Are they doing this out of spite for bitmain?? No offense but it does not sound believable that it suddenly exists.
I could only suspect it before but now it is all too clear. Halong is simply a propaganda smoke screen in the BTC/BCH tug of war. Bitmain allied with BCH therefore BTC Devs need a hardware ally so they created Halong. Slush is also very aligned with BTC Core Team so it all makes sense. Halong may very well have every intention of trying to create an actual miner so this is not the typical run away with the money scam. However they are completely deceptive in their tactics. I have come to believe their motives are: #1 publicly denounce bitmain. you can easily see this in their marketing and comments on this thread #2 soak up money from miners who would otherwise be buying from bitmain #3 collect money from the unwary as a slush fund to be used to advance Core priorities #4 the last priority in all this is to create an asic miner. They may actually make one. I can only hope that they do but it is not their primary focus.

After further research and after being in contact with Innosilicon our company will no longer be going to Miami for the demonstration day.
We have talked to Innosilicon regarding Halong using one of their machines in the press pictures and we have reached a concrete verdict. We will be taking our business elsewhere. Caveat emptor, please do not delve any further into this smoke and mirror operation and put more money into this. We have done the most intensive research by far of anyone online and there simply isn't a silver lining.
If anyone wants more information feel free to pm me, and if anyone wants our spot for the demo day or information on it also pm.
Don't leave us. Please share your information publicly. People deserve to know.

Blake 2b: SIA Blake 2s: Verge Blake 14r: DCR
That are the only one i found.
But only Sia can be mined with A3 Asic, as far as I know. GPU could be programmed to mine other algorithms but not an ASIC.
|
|
|
Also, keep in mind, difficulty for SIA is currently BROKEN. Hashrate is not as high as you think. So all those whattomine calculators aren't worth clicking buttons on.
Wallets for SIA (SC) coin are also broken at the moment.
|
|
|
so here is a thing now difficulty is 933,520,449,715,105,000.000 and network hashrate is 600th
if they sell 100K units network hashrate will be 85000th=85ph
You forget that Bitmain has been mining for the last 2 weeks with these units. Therefore the added hash rate will be 0. Lets see what happens.

5 day roi , so looks like this was goldmine for first batch and paper weight once the batches gets turned on in a few weeks.. the issue I see is mining this SC coin .. where to even mine? are there pools? do they reward in SC and you have to get to an exchange to get BTC out of it, etc
Pools seem to be Nanopool and Siamining https://siamining.com/https://nanopool.org/

anyone affected by the B2x Telegram Wallet Bot hack? What should we do?
First I heard of it. Link please? I used B2x Core Wallet.

I think Innosilicon is involved in this project.
Totally serious question. What advantage would Innosilicon get from "partnering" with another mining manufacturer? If they are providing all the intellectual knowledge, design, implementation, etc. what do they get out of it?

Yeah, but what happens if the current FUD that China might ban mining happens. All of these miners there will be switched off, and while they are moved, the rest will mine in immense profitability. So why do we (outside China) miss the chance. It is a risk, so mining turns out to be risky too. Also Bitmain officially declared partnership with Switzerland, so these guys are definitely up to something outside China.
I like your reasoning. I see same news stories about mining moving to Canada. Seems like Chinese miners have read the writing on the wall. They are diversifying globally. Buying a miner for me is like buying an option. If you can control costs then you limit your downside risk and you might catch some upside.

PSUs come in boxes of 8 units. Try like this.
Thanks. Surprising results when I priced out all the options for UPS. Qty 6 => 335.87 Qty 7 => 334.2 (Not a typo) Qty 8 => 381.94 Ended up ordering 7 which means Wu gives me free shipping cost on one PSU. I wonder if they have an off by one error in the shipping calculation cost.
|
|
|
When ordering PSU only from Bitmain the shipping cost seems very high. I assume this is because each PSU is shipped separately? Does anyone know a secret to save on shipping cost when ordering PSU?
Example: 10 x $105 = $1050 + $477 UPS shipping cost.

I'm getting around 7 USD a day through zpool, what's a good pool to use these days? Granatgas is back up but only does btc payouts, too expensive for txs
I like prohashing.com/ I went back to www.litecoinpool.org because prohashing is now telling folk to do a 1099 to the IRS (USA)... I don't have a problem with IRS ..I'm legal but went thru an issue with the bank saying I was evil (2013 ...all BTC was evil..thus bank contacted SEC on me for such) so what I suspect will happen with prohashing's 1099 is what happened with coinbase being the first to try an be legal...same as SEC..they will be able to do a blanket 'source of funds' letter to all on prohashing members that you and your CPA can trudge thru to prove you are legal....I prefer the IRS find me with others in a random audit not be singled out by a site sending out 1099's that according to my CPA are not even needed (I am not employed by prohashing nor a contractor...nor like in coinbase's case exchange $$$ for crypto etc) So went thru it once, don't need the IRS getting lazy and just shooting them out to all users of prohashing based on 1099's their own 'source of funds' mass letters. So I split....again, CPA said as far as they can tell, prohashing is simply doing this to make them feel better or they have bad lawyer advice...I myself think it is gonna bite prohashing in the ass, much like my bank got reemed after the fiasco with me (I was the only one, who came out, smelling fine in that mess, and obviously i've changed banks since) 1x was enough then you on a 'source of funds letter' Excellent observations. I think the reporting floor is $600 for 1099 so when I start to get close to those earnings I will probably move away from that pool. The crypto ecosystem definitely needs better support for professional mining operations that are incorporated. Pools and exchanges need to deal with us on corp-to-corp level. Let's start another thread or create a resource. I would like to gain from your knowledge.

That screenshot is highly suspicious, it's not *like* the A5 interface, it *is* the A5 interface. A huge *Thank You* to everyone who recognized that Halong stole the miner interface. Despite shill claims to the contrary, NOTHING is proven until there is an independent third party review.

It has to be done "blind" on an account that you do not know the password and you do not know the worker name.
EVERYTHING has to be on the up and up or else its a scam.
If fact, if the miner has a web page, someone else could be remotely monitoring any stratum/user used on your so-called prototype miner. Therefore, the ONLY PROOF is an INDEPENDENT review performed in an environment that is NOT CONTROLLED by Halong. Pictures and video of your setup would be REASSURING but NOT PROOF!
|
|
|
I understand that concern about the possibility of spoofing slushpool.
I would certainly be willing for elokk to type some random work name into my slush pool account and then change the worker name accordingly on the miner config page.
No! Wrong! Allowing a customer to enter a random worker name into YOUR slush pool account is NOT PROOF! You could have SHARED your slush account login with another person before hand who is MONITORING your workers. As soon as they see a worker spin up on your account they just add hash to that worker. It has to be done "blind" on an account that you do not know the password and you do not know the worker name. EVERYTHING has to be on the up and up or else its a scam.

just tried pointing at antpool... getting two or three out of three strat addr down, so i guess they are having problems. glad it isnt ourequip.
Thanks for confirming that. My experience is ports 3333 and 443 are always dead. Port 25 sometimes works. It makes antpool impossible to recommend.

Setting my BCH workers to PPLNS from PPS is not working on AntpoolI have tried to set my two BCH workers (one S9 and one S7) from PPS+ method to PPLNS, but it has not changed, it is not possible. (under settings -> payment section) I have tried to switch back and again to PPLNS several times, but it is not working - on the earnings page I can still see entries under the PPS+ method. However in the past I could switch to PPLNS. how can I switch? thank you in advance, Edit button, use drop down to change payment type then click Save button. Works for me.
