The cops gave him the opportunity to stab them by getting outside their vehicle and placing only themselves in jeopardy (since it looked like the perp moved away from the "civilians", so they wouldn't be in the line of fire.)

Just because you have a knife doesn't mean you have the opportunity to place people inside a fucking knife-proof box in jeopardy. A vehicle travelling 5 MPH in a knife fight is absolutely fair and just.

I see your point but the fact still remain, the guy had a knife in public causing a disturbance. Again, I don't know how this all went down (I'm curious now) but getting out of the car to first try and defuse the situation is a normal response. You suggest using his vehicle would've been a better option, ha! Then the officer would've really been in hot water. think if it this way... What if perp took off toward a crowd with his knife at the ready? There's no way anyone sitting in a car can react in enough time. Consider that officers don't have the entire story when the get on scene. And don't forget you can't predict people's actions.

Pretty sure one of the things were we taught by a police officer was that if a violent criminal posing a deadly threat runs into the path of your deadly weapon (your vehicle), YOU HIT THEM WITH IT.

The cops suicidally escalated the situation.

I'm not saying they didn't escalate the situation, I don't know. I'm not following this case and only read about it on this forum. You said the guy was walking away from the crowd, why would they run him over at that point?

And keep in mind, while it's more justifiable for citizens to use their car as a deadly weapon... Officers are held by a much higher standard given their training (tactical and communication). So you can't put citizens in the same boat as officers. Not the same class. Plus keep in kind, they're trained to use their guns as force, not their cars.

It's unfortunate so many people have such negative things to say about LE. Do I agree with how some situations are handled, hell no! But I know that we need the order. I know there's a shit load if dirty cops too. But for the most part, they do their duty. For every bad incident we see an officer involved in in the news, there's a million and 1 good deeds that go unnoticed. We shouldn't generalize and stereotype the entire population. Not all officers make bad decisions <- that's a character flaw, not a flaw with the system.

Is there an updated list of exchanges like coinbase, that allow for easy transfers to/from US bank accounts?  Looking for something similar to coinbase.

Coinbase isn't an exchange.

Then replace "exchange" with "marketplace."  Same question.

Um no. I knew what you meant, just making it clear for others reading this that CB is not an exchange. There are several vendors, just be careful who you put your trust in. CB is the most trusted, although they have shady practices. They don't down right take your BTC, they do it very sneakily, lol. Anyhow, if you have virwox, they only charge 1% to send to you PP. Of course that requires a high premium to sell your BTC for fiat... But it's an option. They were an exchange for digital currency (linden) before BTC. I buy BTC from them, but have never used their PP service tho.

Evidently some of you think using a gun in a knife fight is unfair. Well, it's not. Vests might stop a bullet but a knife will slide right through, easily. A knife is the same level of force as a gun in LE's position, this is true everywhere in the US. Depending on the state (of course the totality of the situation plays a role), an officer can shoot a suspect from several feet away if they have a knife. In SC it's 30ft... The knife holder does not need to be in the officers reach length; reaction time is a hell of a lot slower than you think.

Keep in mind LE is charged to protect citizens, by any means necessary to eliminate the threat. I don't really know the specifics of this incident, but if the victim here had the ability (the knife) AND an opportunity AND the public or the officer was in immediate jeopardy, he may be justified. Those 3 conditions must be met in order for LE to use deadly force: ability, opportunity, and jeopardy.

So you can't find a message that says his order was not sent for processing on the 7th that is because it was.

I thought this issue would've been over by now  Undecided But this is the reason why this all came about in the first place: lack of communication. You're right, there wasn't a message that the order wasn't sent for processing... There also wasn't a message stating that the order was sent for processing either, but there should have been... Well, it was, but months too late.

Look at this from the buyer's viewpoint... His name wasn't on the list of orders so he wouldn't have known. I understand you have a separate non public list and he wasn't on the public list because he didn't send his shipping address. But Fact is, he requested the refund only days after the order was placed. The rules stated no refunds after order was sent to the manufacturer, but here again, there's no way he would've known that his order was included in that shipment. You didn't advise him of that until this thread. And the only thing we have is your word that his order was in fact included in that bunch. That's something we'd probably never know for sure. But....

Even if his order was included, it shouldn't have taken you several months to tell him that. Had you advised him early on, he probably would've tried to sell the pre-order as others did. But he was robbed of that option because he was led to believe he was getting a refund; why request the verification (which he sent), if it wouldn't be used to refund him? Even after you found his order, you neglected to tell him that he wasn't entitled to a refund.

My point is, the buyer should've been told from the jump that he wasn't going to be refunded. As I stated before... Given the tone of the initial communication and the fact that my name wasn't on the public list (how would I know you maintain a private list), I'd also be under the impression that I'm getting a refund. The rule is no refund after order is placed - I get that.

What I don't get is why the buyer is absorbing all of this loss on his own when he's technically not at fault? IF he were told this months ago, his loss wouldn't be so drastic. You yourself admitted that lack of communication on your part is partially to blame... That said, this entire incident could've been avoided if it were communicated to the buyer the status of his order - but it wasn't. Now OP is left to settle for a lousy .0something refund when he could've gotten something near the couple of BTC he originally made the purchase for. That isn't fair.

Anyway dev, i think the design of the wallet need some make over. Is that changes already in the roadmap?

Right now when i first open the wallet i need to click the next symbol to see the coin recycler tab.

You increase the size or maximize the wallet. All tabs will be visible.

Wait a hoot - My wallet, v1.3.4.0 is just the standard qt... I compiled from github. Do I have the most recent version?

Do u know we have 2 wallets? You said you compiled from https://github.com/saffroncoin/wallet20. That would give you v2.4.3 which is our multi-tasking wallet.
Both v1.3.4 and v2.4.3 are latest in terms of core developments. But v2.4.3 has a ton of features not present in v1.3.4. We kept 2 wallets to let users choose which they like.

Ah! Yes, initially I tried the link i provided you, but it kept failing (I posted that as I was compiling). So I tried the main repository where I was able to compile v1.3.4. I'll be snagging the other one here shortly Tongue  Thanks!

You can try the available wallets for Ubuntu listed on the OP if u wish to give it a try.
To compile v2.* wallets, there are some extra dependencies required because we are the only to make use of webkit technology which enables gui web based content in the wallet. Your "qmake" needs to compiled with webkit. Only then can u compile v2.* successfully.

I still had issues, but it could be due to the version of xubuntu I'm on 12.04. I'll upgrade to latest distro.

This is my serious question.

What if different linux wallet and Window wallet ?

I dont use Linux just window.

So need to know haha.

There isn't a difference. But there are two versions of the wallet; the classic version or the version with all the added features.

Unfortunately I am a civil engineer , but not computer engineer ... I am very limited in regard to computing and coding ... I would say, at the "common user" level.

I am a fast learner though.  Can someone point me to the right direction or provide me a list of stuffs starting from scratch that I need to learn if I would wish to contribute to re-coding the p2pool software?

How do coders come to be?

The source code is in a github repository.

The pull this shit when prices increase. They have a scheme when you sell too; got me for a couple of g's last time. Do a forum search, no one really use them much anymore. At least not those of us who buy in bulk ... Take that back, I don't anymore.

The high risk is always what I got... Never anything about my bank tho. But I think someone posted here a few days ago that WF threatened to close thief account for buying BTC, look into that as well.

It is just very silly to see people jumping over these new "hot" coins where devs ask for money before any piece of crap is released. All these big guys fall for it.
[/quote]

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if the bulk of the ICO fund doesn't actually belong to the devs themselves - to give the appearance they have lots of investors... that's just what fools need to jump on the bandwagon - bait. I just skimmed that one neocoin or whatever. They claimed to have sold out all ICO coins. Sure no doubt they did (just hypes up it even more), but they're the only ones who stand to gain anything if it turns out to be a junk coin... which it prolly is.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SFR] SaffronCoin | Decentralized Market, Exchange, Email on: August 21, 2014, 09:14:48 PM

Don't rag on me... but what the hell are ICO coins? I see it in ANN threads, but I admit I have no clue what it is! lol

Basically it's selling premine before trading even start. At first, scammer make coins with premine and dump once it's launched. Now the premine is dump before it's even trading.

ICO coin reach a new low yesterday with neoscoin. They start trading once the ICO is sold out without even a wallet. Yet those pathetic scammer make 150 btc.

WHAT?! Good lord. I guess if youre quick enough as a trader you'll come out ahead... feel sorry for the buyers left holding those shitcoins tho. So how the hell do they trade without a wallet? I guess the wallet was made available only to the exchange.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain - LAUNCHED! on: August 21, 2014, 09:10:15 PM
MInerpools has me at 991.82 diff with 4.33Mh from the Asics and 221.59 on 1,137.56 from my gpu's miner.
never really thought about it the coins just keep coming, they find lots of blocks to share.
That's whats important.
The miner itself is showing a network diff level of 49

oh and I tried a p2Pool yesterday and it didn't give me as many coins over 24 hours.

24 hours isn't enough time; you should at least give a several days (most say a week, idk)... but in the long run you'll actually make more with P2Pools. But don't take my word, just search this forum.

Any working pool  besides syscoinme?  lifeforce  and  the other one assign  very high diff (100-1k) to my worker (4 MHS)....

http://syscoin.minerpools.com/index.php

been working well for me.
staying on top of the earlier wallet changes too....very little down time

This pool also set  my diff to 700. Am i doing something wrong or waht??

the pools set the diff accordingly to your hashrate, what diff you want ? 1 ? Smiley

huh? That's not true.

chromosoma, find a P2Pool. You'll find blocks quicker and the difficulty is lower.
57  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling Bitcoin For Google Wallet [USA ONLY] on: August 21, 2014, 08:53:46 PM
Just openly saying this so no one else waste their time: OP needs you to send payment first, your reputation does not matter. His reasoning is that google wallet payments can be charged back, btc can't. A few minutes later, I brought up escrow and he stopped responding.

Brand new 1-post account, asking you to send first with no escrow. Come to your own conclusions.
Thank you for looking into this, since I was somewhat interested. Refusing escrow is a troubling sign.

Damn this wanna be scammer! lol

Escrow is a must in my book. And selling at the going rate - I figured it was too good to be true Tongue
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SFR] SaffronCoin | Decentralized Market, Exchange, Email on: August 21, 2014, 08:43:14 PM
Looks like ICO coins are the new trend. People are falling for ICO coins where the devs ask before delivering anything. Coin Devs that have never asked for anything but still deliver more than those ICO coins, are just not taken seriously.

Hey, if u need donation for some brilliant feature i know others will help. You have gain the trust of the community.

I seriously believe that the only problem with the coin is just advertising. We need more PR.

No it is not that. It is just how the trend passes on for altcoins. First the Litecoins, most coins that followed were a clone of litecoin, then DOGE, most coins that followed had max coins of over a billion and huge block rewards. Then the anonymity trend set by Darkcoin.
These were all trends.
Then a few months back coins got ninja launched with short POW for quick buck and had max coins in 1M-5M range. That was another trend.
And now it looks like ICO is the new trend.

ICO suck. Just that people fall for such crap. Other coins that have never asked for anything but have given much more are not getting noticed. It hurts cryptos as a whole. This trend will continue for a couple of months more and then some other crappy trend will start.

Don't forget about the country/state coins... and the animal coins, lol.

But yes, I totally agree - trend. Personally I like the fact this coin is taking some time to get recognized. Gives it an opportunity to establish longevity, an attribute most coins don't aspire to attain. That in itself will put this coin above others. The trust will come when people who aren't in it for a quick buck sees its stability <--- that should be a goal for any coin. The pace of this coin isn't a hurdle, it's a good thing.

Don't rag on me... but what the hell are ICO coins? I see it in ANN threads, but I admit I have no clue what it is! lol
