41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I0Coin: How is it different from bitcoin? on: August 19, 2011, 05:07:18 PM
Right, but what now?

42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IXcoin -- enough is enough! on: August 19, 2011, 05:03:43 PM

PEOPLE LIKE MONEY. BIG FUCKIN SURPRISE.

Yes and all these people here pretending that bitcoin is or every was more than a money making scam are full of it. I mean really an encryption based project that somehow manages not to take wallet security into account in that equation seriously deserves questioning..

I had to comment on this 1.................

Most people who have been unfortunate enough to be "ripped off" can blame themselves..................

It's probably happened to them many other times in life with actual $USD......

What's the old saying about a fool and his money?

BTC Forever!

Yeah, it was fun while it lasted, back to the mothercoin..............
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin forks on: August 17, 2011, 05:54:43 PM
Mined IO Coins all night and traded for the BTC.

Really nice multiples but I think the fun is about to be over after a few more diff increases.

Also, https://i0exchange.bitparking.com

Appears to be offline currently......

47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else excited about difficulty decrease? on: August 16, 2011, 02:22:48 AM
I'm glad it seems to be leveling off finally.  I was worried it would keep going up until it hit 5 million.  As for being excited about an extra 5%... I'd be more excited if the price of bitcoins continues its current trajectory.

Agreed.
48  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First power bill inclusive of 24/7 mining rigs... on: August 16, 2011, 02:15:12 AM

51  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Possibly some more 5830's about to come out at newegg on: August 12, 2011, 05:50:42 PM
Lets be honest if you are investing in bitcoins you shouldn't be looking at the short term price. If you don't think the price will be up in a couple months then stop mining completely your basically wasting your time but if you think the price will go up eventually why not get a head start?
Because it might be cheaper just to buy some bitcoins?
It's safer to invest in hardware so you have a backup if you're wrong. Plus eventually you'll have more bitcoins then you could have if you invested in bitcoins directly. If you argue you can keep selling high buying low thats way more risk then I feel comfortable with.

Agreed.

Also, try to imagine 2-3 years down the road when you own nodes on the network, or "virtual bank branches."

Assuming the project works long term, these will have value.

52  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First power bill inclusive of 24/7 mining rigs... on: August 12, 2011, 05:39:14 PM
Lol @ electric penalty to pay poor people's bills.  California is so messed up.  It's no wonder the state is going bankrupt.

Yeah, the only saving grace is the weed situation  Wink
53  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: First power bill inclusive of 24/7 mining rigs... on: August 12, 2011, 04:44:30 PM
I'll be getting my 1st "True Bill" with a full month of running 8 cores 24/7.

I'm in southern cali where they really like to pull out the rape stick. Shocked My last bill was just north of $400 when it's normally $100 Max.
The kicker is that $120 of the bill is a "penalty" which goes to pay poor peoples electric bills.

This is also with no ac contributing to bill, just fans.

More to come, Peace.

56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enough with the online wallets on: August 06, 2011, 08:03:03 PM
What's next, a rainbow wallet? Even if you keep your bitcoins in the pot o' gold at the end-of-the-rainbow, some little greedy dude will steal it. Secure your wallets with encryption and make multiple backups. 'Nuff said, mkay?

Agreed. Tired of hearing about all the idiots who loose their coin.....

What if every time, someone in the world lost their Fiat cash we had to hear them whimper and bitch?
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here we go again ...now its Instawallet.org ? on: August 06, 2011, 07:12:13 PM
Panic at the Bitcoin Disco!
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BTC in the toilet right now? on: August 06, 2011, 07:09:40 PM
Just curious... stopped paying attention for a week, and now all of a sudden we're at 8 bucks.

most likely all of the stolen bitcoins from mybitcoin are being laundered and converted to cash.

Agreed, there's a direct correlation every time there is a heist of coins.

Regular equity markets should have no effect; people are selling their coins now so that they can get "something" for them
instead of letting them go to 0.

CLASSIC PANIC SELLING

Bitcoin will more than likely rebound until the next scam hits.
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: Jesus, Doomsday already??? Watch Mt Gox on: August 06, 2011, 07:04:21 PM
As I keep saying, this is the long, slow slide after a bubble popped.

$/BTC, Mt. Gox, last 6 months.

That is an absolutely classic speculative bubble. And when bubbles pop, they pop all the way.  Because there is no intrinsic value to Bitcoins (unlike, say, houses), "all the way" means down to zero.

I Laugh at this analysis.

60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Take $1 Billion a Year as Banks Blame Clients for Crime on: August 06, 2011, 02:58:10 AM
I bank at one of the biggest crony firms, my acct has been jacked 2 times in 6 months and I'm a small fish.

I was talking with my neighbor about going to a smaller credit union down the street and he says he banks there already and has been jack about
2 times in the past 6-8 months as well.

I think the big banks have 0 desire to stop electronic fraud (debit cards, blink chips etc.) because there's to much money being made in the
"prevention" of it. I would also dare venture say the Crony banks own these firms.

It's just like the "War on Drugs" and the "War on Terror."

All a big joke.....................
