASICs it is possible to mine the Ethereum classics.
But I do not advise investing money in these ASICs if the payback is more than 5 months, because the Ethereum classic will not give so much profit

3995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3070ti and 3080ti question on: August 05, 2021, 10:14:27 PM
Do not buy those cards unless your seller can guarantee that they are non LHR, buy AMD instead or go for 3090 which has no LHR brands till date also we have rtx20** too, the only Nvidia GPUs I'm buying presently are the gtx variants (1660s and 1080ti ), there are few AMD GPUs that are as good as Nvidia when it comes to efficiency e.g 5500xt 5600Xt,6800xt
I would definitely not buy a 1080ti graphics card right now. They are hot and very difficult to find in good condition.
If the LHR versions are limited by the hash rate on only a few algorithms, then nothing bad will happen. Miners will buy them again. I think that the miners who mine on old video cards, on the contrary, are glad that the new Nvidia video cards are going to mine other coins and not Ethereum.

I bought a 1080ti and it's working perfectly with some Vega 56, actually the seller used the 1080ti for gaming only, yes its true that 1080ti consume much energy but they are good for many algorithms apart from ETH
Are you talking about one card?
If this is an isolated case, then you are in luck. But where can you find 10 graphics cards?
I see many such sellers, but I don't even try to ask them questions about mining, if I see that he sells several old video cards that are almost like new Smiley
At what price did you buy it?

3997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Linux GPU Rig Tutorial - Please Suggest on: August 05, 2021, 10:01:48 PM
Thanks for the reply.

I am not well versed with Linux.

I have 6 AMD RX 580 GPUs.

I do have them setup with windows 10 but the system does not seem to work all that
well and seems to be constantly doing a diagnostic because of all the gpu cards.

So I though I might give Linux a try.

However, if you know of a good, recent Windows tutorial, please suggest that as well.

https://hiveos.farm/install/
https://forum.hiveos.farm/
I don’t understand what’s going on with you? Does the system constantly reboot?
What is the hashrate of your video cards and what are the settings?
Perhaps you have set an increased overclocking, write your values.
Linux is more convenient, but this system will also not work stably in case of overclocking?

I haven’t noticed a drop in profit in the statistics either. Today there was a very high price for Gas, perhaps this influenced the profit, commissions in blocks reached 8 Ethereums.
I don't understand how to calculate what percentage of commissions are burned in each block.
But if the commissions decrease, then this will affect the profit.
4000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eip1559 doesn't affect GPU demand on: August 04, 2021, 10:18:18 PM
I'm concerned about eth2.0 mining reward after eip1559 update, what about you? I see that many aren't scared about this update since so many are still buying GPU while ETH is the most profitable coin to mine presently
I don't think anyone is afraid of this update.
More profit decreases from adding new miners to the network.
For preliminary statistics, you will need to wait a few days after the hard fork, and then talk about something.
Those who have experienced the times when a profit of 10-15 cents from one video card is already not afraid of anything%)
