Namecoin is not easy to use. It requires more coding and more services that use them and have large userbase.

I can add additional DNS servers supporting .bit domain to my router config. But 95% of average internet users cannot. The problem is no real and pressing need for that and there are other workable alternatives.

true, its way to complicated for the avg user.
Namecoin is very complex.

txfees depend on priority voodoo of your coins. If you have your coins lying around for a year you may not have to pay anything.

also on fees:
https://dot-bit.org/HowToRegisterAndConfigureBitDomains

Higher name_op fees
With higher fees for name operations there is a problem of what to do with them. Distributing to a single miner does not work very well because miners can then register at a discount / resell. Distributing to several miners is too complicated and creates lots of dust (small outputs). Depositing coins that can later be redeemed is not really a fee in my eyes. The only working solution I see is destroying coins which a lot of people are afraid of.

Maybe we can accept destruction of value if we agree to keep a minimum block reward of 1NMC forever? (waiting for the storm)
Block reward shouldn't be changed.
Fee destruction should remain but the amount should decrease over time eventually to null.
Mining reward should remain almost constant (slightly decreasing over time. This way the transaction and registration fee rewarded to the miners will compensate the decreasing block reward.

The openDNS site seems to be bugged.

-What are Popular Ideas? Popular Ideas are ideas submitted to Idea Bank with the greatest number of votes. - opendns

But some ideas with high vote never go from Fresh Ideas to the Popular Ideas category.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Ripple is Superior to Bitcoin... on: May 14, 2013, 06:42:12 PM
Opencoin says Ripple is open-source, but there are no sources in public. They should replace all "open" with "close", until that Ripple is scam.

Another "brilliant" reply that doesn't address anything I've written about in my original post.  Good job genius.

I will try to answer directly.
Question: 'Why Ripple is Superior to Bitcoin...'
Answer: 'They are superior in lying because they pay 1 million Ripples for each professional scammer which is lying for them.'

April 9, 2013: evil hoarders (people who have a higher demand for Bitcoin than I think they should have) are driving the Bitcoin price up.

April 11, 2013: evil exchanges (people who didn't invest as much in the quality of their exchange platforms as I think they should) crashed the price of Bitcoin!

April 12-May 1, 2013: Evil speculators (people who buy and sell Bitcoin when I think they should not) and evil manipulators (people who bring fiat currency into Bitcoin when I think they should not) are driving the price of Bitcoin up, down, and all over the map.

May 3, 2013: Evil alt-coin creators (competitors who create similar products that I think they should not create) are driving the price of Bitcoin down.

I would be so much better off, if other people did not have the freedom to do these things that I wish they would not do.  Therefore, these people must be evil.
High bitcoin prices are good.
