Hmmm.. I wonder if online games, paid by Bitcoins, will be a hit

I'd expect China to do it before Urkain does.

He must have some serious computing power

Yeah, but I don't think every hacker just holds onto their Bitcoins.. they spend them (eventually) and put them back in the system.

So I'm trying to explain the process of mining Bitcoins to my friend, but unfortunately she's too lazy to research and watch the videos I've sent her on how mining actually works. She understands the idea of decentralized digital currency and all the pros that go along with it and how they're used in exchanges, but she doesn't understand the mining aspect of it. I don't mine that hard, so I'll admit I don't even know a LOT about it... but I can't seem to explain to her in general terms what mining Bitcoins is.
Can someone help me out and explain how to tell my friend what mining is?! BTW: She does understand the concept of blocks.

In 2019 Bitcoin will be in economics books.
I could see it! Imagine whole classes and even universities based around the learning and mastering of computing Bitcoins. You could have people specializing in mining Bitcoins, understanding Bitcoins, improving Bitcoins, and even predicting what will happen with them. It's very fascinating.

I assure you it's not with Bitcoins themselves, it's with the people. Either people don't know enough about Bitcoins and are scared off by the terminology and the "geeky" aspect to it, or they just don't feel like getting into something they don't know a whole lot about. I don't blame them!

Greetings! I'm fairly new here as well, but let me just say this: There are some VERY bright and intelligent people on this forum! If you have any questions or need advice, I'm sure someone here would be happy to help!

in 2012 I had a bitcoin address, but I forget the purse number, can I rearrange it? because at that time, I did not keep a backup and not elsewhere wallet my number. please help me. A "purse number" - are you for real? If clubminer is a woman, what's wrong with calling it a digital purse? I call mine my "Bitcoin Chest"

Lol I could see it... Some multi-trillionaire nearly reaches 51% and someone has to stop him

The article doesn't say Bitcoin's popularity is fading. It's talking about Dogecoin.
It only says Dogecoin has more transactions than Bitcoin (102,252 vs 56,169 in 24h) and any other crypto-currency. It also says Dogecoin transactions have far less value than Bitcoin, despite the number of transactions being higher.
^The only one that read the article lol

http://www.coindesk.com/skyhooks-open-source-bitcoin-atm/An opensource project from my home town! this could really change the landscape. only 1.3 BTC at current exchange prices! Ok, it's really only a BTC vending machine because it can't dispense fiat, but it's 1/4 the price of it's cheapest competitor. Go Stumptown! Thats a great deal. I wonder what other expenses come along with having to operate this, as in licenses and such. A shit ton And that's just now, I imagine there will be a lot more licenses and regulations being created in the future when it comes to Bitcoin machines... seeing as how they're not centralized.

Bitcoin Bucket.
as in: "I'm just going up the road to use the bitcoin bucket"
LOL! Sounds pretty catchy... I could see Bitcoin ATM's being referred to as something like a "bucket". BM - Bitcoin Manager

People using the wrong technical terms for things is nothing new... I think when people say "Bitcoin ATM", we all know what they're referring to even though it may not be technically correct.

I don't think they like the idea of non-corrupt (aka: decentralized) anything...
|
|
|
Mainly due to credit card fraud - people claiming misuse of their CC after already getting their BTC, there is nothing the seller can do.
^ Exactly. Bitcoins are virtually impossible to fraud.

What they're experiencing is a slight valley in what will be a very prolonged series of ups and downs. As far as the States go, Bitcoins are increasing in popularity very rapidly.

Am I the only one that actually finds this interesting?
