Anyone getting a error like this on Windows 10:

Seems I'm stuck on that miner does not make it past this error.

Can someone share a working 470 configuration?  It would be much appreciated.
43  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: optiona is allways good. 16nm ASIC, 100w/THS 0.1J/GH on wall. on: October 26, 2016, 03:56:11 PM
Don't get too carried away guys.... "the price is BTC0.42/THS, fob china"

0.42BTC per THS considering it's 10THS, that makes it around 4.2BTC

That's definetely some old numbers. This miner should be competetive to S9, so the price should be about 2.5-2.8BTC. The lower the better. )

Others have tried to be competitive with Bitmain before and it just is hard to do.   SP did that with SP20 and they claimed to be losing money on them, and we all know they now are out of the game.   I will be really suprised if they can price on same level of Bitmain, but would love to be wrong and surprised on it.
44  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 Batch 8 - ACCESS ROOT PROBLEM - IP ACCESS PROBLEM - ALL LIGHTS OFF on: October 26, 2016, 12:26:05 AM
Hi everyone!

I have a Antminer S7 Batch 8 with a problem access the root,
...
  • 4th. I decide to update the firmware
  • 5th. I reboot the system, but this time doesn´t sound as usual when the miner is conecting (fan coolers do not change speed from minimum)
...

You might go into more details on this part.  A bad flash can mean issues such as not mining or being able to access miner.   I believe on firmware update they reboot on their own.  Did you let it update and reboot on it's own?   You mention you rebooted it I'm hoping you did not try this or other thing's during firmware update.

A good rule on firmware for most part if it's working leave it alone.  Did you ever have miner working? If so what was last change before it quit?
45  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Single EVGA 1000GQ PSU (1000 GQ) for use on a 15A/120V Bitmain S9? on: October 26, 2016, 12:21:18 AM
You can't choose a PSU that is able to provide less wattage than it is needed to run Antminer S9.
For example the S9 12.93Th/s version takes 1275W (12 VDC).

Choose for example 1500W EVGA or Bitmain APW5.

And even though OP said he did not want something pricey on PSU's.  They tend to hold value decent if a good quality.  So you can use for multiple generations of miner's or sell them off eventually.   It is nice to have some good quality PSU's that have already ROI'ed even though upfront cost is higher.

I have had some PSU's that have been with me for year's.  They are something I never recommend to go cheap on.  Also on Asic gear server PSU's have kinda taken over.     My ATX's have went into ETH gear at this point.
46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Vertically mounting S7 and S9's on: October 26, 2016, 12:16:53 AM
Does anyone have any reference or experience doing this? I have a bunch and want to munt the upwards into a room with no ceiling right out into a warehouse. I the shelving they rest/sit on would be open do air could go through. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Use Search here. Been covered many times before or better yet, Google it.

For a start, wire racks with a couple inches using spacers between them and the miner fans or noise will get worse. Better yet, use 80/20 as a frame to support the miners with unrestricted airflow in/out.

Also he might want to define " a bunch".  As there will be a huge difference if you consider say 5 a bunch or if were talking 50, 100, etc.   Just so broad leaves a lot open and guess work.

Also if you look at picture thread I know there are some pictures in there of vertical setup. Although not as much as just sitting on a shelf.
47  Economy / Reputation / Ebay User: litkore on: October 25, 2016, 07:42:17 PM
Not sure if anyone know's who this is, or has dealt with them.  But a ebay user has stolen my S5+ picture on red for his auction.  User is litkore: http://www.ebay.com/usr/litkore?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

If you are this user please ask before using pictures.  Guessing member is on forum's but slim chance he actually see's it.   But if this is you please do not steal pictures.
48  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Minera Antminer u3 zombie on: October 25, 2016, 05:20:30 PM
Seems I put this in wrong part of the site

ok so I know there multiple known problems but I was wondering if there are any fixes is there a setting I can change on Minera just to reset them after it zombies, I heard some thing about using shorter usb cables or even clipping one of the wires inside the usb cabels

Best thing I have ever seen was R1's using crazy guy's custom firmware.  With them it had a auto restart if it zombied out which was amazing as depending on how many U3's your running it can be a pain and make mining not a whole lot of fun.  I would get his firmware and find a R1 is my advice.
49  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free electricity == big advantage? on: October 25, 2016, 05:18:28 PM
I talked my university out of giving me free electricity, basically supporting us with free server farms which include electricity. I am in Malaysia and wants to starts mining and possibly creating a farm, a buddy of mine in China who is familiar with the mining ecosystem there says that even with cheap electricity in china (There are threads saying China's electricity's so cheap) the Roi is diminishing greatly there.

So if I can get free electricity is it still worth starting from scratch, I mean making this a full time job, and start mining?

Note: considering to give up my not-too-bad job for this

I think it might be hard to get university to support you mining to a extent you quit "my not-too-bad job for this".   Also keep in mind of space, coolling, etc.   I just can't imagine a university setting you up to run a sizable farm without it being linked to teaching, or a project for something.   And highly doubt they run it forever.. so again quitting that job I think is overkill.

And also China depends where but some are super cheap electricity.  Just make sure on quality and uptime depending on where it is.  But this is whole different topic of looking for cheap electricity vs a university paying for it.

This should give you a better idea of what you need for one rig of say 4 to 6 cards Smiley".

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/wK2TWX

That's with out the cards add in another 1194 $ at the least for 6 RX 470 or nvidia cards they cost more you need at least a 960 or 990 model with those to do any good, I THINK, I'm not a big nvidia fan, that's without shipping and taxes . O yea riser cards you may need 6 kits if you go with 6 .

I"m looking for a ASRock H61 Pro BTC ATX LGA1155 Motherboard because I can't see me wasting another 30 bucks on top of 70 for the MB sense i all ready have a Intel 1155 cpu im not using that costs me 250 a while back i burnt up the MB i had over clocking . the watts it does it about what the 1150 does .

http://pcpartpicker.com  I've been using for some time just to get a General idea of what i might need i can get some stuff even cheaper .

Nice job on a list it does add up on other part's besides GPU's.   The nice thing is chances are you can use them over multiple generations of GPU's.  I know I sold all my GPU's long long ago, and bought back in for ETH.   I had a lot of good part's but at this point I need to buy most of parts for each additional machine, I really like going with 6 and maxing it out at this point.

One part they really have made so much better is riser's.  The old riser's were not horrible but man do I have to admit how much I like the USB ones today.
51  Other / Meta / Re: Forum database compromised? on: October 22, 2016, 03:49:16 PM
Nah, I run my own email servers - definitely not found by guessing - I'd see the other attempts.
However, it is the same email I've had here for 5 years, but the first time I've had spam sent to it.
If you have had the email on your bitcointalk profile (even hidden counts), than it was probably in the forum data breach from 2015. I don't think it was very easily obtainable/required a payment to get it until recently, since I've noticed that sites like leakedsource have added the database. I suggest searching your email up in https://www.leakedsource.com/ and see if it is from that leak.

I think this is likely the source if he had it so long.  As I don't know if we really know what they did with the DB at this point.  I remember them logging into inactive accounts like Mt. Gox and such trolling.

At the time I was curious how much info they got and mentioned something about them being a scypt kiddie or something in META and asked to impress me and give my IP.  They were able to do it at the time....  So I don't know what all data got out but know my IP at the time was part of it.  I hope no new hacks like that one have happened.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BEST GPU HARDWARE FOR BTC MINING ? on: October 22, 2016, 11:04:21 AM
... above

You can boot off of a live Linux USB if needed, and RAM is cheap if you buy it used if you want to skimp on your rig and get a cheaper build. PSU and Mobo is what you'll be looking for. CPU doesn't really matter that much for the most part; a 3$ C2D will work most of the time.

True but assuming you are getting a nice PSU to power up say 6 470's, if you go with nice ones such as EVGA 1300's or other close to it that add's up and will take a bite out of budget.   Then a motherboard that does 5 or 6 GPU's again add's up.   The cpu/ram might be able to get cheap but those and riser's still can add up on a build.

So I agree some part's are cheap compared to say an asic cost.  But overall they do add up and cost money which add more money you need to ROI.  My main point was GPU's are not only cost.
53  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Need help with Future Bitcoin Farm on: October 21, 2016, 05:26:18 PM
This looks like a real opportunity for some scam artist to earn serious consulting fees.

..... (rest above)

I would suggest he gets someone who can help before investing as the question's were all over the board.  I would advise him to start out small and also start with his own money.  It scares me he already has a "potential investor friend" with these questions above.  If you go into this wrong it's going to strain that friendship.

So much is related to electricity price anymore you would really have to start there.   But I don't think the container solutions out there are going to be something for serious investment.  Most of them have just been so pricey it makes more sense to do a data center.  But again at this point were talking about huge investment something you really need to do a lot more research before asking friend to finance.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BEST GPU HARDWARE FOR BTC MINING ? on: October 21, 2016, 05:16:18 PM
i m mining  BTC with GPU's
i already bought 12 RX 470 8GB
but i have some info's that i can find cheaper and better Gpu's with much MHS/s

now i want to spend 10K on gpu's
and if any one can give me a good tip what kind of GPU's should i bye it will b great.

""LONG LIFE BTCBTC""

You would be mining a altcoin with GPU's.   Keep in mind if budget is 10k you can't spend all on cards assuming you buying all gear, and no gear sitting around.  Good PSU's, motherboard, CPU, Memory, HD, etc are going to take some of that budget.   But you really need to check out altcoin forum, and also if you are going to flash card's etc.

And don't forget about heat and electricity needed. Do you have electrical set-up?  As if not setup with electrical, cooling, shelves, etc can add up on startup.
55  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Small scale mining with free electricity on: October 17, 2016, 04:26:51 AM
In order to maximize hashrates we would need to know how much free power you have? You say limited, how limited would determine what miners you could run. How many amps available? 120v or 240v?

Also sound/area/cooling also matters aswell.  A lot of these "free electricity" places are apartment's (not all but a lot) and there is limited space so you need to keep in mind mining makes heat and some miners/psu's are loud.  So there is a lot to factor in besides just electricity.

I would advise starting with 1 miner see how it goes and then moving up.   Some jump in with to many nothing stinks more then dealing with cooling problems, or not having enough electricity.
56  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best Way to Mine Bitcoins? on: October 17, 2016, 04:23:21 AM
With ASIC hardware; with modern computers, even the best RX 480s won't compare to even just a tiny Block Erupter USB that came out in 2013. The best miner i'd recommend is the antimer S9, and even that will take you around a year and 3 months to ROI; that isn't even counting cooling costs and electrical costs. If your electrical costs are below 0.1$/kwh, you can at least start to look for mining hardware.

Software mining is occasionally profitable, but that's only if you mine altcoins like ethereum. I won't elaborate, since this is the bitcoin forum, but with a decent set of GPUs you can make a bit of money without having the electrical requirements like BTC.

ASIC hardware anymore is pretty much set and forget.  All the hardwork has been done as far as hardware and you install and just input settings.  With altcoins I will say it takes more to build a good system, and functional system.  I have built a good amount in my day's it just takes more time.

But there is really only 1 way to mine bitcoin's.  The "best" way is going the be the lowest electricity rate you can get.  You will find doing some calculators electricity makes or breaks BTC issues.  Altcoins you can have a tad bit higher electricity and still profit and in part to GPU keeping value as they can be used by gamers.  But "software" mining of BTC on standard equipment is over now all asic controlled.
57  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What happens if bitcoin mining becomes subsidized with taxpayer money? on: October 17, 2016, 04:18:09 AM
I’m living in Norway..
The Norwegian government are subsidizing agricultural industry with taxpayer money..

That gets me wondering what would happen if any government suddenly decides to subsidize bitcoin mining?

To me, this seems very problematic if the blocks are not full..

Today the blocks are mostly full and the miners are prioritizing transactions with higher fees.

But let’s say we increase the blocksize limit so that the blocks are no longer full...

In this scenario the miners must decide what the price of blockspace should be, and the miners will compete on offering the best price.

But what happens when one miner gets an unfair advantage like a subsidy from the government?

That miner is no longer dependent on transaction fees and can offer blockspace for free,
which again will drive down the price offered by other miners…

How will the free market deal with this situation if the blocks are not full?

I don't see this happening farming can be very expensive in some places, and cost more then you bring in.  But in a lot of these cases the area needs the food/crop they are planting so the goverment pay's the farmer these subsidies.    Heck I know some land that is paid to not do anything to give wild animals area, as the animals need land and farmers would be farming it.

Chances of government paying for someone to mine bitcoin... very very small. I don't see it happening personally but it's a much different thing then farming.
58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Local Electricty company shut me down for mining. on: October 17, 2016, 04:11:56 AM
If you don't mind me asking what do you pay for electricity?   Just making sure not a locked in rate (flat rate) very rare but some apartment's and such do have them.

I can say personally I live on a farm (like field type).  And have not had a issue as they chalk it up to farming most likely in my case.  Only thing I have noticed is when I got my mining are wired and went up to 12k-15k watt's in mining during points they sent someone out to check meter just to check it was working properly.  They were happy to charge me though after checking it worked fine and not error.

Only thing I ever got was a survey for high usage user's.  Asked to fill out for like 5 dollars off next bill I did not anwser it and there was no bad effect it was optional.  Only problem I ever had was a electrician when I wanted my mining area.  As soon as he saw my miner's the estimate went up about 1k over what I expected... so turned him down.
59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it easy to get an alternate power supply for Bitmain Antminer S3? on: October 01, 2016, 01:42:00 AM
I'm not sure if the Bitmain Antminer S3+ is that different than the B3.  Does one have to buy the power supplies, which seem to be about twice as much as the going rate for the actual machine, or can one find a similar type used for other devices?

Do you mean S3 on highlighted?  Are you just trying to compare PSU needed for S3 vs S3+?   If I am understand right you will see suggested is very close:

S3: https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140630025130637RV8OhOwt06BC - 340 at wall
S3+: https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020140813125800214NBU85kWt0672 355 at wall

So if I understand correct and those are two being compared most PSU's would work for either.  At the time then most still ran on ATX psu's but anymore server psu's have kinda taken over.
60  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Fastest, least efficient, USB miners on the market? on: October 01, 2016, 01:37:24 AM
How about miners that have wifi built in?  I don't need to install this thing at my desk necessarily...

Also - I'm not planning on stealing electricity.  Our Company gets a fairly significant discount on kW.

Your post above makes it sound different.  If it is your company it would not really matter if noticed.... as you would have proper premission and no reason to hide

I want to run some USB miners at my work.
Big miners will draw attention.  Baby ones, not so much.
...

And it could be just wrong words you used but it sounds like trying to hide, which for a owner does not make sense.  This could be a moot point as at this time you can use USB stick miners for fun, but you are not going to get a profit.  They are fun to play with but it is the bigger miner's that stand a chance at ROI, all depends on electricity.

So full size unit is what I would go for assuming you have proper permission.  Some are quieter then others we really need to know electricity price to know what is viable option for you.
