Anyone here mining Sia, as soon as i Start the Plugin it says first

-The miner has start with intansity ***

2 seconds later

-The GPU miner has stopped

Can get it fixed any help will be appreciated Cheesy thx

Not very informative. Did you try running the miner from the command line? The CLI might give you some error message. Post those here.

I dont have a command line in the wallet , not like a old wallet were you have the console.

also the miner i have is the inbuild plugin and you only have a start button there, if i do use the button i just see a popup started and straight after it pop up miner stopped.

If i download the other miner, not the wallet plugin it says i miss the MSVCR120.DLL  , probably that microsoft i needed to download what i did + installed.

Are you running sia-gui-miner or using the gominer? You should be able to run either of these from the command line. Just open command prompt and navigate to the folder where the miner EXE is located. Type sia-gui-miner --help to see options, and run accordingly.

Anyone could tell me how much coins are producing SIA each day?

At present, about 38 million. There are 144 blocks/day. The block reward is 300,000 minus the blockheight.

yeah so my wallet blockchain has synch'ed- took about 12 hrs or so.

I have a wallet password and a bunch of addresse in the wallet- is there a 'dumpprivkey' as in bitcoin where I can store it independently of the wallet file?
Or do I have to preserve the wallet file?

In principle, all you should need is the passphrase and seed, but there are currently no tools for recovering your wallet with those bits of info.

So, backup your wallet.json, your seed and passphrase (which, for now, are the same).

When you say export to 0.5.1 do you mean click the "Import Legacy Wallet" button from in the 0.5.1 UI?

It's not explained the most clearly so this has led to some confusion and I have not done this myself. rather I'm only stating it from memory after seeing it in Slack...

1) Firstly backup everything.
2) If you haven't already initialize a new wallet in the 0.5.1 UI, it will give you a password/seed
2.5) Backup the new wallet/password/seed
3) Click Import Legacy Wallet, from 0.5.1 and select the old wallet file
4) Enter the password from step 2
5) Close and re open the UI
6) Profit???
1. +
2. +
2.5. +
3. + - from 0.3.3.3
4. - The password is not requested, balance = 0
5. +
6. Balance = 0

So, I can forget about your coins?
There's plenty of people who have this working fine, you're doing something wrong and not putting much effort into these replies to fix it other than apparently trying to trash the coin. If you are serious about this join Slack where someone will walk you through it step by step.

Like in step 3, what do you mean "+ - from 0.3.3.3"? How does that help us help you?
I spent a few hours experimenting with this wallet shitcoin. And this hand-made article still trust their data?
Step 3 I've been doing in your wallet 0.5.1.
In the wallet 0.3.3.3 there is no such menu: "Import Legacy Wallet"

I recommend you seek help on the Slack channel, or the official Forum as suggested by the other replier. People will assist you faster there.

We all want to help, and your problem is solveable.

Also the .exe is corrupted (?)
Tried it 3 times over, but only the same errors

I am sorry, but I am out!

Which OS are you running? Sia-UI is broken on Windows XP 32 bit.

Have the devs made any moves to get this listed on exchanges other than Poloniex?

Although Poloniex is good it has had some severe issues over the past few days (taking a minute+ to load, which multiple users seem to be experiencing).

Even once they've resolved those issues, it'd be good to see the coin on a few different exchanges in the name of decentralization. If you need votes or support, please let me (and I hope us) know so we can extend a hand to help.

Which exchanges did you have in mind? Seems there are fewer and fewer these days. On the one hand, its good to have one exchange with a lot of volume. But, having a couple of exchanges in case Polo drops dead is a good idea too.

I have contacted exchanges in the past, but they never respond. I guess most of them expect you to give them a nice offer and they'll list your currency that way. Bittrex has like 190+ coins listed (among them many scams), but not Siacoin. Make your own conclusions. I'm not even sure I would want Sia listed on such an exchange...

Rather than getting listed Sia on every exchange, I think the devs should resist getting listed on dodgy exchanges.

Right now, the only "exchange" I would consider a good match for Sia is ShapeShift and perhaps one of the 3 large Chinese exchanges.

Also, please forgive the noobiness but how is Sia different from MaidSafe?

MaidSafe has much more ambitious aims. Sia aims to cover one thing (decentralized file storage), and to do it great at a great price.

Sia currently works. MaidSafe does not.

whether it is possible to enter into a trade bittrex Huh Huh Huh

Doesn't seem like Bittrex supports Siacoin. Which is odd when you consider they support 190+ cryptocurrencies... I guess its one of those exchanges where you pay them a fee to get your scamcoin listed.

So I have a remote disk mounted on a windows machine. How do I set the client to share the space on this device only?

On Linux you would create a symbolic link from your /host folder to the mounted disk. On Windows, I think you can use the command mklink. See:
http://www.windows7home.net/how-to-create-symbolic-link-in-windows-7/

Ill do I wanna test it. But shouldnt this be in the GUI to make it easier for people to use it.

Synced the wallet in no time, but got stock at block 34680 almost 3 hours ago.

The UI is work-in-progress. Right now, devs are focusing on the core features. User experience and features will be added gradually.

About sync: Several people have had issues syncing in the last 1-2 days. Could be that a large portion of the network for some reason is behind, but I'm not sure. Devs are also working on syncing related issues. Just be patient and it should sync eventually, though it may take some time.

I bought in with 5 bitcoins at 6 sats and i hope to see it go to 60 sats atleast, that would be a nice 10x return Cheesy

I am confident it will get to that level, but be prepared to hold on to your siacoins for a couple of months at least. There's exciting stuff happening in development that will improve the network in the coming weeks/months.

I'm new to SIACOIN  and I'm installing the wallet now . i will be setting up the Storage Hosting but what price is good ? I see it is set at 10GB and i see i can
changes it so what price is good ?

You mean what price to charge? The max price is 500 SC. Clients will ignore you if you charge more than that. Other than that, anything between 0 and 499 Siacoins / GB / month is possible.

To run a host, just keep in mind you really need to run your host 24/7 and have a static IP address. If clients cannot connect to you and confirm you still have files at the end of the file contract, you won't be paid.

Also note, that if you close the UI you also shutdown Sia.

error opening consensus database: MapViewOfFile: Not enough storage is available to process this command.

THUS i cannot access my 7.7 million SIA and they may be ..... lost ?

This release is full of bugs, i only tried to upload a file, then i deleted the file and now this happens.

How am i to recover my coins ? I deleted consensus and every time it gets to 1gb and something this happens. Every time. SIAD closes and then i get this error when trying to restart.

So yeah, maybe not sabotage, just bad coding ? BETA or not, this shouldn't happen.

Backup you wallet.json. Keep a safe copy (or 2, or 3) in a different location in case you accidentally move/delete stuff. Your coins are NEVER lost as long as you keep a backup of your wallet and the seed (your passphrase).

The issue you're reporting is not something I've seen reported before. But, we need more details in order to help you. Such as:

* OS
* are you running the latest version i.e 0.5.1?

I would advice you to just do a clean install, and resync the blockchain. Copy the wallet over (COPY!!! Keep a backup, always!!) before you run Sia again.

The "Not enough storage is available" is very clear. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you have enough disk space? How much space is available on the drive where Sia is installed on your system?

If you continue having problems, seek help on the official forum at http://forum.sia.tech

Sabotage. Everybody is a crook in this business.

That error looks to me like a full hard drive. How do you figure it's sabotage or Sia's fault?

eh, don't bother...

Can't believe I misses this innovative coin for almost 1 year.
Trying to read your code now. Wow you're really doing from scratch, TacoByte? Respect, man.

Place my buy order immediately @ poloniex after reading a few lines Smiley

You're not the only one. Sia is the best kept secret in my mind. Hoard while the coins is still very cheap.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: February 04, 2016, 05:59:33 AM
Why is there so much sell pressure, and so little buy pressure?  Huh

Miners for the most part. In fact, its pretty cool that price is keeping up meaning there is constantly funds injected into the market. Demand is still low and people are assessing 0.5.1 and waiting for Sia to come out of beta. Development is moving ahead fast, and there should be a new version in a couple of weeks I think. Stay tuned.

Checking Out Sia, a Blockchain-based Cloud Data Storage Service
We are continuing our recent look into blockchain-based storage services such as Storj and crypto coins that are mineable with HDD such as Burst with another similar service that is more like Storj and Burst combined into one – the Sia. This project offers users to store files in the cloud using other users’ free disk space and people with free disk space to earn something extra by providing it to the network. Sia uses SiaCoin, a crypto currency token that is used for getting contracts to store your files as well as to get paid for sharing your free disk space...

Tnx for writing this. I left some comments :-)

Next noob question.

Is it ok to just MOVE the installation of SAI from 1 drive to another? I am wanting to increase my offering substantially, however it is currently on a drive that cannot accommodate the space I want to allocate. Do I just stop all the services and apps, then move it to desired location restart the app and increase the allocated space?

Yes, you can just move the entire installation directory. Close Sia first though. Oh, and you can also symlink just the host directory if you wanted to. Or, you can run siad with the --sia-directory parameter (see siad help).

Moved and back running. Updated to a 3TB offering now :-)

Cool! Now is a good time to offer up more space. Smaller hosts start to fill up and there's a been a big increase in activity on the network lately. Prices have gone up as well. So, i seems a good time to make some extra bucks by hosting up more space. I think I'll jack my host up to 5 TB as well.

So what is the best way to come up with a price? If you click on the FILES portion of the client, it lists storage currently at 182.81s / GB/month. is that a good way to guestimate how much to charge for contracts?

The price listed on the File page takes into account x6 redundancy. Hosts, on average, actually charge just a 6th of that. Still, host charges vary a lot. Some charge as little as 3 SC/GB/Mo, some as much as 500 SC/GB/Mo. The absolute max is 500 SC; the Sia client will refuse to make contracts above this price.

See http://siapulse.com/page/network or query Sia with
Code:
siac hostdb
to see the current prices charged by Hosts.

When you charge more, you will receive fewer contracts. Still, with the small number of active hosts, I think you could charge close to the max and still get a good number of contracts. Its a bit of an unknown game at the moment. I would experiment with different rates. Change the rate every few days, monitor how many new contracts you're getting and figure out the best (i..e most profitable) rate that way.
