41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I bought bitcoin at $20k last year on: September 15, 2018, 12:04:14 AM
I got into the bitcoin again last year after losing all my 4.5 bitcoins to ponzi schemes early last year. I bought in bitcoin again at $20k. Now bitcoin is $6k+.  I'm regretting my actions.  Huh

D:, that's really sad to read. I hope you're doing fine though, the past is done, just try to approach any new investment opportunity with a little bit more clarity as to where the general situation is pointing and whether you'd like to follow suit or not. (talking about last year's bubble, not sure how you could've evaded the ponzi scheme bit)
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People call bitcoin a fraud or ponzi scheme on: September 14, 2018, 02:09:07 PM
Anyone can call it ponzi scheme and fraud but if you think of it, everything worldly is fraud. You buy apple products with thousands of dollars but how much are they really worth? Why would people give out thousands of dollars for a macbook when they can buy a laptop for $300? Is it really worth that much or is it just another ponzi scheme that apple is bringing to the world better gadgets than any other brands? So we're talking about bitcoin now. What are we really paying for when we buy bitcoin? We pay for an online program and the people running the program helping transactions go through, or we call mining. Miners put in so much time and most especially the cost of mining is so much. That is merely the reason why bitcoin will cost much and if incase it will dive too low and will not be enough to pay for miners, then that could be the time bitcoin will die, or not.

They will always say that apple is backed up by a physical product, regardless of its true value. You gotta remember that what gives bitcoin its value is trust, not a physical thing, and that's hard to grasp for many people, specially since so many have been screwed before in ponzi schemes (lack of trust on their side), I'd say bitcoin is a long way away from dying from personal experience, and if the price is too low to pay for miners is because there are too many miners at any given time (look at china operations), at least that's what I think.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is best wallet for long term bitcoin holding? on: September 14, 2018, 02:25:15 AM
What is best wallet for long term bitcoin holding? I want to choose one wallet for bitcoin holding. Which one is best and have no bugs and problems? Which one is worse? Which one is easy to instal and easy to use. Which one you just prefer for long term holding.

Depends on what your goal is and what amount. But a good rule of thumb is any wallet that lets you store your private key (and shows it to you if you request it, optimally under some sort of password for extra security), the best bitcoin wallets will have you download the entire bitcoin blockchain (100gb+), I personally use Electrum, which is basically the same as the aforementioned wallets BUT you don't have to download the entire blockchain which makes it a pretty portable solution.

DO NOT EVER STORE LARGE AMOUNTS OF BITCOINS IN ANY EXCHANGE / ONLINE WALLET, that's a very very bad idea. I don't know why the first poster said that, but please disregard it.

45  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: If you're still in crypto, what's your background? on: September 10, 2018, 04:19:29 PM
Hi,

I'd like to know what most people here do in real life if you're willing to share  Smiley

I used to work in the bitcoin ATM business for a while when I started in crypto up to a few months ago. What about yourself?
46  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Buying failed project resources on: September 09, 2018, 10:39:40 PM
Well people always wonder "where's my million dollar idea", and while yeah it's not very intuitive how to go about it, you might have a good one here! Think of it how the stock market has a way to buy shitty stocks in bulk, there's people that make money even out of that.

But that's just an opinion though, thread carefully.
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence on: September 08, 2018, 10:32:11 PM
I think that artificial intelligence is one of the most promising trends in the development of modern science. Now it is a very important time. It will depend on what will be the artificial intelligence in the future

In a tangentially related topic, it's a good thing to know how machines learn to get an idea what artificial intelligence can be like at least in the very near future. There's a CGP Grey video that talks about this very topic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9OHn5ZF4Uo

With that in mind, you can see that we as a society have big challenges ahead once AI breaks through as actual intelligence. But yeah I'm very excited how AI and the blockchain will interact as time goes on.
48  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I've got $20k to invest. Please recommend! on: September 07, 2018, 11:14:39 PM
Hey folks,

I've finally got around $20k to invest in long-term. No, unfortunately I cannot put this on a bank to get like 10-15% per year, I'd need something way more good.
What would you recommend? Mining? Other crypto?

Investors, please get me some cool ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Marcell

Whatever you do, BE CAREFUL. First of all make sure to invest not more than what you're willing to lose, if you mean it to be long term, swear by it and forget about your portfolio for the time you set not to check. Other than that, good luck!
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't worry, Bitcoin will be fine. on: September 06, 2018, 11:43:57 PM
why does everyone start to panicking when they see the price of Bitcoin dropping so much, in my opinion it is natural that the price of Bitcoin falls because Bitcoin has experienced the same thing as now, so I suggest not to be afraid and panic.

we will see from this graphic :
1. On April 29, 2013 the price of Bitcoin was only $ 135.30

2. and on November 30, 2013 the price of Bitcoin increase high at the price of $ 1,149.14

3. then on January 2, 2014 the price of Bitcoin decreased at a price of $ 773.40 and on December 31, 2016 the price of Bitcoin began to increase again

4. and the price of Bitcoin began to rise high at the price of $ 19,783.30 on the 17th of December 2017

and as we know, now the price of Bitcoin at $ 6,948.46 and this is indeed down very far compared to prices on December 17, 2017, but it has already happened in 2014 where the price of Bitcoin dropped very far and it continues until 2016 and in 2017 finally Bitcoin prices start to increase again (it takes around 3 years to make Bitcoin prices rise). so from that, I'm sure the price of Bitcoin will increase again even though the time needed is not short.

You gotta remember that last year's bull run brought with it a lot of new users, posts like this help ease the mind of those in the unknown, but do not bash the newbies out there, we need them! Tongue
50  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Market Analysis on: September 06, 2018, 10:46:16 PM
We're still not near the point at which we can consider the market to be priced fairly, especially with altcoins being way higher above their main utility value. Crypto prices in general hover always well above their utility value, but the extent we've seen them be valued at this year is just insane.

I like how Bitcoin is conveniently pushing back altcoins to their 2017 lows. I'm pretty sure that a couple more of these price swings will help to shake off even the most delusional *I will never sell* noob "hodlers".

I heard about the struggles that Tether has had, but i haven't followed up on their situation closely, But i did saw some rumors that Bitfinex got $100m from Tether reserve, which made me think that they stabilized their situation.
The $100 million Tether transaction to Bitfinex wasn't a rumor, nor was it Bitfinex "stabilizing" their situation. What's there to stabilize anyway? They can print any amount of Tether at will.

What a nice way to put it, "Bitcoin is pushing back altcoins to their 2017 lows... A couple more of these price swings will helpt to shake off the most delusional *I will never sell* noob "hodlers""

Thought yes there's some value to hodling, I feel it's been waay too romanticized lately specially after last year's bull run. Let's see how the market behaves by the end of this year.

Coño no saben si hay algo así pero en Chile? Un lugar donde se listen los crypto entusiastas de la zona, yo uso bitcoin desde hace unos años y como me gustaría poder pagar directamente en crypto en vez de vender para cambiar.
52  Economy / Economics / Re: How did Crypto help you out? on: September 03, 2018, 01:33:29 AM
This question is especially for those who have been into crypto for a long time. How did cryptocurrency help you, most specifically financially? Did you earn more? Gain more investment? I do have a friend who wants to get into crypto but he does not have a lot of savings in his bank account or any major investment. I told him to save more before getting into crypto because they still have mortgage and car loan to pay. Do you think crypto will help him out to?

So for me it's been quite the ride, I didn't know much about crypto until bitcoin was about $600 each. But ever since it has helped me when I need to pay friends in different countries, it's just easier than going through the bank and however long international transactions take.
53  Economy / Economics / Re: DO NOT SELL! JUST HODL - You've not loss any money if you haven't sold. on: August 31, 2018, 10:23:31 PM
I mean it's all up to preference, investing is a thing of feel, not feelings. Some people are better at feeling when to get in (and when to get out), but yeah eventually bitcoin price always goes up. So hodling is not a bad idea in the long run.
54  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Bull Run!!! on: August 31, 2018, 10:17:03 PM
Crypto will bull run if there are any positive big news, and currently many crypto trader and investor waiting for news of Bitcoin ETF, and if this Bitcoin ETF will aprroved so i can say bull run will start soon. But although denied bull run also will happen can be next year.

But it's not only big news that'll make the price go up, a good infrastructure capable of handling bigger volumes is absolutely necessary. Bitcoin and the crypto industry itself have had quite a ride since it last got media's attention. Hopefully the crypto sphere will be ready for the next bull run. With Lightning Network and all the other improvements and implementations that have been popping up to the crypto industry (like compliant exchanges, regulated alternatives for easier, trustful investing and whatnot), last time we just weren't ready yet.

ETF will be good once approved, for the time being we just have to get ready Smiley

In case you guys missed it!

I know I'm a little late to the party but I saw this. The CEO really seems incredibly well put together and had a informative response to every question. He did avoid anything.
I think it was a great AMA I just wish I saw it live so could have asked some questions myself lol.

There's a telegram group you can join in case you have any questions, you can join with this link: https://t.me/LEXITco/

In principle, a typical trading platform. Judging by the pictures - well-designed. I do not know what tools there are or how they work. But, it will be necessary to look.

They do have their whitepaper up on their website!

58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin end? on: April 13, 2018, 11:19:40 PM
Whether it will die is something I don't know, however, bitcoin has brought so much people into crypto, it's undeniable that it has lead a lot of advances. As to whether it should remain on top, I think that not really. Better cryptocurrencies are already in place. I hope to see the day that bitcoin is displaced by one of its successors that can better represent crypto.
