41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about Bitcoin and consumer protection? on: April 25, 2018, 01:30:02 AM
how can i be sure that my money would be protected from scammers or how can i know the stability of bitcoin?

There is no central authority to take care of your funds and even if you are keeping your funds on any exchange, there is no guarantee that you will get your funds back in case of any hacking attempt. However, Bitcoin as a technology is very strong and no one can steal your funds if you are taking enough security precautions.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy a book about bitcoins on: April 24, 2018, 10:55:32 PM
I want to buy a book about bitcoins ,I know here is allot information on this forum and also on social  media but I want  to buy one on the Internet please any suggestions.
I do keep reading all the information and news about bitcoins online but books can be a good company during travel and places where there is bad internet connection. There is a different type of feeling associated with reading from text books and I really miss that very much. I will go through the reviews of the books you listed here ad may be buy some to read in free time.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Ethereum on: April 24, 2018, 09:15:23 AM
If you compare the two main cryptocurrency, namely Bitcoin and Ethereum, which one has the most promising future?
In terms of evolution, Bitcoin reached a maximum of roughly 4800$, whereas Ethereum reached roughly 394$: in other words, it is a potential increase of 33 % for Ethereum, but only 24% for Bitcoin.
The creator of Etherum Vitalik Buterins is a usual face on the mass media, he is totally not so mysterious like Satoshi Nakomoto. I think the next year Etherum will rich 1000$ point and that is mostly cause of the interest to crypto-currencies is growing and Etherum seems must better investment than Bitcoin, it's much cheaper.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Buying and Holding the only way? on: April 24, 2018, 06:10:42 AM
i tried to calculate how much would i make from bitcoin mining using an antminer s9, and i don't think it's worth it for me as the cost of electricity is high where i live, which is in the UK (it's 20 cents approx), i make like $300 profit a year. and obviously i can't use faucets as that will take years to get one bitcoin. so is the only way to even get any value from bitcoin is to buy it and hold it on for another few years? but it is a risky investment due to the price. or should i invest in new currencies that are cheap right now and have potential to grow to $4k a coin?  Huh
There are other ways other than buying and holding. If you are interested in trading it's by far the fastest way to earn but is also risky. There are also opportunity in ICOs investment as long as you know which one to support but that's the tricky part you know, finding the right one. Everything is a risk here and the question is how much of a risk taker are you. Remember that no one succeeds who doesn't take risks
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a better payment system? on: April 24, 2018, 12:18:59 AM
The answer is that it often is not, at least for most people, most of the time. Eventually it will be the best payment system, but it needs to develop further, gain more adoption, and get over the scaling obstacles. Even so, Bitcoin is already the best payment system for certain use-cases, such as sending money across borders, or receiving money from someone you don't trust (which helps further in cross-border transactions).
if I gotta stay a little longer to receive and send the payment. Which is even not much longer these days and just gets confirmed with ~10-30 min window and that is all right if bitcoin has got to offer so much valuable price tag for us. I mean we also earn at alarming rate from it and there is no worrying thing if we have to wait while we are transacting it.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can you verify if a bitcoin is real? on: April 23, 2018, 09:44:31 AM
Hi All,

First post so please be gentle!. I'm trying to get familiar with crypto currency and understand 'how it works'. I've reached a block and I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a particular point.

I understand the process of using public and private keys, back from the time when Phil Zimmermann created PGP. PGP allowed a user to encrypt a file, eg: an email/file (technically, just a bunch of ones and zeros) so that when the other user decrypted the file, they would see the words/file again. Or, to phrase it another way, the encryption was just a 'wrapper' for the content - ie, the words in my email or the file I sent.

Now, if someone sent me a bitcoin, how would I know what I was looking at? With an encrypted email, once decrypted I would be able to see something (text/file) and realise that I had actually received something. But, if someone sent me a bitcoin, what would I be looking at when I decrypted with my private key? A file filled with ones and zeros? Or maybe a simple text file with words inside saying, "Hey, this is 1 bitcoin!"

Can someone shed some light on what it I actually receive when I purchase a bitcoin and how I can verify that what I have 'in my hands', is actually a bitcoin and not just a bunch of ones and zeros? I understand that the blockchain is supposed to verify what is what but, what if I wanted to pass my bitcoin directly to you without the blockchain. Again, how would I know, what I received - was a bitcoin?

Thank you for your time and patience with my lack of understanding!

Regards,

Staffs Lebowski..

network will definitely reject it, and you can't create new Bitcoin without having 51% of Bitcoin mining hashing power. So if you receive Bitcoins in your Bitcoin wallet it is surely an authentic one, or if you are still not satisfied, you can copy the transaction ID of your transaction and paste it on block explorer, if you can see that your Bitcoin is recorded there or the transaction status is confirmed then it is real.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Asia on: April 23, 2018, 08:31:54 AM
How common is Bitcoin in Asia? Just want to know Huh
what I know is that the news and updates about cryptocurrencies in these countries Russia, China, Japan , Indonesia, and Philippines that is using cryptocurrencies are quite high and there are some whales here that can affect the prices of cryptocurrencies, not mentioning that the Russian government is open in regulating cryptocurrencies and Japan too.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Prediction bitcoin in the future on: April 23, 2018, 05:53:29 AM
How Is Bitcoin In The Future?
The number of altcoin that popping up sometimes for me to think how  bitcoin 10 years from now Huh Is it still exist or has been replaced with a new type of better currency ? Many altcoins can now be traded with local currency and other altcoins and are not fixated on bitcoins.
Question:
1. What is your Prediction ?
2. And what the reason ?

Maybe that's what I want to ask , hopefully the answer can answer the question in my brain. thanks  Smiley
bitcoin after 10 years would go as high as $300K to $400K USD by the time comes and this will be the most valuable currency in the world. The mind blogging supply and demand imbalance is what it makes to the increase in the bitcoin market price value.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is owning bitcoin a crime? on: April 22, 2018, 12:04:02 PM
Possesses bitcoin as well as holding a gun  Huh Smiley Huh
http://bitcoinnews.com/cryptocurrencies-gun-crime-canada/
That's where the problem is. Even we can't deny the fact that crypto currency is an ideal medium of payment for such illegal trades. That's where the gap exists. Neither the Canadian government nor this article mentioned that owning crypto currency is illegal in Canada. It's the usage of crypto currency to facilitate such illegal trades through dark web
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a True Believer? on: April 18, 2018, 01:16:21 PM
I see alot of people are holding Bitcoins and are convinced that their coins would multiply in value. The same people preach the Bitcoin ideology that its P2P,  decentralised, low to nil send or receive etc.

However, only a small group of people today are using Bitcoins as they were intended. And the fees are not exactly cheap to buy Bitcoins, not to mention those exchange places are basically like banks.

So my question is, are you a True believer of Bitcoins and other Cryptocurrencies that it will one day replace paper money, decentralised and all. Or are you only a believer that the price will continue to climb and you'll one day be a millionaire?

I simply find it fascinating that its apparent, people are preaching the benefits of Bitcoins but they are not using them. Preaching to newbies and drive up the demand and prices of the coins.
Rather, I would love to see people who really believe in Bitcoins, actually going out there and using the coins to purchase products, send/receive coins and let the coins circulate around. I would love to see that day. When the prices are not so volatile, and the coins are being used as they were intended. However, not being volatile also means the prices would rise sharply like it has been this year, which also means you wont be a millionaire holding onto them coins.

So are you a True Believer?

bitcoin is like Internet back in our old school days, that times the people only see internet as a joke, just a technological advancement and hard to understand, some people, not all didn't saw whats happening now in our millennial and advancement technological generation, all the young people embrace this advancement like using the Internet, the same as Bitcoin, to your question my answer is I am truly a believer
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Samsung is going to support bitcoin on: April 18, 2018, 12:30:48 PM
Today I heard that Samsung is going to make bitcoin mining hardware especially Antminer S9 which I heard that they will name it as 'Samsung S9', with this act by Samsung everyone can understand that Samsung is in the favor of bitcoin and they will strongly support bitcoin. Almost all of the Samsung users will then know about this device and so more and more people will then know about bitcoin and the demand and the users of bitcoin will be increased too much.
the support made by the giant samsung company could help the miners to save on electricity usage. a few days ago I also read news about samsung S5 mobile phone which made for mining. and the results are positive, functioning.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is bitcoin over? on: April 18, 2018, 12:02:47 PM
Bitcoin price is getting down just like ski slop!
Is bitcoin over? do you think bitcoin will recover their price?
I'm afraid, I lost my everything almost 2million....
Not it is just under $7000 still much higher than $3500. People don't read and freak out. India was not going to ban bitcoin or crypto just illegal use of it and that goes with most things but people freak out. Then the thing with the finance minister and Korea and China always causing a stir.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of Bitcoin? on: April 18, 2018, 11:28:21 AM
Ok, so this is the very first time I am seriously concerned about the future of bitcoin:

https://gizmodo.com/child-pornography-that-researchers-found-in-the-blockch-1823927566

This article talks only about child pornography within the blockchain, but apparently the researchers also found copyrighted material, and other illegal content. Having worked on international governance matters, I fear this could mobilize sufficient national authorities to arrange a concerted crack-down on anything related to bitcoin (starting with, for instance, prohibiting exchanges, fiat flows related to bitcoin etc.).

Given the nature of the blockchain, I can't see any TECHNICAL solution.

Two questions in this regards:

1) do you agree that this is a major threat to the existence of bitcoin?
2) assuming that bitcoin would have be "restarted" (a fork obviously would not solve the problem), how could an "ethical" and "legally acceptable" from of the blockchain and thus bitcoin work?

Even before, there are lot of issues of child pornography in pur society. It is not a new to everyone that technology is used in order to make this such crime. And as of now, the backbone of blockchain technology of bitcoin is also used in order to make a transaction in child pornography.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should i do after buying bitcoin on: April 18, 2018, 05:11:18 AM
I have 20$ of bitcoin. What should i do with it instead of spending all.Tell me Pls. Cheesy
Using it for trade is not an option, and as of right now, since we don't have to many merchants using it, I don't think there is any reason to spend it. If I were you, I would just keep those coins in a desktop wallet and leave it there. If you can keep investing some more. Since the fees are low again, it's affordable to buy small amounts on an exchange and send it to a wallet.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin just a brand? on: April 17, 2018, 11:29:18 PM
Litecoin is faster, monero is more private, ETH has smart contracts and there are much more altcoin with much more features, even Bitcoin Cash is faster than Bitcoin, but BTC keeps rising much faster.
Don't you think it's just because of the name?
People only want to make more money and bitcoin currently offers exactly that, and relatively reliably as well, since major players have started to enter the bitcoin market as well. That is enough reason for your average person to invest in bitcoin.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing to Bitcoin is not that easy on: April 17, 2018, 06:23:51 AM
There's a lot of things you need to consider that if you don't give importance your investment may be at risk so here are some of the things ou need to consider or to study.

Learn about the basics first such as:
• Bitcoin wallets
• How Bitcoin works
• What is Blockchain
• Types of wallet
• And different kinds of investments

Second Learn what kind of investments you need to do, here are:

• Trading
• Holding

When you've decided what kind of investment you're going to do start finding exchange where you will bought your first bitcoin there's a lot of platforms where you can buy bitcoins such as:

• LocalBitcoins
• Binance
• Coinbase
• Just search on the internet.

NOTE: You should know the risk you're going to face when it comes to investment remember that there's no assurance that if you invest you're going to earn so invest only what you can afford to lose.

It will probably take a little to understand the difference between different wallets but nothing to complicated. I have to say that at the beginning you wont uunderstand much a about blockchain or how bitcoin works but nowadays there are dozens of websites and videos that explain through different methods all this stuff with bitcoin and blockchain
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fast Important News from April on: April 17, 2018, 12:58:52 AM
1. Further companies and organizations associated with cryptaluts and Blockchain technology will join the collective lawsuit filed vs Twitterr, Facebook, Google. Organisations from Kazakhstan , Switzerland and Armenia  will support promoters from Russia, South Korea and China. The process is to take place in the United States and was initiated by RACIB, the Russian Cryptovalent and Blockchain Association.

2. The Pakistani Central Bank (SBP) has recently issued a special statement that significantly affects the circulation of cryptocurrencies in that country. In it he shows his position regarding the implementation of this form of payment, conducting Initial Coin Offering and their performance by individuals and institutions.
Commenting further on the actins of these country it looks like that they are the one who really want the bitcoin implementation within their country as why would a central bank will support the whole thing at all? I mean we always keep saying that central of this country and that country issued notice to declare the illegal use of the bitcoin while Pakistan central bank is doing exactly opposite of that
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No future for bitcoin on: April 16, 2018, 10:16:14 AM

59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why people think that bitcoin is buble coin ? on: April 16, 2018, 07:02:57 AM
after 10 years has been past of bitcoin but still people think bitcoin is bublecoin , why ?
They don't know the blockchain technology . They don't know the advantages. They think every thing which is valuable should be physical. They cannot imagine something to be valuabe but with no physical shape. Another reason is that bitcoin is not being widely used.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will do to banks what email did to the postal industry. on: April 16, 2018, 12:01:58 AM
Bitcoin will do to banks what email did to the postal industry.
They will still be part of the world. That comes the point where humans make profit upon the service of technologies such as AI cryptocurrency and stuff. The point is manpower is still needed and can cowork intechnology.
