41  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mailbit.io allows you to easily verify your ownership of a bitcoin wallet on: December 03, 2013, 05:45:02 PM
2. Apply a 'catch all' on the mailserver allowing you to basically email any user on @mailbit.io even if it wasn't created yet. So you can basically send an email to 13bdG3V2yrpnxkugVQ3Xzipmrbu5pmrDbg@mailbit.io with some content and when/if someone will ever register and validate that account he will be able to see the email you sent.
I can see this being exploited into using the site as a mailinator clone.

Yeah but no one can retrieve the info sent to 13bdG3V2yrpnxkugVQ3Xzipmrbu5pmrDbg@mailbit.io other than the owner of this wallet address 13bdG3V2yrpnxkugVQ3Xzipmrbu5pmrDbg.

Mailinator allows anyone to read the content of any email under @mailinator.com

Much like the verification the process of signing a message with your private key provides, mailbit.io allows you to do the same in an easier way.

It creates a mailbox for you under the @mailbit.io domain so you can re-use the address without having to sign it over and over again using the private key.

Let me know if you have any ideas of how to improve this service.

More info here:

https://mailbit.io

The only problem I see is, how can this be done if you use a paper wallet.

You're right that is an issue.

In that case you will have to load it and send the verification coins but I'm guessing people would not want to do that Smiley

I wonder if you guys can make some kind of workaround for that.

Not sure if technically possible.. If you have an idea how let me know since I'm interested in adding some features.

Currently I'm thinking about:

1. Allowing you to choose to either use a password for your mailbox or no password. If you choose to have no password you will have to send 0.001BTC each time you want to use your inbox. Once the session expires you will need to do it again if you want to log in.

45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Some questions regarding the JSON RPC API on: November 24, 2013, 03:06:51 PM
Is there a JSON RPC command I can run to show me either all addresses or only addresses with positive balance in them?

Thanks
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Some questions regarding the JSON RPC API on: November 23, 2013, 07:04:31 PM
This is my bitcoin balance:

Code:
[root@server ~]# bitcoind getbalance
0.08360000

Here is a list of all accounts:
Code:
[root@server ~]# bitcoind listaccounts
{
    "" : -0.01640000,
    "Test" : 0.10000000
}

How is it possible that I a negative value on the default account?

Here is the list of addresses assigned to both default and Test account:

Code:
[root@server ~]# bitcoind getaddressesbyaccount Test
[
    "1GHt68zezGUWxYE3mt3YdBAuJ4Gg1XobEn",
    "1E3tD67MK4b7vAV4TUt7sS773Cyhzojoty"
]
[root@server ~]# bitcoind getaddressesbyaccount ''
[
    "1CepZwcr8enPR2MeXViu6jJmw1b5Duy7cr",
    "19Y9Zr5kFW8eFzq2wpbZwXEtdGX7TpkTpM",
    "1Nx3MF99VS84tzqGfekVuQEYxYRWm9NxSZ"
]

As you saw before I have some balance but checking these five addresses none of them has any balance according to blockchain.info

Now it get's weirder, let's list all addresses:

Code:
[root@server ~]# bitcoind listaddressgroupings

How come I get so many addresses? When I listed all available accounts and their addresses there were 5 listed.
And also, none of the above addresses has any balance in them..
47  Bitcoin / Project Development / btip - an automatic bitcoin tipper for github contributors on: November 17, 2013, 05:30:18 PM
btip is a bitcoin tipping service that allows repository owners to tip contributors automatically.

It integrates to the natural github flow where contributors use forks and pull requests to contribute to other repositories.

Once a pull request is merged and has the correct btip syntax at the end of the commit message, a tip will be sent from the repo admin wallet to the contributor

USE WITH CAUTION

btip is still under development, please run this service on machines with low amounts of BTC

Please feel free to contribute by forking/sending pull requests/creating issues.
