41  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Release the hounds : 45.8 BTC stolen - electrum-wallet.com CRIMINAL sticky pls on: August 14, 2017, 05:51:16 AM
^ Chances are if the ppl behind this are smart enough to create a wallet that can wipe out your machines wallets, they've thought well past domain/hosting/ID's/IP's/legal/whatifs/unforeseens/etc. Best case scenario namecheap and the host give up intel that's probably daisy chained to dead ends imo. I'm sure they won't be around long but all it takes is a new domain.whatever and another indi/loose/foreign hosting and they're up again.

** I hate scammers as much as anyone else, however, like anyone else, I'm fascinated by the schemes they execute and must admit this shit was clever, timed, and paid the fawk off for these guys. What a beautiful and cruel world.

As much as hate to admit it you have a point, i have seen cases where when this cases happen best you can get close is the ip address and the country the hack was done from, but in this case its was done from from a program the victim gave permission to, i am sure they would have tied up loose ends except it was a fluke and if it is then, it is worth a shot to report to the authorities

If you can, please make this a sticky , people NEED to be warned and i need to find someone to recover 150kusd and get 75kusd for it (Relative to current BTC + BCH prices )

I got robbed of 45.8 BTC (and BCH so total = 150000$) after installing the executable from electrum-wallet.com.

I was running multisig but both on the same PC. First i ran the portable electrum.exe from  electrum-wallet.com but when it did not load my wallets *NOTE : the ones that had BTC in them ,it loaded just fine any other wallet ) - I don't want to hear opinions on my stupidity

After it didn't work i downloaded last version of electrum from electrum.org

I'm wondering how the F is it possible that after 2 years of this thread no one has taken down and/or announced the US. authorities fbi etc about it.

I'm in Romania and have no wish to deal with this legally, which will probably get me nowhere.

I  am willing to split the rights on the BTC with whoever is capable of recovering them via detective+legal means.

This is the transaction : https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/78d44db46445d3097996fc644c1221eeead31added5c35cf1b7938737e3b49db

As i said , I don't want to hear opinions on my stupidity, this is mostly a warning and hopefully a way for someone to make a healthy 75000$.

thanks for the warning op. maybe ill be more carefull about what im downloading from now on.  and ihope more people being read this not to ignore to be help them as a warning.

Is OP alive?

42  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Release the hounds : 45.8 BTC stolen - electrum-wallet.com CRIMINAL sticky pls on: August 13, 2017, 11:11:34 PM
Wow, that is crazy to hear. The site is an absolute scam and everyone should report it.

45 BTC is quite alot. I think your best bet would be to email abuse@namecheap.com and ask for the owner of the registered domain electrum-wallet.com
Maybe put a small hint that you have been robbed off of 45 BTC equal to XXX amount of USD and that you are pressing legal charges and will inform your authorities of this, also whoever registered the domain is using Namecheaps service WhoisGuard for anonymity which you could question and threaten that you report this to ICANN for their view on this matter. According to ICANN, "The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) broadly requires the mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address of those owning or administrating a domain name to be made publicly available through the "WHOIS" directories."

Which means that anonymous domain registrations aren't allowed and that mailing adress, phone number and email to the person administrating the site should be public information.

It is a long shot, but my best bet would be to email the domain provider and explain the matter and question how they are currently supporting criminal activities and also witholding important information on the person who is scamming users.

Sorry for your loss man! but this is the way to go its a start, good luck
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason that keeps me from investing in bitcoin on: August 13, 2017, 10:48:19 PM
Hello everybody.

I would like to invest some money in bitcoin, I don't use that money and I don't need it for the next 2/3 years.
I thought I found in bitcoin the perfect way to invest. BUT when I see the fees applied I don't see how the bitcoin will become mainstream! The fees are around 1mBTC which is approximatively 3$. Therefore what is the point of bitcoin?

The only thing I see : big amount transaction

But bitcoin won't be the money you use to buy your sandwich with those fees!

I saw a post saying: yeah burger king is willing to accept bitcoin in russia. Hopefully mcdonald will follow ! But why would someone pay 3$ fee therefore a third of his burger king menu in fee?

Will segwit may lower the fees?

Thank you Smiley

That is a very important question for me, bitcoin is more valuable as a safe haven to store up value through time rather than for day to day grocery spending.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin buying by central banks on: August 13, 2017, 10:26:00 PM
Central banks philosophy and that of bitcoin are at cross function, when bitcoin does get fully mined what you have is a stiff supply to large demand which will drive price upward, the only value bitcoin would be a safe haven to store up value and a means of exchange to those who accept it. When bitcoin is fully accepted by the general public, it would be like gold the central banks of every nation if they decide will have to work out the legal framework and all hunt their share of the 21mln btc, the present holders would become billionaires and then the government would take over and control the price of bitcoin imho.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest Misconception About Cryptocurrency on: August 13, 2017, 09:42:21 PM
dunno about the hundreds of thousands per minute part.

what does worry me is that it'll become the victim of another dotcom bubble that'll destroy the faith people have in it. once the smoke has cleared then it'll really establish itself just like the companies came out after the dotcom bubble.

there's a good chance greed will overpower any real uses. that doesn't matter in the long run, it does to people holding cryptocurrencies now.

my greatest fear with the paradigm shift is the power of greed you just mentioned, we all can see what it is doing to the crypto ecosystem, forks after forks, its not as simple as just narrowing down to just greed though but greed is definitely a powerful force. One thing will last and that is the technology, a lot are still unaware of what the potential applications of the technology behind the Cryptocurrency industry but, yeah when the dust settles the big boys will dust it up and run it.
46  Other / Off-topic / Re: Job Vs Bitcoin on: August 13, 2017, 08:04:28 PM
If you get monthly and stable enough income for you from Bitcoin, and you feel you have to work full time online for BTC then you can quit your job. Otherwise I advice you to keep your job and don't take this big risk. Most Bitcoin users have their offline jobs, in my opinion.
Because there is no point on quitting your job just to go full time on Bitcoin. Bitcoin can be a good way to have a secondary income for any person, but you can never rely on Bitcoin earnings alone. One os Bitcoin's price is not stable, yes we are seeing Bitcoin in new highs but there is always a chance it can go back to a low price. Second is Bitcoin earnings are not definite whether you get it on trading or signature camapaigns there is no assurance on it because in trading your earnings depends on your skill while in sig campaigns not all of then are permanent.
Yes, Bitcoin is not stable, quit a job with a steady income to focus on an unstable job is a big risk and I think no one would dare to try it, this is like gambling, we are betting our future, if successful, our future will become rich but if we fail we will start again. Time will never come back but we also do not have many opportunities to become rich, so I think we should spend time on both, as long as we arrange reasonable time, everything is possible

its all been said, but for you to ask its either you are unsatisfied with you present job or the job is getting in the way of your full potential achievement in Bitcoin ventures other than than it is not advisable to drop a paying job for an alternate income means.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: i have 1.3 btc and i am confuse that invest in B8Ball ico or hold more . on: August 13, 2017, 07:08:52 PM
I'd you have 1.3btc then you know how difficult collecting it can be. Don't ask in a thread this way who can help you, you just going to have your inbox filled with spam from scammers. Rather do your own research and read up on the difference currencies. Look what others are buying and try to find out why. Study the movement of these coins and make an educated and informed decision.

It also sounds like you planning to put alll your eggs in one basket. Don't do that. Spread them.

Listen to this guy, its the best advice you would get!

I do agree with Core's PR, rather than having a disruptive split, a smooth transition is a much better option. Interoperable nodes right before the split and then suddenly two chains and then the minority chain having a tough time finding peers. Waste of resources.

An option well preferred, i just can't comprehend why all the stakeholders have all just gone bizarre all hold their positions, i fear for the value of bitcoin when you have more than one variant of same coin Cry

Could Bitcoin ever replace conventional money?

I don't think so, it will be an alternative value storage but not replace convectional money imo
51  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it too late to buy bitcoin? on: August 12, 2017, 02:11:26 PM
Even the blind can see that crypto Currency is making people millionaires all  over the world

no it is not.
how many people do you think held their coins when price was dropping from $220 to $180 and how many do you think bought that day, and how many of those do you think dumped when price was $450 and it dropped hard. or all the other panic FUD daram that led to panic sells.
how many do you think will dump in the coming month of August, and how many do you think will hold and buy more.

it doesn't matter that you heard a coupld of stories about someone getting rich. there is always only a handful of people who don't listen to anything and keep holding for the real long term profit.

and this is just the start. we have started the mainstream mass adoption for less than 6 months and price rise is just getting warmed up. Wink

Yeah as much I would love to wait for a dip to the 1900 level I know that is long gone only a long wait await me to get a good chuck on btc, there will always be an entry point usually a catastrophic news could send any assets price plunging so you have to keep watch. Holding BTC is a good idea now because the world finally work up to realize it ain't going nowhere
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Future of BTC on: August 12, 2017, 01:51:28 PM
Hello!

I'm not new to Bitcoin I've been using it since 2015 as a wallet since it has no limitations.
After the new record of BTC price I'm really confused, It increased about $1k in less than 1 month which seems suspicious.
I'm thinking of investing some money on BTC and hold them for at least 3 years or more.
But is it a good idea? have any of you made good profit with holding BTC?
Like tell me what do you think of the future of BTC rates, how high could it reach?

with my best regards..

I am shocked to be reading this in this day and time, well it is possible a lot people are still in the dark, I am guessing you have been a passive participants. Presently BTC is at 3500$ back then in 2015 it should be around 400$, so do the math, BTC is targeting 5000$ that is the Fomo on now
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will banks start a war against bitcoin on: August 12, 2017, 01:15:36 PM
I know we are still at a start of cryptocurrencies, but bitcoin is growing with lightning speed right now and some banks already see it as a potential threat.
There has been a lot of accusations form banks, that bitcoin is perfect for money laundering and is used for supporting crime.
I think they can do a lot of harm to bitcoin market and they will eventually start with harsh campaign against it.
Do you think it will happen and when?

Just bumped on this post now. Just like many have highlighted, BTC provides an unregulated alternative risk takers cannot resist, the bulk of bank holdings and investment capital comes from this folks, so yeah first reaction is to resist, it just that the BTC revolution is coming vat a time folk are tired of the current financial system screwing them over so the banks can't have it as business as usual, the reason the cryptocurrency blow out we now experience. The beauty of the BTC blockchain revolution is that it is an improvement on the present system hence, the present financial system will eventually have to get on board, right now they will just be playing for time for them to get an handle on the technology, then the control drive will begin. I think the best chance the cryptocurrency ecosystem has to reinforce their position and be ready to harmonize the old to the new in a symbiotic relationship.

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 11, 2017, 09:46:35 AM
good to know that bitcoin linked address no longer get that much of gbyte in the 9th fullmoon lol

Reducing the distribution % from 20% to 10% will not stop the dumping after distribution imo , what byteball ball needs is more applications of the byteball infrastructure to make it mainstream, then the dumper would wish they didn't

dumping will reduce drastically with the new rules

1. the major dump comes from btc holders and not from byteball holders. this is because it doesnt make any sens for byteball holders to dump the price more than the 20% coins they got. their overall portfolio is then at a loss

2. btc holders airdrop has been reduced to 10% of what that used to be.

3. expect the next dump to be around 4-5% max

4. i would expect a considerable pump in a few days (maybe close to next airdrop) when btc holders start to collect byteballs to get some meaningful amount of coins.

Yes btc holders and portfolio managers may dump gbyte according to their investment plan and as well pick it up same way. the big money trade prospect per time, they dump to pick more up at the dip thereby increasing control on price, the airdrop somewhat mitigates that by incentivizing general public to consider byteball prospects and distribute price control.

Is the blackbytes distribution still going on or is it already over? I'm asking since I didn't get GBBs yet even though my address is properly linked. In the past airdrops it was taking less time..
Tonych will announce when it's completed.
FYI: I have received 0.0003 GBB in one of my test-wallets, the wallet that should get 0.0002 GBB didn't receive it yet. Blackbytes are distributed from big to small amounts.

Just received mine also
