41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advertising networks that accept bitcoin on: December 31, 2013, 05:15:58 PM

Maybe someone who accepts bitcoin and allows place ads on google adwords?

There is only 1 company to allow what is showed in AdWords, but you can find smaller networks (https://a-ads.com) who deals in BTC.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lamassu Sells 100th Bitcoin ATM on: December 31, 2013, 05:07:25 PM
It's about time we get one in Amsterdam and I already expected one in Berlin.

Still good to see these ATM's are spreading.  Smiley

I would love to have one installed in those places since there is a massive market for it (in Amsterdam & Berlin), sadly I'm not located there so I expect alot of regulative barriers and it would probably be troublesome to operate it from a distance as well.

43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you could travel back in time, how would you change Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2013, 05:03:29 PM
they need a way to split stocks, but with the coins.

turn 12 million coins into 120 million.

no one wants to pay for a sandwich with .00000012 of a coin.

45  Economy / Economics / Re: ecrypto.net crashed, and my coins disappeared on: December 27, 2013, 10:05:36 PM
A clever man once said that if you're not the sole controller of your private key, you don't have any coins
46  Economy / Speculation / Re: So…it seems the Chinese are back on: December 27, 2013, 09:48:44 PM
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1tgntd/chinese_exchange_huobi_still_accepting_rmb/

Huobi CEO lets customers deposit via his personal accounts, I recall him having bank accounts at every major chinese banks, so ironically it's still easier to buy bitcoins in China than in EU/US
47  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone "all in" on bitcoin? on: December 27, 2013, 09:24:12 PM
As in, more than 80% of your savings are in it

Yes, but it didn't start that way Smiley

How will I be disappointed? It's not like there is looming global stock market crash in our future or anything. It's not like all of central and south America now has access to bitcoin. It's not like there is a debt crisis in the USA. It's not like the Fed is still printing $85 Billion a month.

oh shit.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Bitcoin Exchanges Suspend Operations on: December 26, 2013, 09:31:13 PM
I think people overestimate India, let's not forget the avg yearly salary is below $1300 over there..
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you store all your wealth in BTC? on: December 26, 2013, 08:21:09 PM
I won't make the switch because I just couldn't live without bank accounts and credit cards. I may have a busy lifestyle, but there are things I need that BTC simply can't provide.

How to buy a flight ticket without a credit card?
How to rent a car abroad without a credit card?
How to get paid without a bank account?
How to buy stocks without a bank account?

I still think it's great that some people believe so much in BTC that they choose it as their main currency, but they will have a hell of a life.

You can buy plane tickets, buy (some) stocks and receive payment in BTC.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin changed the world... and its price will crash on: December 26, 2013, 06:40:18 PM

I foresee a collapse of BTC value when the first large financial institutions release cryptocurrencies of their own, which are actually backed by tangible assets like gold or by fiat currencies. Those will not be ideologically appealing to most people who post here, but the business model makes perfect sense. The fear that the public and media have about BTC is that it is an attempt to create wealth out of thin air. Having a trusted bank issue individual coins representing actual assets will allow them to be more valuable than BTC is today, making them more attractive to mine. These bank-backed cryptocurrencies would look to many like the 'best of both worlds': the guaranteed value of a traditional bank note with the transparency and irreversibility of distributed block-chain logs.

The question is whether they'd name it Debtcoin or Derivativecoin?

53  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: My Wallet got hacked and the hacker paid huge transaction fees to take the money on: December 23, 2013, 11:23:09 AM
I currently keep mine in a blockchain.info wallet as it was recommended to me a while back. I would certainly be interested to hear if there is something more desirable though.

Electrum. I could never recommend storing your bitcoins online, sorry.

But the two factor authentication in blockchain.info doesn't make it more secure?
Or even better any local storage that uses the two factor authentication, does it exist?

This has been said hundreds of times, and shall be said again. Blockchain.info does NOT have access to your unencrypted private keys, it's not an online wallet since a thief can't hack their database and steal loads of passwords. The only way you would lose them on Blockchain would be to login while a hacker implemented some malicious javascript, but I still think that's yet to happen..

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have a bitcoin blog or business? on: December 21, 2013, 01:19:55 AM

I doubt any of the "<insert country>bitcoin.com" urls are valid
56  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: TAX of BTC in your country on: December 20, 2013, 10:03:00 PM
It's just capital gains for all I know, but Norway (maybe Sweden as well?) require you to pay VAT when buying/selling
57  Economy / Economics / Re: Winklevoss: Trying to pump before they dump? on: December 19, 2013, 10:00:47 AM
That's preposterious and you know it OP, the Winklevii will of course sell off a portion and collect annual maintenance fee similar to the Exante Fund.
58  Economy / Economics / Re: Difficulty.....It can't keep going up 30% each increase. on: December 19, 2013, 09:54:09 AM
Free electricity?  I would love to see the face of your landlord when he sees the bill from your 2 Neptunes hashing all day Smiley
In Russia "free" electricity is rather common!
BTW, no single industrial-scale miner will ever be able to compete with a nerd keeping his miner in the basement connected to "free" electricity!   Wink Grin

No nerd will be able to keep his machine running 24/7.
No nerd will be able to get the same deal on the price of the miners a huge buyer.

And by that "free" electricity , you mean

But free electricity is somewhat common, I have a handful of friends who pay a 'fixed' electricity price included in rent in Scandinavia..
59  Economy / Economics / Re: Fear will replace greed. on: December 19, 2013, 12:34:29 AM
I don't know where to start with you OP, so I'll just post here for future reference and time will tell.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
