41  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: KryptMiner - 20th/s @ 800w (a new magical miner / scam?) on: March 04, 2018, 02:58:10 AM
I really hate to bump this thread, but in the interest of full disclosure, I have recieved two emails from them regarding my previous cancelled order. The first:

Quote
Hi Rick,

Hope you are well. I promised to get back to you just as soon as I had delivery confirmation.

We just received word today that the first batch of PowerDrives is being delivered to us this coming week, so if you still want one please go ahead and pay the invoice being sent to you direct from our payment processor.

Best Regards,

Glenn

And the second, from intellogence, who somebody asked about earlier I believe:

Quote
Hello Rick XXXXX,
You have a new invoice from INTELLOGENCE INC for 5045.00 USD, due on 2018-03-02.
Thank you for your business!
VIEW AND PAY INVOICE
(link removed)
INTELLOGENCE INC
5000 Birch Street, West Tower 3000
Newport Beach CA, 92660
949 394 8591

I have no intention of sending them any money, but as it is part of the story, it seems right to include it. The link goes to invoice.authorize.net/invoicing/ui/#/(an adress) which appears to be a server using microsoft rather than any payment processor I'm aware of. To get further requires entering your cc info, and I'm not going there again. I'm almost 100% sure this is a scam.

Payouts are half the amount dollar wise and gpu prices are twice as much compared to last year. Yet people are still trying to gpu mine?  There's plenty of bitmain asics that will give better returns.

asic = shit warranty

gpu = good warranty

most of my gear is now gpu due to asic warranty policy

I used to think ASICs were way better but I actually worked out that each one of my 8 gb rx580s gives me the equivalent earnings per day as 2 T/Hs of my bitmain ASICs. I'm small time I guess, but I want coins, and I don't want to pay cash for them. And I enjoy the selection process, reading about coins, selecting coins, targeting coins, and of course, mining coins. And HODLing coins, that too. And watching the prices of coins I have but have no intention of selling. And scouring the interwebs for gpu deals. Hell I guess I like pretty much all of it, even some of the stuff I bitch about sometimes.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 8gb rx580 earnings = 2 T/Hs ASIC earnings in btc on: March 03, 2018, 06:33:33 AM
My bitcoin ASICs are also limited to sha256, while my gpus can be pulled out of my btc operation at anytime if I see a need or desire.  I was getting and holding everything new, still holding them, but trying nh for a month. It's kind of a trap having worked this out, because I enjoy alt coins, it's more interesting and fun in a way. My ASICs just run, check the heat/air, check in every so often, and that's it, they just run. But my real goal is bitcoin, and now that I know how much capacity I can add using my gpus, it's going to be hard to keep them off of it.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 8gb rx580 earnings = 2 T/Hs ASIC earnings in btc on: March 03, 2018, 03:18:44 AM
I don't know if that's a self fulfilling prophecy or what, but that's what happened. Why? I'm not talking abut mining altcoins, I'm talking about my bitcoin operation, and the best way to expand it. My plans had always revolved around ASICs and slowly growing my capacity by adding machines over time when possible. Now this literally changes my thinking, gpus have many other advantages, less heat/power/noise, the ability to be added more frequently in smaller amounts, allowing for faster growth and more flexibility. WTF does it have to do with altcoins? I mean sure, I mentioned zclassic in passing, but that's ancillary. I guess it doesn't matter but it seems more relevant to those pursuing bitcoin than to the altcoin community. Whatever, you were right.
Cheers!

So phillipma57 who seems pretty smart said on another thread that gpus were more profitable. I thought that sounded kind of crazy, but I'm a noob, so I didn't say anything. That was probably about a month ago. A couple of days ago I was undecided what to do with my gpus after the zclassic snapshot, I had been on the donate pool for feb, so I put it on nicehash while I thought it over. I had never put my gpus there, but I was suprised at my earnings. I'm getting .0006688 a day on  four 8gb rx580s. That means each card is getting .0001672 btc per day.
My ASICs are doing about .00008361 per T/Hs per day. So multiply that by 2, and 2 T/Hs on my ASICs is .00016722 per day.

1 8gb 580 = .00016720
2 T/Hs ASIC = .00016722

I was way suprised. My 4 580s are earning the equivalent of 8 T/Hs on nh. I guess I just assumed that since you couldn't mine bitcoin with gpus anymore, that was that. So I'm not mining btc. But I still get it. That works. I'm adding the equivalent of 8 T/Hs to my small operation. I have to reconsider now my plan to expand my ASICs. This is giving me a lot to think about.
46  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: KryptMiner - 20th/s @ 800w (a new magical miner / scam?) on: March 02, 2018, 04:21:09 PM

Someone has pre-order this "Scam" miner ?,  i am talking with   Joseph Shamoon  (  https://www.linkedin.com/in/josephshamoon/  ) his uncle seem to be the  owner of this brand  ,   http://www.intellogence.com/

He said will sent a Live-video  with this Miner working...

That I would like to see !!! They already downgraded their claim from 20TH to 15TH.
But I seriously doubt any FPGA chip can outperform an ASIC.

Shamoon sounds a lot like Shlaimoun, the disgraced husband of Oussha, and known huckster, whose name was on one of the many credit card processors they have used so far. see here:

47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 02, 2018, 06:10:13 AM
*** that thing about gpus being more profitable ***

When I first read that a while back I thought it was insane. But my alt coin rig (4 rx 580s, 8gb)
is pulling in .00064576 btc a day on nh. That's the equivalent of adding  8 T/Hs capacity to my ASICs. Now I see what you mean. I paid 269 for 2 and 313 for the other 2, so about 1200, and I just frankensteined them onto my existing gaming pc. Compared to a 6.5 or 9 T ASIC that's far cheaper and more profitable.

I don't think what you said is so crazy anymore.
48  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: March 01, 2018, 08:13:27 PM
It doesn't mean much right now, but I'll be glad to post pics and specs of the 5 units I ordered for the April batch if/when I receive them. I'm guessing they'll arrive on April 30th! Also, I ordered 10 PSUs with the hope of being able to run all of them off my standard 110v home circuits...2 PSUs per miner. If that doesn't work then I suppose I'll have to pay for a few 220v circuits to be installed. I remain optimistic about their arrival, of course!

Speaking as one who tried everything else first and ended up getting 220, I would suggest you skip the in between and just get the 220. I had 2 circuits 2 outlets each for a total of 4, electrician charged 750 USD including the stock he used. I live in the expensive northeast and my house is 120 years old. The converters I bought that were terrible cost almost as much and I had to sell them at a big loss.I hope you get your units.

I could care less if Sig campaigns fail and die. In fact I prefer it.
50  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Signature campaigns. I need theymos to see this. on: March 01, 2018, 07:27:24 PM
A helpful poster on another thread explained to me that you can choose not to see the annoying campaign sigs by clicking a box in your user profile. I hadn't realized that. Works great.
But still, you will see tons of shitposts made by bounty campaign participants, so it's not a solution. Not annoying signatures are the problem, but the content of posts of signature and bounty campaign participants. Offcourse, you can manually put on ignore every shitposter, but it's time consuming and not very effective procedure I think. Shortly, this is why Merit system was introduced and we will see how situation will change after few months or maybe more.

You're right of course, the real problem is all the posters doing "Will btc rise toxxx" type threads just for sig clicks. It's just another hustle. I worry that the merits will be another one. Already I have been accused of starting a thread to earn merit. And there's the larger problem in a nutshell,  too many hustlers. So many people are trying to hustle everybody else. That makes everyone suspicious. It's like walking down a street filled with people doing 3 card Monty and the shell game, hustling the tourists for singles. Throw in a couple of people selling watches.

you're welcome
54  Other / Meta / Re: I HATE YOUR SIG CAMPAIGN, ALL OF THEM on: February 28, 2018, 06:50:33 AM
I wish we could get rid of them all. I hate the stupid huge banner when I'm reading. I hate the stupid posts and stupid threads written just to get sig views. I hate having to scroll down past them. I hate having them on the screen, blasts of useless eyecatching colors in between the posts I want to read. I hate having to try and decide if the poster is stupid, ignorant, in need of help, or just trying to earn a few satoshis.
 I hate hate HATE them.
Ban them all.
Forever.
There's an option where you can turn off avatar and signature click> profile > layout preferences > then check Don't show users' avatars.
Don't show users' signatures. You could also turn off everything as someone intended/wish to Don't show users at all. click> alt+f4 or unplug everthing you see that's plugged in your house supposedly that's really interesting.

Sorry for my sarcasm at all, but it seems you are not reading just scrolling the scroll button I'm not irritated personally when I'm reading a good topic you can just standby/participate in this section where signature is auto disable by default. > Serious Discussion, Ivory Tower

P.S It has been an issue way back the forum become popular in canaille, it might not be the right section to address this issue as signature advertisements is not, will not, shall not, become forum problem itself.

Oh yeah...... soooooo much better. Thanks again.
55  Other / Meta / Re: I HATE YOUR SIG CAMPAIGN, ALL OF THEM on: February 28, 2018, 06:40:51 AM

What an extreme aggressive OP! Most of what you wrote are right, but I am really curious about your objectives to start the topic. Is it for merit hunting?  Roll Eyes
[/quote]

I don't want anybodys merits or satoshis. I'm not selling anything. I was just annoyed today. And I really really hate sig campaigns. And I especially hate hate hate taking someone seriously, then halfway through posting I realize it's just a sig troll looking for clicks.

Cobalt937 Thank you, that's actually very helpful.

56  Other / Meta / Re: Stop Signature campaigns. I need theymos to see this. on: February 27, 2018, 02:41:54 PM
I'm with the op, ban the stupid things, they suck. They're annoying, and I hate them. They generate mondo stupidity. I feel bad for people that need money but enough is enough already. They're making money by annoying the crap out of me. And when I see a thread by a sig banner poster, my first thought is "sig campaign bait". It's like all the fud btc "news" stories on the interwebz, just there as clickbait. Get rid of them.

I wrote earlier in this thread that it was going to be a sha256 coin, that was wrong, in case anybody was misled, apologies, still equihash.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: stop listening to false news on: February 27, 2018, 02:22:51 PM
You could eliminate a lot of crap around here by simply banning signature campaigns. They drive useless posts like the clickbait sites drive the fake news.
60  Economy / Economics / Re: Government & Bitcoin on: February 27, 2018, 02:18:29 PM
Governments seek 2 things, power and control. Every "problem" they identify, they have the same solution... more government power, more government control. For your own good, of course.   Tongue
