41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] Released Faircoin Android Wallet. Beta version. on: April 06, 2015, 05:55:04 PM
Testing out Bitbill payment system.
In basics everything works. Except that I think that the amount contains too many fraction digits and therefor the payment link / QR code didn't work.. I had to do the payment 'manually'... Already contacted support Smiley

Now waiting for the payment magic to happen the next workday Wink

how many faircoin are there?

See the frontpage of this topic, but in short:

FairCoin's Specifications:

- POW/POS Hybrid
- 50,000,000 premined coins distributed through the airdrop on March 6th and 8th 2014
- Flat 6%/year minting reward, halving every year until reaching the baseline of 1.5%
- 21/90 days Min/Max Weight
- 3.3 Minutes Block Target
- DarkGravityWaveV3 Difficulty Retarget
- 0.001 Coin Mining Reward

Right now we're at approx 51 million. See https://chain.fair-coin.org/chain/FairCoin for the exact number.
We're at the second year that this coins exists, so the minting reward is now at 3%.

Hello all!

Due the devaluation of Euro, the growing of bitcoin and the consolidation of the range 2100 – 2400 satoshis, between faircoin and bitcoin in bittrex. we have moved the price in getfaircoin.net from 1 € = 165 FAIR to 1€ = 150 FAIR

have a nice week!

I read 'devastation of Euro' instead of 'devaluation of Euro' Wink
Might have something to do with ECB creating money out of thin air and banks starting to put negative interest rates on peoples savings while still making bigtime money on mortgage loans...

i'm trying to run rpi wallet but i'm experiencing some problems:

my raspberry is the old one (armv6l with 512mb of ram ) i'm on a fresh installed 2015-02-16-raspbian-wheezy with all updates.

at the first start of ./FairCoin-qt i received various missing dipendency warnings, i resolved with:

apt-get install libboost1.50-all libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev

after this finally the wallet starts...

but is just a gray square with no fields and buttons, so for now i can't take a usefull screenshot, the terminal report a bunch of Error:BadDrawable probably because i'm connected to the desktop via VNC seems to be a common problem.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=78672

the solution didn't work but the node is up.

so the quest for an HDMI cable can begins  Grin

I think you should try with the daemon and see what happens

I'm running the daemon here and probably overdid it on the apt-get, but what I installed was:

libboost1.50-dev libboost-filesystem1.50-dev libboost-system1.50-dev libboost-program-options1.50-dev libboost-thread1.50-dev libssl-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev qt4-qmake libqt4-dev qrencode

What I noticed however is that I couldn't daemonize the FairCoind app using ssh - it worked perfectly from the pi's own terminal. So I'll have to add it to the pi startup at some point Wink

I tried to download the BETA Raspberry Pi release, unfortunately it gave me a 404 Not Found on:
https://chain.fair-coin.org/download/faircoin-rpi-sha256-beta.tar.bz2
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] NEXT 1.5 FairCoin Wallet Release: CALL FOR TESTERS on: February 14, 2015, 03:20:51 PM
W/o quoting everyone above; you think that recovering lost coins will be terrible for the credibility of FairCoin and what it stands for.
I understand your concerns and I will take them up with Enric and Tom.

I would like to have  your opinion about switching to SHA256 and how that would make FairCoin more compatible with BitCoin.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] NEXT 1.5 FairCoin Wallet Release: CALL FOR TESTERS on: February 13, 2015, 10:24:10 AM
The first wallet gave a virus warning when scanned through virustotal.com

Because of this I only ran the wallet on a virtual machine to collect my coins and never used it again. Others may never have staked for this reason. It's a lot of hassle to import the key from my virtual machine to a newer version of the wallet on a real computer, so I never got round to it. Will there be a time limit after which even proving ownership of a key is not enough to maintain ownership?

If you want to retain that address and do not want to copy the wallet.dat from an old virtual image because of what you mentioned above, it is really easy:
- Start the FairCoin wallets on both machines
- On the old machine:
-- Help -> Debug window
-- type 'listaddressgroupings' which will show you your address (or locate them on the Minting tab with a newer wallet).
-- type 'dumpprivkey {thatAddress}'
-- Copy the output
- On the new machine:
-- Help -> Debug window
-- type 'importprivkey ${output}'
Tada! Your coins are there Smiley

Alternatively you could upgrade the wallet and let the blockchain sync on the old machine and simply transfer funds through the FairCoin Network.

Ps. This also works if you want to beta-test the new wallet with the fake network and do not want to copy the wallet.dat. Just be sure you're really running the beta wallet before sending coins into oblivion.

+1, the other combinations just don't match...

It makes me wonder what would happpen if you break the frame with the logo (having the logo become part of the frame, by increasing the coin size and/or decreasing the frame size...)
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] Second Faircoop bulletin and Getfaircoin.net launch on: January 23, 2015, 02:32:58 PM
A thought just came to mind. FairSaving should be as easy as transfering money from one bank account to another.  There should be a bank account that you can deposit to with your FairCoin address in the reference which should automatically buy up FairCoin on the market and deposit it into your online or offline FairCoin wallet.

This way people can enter a reoccuring monthly transfer to the FairSavings account. Their savings will grow without the hassle.

It could also work the other way around where you register a FairCoin address with a target bankaccount.
If you deposit to that address it will auto sell Fair and transfer the money to your bank account.

Meanwhile the price of #bitcoin has moved around 25% up or down the last 24 hours, in getfaircoin is the same 1 EUR = 200 FAIR #faircoin
https://twitter.com/smartactions/status/555745449517531136

Good data to analysis  Wink

If faircoin can show that it is not as volatile as "normal" cryptos with a healthy value increase even the last speculators will lose interest in speculating with it. Getfaircoin is pretty cool to have a reference price and an anchor in the hands of faircoop so its less vulnerable to the 'sell high buy low game' and individual profit maximazation like it goes on with bitcoin Smiley

This makes me wonder what other mechanism are available to stabilize the coin's value even more. Say that we have a number of dedicated traders who 'buy low sell high' and donate their earnings to a BTC fund which will buy up any FAIR that goes below a certain threshold. Would that work?
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] Important statement related to mintpal faircoins and next steps on: January 14, 2015, 06:12:52 PM
This is faircoins bought in bittrex, and sent to another account for selling in  getfaircoin.net orders

https://chain.fair-coin.org/tx/58be36759d33413aa07b554ca30d1fedfcb1573c4800fdf7923ef0bc7306d457

At this moment our price in getfaircoin (1 € --> 200 faircoin) is around 0,00003000  BTC (yesterday was 2700)  therefore everytime that we receive funds from getfaircoin users we are going to buy up until this amount at least.    Cheesy

this is faircoin disconnecting from bitcoin...  Wink

Together with the FairSavings program https://www.coopfunding.net/en/campaigns/fair-coop-the-earth-cooperative-for-a-fair-economy/ this will bring growth to FairCoin Smiley

@Enric; a picture on the coopfunding.net faircoin campaign needs a fix Smiley

Also send an email to the Bittrex supportdesk regarding the faulty message:
Quote
Last week we encountered this warning on your exchange for the currencypair FAIR/BTC at https://www.bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-FAIR:"This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on January 16th unless the average daily trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.2 BTC."

We believe this is in error:
- FairCoin payed 3 BTC to get listed on Bittrex in the first place.
- Since the listing on Bittrex we've had a fair volume.
- In the last week the volume was more than 2 BTC
- The week before that around 1,2 BTC.
- In the month that FairCoin is now on your exchange, we've pushed more then 13 BTC on volume around. That averages on 3,32 BTC a week.

Given the points above, I believe there is much interest in FairCoin and the trading volume is more then adequate given that the whole community tipped in.

Therefor I'd like to ask you to remove this warning as soon as possible.

Wow, how bad, bitcoin is  going.. moment to disconnect faircoin from it?  Wink

And i think it will keep dropping slowly, Faircoin will for sure overtake it with time Smiley

zomg bitcoin down to 200 euro. Time to 'get FairCoin' instead of get bitcoin Tongue

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FAIR] Important statement related to mintpal faircoins and next steps on: January 10, 2015, 02:44:23 PM
Hello, would be great people helping in to create volume in bittrex.

The next one is a big week of news and promotion for faircoin and faircoop and i want this "market could be delisted" out of there as soon as possible  Wink
i wrote already to bittrex, because is not fair this advice one month laater after paying 3 BTC, but anyway you could help

anyway, funny people selling at this price before what is coming  Grin

But the volume has been at least 0.2btc everyday since the start.

The quick average I did this morning was 0.198 BTC a day for the last week.. Go figure that Tongue
Since then the volume is up again. No clue why that message won't go away.. Not to mention we paid 3 frickin' BTC to get it listed.
Maybe we'd have to open up a support ticket or two?

We search someone that can develop this:

Simple Payment processor for Fairmarket, an online marketplace for goods and services related the fair economy and that will use faircoin, as a currency for the payments.

Basically is needed to do with the payment processor is that

– Creates a new faircoin adress and show to the client the amount to pay
in faircoin (translating from the price in euros or dollars, perhaps
with a change that will be disponible in our site)
– Keep pending until detects that the payment is done. When done, notice
to the checkout that the payment is completed.

The source api to create this will be the RFC protocol of the standard Faircoin wallet, that is a fork of the standard Bitcoin wallet

And the application for Fairmarket will be wezer.org a distribution from Odoo.com for cooperatives and communities.  Wezer and Odoo are developed in python

Requeriment. experience developing in python, some knowledge of cryptocurrencies, and affinity with the FairCoop goals. and especially time enough to focus in this project the next 30 days in order to setup the payment processor in february.

Fairmarket is a project of FairCoop
Fair.coop is an open global cooperative, self-organized via the Internet and remaining outside nation-state control.
Its aim is to make the transition to a new world by reducing the economic and social inequalities among human beings as much as possible, and at the same time gradually contribute to a new global wealth, accessible to all humankind as commons.

Faircoop have different projects that will need python developers in the future, therefore this could be seen as a first collaboration that could go further in the futue.

Contact: coop  at   fair.coop

Enric, have you seen the messages in the FairCoin Support box?
We've got an email from a developer who got triggered by the P2P foundation, has 12+ years of experience with coding and want to make this project a success Smiley

I've CC'ed Thomas in my reply to him for more info and I'm kinda surprised that no one followed up yet on his email back...

new tweet: https://twitter.com/EnricDuranG/status/544870764470874112

Following the Robin hood coop annual meeting http://robinhoodcoop.org/posts/annual-member-meeting-2014 … i have been new member paying in #faircoin @RobinHoodMAM @Fair_Coop

We are building a partnership with Robin Hood Coop to work together in disruptive ways of funding the commons   Wink

For those not eager enough to visit the page about the Robin Hood Coop, here's a small introduction:

Quote
What is Robin Hood Asset Management Cooperative?
After the economic collapse there seems to be nothing that holds Europe together anymore -- except our opportunism, cynicism and indifference, which seems to have become the means of our survival. Or like the president of Finland (Sauli Niinistö) defined an old concept anew during his election campaign in the beginning of this year:
Quote
“Solidarity means that everybody takes care of his own business and does not let himself to be supported by others or leave problems of his existence to others.”

Robin Hood is a figure of this new solidarity. We are no rise of outcasts; there are no promises here for a better world in the future, to be ruled by the “good”. Robin Hood emerges from our depressing now, the lack of hope, and from the fact that we have only the precarious present to share. How can something new emerge when the possibilties at our disposal are exhausted? Robin Hood is a real experiment in this.

Quote
Robin Hood is a counter investment cooperative of the precariat. Our business is minor asset management.
The cooperative was established in 2012 based on a detailed analysis and understanding of the imitative nature of the financial market, to challenge the big banks and their elite asset management business.
