41  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stimulus plus halving could cause the real crypto bull on: April 07, 2020, 01:54:37 AM
I was thinking of something sort of similar. I don't need the money so was thinking of just putting it away in some stocks and let it ride. I could see people that have knowledge of bitcoin thinking about the halvong and rather put the money in bitcoin. Overall I think there would be a little rise. I don't think a major one though.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: The pandemic outcome on: April 07, 2020, 01:51:49 AM
I think instead of saying no completely to loans to not take to many. It's very easy to say not to take them, but if there is zero money in your bank account you may feel you have to. The most important thing to do is to do it smart and don't take them if you don't need to. If you do have to take as few as you can and shop around for the best interest rate.
43  Economy / Economics / Re: We need a economic revolution right now . on: April 07, 2020, 01:48:43 AM
I think it's going to be an intresting few months. I'm highly curious to see if when stay at home orders are lifted if the unemployment rate will lower close to what it was before or if the rate will remain high above 15%.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining for a newbie on: April 06, 2020, 04:26:40 AM
Go to,

https://whattomine.com/

Put in $0.065 as your electricity costs, select RX 570 as your main GPU. Currently with your power costs it nets a dime a day after electricity.

The RX 570 8GB is probably your best bet since your budget is small. You can get them second hand on eBay or Craiglist for like $100. So get 6 of them for $600, add a $200 PSU, add a motherboard+ram+cpu+ssd for $200 and maybe $10 for some wood and screws for your wooden openair case and you are at $1010. So you can build maybe 2 of these rigs for $2K.

So $0.10X12GPUs= $1.20 net profit per day.

Will take almost 2000 days to ROI, or maybe 1000 days if you resell this equipment in the future. Its your decision if its worth it.
That's assuming also that they have a low power cost of 6.5 cents per kWh. I live where wind power is very common and it's still almost 9 cents per kWh. In the close city, it's about 10 cents per kWh. Most likely op will make nothing. I get it was theoretical but something for everyone to understand. Also the 2k days for ROI I get your point of not being reasonable. Miners should think of future value.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. What would you recommend as some good fans? I am thinking of these, perhaps 2? I am not very sure if they will push enough air but noticed everyone says they are dead silent. Thanks.

47  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bet online it's OK I get my money after a week of waiting on: April 03, 2020, 02:33:11 AM
I'll add this in case anyone was wondering. So I got a promo for $50 free credit with a certain rollover. Turns out I got to $300 and reached the rollover. I tried a withdrawal and it got declined. I asked customer service through chat and they said I had to call to "verify my account" I say that in quotes because to me it feels weird to have to verify my address/email/amount of withdrawal/phone number etc. Some of you might think that's good. I just found it as trying to delay the withdraw. I then called them and they accused me of a fake number as I didn't pick up from the unavailable number that called my phone. They then told me to retry the withdraw and it would go through. I proceeded to retry the withdraw and got another unavailable call. This time I answered. They asked for someone that used to have the phone number. (I know this because I still get texts for that person's name haha.) They asked why I didn't pick up. I told them. They asked me to verify everything again then released the funds. Take it as positive or as negative as you may. I got the withdraw but took about a day back and forth of this.

So a couple of questions for everyone here before I try... I am thinking of purchasing the gekkoscience hub science I plan on running four miners. First is this the best price for money or does someone have another hub to recommend that would be cheaper since I do not plan on adding more than 4. Second, if I purchase a gekkoscience hub would I be able to use my old BFL 12 V 10 A power supply? I'm a little afraid of adding the extra amperage unless someone assures me it's ok to do as I don't know the protections in the gekkoscience hub. Thanks, everyone!
Also if anyone is looking to sell a miner or a hub PM me.
49  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit – The original crash game on: April 02, 2020, 10:30:51 PM
Has there been a spike in the number of bets being placed since the coronavirus outbreak? How has it affected the number of users signing up and the number of bets being placed at Bustabit?

I honestly wouldn't expect a spike from the Corona crisis. The beneficiaries of the "offline" casino closure are primarily large, well-known casinos that also offer their games online. I tend to assume less that a classic player who is currently no longer allowed to go to the casinos suddenly starts to play on crypto sites. I think that the necessary learning effort is too high, for example:
- How do I get Cryptos
- Which casinos support crypto payments at all
- Why don't I need a KYC here
- ...
In addition, the games are often different, for example, crash games in offline casinos are only a marginal phenomenon.

But of course it would be great if @devans proves my assumptions as wrong Grin
I think increase in numbers could happen not because people who play offline regular casino games start to play online, I believe it could happen because online players are now at home and have nothing to do. Normally you have gamblers here, people who gamble on bustabit, but not all of them gamble all together at the same time, they all play on different time zones plus many of them give a break time to time as well, they don't gamble every single day.

So, what I assume might happen during this pandemic is those people all actually coming back to gamble and that might result with more people gambling. Not that they are forced to gamble, they can still do something else if they want to, but I just feel like many of them may opt to gamble instead and that could raise the numbers.
Also many people now utilize things like fanduel casino or their local casino for online betting if their state has it legal. I doubt many people would learn about bustabit.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why should we go here instead of bustabit with a proven record and large bank roll? It seems the max profit on your game is only .05 btc.
54  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we agree BTC is not a store of value? on: March 21, 2020, 12:40:06 AM
A 30-35% crash, like the 1987 crash, could easily be enough.
We've already seen a 30% crash in the markets. A month ago, NASDAQ was at 9,800. Today it's at 6,900. Dow Jones from 29,300 to 20,200. Most foreign markets - FTSE, CAC, DAX, etc - are showing similar 30% drops. This is even with the Fed announcing another $700 billion of QE and cutting interest rates twice to zero percent. And even now, we've haven't even begun a proper quarantine, and the suggestions coming from the WHO and top medical/scientific advisors is that this could last for months. Governments around the world are already starting to bail out airlines and other travel companies after only a week or so. I hope you're right, mostly for the sake of all the people who are going to be out of jobs and struggling to get by, but I fear this is just getting started.
I believe this is just starting as well, many people are not going to be able to stay in their homes for weeks since they do not have the money to do so, but even if they want to work there will be no way to earn more money as many business will not hire anyone when most people are remaining in their homes, so most likely the rate of spread of the virus will go down for now but it will probably accelerate again as people try to continue with their lives making the economic crisis even worse.
This may be off-topic, but one major thing that I don't understand is how self quarantining in our houses helps defeat the virus as international travel and life will continue to go on. Is it just to slow down the curve of people getting the virus so that it will progress at a slower rate? I am self quarantining, but don't fully understand it haha.
55  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you stop gambling in a time of crisis? on: March 21, 2020, 12:24:47 AM
It depends on the person if they are really addicted to gambling even in a crisis situation they can still use the money provided for their daily needs. I know many people that they work for gambling and that they do not care about their families and that their lives will eventually be ruined and gambling addicts should avoid it.

That's the very reason why we need to avoid being gambling addict when your very own family is already suffering from it. I think on my end, it is ok be a gambler as long as you are not affecting other people's lives and you still know yourself. But if others are at stake other than your life, I believe this is the time that you need to re-assess your situation. If you still need to follow your gambling impulses or your family's future?
I agree, I see nothing wrong with having enjoyment from gambling as long as someone knows the risks. The problem is someone that can't control themselves. I think if momeybis an issue during this time then people should stop, but if nothing has changed for someone and they enjoy it then it is not wrong to continue.
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin has an identity crisis now? on: March 21, 2020, 12:19:14 AM
This is a very difficult period for the world, most likely there will be a global recession, I don't think there is any problem with bitcoin but if world finance suffers, unfortunately, bitcoin also suffers a lot about this situation.
This is what I believe as well. I don't think its necessarily a bitclin issue, but right now a world issue. I don't think bitcoin is mainstream enough for people to choose to put their money in rkght now compared to things like fiat. Especially during a recession.

Unfortunately, it is a very dangerous and unexpected situation for global finance and we are still at the beginning, therefore, everything is very uncertain for the moment. If the
big financial market should recover in the future I am sure that bitcoin will resume its race otherwise I see it very hard at the moment that the cryptocurrency market can recover fast. The situation is much more serious than what people think in this forum
I also don't think everyone should hope for a financial crisis in hopes of the price of bitcoin going up. I'd like to see the price rise, but not at the expense of normal people not knowing about it or their currency being worthless.
57  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump vs Germany in a bid to acquire vaccines for US only. on: March 20, 2020, 11:49:37 PM
Honestly, this just seems all speculation with no proof and highly subjective. It is just as easy to say that Trump planned on buying it so that he could distribute it around the world. Both claims have no proof. I'm sure trump planned on wanting it for US citizens, but we can't argue that it's a certain argument.

Oh yeah 100%. I'm just saying the way that I believe all of this went down, and the writer of the article has a wholee other store. Neither one of us have any sort of info on what actually happened here. We're literally all just shooting the shit about what we think (based on our opinion of the people).

This isn't being expanded upon though in the media, so I doubt we're ever going to be able to find out what was actually true.
I agree, I just don't like judging when there is only speculation. I don't mind shooting the shit, but I just like to think at the end of the day that people realize we don't know for sure haha.
58  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Is spotify premium upgrade something that people will buy? on: March 20, 2020, 11:46:54 PM
Personally i wont buy a premium account in spotify cause there are tons of other sources to listen in music and it's free. But some people here would definitely buy it especially those people who loves music, if you charge less i have coworkers whose willing to pay that is average of $15 per month family plan.

I think another big thing for people is how the upgrade is obtained. If they have a chance to get downgraded or if it was obtained illegally I think alot of the people would not be interested.
59  Other / Meta / Re: The quality of this forum has gone down significantly on: March 20, 2020, 11:44:01 PM
Just wanted to share this. Came back from a break, now it's full of rubbish threads by "legendaries" whored accounts that discuss rubbish, looks like one of the fake forum on forumwarz. WTF.
I think this is true in the digital goods market place. I remember when I joined it wasn't so bad, but now it just seems to be hacked accounts and such without actual solid things for sale.
60  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-19] Bitcoin Rallies as Fiat Currencies Drop Against the U.S. Dollar on: March 20, 2020, 11:42:10 PM
The halving is coming. Hopefully 6-8 weeks before that things start looking up for virus related news and the combination could be tremendous. The virus fight is key though.
I agree, I think we need good virus news and global economy news to get the price of bitcoin to be right when the halving comes. It is noce to see a increase in bitcoin trading, but the price also took a hit before that.
