that is old news. 9 months ago.

I am on the hook for a few bucks I used them as an alt coin to btc exchange for years.

nmc ,dvc , ioc ,ixv   etc

does not look promising as no one seems to have an answer as to what has happened,
39882  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 10, 2015, 05:22:12 AM
I agree with some work we may get close to 8%.

8% vs       14%

285usd vs 270usd

a decent shift back to profit.
39883  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is there anything worth buying? on: January 10, 2015, 04:24:57 AM
Buying mining hardware at this stage of the game is pretty much a suckers bet.

I would say if you are over 15 cents per kwatt and have no need for the heat they will give off you are correct.

2 sp20's or 2 s-5's can run on  1 evga 1300 g2 psu

So if you have the psu and need some spot heating for the next 3 months.

Those  2 miners may work out.

I have 8 sp20's and they lower my heating bill from 225 usd to 95 usd so that is a gain of 130 usd per month for Dec Jan Feb Mar

That means 1 of those 8 sp20's  is free due to the heat savings.

Try to check the connector if they connect properly. These thing easily loose on transport.

good point

wait I have a photo

the wide connectors going to the controller on top.  check them at the controller and at each of the two hashing boards

39885  Other / Meta / Re: philipma1957 and default trust on: January 10, 2015, 02:38:51 AM
Did I just witness someone being pressured by other forum members to delete half of his trust list? It's his trust and his responsibility.
"I don't think he should continue to be at depth 1 if he refuses to be more selective with his trust list" = you should kick some people from your trust or we'll have you kicked you from default.
Soon when someone gets added to default trust we'll have a crowd asking for the right to vote him out.

Yeah that annoyed me,it was also worded really too hard.

But It did bring my understanding to the level it should be at.  I will most likely do a few more changes in it.

39886  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 10, 2015, 02:30:54 AM
I actually think they did some mining .  That really was not the problem.  The problem was they changed rules over and over and over and over and over again.

Point in case I have 2 hashstakers each staked to 1 paycoin.  these are supposed to earn paycoins for no fees until the company ends.

Let me trace the history of them. From the beginning.

Say sept of 2014 maybe aug of 2014.  GAW gave free  fury miners to all of their customers.  Worth at time of gift was approx 50 usd.

Everyone that wanted to have it sent could get it sent. ---------They faced long delays getting it.

I kept it and was offered a conversion to a miner in the sky  so my miner had 1.3mh in the sky no fees. (1)

I was offered a chance to convert it to a prime in the sky 'no' fees forever I converted it again (2)

I was  offered a free upgrade to change it from 1.3 primes to 2.0 primes still no fees I upgraded it (3)

I was offered a chance to allow it to mine HP no more btc I did that still no fees                     (4)

I was offered to split the hashstakers into 2 1mh vs 1 2mh still no fees                                   (5)

I was asked to stake the stakers with coins my hps became 8 coins  I put 1 coin to each hashstaker and left the other six (6)

The coins went to trade on exchanges I sold the 6 at 6 bucks each = 36 bucks                                                (7)

I have the 2 hashstakers each with 1 coin earning a fraction a day.   That is far too much to track or pay attention to.

This constant change made them  too hard to follow.  I sold all my other stuff months ago.  They are pretty whack.

39887  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S5 work at 625 gh why?.. on: January 10, 2015, 02:06:37 AM
the row with all the zeros is a good row.

the row with the x's is bad row.

your freq at 325 is okay.  that should give you 2 full rows of 0's  and mine at about 1100gh

so try the reboot and see if it clears up.

what is your psu?

39888  Economy / Service Discussion / Is vircurex under a ddos attack? on: January 10, 2015, 01:51:29 AM
I use vircurex to convert my merged coins to btc.   I don't keep lots on the site maybe 0.08btc worth of alt coins. I convert them and pull out btc 1 or 2 times a week.

So when I go to the site  for the last 10 hours I get this:

39889  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: January 10, 2015, 12:25:35 AM
Like I said, it's ultimately a matter of how one justifies it.  We can debate to eternity and still would not be able to come up with a definitive conclusion that we could both agree on as there are a variety of factors that are difficult if not impossible to accurately and consistently quantify.  In other words, it is a very relative and subjective topic.  At least, I attempted to have some sort of controlled comparison by isolating complicating factors to the best of my ability/knowledge and providing numbers/computation.  That's all we can do in this matter.  If you're happy with the justification of your PSU choice and I'm happy with mine, that should be good enough.

Detailed PSU 80 Plus certification results here:

http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80PlusPowerSupplies.aspx#
I'm not at all disagreeing with your method, just that your numbers don't match with my experience in terms of the average price difference. It's not a matter of justifying my choices at all, I don't actually use ATX PSUs at all for mining, other than for some testing. I don't need the minor rails so I generally just buy server PSUs. It's hard to beat the value of a 2450W Platinum PSU for $50. Tongue

I wish the wife would let me run a 220 line for a pair of them. oh well
39890  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S5 work at 625 gh why?.. on: January 10, 2015, 12:15:40 AM
Hello
I have one s5 from bitmain
The menu
I see that all ASIC is available
But work ASIC chip only the half pair
What might be happen?Huh?

reboot it.

go to the GUI look for systems then look for reboot then reboot.

now if that does not work

1) what is your freq ? 350 is stock have you made freq higher then 350?

2) what is your psu ?  is it a decent psu ? can it provide 600-700 watts?

3) sometimes you need a lower freq clock say 325 for both rows to work.

I found in a cold room my s-5 went as high as freq 412 before your issue appeared. I also need a second fast loud fan to go at that freq of 412 to work.  with the stock fan my s-5 liked freq 375 as the max.
39891  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: January 09, 2015, 10:26:10 PM
I like the evga 1300 g2's for 10 year warranty.
They work well.

really like that they can run 2 s-5's or 2 sp20's if I down clock.

I like that they make less wires and space. then 2 or 3 smaller psu's

lastly they come with a trick switch for the psu to turn on.

My evga's have

1 run my s-1's
2 run my s-3's
3 now run my sp20's

Since I have 4 of them I have spare wires and such for them.

visdude has also offered a few ideas on the go cheap as you can route they can work for some and not for others

as my evga 1300 g2 pick can work for some not others.

32nd bronxnua ---------------------------------------- goes don't understand why he was on the list

Probably for the same reason all the others were. A better option would be to remove everyone and only add people who you definitively trust or trust the ratings of.

Well in reviewing the list I reduced it from more then 50 to about 23 names

Pretty sure most are good names to leave.  It will get more reviewing . As for suggestions as to the remaining names fell free to post them here and or pm me.

here is the shorter list.

CrazyGuy
Unacceptable
kano
Cablez
davecoin
iluvpcs
crashoveride54902
Stunna
lazlopanaflex
Swimmer63
buysolar
SilentSonicBoom

I may need to add :

CanaryInTheMine
mmpool
Spondoolies-Tech

My apologies for not quite understanding the difference between giving and getting trusts vs. putting someone on a trust list.

Lastly @ MR Teal thank you for fully explaining what was wrong with my use of the trust list.

The changes made moved me from:

 88: -0 /  +46(46) to

 59: -0 /  +31(31)

I am will to work with my list on this thread one by one.

@ Mr Teal

this is what I did not understand and it has now become an issue with the promotion to the default list.

Agreed. As people are talking about changes to the default trust list, for those on level one of default trust it might make sense to have two separate lists. You might still want to keep your list, as you said you've worked on it for years. That doesn't mean you would want everyone on it to be lvl2 trust. If you had a separate list that was just for promotion to level 2, you could keep your existing list for your own personal trust, and add users as you see fit to the list where you trust their judgement enough to allow them to give trusted feedback to others.

At Mr Teal you are correct:

A) I did business and it worked list
B)I would trust this person with my wallet list so to speak

Would be a better system.
For now I will be leaving all trusts.
I will be removing some from the trust list.

first name on the  trust list is dentldir  i did a deal  on 2013-11-16  I will remove him from list not that he is a bad person but the way trust system works as now explained to me.

The trust is okay the trust list is too good
39895  Other / Meta / Re: philipma1957 and default trust on: January 09, 2015, 06:13:15 PM
I am just trying to get along here and not be at odds with people.
I am certainly willing to work with members here and not fight with members.

I think people just want the trust system to work well given the recent noise around it. The OP might have been a little strongly worded, I'd agree that a message to you first would have been appropriate.

For those people you've left positive feedback for, have you also manually added them to your trust list?

over the last 2 years I added a lot of members.  I can see that this is an issue and since I was put on the default list I have had some pm's and questions asked.

I am going to do more review on the list  to try to get it to be more accurate.  here is the list as it is today.
39896  Other / Meta / Re: philipma1957 and default trust on: January 09, 2015, 06:09:09 PM
hey guys I am on the site constantly for more then two years.  How about a pm or two for a heads up. Rather then starting a thread that attacks me

Frankly I did not ask for the promotion to the default list.  And I don't want to defend myself here.

As for positive and amount risked.  If you send me 1 btc for a miner you may never get the miner so you risked 1 btc.

If I mail you a good miner and you say it is dead I am risking the same 1btc Since I always send a replacement .

I will look into the list as  it is long and covers many people I have removed a few names upon request and I am certainly willing to check it over more closely.

As to putting coins risked  if the deal worked both ways I am leaving the trust in since I fully back my gear up when I sell it .

As I am at risk to someone lying about the gear that I sold to them.

It appears that philipma1957 was recently added at default trust depth 1, resulting in users in his trust list being added to depth 2. The problem with this is that his trust list seems to be entirely composed of users who have left him positive feedback, resulting in 44 trusted positive feedback and only 5 untrusted feedback, a pretty abnormal ratio. In addition to the fact that this manipulates his trust rating to look higher than it should be, there is also the problem that many of these users have no business being at default trust depth 2, just for completing one transaction with philip. Here are a few of the best examples:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=331147
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=130725
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=155793
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=125012
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=364659

There are many more accounts like these in his trust list that I did not bother posting, if you don't believe me, go take a look at the rest of his trust list. I understand that he probably created his trust list before being added to default trust, so I held off on posting this for a few days in case he didn't know he was now at depth 1. I believe he has removed 2 users since then, which means he has noticed but decided not to prune the majority of the list. I don't think he should continue to be at depth 1 if he refuses to be more selective with his trust list, and I think others will agree with me on this.
I don't think this is so much an attack thread, but more of a concern about the intregitory of the trust system. I think what the OP's primary concern is that by adding anyone to your trust list that you have ever done business with, you are making your trust score higher then it really should be and are giving people the "power" of default trust that really do not deserve such power. I think it is fair to say that it is generally safe to do business with you so making your trust score as high as possible is not going to give you any real advantage.
Okay I see your logic so the question is how to  be fair . Remember I made the lists over the last 2.5 years and if someone did a good sale I trusted them and they trusted me.   In both directions sometimes I was the buyer and sometimes I was the seller.

so why is this wrong?  we made a deal he paid me took the gear and said it worked.  if he lied and said it was bad  I am out a miner and a psu.  he could have said I want to return the gear and swapped a bad miner and a bad psu.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=130725  why is this wrong I sold him a miner looks like  i did not give him a trust he gave me one.   I may have missed posting a trust back .  now you say I should not give a trust back I did not.

So in your first 2 examples I did  both sides of the fence 1 was a trust in 2 directions 1 was a trust in 1 direction.

Which one is correct?

So I'll have about $1K that I want to put towards bitcoin investment or generation of bitcoins somehow.  I've parted out my gpu rigs but am still interested in a mining aspect.  I've looked into cloud mining and some rigs that are coming out.

Mostly, the advice I've gotten is to just buy bitcoin.  But I want to do something that would be more enduring.

Is there any gear that would be just as enticing as buying bitcoin right now?

I need some info.

where do you live? not exactly but if in the usa name the state.  anywhere else name the country.  I am in USA New Jersey

what is your power price?   5 cents a kwatt  10 cents a kwatt 15 cents a kwatt 20 cents a kwatt.   Over 20 cents you are a certain loser

what is your noise tolerance?

do you have powers supplies on hand?

is it the winter where you are?

First off don't buy coins you are new not fun.

Second If you order today and get some sp20's from spondoolies  you get an added benefit of free heat if it is the winter. they are pretty much set it and forget it

they will most likely lose money, but not a lot.  I have 8 of them.

I downclock them to 1200gh I lower the fan on them to setting 20  and they help to heat my home while earning some money.

39900  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BTC +1000%] Try NiceHash.com pool, INSANE Bitcoin up to +1000% profits atm!!! on: January 09, 2015, 03:31:20 PM
I don't know... I am making around 0.02370 BTC daily with 2.1 TH but it's only been around 3 days.  I have nothing to compare it to since I am new to mining.

That's low.  2.1 TH/s should average out to about 0.027 BTC daily.

I suggest checking the main page of west hash and look at the percentage for BTC to see if it's worth mining there.  Right now it's at 0%, which I think means you'll do better at a conventional pool.  Also, you can configure your workers to only kick in when the payout makes it worth while.

M

this is correct.  I rent for nicehash and westhash  .  They are great when a lot of people are renting to mine a hot coin.  Give me a minute to show how to set your miner's pools up to allow for westhash or nicehash to mine only when the price is a bit better.
note westhash is for the western hemisphere
nicehash is for the rest of the world

my pools page on my sp20  I set my rental price at 0.0141  that is about  0.0023 over the normal price of 0.0118  per th

this overspread may allow for 10 to 30 hours a week  at the higher prices.

the pool it is mining at now is paying me about .0119 .

where my sp20 is mining right now it skipped over nicehash.  I set my rental price too high
