41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: deleted thread on: May 05, 2014, 07:38:00 PM
See, the problem with such a short mining period is that it is worthwhile for people/groups with the resources to DoS everyone else while throwing everything at this coin until they collect all of the the blocks. Or if you have a big enough farm you don't even need to DoS anyone else, just collect a huge portion of the limited blocks while someone else DoS's for you. So who wants to buy from these jackasses that hold all the cards? Nobody with any intelligence... Therefore coin is worthless right out of the gate.

Is this coin circling the toilet or should I buy a lot more?

I followed the advice here and put my life savings in this coin at 7 and now it's worth very little. I lost my house, my car, and now I have no food. Sad  Don't worry, I will borrow some money to buy more 365 at cheap. Soon it will be at 50 and I will have doge food.

I put worker name:  name.1
and, in one moment my cgminer stops to mine, and writes something like: ...Pool interupt...
and my name become: name.1.1 ?

Is it some kind of attack? ...Hack..? What is going on?

I assume you're using cgminer. It's just a display error from poorly written buggy software.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of premined, fully distributed giveaway, PoS bullshit? on: April 24, 2014, 07:52:26 PM
As far as I can tell this coin is being strip mined which makes it pretty much worthless

I think cryptokk needs to be removed from the list of exchanges because, you know, it doesn't exist.

It is old versions of wallet trying (and failing) to synchronize over and over.

I'm running the latest code from git. ( https://github.com/Max-Coin/maxcoin.git )

Anyone else notice weirdness in the maxcoin daemon?

debug.log is full of:

Endlessly repeating for days now.

The bandwidth usage is insane. It's maxing out my upload bandwidth. This seems suspicious. Huh

Funny how people keep talking about not getting confirmations and even the coinedup exchange commented on it.  Apparently everyone is unaware of BCX's tests... He may actually be getting a result (freezing the block chain for everyone and mining coins at zero difficulty).
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: March 15, 2014, 10:42:39 PM
Anyone mining with a HIS 280X and getting decent rates?

I have an ASUS and HIS 280X in the same machine. The ASUS has default clocks of 1070/1600 while the HIS is default 1050/1500.

If I run vertminer with the default clocks both cards get around 240 kh/s.

If I run vertminer with clock 1000/1500 then the ASUS jumps to 360 kh/s but the HIS card does not change, still stuck at 240 kh/s.  Weird, something to do with it using 1500 as its default mem clock? I don't get it.
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: March 10, 2014, 02:23:59 AM
Probably ASIC-able? SHA-3 way way easier than scrypt. In fact it's pretty much the same as the old bitcoin sha2. Now whether or not anyone thinks it's worthwhile to make a maxcoin sha-3 ASIC... well, probably not at this point.

I wish the alt-coins would just change scrypt slightly and thereby destroy all ASIC's. I mean it's fair if everyone can buy an ASIC but that's never the case.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: March 08, 2014, 01:02:44 AM
Warning to the Maxcoin users: the Wecoin developer is pointing 250GH/s worth of mining power to this coin, and will dump 5k+ Maxcoins per day for the next 5 days.
Prepare for a steep price crash.

The dumpers are dumping 20-50k+ coins a day, sometimes all at once. That guy dumping 5k is nothing and likely won't even move the price much.

Keiser needs get off his keister and get this coin accepted at McDonalds or something if the price is ever going to go up. With that said, if we look at other coins that have had even a little success it takes at least 6 months before anything real happens. Hell, bitcoin took years.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 05, 2014, 04:50:30 AM
Yeah, that's the primary thing holding everything back at this point. The difficultly retargeting is way too long and those big guys just hammer it for a little bit to grab all the low diff coins then they leave and we're stuck for hours at insane difficultly.

Been having good success on the p2pool (crunchpool) myself.

55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why are profits dropping so fast? on: March 03, 2014, 02:16:54 PM
The fact is, a change to any coin's algorithm will make all the ASIC hardware worthless. This could be a selling feature of alt-coins in that they require general purpose and easily available computing devices to mine and are more fair to the general population.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HelixCoin [HXC] SHA3 - TPP LANDS THE VICTORY! - EXCHANGED on: March 02, 2014, 05:02:54 PM
That was an oversimplification, yes

Mind you, Sha3 is different from scrypt and i can confirm that the cpu usage is from the sha3 cgminer and not a wallet with setgenerate turned on.

I couldnt tell you exactly why sha3 uses cpu like it does, but there are no negative impacts observed by the dev team, so we quite like the algorithm

What I'm saying is that I get essentially 0% CPU on the sha-3 cgminer.   If you're seeing high CPU then something is wrong.  Smiley  Are you seeing this issue on Windows or Linux?
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HelixCoin [HXC] SHA3 - TPP LANDS THE VICTORY! - EXCHANGED on: March 02, 2014, 03:29:59 PM
All the data movement shouldn't even be a blip on your CPU usage. I think I get about 0% to 0.7% CPU usage on cgminer on a low-end Celeron.

If you're getting high CPU usage then something is wrong. Make sure "gen=0" is in the helixcoin.conf file.  If you're on Linux make sure it's using the libOpenCL from the fglrx install and not the broken one from the AMD APP SDK (this might apply to Windows also, I have no idea). The broken SDK libopencl causes an irq storm.

I downloaded the lastest source code from github then built in mingw, included cryptopp path and lib in makefile. My makefile:

Is there a libcryptopp.a or libcryptopp.dll(.so) in that path? It might be in a subdirectory or something.

You might only have the static library in which case you should remove the "-l cryptopp" and add the static library to OBJS or something like:
Code:
OBJS= \
    cryptopp/libcryptopp.a \

When i built wallet in windows, i met this line: c:/mingw/bin/../lib/gcc/mingw32/4.8.1/../../../../mingw32/bin/ld.exe: cannot find -lcryptopp

please help me to fix this Sad

You need libcrypto++. I'm not sure what environment you are building in (cygwin, mingw?). If it doesn't have a libcrypto++ package then you may have to build it yourself.

cryptorush is weird... or maybe it's just me, why do they consistently show buy orders higher than sell orders yet no trades are happening?  Seems broken
