Living through the next month is going to be a learning experience for a few people on here. Still, they'll come out stronger if they hold their nerve and learn something valuable about themselves if they don't.

On its way to you!

I just want the KNC pool site to come online so I can get signed up and pre-configure my settings.
isn't the KnC pool just for the miners that are hosted by them..?
didn't they say this was the case to prevent DOS attacks..?
then if true you wouldn't be able to configure it yourself via a browser as it's only done internally.

I'm no network expert or know much about DOS attacks, so if someone has the knowledge please clarify.

I thought this is what they said too. Presumably there will be some way we can keep an eye on things, but will have to wait for more info on that.

It's going to be horrific and fascinating at the same time watching the effect on the network - I'm seeing the last 10 minutes of "The Perfect Storm", directors bitcoin cut.

Fair points - I will leave it to you. Makes me look more generous than I was with those historical small donations!
47  Other / MultiBit / Re: Any way to freeze transaction cross rates in time on: September 04, 2013, 08:43:59 PM
I bow to your knowledge. I had in mind that transaction history would just be a static line that never changed or updated. So without needing historic data, Multibit just took your prevailing exchange rate information at the time the transaction history was written and then never updated it.

We'll all be sending our miners to data centres in Russia at this rate - Russia 2.4 to 9.58 c/kw according to Wikipedia
49  Other / MultiBit / Any way to freeze transaction cross rates in time on: September 04, 2013, 04:59:05 PM
Hi

The dynamic cross rates in Multibit are one of my favourite pieces of functionality, an instant look at what my BTC is worth in fiat. But, for transactions that have been and gone, is there any way to freeze their exchange rate at the time the transaction was made. Sending 10 bitcoins to someone now is a big deal, but it wasn't when a bitcoin was worth $10. When I look down my transaction list I see it rewriting history with every tick of the  exchange rate. I would like to freeze these historical transactions at the BTC/fiat rate applicable at the time as it is a truer represention of the size of the transaction rather than comparing everything to today's rates.

Thanks

Chris

And besides, if you want a BTC / GBP quote there aren't many places around to get that from aside from Gox

Hi, I ordered a Trezor too (and I like Multibit!) so I'll keep my fingers crossed that the coding to incorporate it isn't too taxing for you guys. Keep up the good work and thanks for multibit!

But on the bright side, it does mean that there is a residual market for a miner even after the well-informed have calculated that its economic life is over. Someone will want it - and that could make the difference making your money back or not.

If you are in the EU, not at all. Sweden is an EU company, and any EU registered company is considered an intra-community operator - you can buy and sell goods without any VAT between EU registered companies.

Because of my work I constantly deal with EU companies and I can guarantee you that there is no VAT in anything I buy/sell in the EU. In fact, my KNC miners have 0% VAT on the invoice.

That is simply not true. You always have to pay VAT in the EU. As to when, that strongly depends on certain factors. Consumers do it immediately, small businessses (in Germany) have to pay until the 10th of the next month and big companies do it at the end of the year.

no. the vat a business has to pay is the vat it GETs FROM customers. a business does not pay vat, itīs the customers. the business only collects it. when you buy soemthing as a business the invoice contains vat, but you deduct this vat from the vat you are collecting from your customers (= no vat). if you buy something from another country that is in the EU for your business, there will not be any vat.

+1. Mota, I'm afraid you're wrong on this one. Business inputs aren't Vat-able. A business can sell to another business within the EU without charging VAT as long as the recipient business quotes their EU VAT number, but it does have to be a cross border trade to be able to do this.

Oh that Genesis block calculator is just nuts. I get materially different results from it each week - down to more than just exchange rate changes. Perhaps they are mucking about with it. Besides, I think power consumed and likely output isn't accurate given what KNC have been saying recently

but you can mine altcoins Smiley

Well indeed...
I think you have to take them all with a pinch of salt and if you're jumping on board for the ride then you need to show some nerve too.

Cointerra look like they're holding firm with just the one machine for now. I suppose the other alternative is to consider merging this group buy with another one. Still, let's see how it goes...

Just pray KnC won't suffer loses in customs the way Avalon did Tongue

You have to include your VAT number at placing an order.
European products are also probably cheaper in taxes than non-european products.

So as an european, i don't worry much about the taxes or customs.
I do wonder for our American friends how this will come out to p(l)ay xD

I'm glad I'm in the US and not paying VAT.. I've seen the VAT costs on these and it makes my brain hurt. The last few times I've taken possession of things from across the pond, the customs fee (if any at all) was only a few percent. Yes, the items cost more than these miners.

Sometimes things get charged custsoms, sometimes they don't, and it's usually not bad at all really. I think the most I've ever paid is 5%.

I hope my unit skips through customs happily Smiley

Ghehe  Grin i hope mine as well.

Though what i found strange is when i orderd, i had to include my VAT, bur i diddnt see any change in costs except shipping
A 90 euro. Anyone else who had this?

What country are you ordering to?

Netherlands

Companies shipping to other companies cross border but staying within the EU don't need to levy VAT on each other if the recipient has a valid EU VAT number.
See endless earlier posts about the fact that KnC is treating its customers as business buyers. But when it comes to paying the bill, that's no bad thing as you've found.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 02, 2013, 06:15:08 PM
all that doing knc is good
but still no asic chip Smiley

No chip that they've shown us, but to come up with concrete dates like this they've got to be pretty confident about having chips themselves.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 02, 2013, 02:04:34 PM
so does that mean. All orders that were supposed to go in September are now scheduled to go out no later than October 15th?
Regards

It means they anticipate to fulfil all orders made by October 15th.

They aren't stupid so they wouldn't say that knowing the backlash should they not deliver on time I think..making a rod for their own back they don't need to set an exact date. Liking this.

You will all be given preferential treatment with our future generation devices.

 Cool

I like their style. It may be words, but they're saying the all right things to impress me. Setting a shipping completion date of 15th Oct is huge news in its own right. Go KNC!
