oh mein gott!

Did Hearn at least say which "superior" altcoin he is switching to?

It's easy as shit to dispute his arguments. He's basically claiming that if the blocks ever fill up, then Bitcoin has failed. Since Bitcoin can't scale to world reserve currency without really fucking big blocks (133MB with lightning network and way higher without it), it's pretty much guaranteed to have full blocks and a fee market no matter what you do. While I do think Bitcoin needs at least 8MB blocks to remove most of the glass ceiling on price, his logic is not sound at all about it succeeding or failing based on blocks being full or not. That post might impress Bitcoin noobs into thinking there's some type of crisis, but blocks becoming full was always destined to happen from day 1. The real issue is that Lightning Network does not exist TODAY, and so blocks should be raised so that Bitcoin has more room to grow until that happens, assuming Lightning Network is even the solution to all our problems in the first place. The way I see it, a collateral bid, deterministic block production system with something like 1001 fixed block producers is the only low hanging fruit I see to solve decentralization and on-chain scaling at the moment: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1317450.0I am intersted in the bit where he talks about reversing payments. is what he seems to be saying actually true? if the seller of the goods waits for say 4 confirms does that not still protect him. if it is going to be common place for reversals (double spend) then people will always opt for credit cards and the protection they provide and not move to using bitcoin as much? RBF (Replace by Fee) only applies to 0 confirmation transactions... as far as I understand it as soon as the transaction is included into a block the transaction is not reversible except the block or the chain where the block is located in is not the main chain. after 6 blocks it seems be unusual the chain of blocks is not the the main chain except a block chain fork is in progress where two main chains exist side by side.

Aber bin echt gespannt was passiert....

7 years in production and no official specification. it's a shame!

this is not the right approach, gavin! http://gavinandresen.ninja/classic-unlimited-xt-corethe maturation of Bitcoin will be delayed for several years with this wrong approach of fighting each other! IMO it should be like this: - first specification
- second implementation united

ok, you are speaking about the technical aspect which is much important but it is not all.
![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) There is only a technical aspect about "blockchain consensus" (anything else would be basically nonsense as it wouldn't work). sounds like the (good) old times where a fork (2013) happened for a certain timeframe. but the community was united in these days. that's the difference.

Answered it above.
Not sure where this idea came from. Foundation doesn't owe anyone anything other than very minor ongoing expenses like web hosting in the $200 range which are all and have been up to date and paid.
So no debts? And the plus side of the ledger, assets? (in USD or BTC) Yes, no debts. This info has been released regularly ever since I volunteered so it shouldn't be news at all and should be clear. Current cash and Bitcoin assets are about $30k (I think about 50 of that is BTC) with another $10k pledged by Pierce. Foundation has recievables of $30k or so from Vessenses and others but has not been able to collect. In 2014 assets went from $4.5 million to $300k -- when I volunteered in April 2015 there was $70k left and several outstanding debts (I'm guessing $20k-30k) which needed to be paid. yes, TBF is done. your words above.

It has been discussed before - the issue is that as a protocol Bitcoin is far more problematic than something like say email where it doesn't really matter if some software works perfectly or not.
For blockchain consensus you need 100% precise behaviour and even languages like C++ are problematic when it comes to that (if Bitcoin were to be compiled with say VC++ you might find that it breaks).
So I very much doubt we are going to see an RFC that suddenly becomes the definition of Bitcoin's consensus (but the libconsensus stuff is a very good step in that sort of direction).
ok, you are speaking about the technical aspect which is much important but it is not all.

2016 will be the year where we can expect different Bitcoin implementations in the wild. Until now it was enough to have one Bitcoin reference implementation in form of code but what we need now is a specification of Bitcoin in form of Requests for Comments. The wild west time should end now. Boy's you've had your fun. We were impressed of your egos. Grow up or leave please. Now we need professionalism to continue the success story of Bitcoin! http://www.rfc-editor.orghttp://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2223.txtBitcoin related stuff should not be governed by the ietf but rather by a specific group for bitcoiners. Also, there already is an RFC like thing in bitcoin, BIPs. Bitcoin is specified by these BIPs and the bitcoin white paper with the reference implementation to provide exactly that. with all respect who is this "specific group for bitcoiners"? are this "specific group for bitcoiners" the mostly immature boy's with their big egos for fighting each other? IMO it's better to have something different. TBF is gone, it was an bunch of ppl which wasted the money of the members. ISOC is a non-profit organization founded in 1992 to provide leadership in Internet-related standards, education, and policy. It is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of people throughout the world. See: www.internetsociety.org

![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

Mining is an industry. Payment processors are an industry. Gambling is an industry. Even whoring is an industry. But not Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is not an industry. It's still A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System. No thanks, may I add, to douches like you.
Lots of people disagree & would call the miners, exchanges, wallets etc part of the same industry. But either way -- let's say you are right, there is no such thing as the Bitcoin industry -- you must have some term you use to describe industry conferences, events, meetings, this board etc. But even if not-- Fact is that there are now and will be groups in this ...space...whatever you want to call it. Those groups exist, they are here and they are not going anywhere. You can support CoinCenter or DCC or Bitcoin Foundation or Bitcoin Association or whatever -- or none. But they will be doing whatever activity they focus on: asking for more Bitcoin laws, fighting against more Bitcoin laws, holding events, speaking to the press etc. whether you participate or not. Seems sensible to align with a group whose mission you support. my impression is you have too much time to spend!
