I am not that into DarkMarkets, are they the biggest market? I'm not sure who is the biggest as I don't use them personally but I believe they are one of if not the biggest from what I have read.

In the case of the two poker players in Iowa, months after their money was taken, they reached a settlement in which most of the money —$90,000 — was returned. They told CNN they believed it was the best deal they could have made at the time. Now, however, they are suing to get the rest of the money back and have asked for unspecified damages. The state of Iowa isn't giving it back and is not backing down. This is the classic mistake: To settle for getting 90% of the money back. Now they are suing after the settlement. The question becomes are their chances of success more or less now? Edit: These guys are poker players yet they do not seem to understand the concept of bluffing. My bet is with the state on this one. Let's assume they are professional poker players. That being the case the $100K was probably essential to their livelihood. If you are a baker and your bakery is seized, you don't really have the luxury of waiting ages for the case to play out in court to see if you might get it back. They were pro players - they are also not the only poker players I know who have had this happen to them. I can think of 5 off the top of my head in the last 12 months all very similar stories. It seems just a little bit too coincidental to me. They took the settlement because 90% today is better than 100% in 2 years time. This stuff happens more often than hits the headlines.

Has it ever been suggested that a portion of the mining block rewards are diverted to pay interest to coin owners who buy 'bonds' those coins are then locked up in a cold storage wallet and can not be accessed for x amount of days - as a way to encourage the use of Monero as a store of value?
I know Risto is going to chime in with some stuff about bonds in CK but I think working something like this into the code of the coin could be very beneficial.

Labrat has stated in the past he has opted for a refund from BFL. I am assuming he bought around 60 monarchs and should be getting around 500BTC+ refund. I would like to start a petition to distribute those coins to the investors and not use them to buy more hashrate that will just go into Zach's pocket. Per previous posts by Zach those funds had already been refunded and he was already putting them towards new hardware. This was quite a few pages back so I didn't go looking for it.At this point I think we can hope those BTC were reinvested. If they weren't they might be going towards the lawsuit right now. Also (I'm not a lawyer) I don't think any funds could be refunded/redistributed to <whatever we are supposed to be called now> while the lawsuit is going on. I don't recall seeing LabRat say he had received the refund only that it was due soon and then all this crap happened. I assume it is being used for build out costs for the franchise deal with Mega

I don't get it. They can just not go ahead and just leave it at that? What is the point?
Most likely a settlement is being drafted IMO

|

Yeah it seems that is the case currently - def a small win for lab rat getting it moved but it mostly just buys time. Nothing is getting decided in the case until April at the absolute earliest imo

Please do not spread FUD and false info. I'm not taking the proceeds of the mine for personal benefit and there are good things coming for Q1 2015, there are just some legal fees right now that were unplanned for. I have been advised that my only comment on this matter should be no comment and that LRM has not done anything illegal to warrant the current actions being taken against the company.
More information will become available through public means that anyone may feel free to get and share, but I am not able to comment at this time. I apologize for this.
-Zach
Personally - I am happy with this response. Thank you Zach.

I'd love to have been privy to the information at the Hearing.
Does anyone know what has been said?
It was continued until middle of November

The MSD hearing was supposed to be today or at least start today - assuming it wasn't delayed for a second time we should have some real info soon.

For the immediate funding needs, can an early GUI be offered to donors for a test-run? For long-term funding, can the mix-in include a percentage fee to the devs? And thank you for creating a Troll free zone. If I ever see the name Surplus Bob on here, I'll, I'll...thank him for helping me get discounted Monero Unfortunately, the early GUI is not possible. This is not a puzzle where you can appreciate half of the picture if you only have half of the pieces. When the GUI will be usable, it would be 90% complete. Do we have a ballpark timeline for release? Weeks? Months? more like a year?

MSD hearing is next week. Might finally get a statement from Ken after that.
