http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/DPOS_or_Delegated_Proof_of_Stake#ScalabilityThere are hard realities we have to face. When systems scale they become centralized for economic reasons. It doesn't help to insist on semantics and theories when in practice you end up with worse solutions. Daniel Larimer in his two blog posts shows why DPOS is the better option when we look on how NXT, PPC and BTC are operating in practice.

BitShares, the fact that it is so high up on coinmarketcap and people still forget to add it to lists like these is just more evidence that it is undervalued

New DPOS version of PTS will have 10s transaction speed

Question (for which the obvious answer seems to be "yes"). If we have multi address wallets (which I assume a lot of people do), we will have to import the private key for each separate address, yes?
Yes. This is a security issue where the unfortunate aspect is trusting that compiled binaries don't steal data. Or you can compile the code yourself and examine it. People need to understand and be aware of what exposing your private keys means. Also understand that it isn't just about importing your private keys. It is giving binaries access to where your Bitcoin wallet. Always be skeptical about doing this. There is talk about signing of messages being implemented to redeem (claim) sharedropped funds. If something like this is feasible upon final release we will try to incorporate it. Signed messaging would be far more acceptable, if possible. Not that we're paranoid or anyth... scratch that. I am. New BitShares PTS devs seem to have a solution here, Secure genesis claimsIt is now possible to claim genesis balances without importing private keys by means of the new "wallet_import_by_signedmsg" command. A description of the idea can be found here: http://pts.cubeconnex.com/index.php?topic=37.0

So are we going to miss out on the PLAY DAC snapshot ?
What do you mean? The PLAY snapshot of PTS was on November 5th. NO PLAY dac is on the 15th dec ,,, so there no way in hell i will be removing my PTS to my wallet ....( which will prob take 2 week for confirmations ) you should be asking all exchange to honor the snapshot No, Play is on 8th December for BitShares. For PTS it was 5th november. http://bitsharesplayfoundation.org/en/If you want to move your PTS around, then just try first with a small amount to see if it gets to the other side.

The rise has only been modest after the announcement, which means that investors still have doubts that the money is there or that it will be well spent. I invested a bit now just because I am generally trusting, and play my risks that way, but most people don't and instead follow a conservative investment strategy.
Transparency regarding the investment would help boost the price. If you worry about volatility you can use bitUSD on the BitShares blockchain to prove and track the funds.* In any case involving the community is a great idea. Good luck!
*This would also get you significant attention from the BitShares community as they would very happy to see that their services are useful and would publicize it as an event. You also get 3-5% interest on bitUSD held there.

DPOS is remarkably effective! Even at this market cap delegates are getting a decent salary. In addition, the official marketing push is set to happen within a month or two. Couple that with the share drop mentality, with third party chains (Peertracks, JDC, Rand Paul coin, Sparkles, Play etc.) already share dropping on BTS stakeholders to get support, then we see that the confluence of economic incentives here is creating a new type of nuclear bomb.. If I were you I'd start a thread over at bitsharestalk.org - people over there love to evaluate new business ideas, thinking of blockchains in terms of DACs.

Many of the 2.0 projects have collected a lot of money, and they are looking to promote themselves heavily in the near future. Counterpart has GEMS and Byrne, BitShares has VOTE/Peertracks and a huge marketing push aimed at mainstream, Ethereum has over 10 million dollars that they will use to promote themselves and educate a fleet of coders, ... The next crypto bubble with rise to the refrain of "Bitcoin 2.0"
i was always wondering why should a dev who has collected millions actually release a product? they dont need to work any more... Most people are honest, genuinely want to contribute and value their reputation. This space attracts many scammers because people are greedy and rush to invest. But this space also attracts many idealistic, extremely intelligent people who honestly just want to change the world for the better. A few million dollars is great and motivates everyone, but being the next Steve Jobs or Sergey Brin is even greater and motivates the best among us.

The next crypto bubble will rise to the refrain of "Bitcoin 2.0"

I would like to nominate Daniel " bytemaster" Larimer. Among other things, Larimer worked out how to create bitAssets, that is, assets (like bitUSD) that exist on a blockchain but are pegged to the value their real world counterpart, Larimer pioneered the notion of a Distributed Autonomous Company (DAC), Larimer built Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) and Transfer Invisibly To a Name (TITAN) to serve as the underlying BitShares blockchain-technology, Larimer outlined the relation between decentralization, economies of scale and cost. Larimer also started the bounty for the most watched Bitcoin video ever back in 2010. Larimer also deserves special mention for being exceptionally generous and honest with his projects, outlining them in detail on the forums long before developing them, sharing all his insights and solutions immediately as he thinks of them, encouraging people to challenge them, and having all code and written content available openly with free access. http://bitshares.org/https://bitsharestalk.org/https://github.com/bytemaster

Cryptsy enabled withdrawals, so I sent to my newly downloaded Ron Paul Wallet. Now it seems unable to sync. Any ideas?
Also would be great with an official response from the Dev across all channels, that yes indeed, the snapshot is 20th November as originally intended.
