41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: April 23, 2017, 09:25:41 PM
Ok, the lightfoot bb code is ready for posting somewhere. Dropbox seems to want email addresses, they suck. The file is 900mb 7zipped, a image file of a 32gb SD card. So get a 32gb or bigger SD card, tell me where to put this file, and people can use it.

C

will the difference in speeds matter on your choice of a SD brand/card for your BBB black mod above?

I plan on getting a MicroSD Sandisk 32gb Class 10 card but they come in 30/48/68 speeds or some such

not a big diff in price so if the higher speed helps a bit will grab such

just figured I'd clarify the microSD speed on a 32gb Sandisk Class 10 before I picked up a couple to play with the BBB code

No real need to get a bigger sd card like he suggests. Just use what you have and truncate the empty space he has on the .img file before burning it to a sd card.
pm me if you need help with that.
If You could shrink that image and upload for us im sure others like me would be very gratefull, cheers

Oh lord, let's try to stay on topic.

Two problems:
1) That solution will not have enough surface area to keep the main chip cool. The power supplies are the bigger problem, but the best solution is to run them a bit more slowly (60-70mh) and not at a screaming 80. Also someone else made a new bracket for the factory heat sink that allows you to stick heat sinks on the supplies.

2) Ability to dump more heat does not fix the problem that the power plug on the Titans is already over limits. Pull more power and you burn the plug which shorts and destroys the cube in a lot of cases.

I ran a Neptune with liquid cooling, worked great until the pump stopped one night. Small explosion, big mess.

-> The big one is a bracket for the main large sink so that aux sinks can be mounted on the DC/DC's.

Well I know I'm not the first one who is manufacturing a X Bracket, but I'm in Europe and that's new :-) (at least).

Also I agree that the plugs are the weak (PCB I did not X-Ray it for good) component Bottleneck for Power. But I came up with a Double Plug solution on top of each other bridge-soldered together.

As soon as I start manufacturing, please let me know if somebody needs Cube upgrade Kit. (primarily for Europe people, but I will make an exception for all Forum members :-))

BTW: how can I insert pictures directly in the post., I used img tag and it shows as link?
You got me at "im in Europe" let me know when product is ready ;> any idea what those will sell for?

44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 29, 2017, 03:21:02 PM
Please, those with an Antminer L3 mining on nicehash (or ever mined), could you check your miner's hardware version? This is what I see in the "System Overview" tab:

Code:
Hardware Version:      1.0.1.1
Kernel Version:        Linux 3.8.13 #22 SMP Tue Dec 2 15:26:11 CST 2014
File System Version:   Tue Nov 22 17:55:48 CST 2016

Maybe my miner has an old firmware? The kernel is from Dec 2014...

Did you do any firmware update? I could find NOTHING about Antminer L3 on Bitmains web.
mine is:
Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   1.0.1.1
Kernel Version   Linux 3.8.13 #22 SMP Tue Dec 2 15:26:11 CST 2014
File System Version   Mon Dec 19 16:57:57 CST 2016

Im using SRR for couple weeks now, device is great and saves me lot of time so thumbs up! There is one thing that could be even more helpfull - when rig hangs the SRR works flawless but sometimes if only miner hangs not whole rig it still recieves packets and aint restarting - solution could be checking if miner is sending packets on custom set port unless someone has better idea.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 29, 2017, 09:25:45 AM
Well im using stratum+tcp://scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333#xnsub in all my L3'a and its working perfect, in cgminer You should pass "/" after port number, it is needed in bfgminer for example which is in titans.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone want to do a Baikal Groupbuy? on: March 20, 2017, 06:59:39 PM
well its quite simple imo, if You have plenty of miners that earn You shitton of coins, what do You do, sell them for 1900$ or mine the shit out of them while price is high and then sell them out when earnings go down?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 12, 2017, 12:56:28 AM
anyone tried to oc those badboys? How far did You go, are they stable and whats power usage with oc?

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.7 on: March 02, 2017, 09:29:23 AM

just tested 3 cards separatly and they all mine perfect. When i want to run 2 cards together it crashes after some time ... so would this be something with PSU or with MOBO? its defenatly hardware related. i know i could easily fix it with buying a 6 pci motherboard ( asrock h81 pro btc ) and with a PSU of 1200 watts but i try to mine with hardware that i have available for free here at my home. so again , setup is 3 cards on 1 mobo and each card has its own 300 W PSU and the mobo has its own 300 w PSU. pci riser of each card is connected to the PSU from that card ...

please help

What cards are you trying to use?

A 300W PSU is no good for mining and you said you are daisy chaining like 4 PSU?

Why would you do that? Add2Psu is like £20 each and you have 4! Or are you doing some of your own wiring hacks?

I would say undoubtedly a power issue, however, you didn't say what mobo.

I wanted to make a miner of old computers that I have at home. I used an old Mobo anf 5 old PSU 300 w. Only the 4 Rx 480 nitro 8g are new. But I just bought a Corsair HX 1200i. Hope this gets it stable, otherwise I need to buy new Mobo Smiley

Corsair HX 1200i is a good PSU. Should be more than enough.

yeah PSU is fine now , but i still get unexpected crashes. I have a windows 10 version but it is not activated ... also i dasbled windows updates ( it crashed once because it was updating ) and this morning it crashed again , and when i looked in windows event viewer , it says that the pc restarted because of a bugfix ... but it just crashed and does not restart. Could this be the mobo ? thats still an old shitty 4 pci mobo.

i have flashed the 4 rx 480 cards to 1500 mem straps , and in claymore i have set the CPU to 1160mhz / 917 mv   and the mem to 1930 mhz / 917 mv ...       could this be causing windows crashing because of bugfix ?

this bugfix issue is the last problem i need to fix to have a stable mining rig

Claymore's miner has got some logs. Maybe you can take a look into these.

You can also try to increase VDDC and MVDDC

the logs look fine , no abnormal issues ... i cant see a gpu problem or so. i will reinstall windows 10 , then disable windows update again and windows defender. install the catalyst 15.12  ( currently i have the newest running , i heard 15.12 is more stable ) and i will set up the claymore miner with 1500 straps but no undervolting. i want to see it running stable for more then 6 hours ... any more suggestions i can or should take care of?
15.12 wont work with RX series You will need 16.x and if i remember correctly for 480's better copy 1750 straps

Ok thx. Yes I tried with 1750 straps and get a higher speed 800hash but when undervolting I draw less power at 750 hash with the 1500 straps. U think it could be the Mobo as well? Maybe I need to buy a cheap more recent 4pci Mobo?
usualy i would blame risers or psu, ive been mining on old mobos without problems atm im also using unactivated win 10 for months so thats not it, just make sure to turn off autoupdates, most stable driver for me is 16.9.2 im running all 35 gpus on it, but as it was said here couple of times claymore has stability issues with rx cards, thats why for one am using wolf atm. If You are working with clocks and uv i would recommend watttool not afterburner or typing values into claymore config

I get error on all of my rigs win 10 64bit i tried different drivers but still the same result, anyone has solution? I have 5gpus on 3 rigs and 7gpus on rest. For example all runs peachy for weeks on ZEC
Thanks in advance

@claymore: Thank you for the many features and other improvements. I appreciate your work and the support you give to the hobby miners like me.

I have issues since I turned my rigs to XMR mining:

Is it a good idea to use CN miner with 16.10.3 ATI drivers or should I "downgrade" to 15.12 or an older 16.x version? I have 6*RX470 ref. 4GB Sapphire cards in my rigs, and I can't stabilize them. I tried with original/factory bios and settings, I also tried lower freq. and voltage, mem.timing mod, etc., but the OS (WIN10) always crashes.

Previously I used your awesome ZCASH miner and the rigs were rock-stable.

Miner is compiled with 15.12 drivers, but for Polaris cards you cannot use 15.x drivers, so use 16.x drivers, currently I use 16.11.3 for tests.
If you don't overclock your cards, check PSU and risers.

Thank you for the answer. I have 1300-1600W (gold) PSUs and VER005 USB risers. I turned the rigs back to ZEC mining and everything works fine and stable. My last idea was to change the driver.

I have the exact same problem! Already thought of going to win7 with 6gpu mod but that seems too much of a hassle right now.
@Claymore do you use windows 10 with the 16.11.3 drivers for tests?
@ffthomas How old windows 10 version you have? Can you let us know if the 16.11.3 driver works ok.
I tried different drivers on 6rigs 16.11.3 including, win10, rx480 and rx470. All rigs work flawlessly on zec for weeks without any issue, but on xmr they just suddenly hang sometimes after 10 mins or couple hours if they would just restart then no problem, log aint showing any errors it just crashes. Gpus have stock clocks.

two rigs with rx470 and one rig with rx480 all stock settings for now were running for hour or so than crashed and hanged system, i turned on logs now will check whats happening

what hashrate for R9 480 ?

im getting 630 and i think something should be tweaked

mining XMR
im getting 700h on rx480 8gb - only mem straps copied, stock clocks, switched straight from zcash
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 on: December 29, 2016, 09:36:02 PM
What is the hashrate for r9 390 and 390x should i move to xmr from zec ? I'm concerned about diff. Thx
i just tested on 390x out of the box stock settings gives me ~830h running stable for over 3h now
altho evry rig with rx470 or 480 hangs whole rig between 10-60min of running on stock settings also, any tips anyone?
