41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A forgotten message from Satoshi Nakamoto on: June 12, 2018, 03:11:38 PM
Well that has always been the most controversial side of bitcoin. Anonymosity. That's why government are making their way in by regulating bitcoin. This is their way to cut crimes such as drugs and terrorism funding and money laundering. But behind this regulation lies the fact that removing anonymosity would probably help government to tax bitcoin holders, something that not many investors are happy at.

And why exactly your last sentence is a bad thing? Because you can't run the country, without collecting taxes. It would make taxation system more transparent, because those who try to evade taxes, would have a harder time to do that.
42  Other / Meta / Re: The Newbie/spammers problem. Solution anyone? on: June 11, 2018, 09:20:55 PM
OP I had the exact same thoughts when I joined the forum, almost all threads flooded with shitposts, nobody reading other people answers, or trying to discuss something, everybody just spamming almost the same answers. I had thoughts about creating a similar thread but I just can't express my thoughts as good as you in English.

KYC is definitely is not a solution here.

As other members mentioned similar solutions, but I think this would be pretty effective.
Newbies can't post on any board on the forum except new Newbies board, Announcements (Altcoins), and on Bounties threads.
Users should be promoted to Jr. Member when you reach 5 Merit, and then you can unlock all forum, and post everywhere except in boards where is higher rank requirements.

So most of the spammers will be locked, in those 3 boards, and could spam all day long, without earning any Merits. You just couldn't spam your way out of these 3 boards, so after some time, I think they just lose hope, and leave or will start to create meaningful threads or participate in discussions.

Just my two cents.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Whales are playing a dangerous game on: June 09, 2018, 11:22:41 AM
The Whales could possibly destroy BTC!

BTC Whales control one third of BTC

The Good news is the SEC are investigating Whales for market manipulation.

If the Justice department can link a whale to a futures position that was say SHORT and then find out the Whale dumped a mother load of BTC on the market it will be jail time for those involved.

The SEC are watching these Whales so they would want to be careful!

In my opinion the whales are running scared and that is why the market is in the doldrums.

ETH whales are also being watched carefully!

https://steemit.com/crypto/@greenlife500eu/bitcoin-whales-and-how-they-control-the-market

So if I'm one of the whales and I wanted to dump all of my BTC due to some financial reasons so I'll be imprisoned for withdrawing my very own investment? That sounds ridiculous though. I know it sounds unfair cos the value of btc will be affected for such actions but no one can dictate you what to do with all of your investments. I really don't know why they find it illegal, its just a strategy done in a timely manner.

I hope you do understand that just selling your coins is totally legal, what is illegal is market manipulation when you artificially inflating or deflating the price of a security, coin or whatever, basically misleading market for your personal gains.
44  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin forum rankings on: June 09, 2018, 10:47:11 AM
You need 250 merit, to be promoted to Sr. Member.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Whales are playing a dangerous game on: June 09, 2018, 10:25:03 AM
I don't know that this is really happening lol. Stockmarket manipulation is really not illegal in my opinion tho we hate the idea because it sounds really unfair. But that is just how the crypto stocks really works. Tho i am not sure if they can really put them in jail
Stockmarket manipulation is highly illegal, and you can get so many years in jail for that.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON (TRX) is better than ETH? You must be kidding me! on: June 09, 2018, 09:39:09 AM
Haha tron is well known in here just because of pump and dumps, and Justin has already sold almost all his tokens before for more than $0,20 during the last few months.. so this guy is a shame.

I don't own any Tron, and don't have any interest in it. But do you have any proof that he sold "almost" all of his coins?
47  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Adding anti-theft feature to Bitcoin using a new address type on: June 09, 2018, 09:15:22 AM
I like this idea, these addresses could be very useful for cold storage and other types of saving wallet, you can even run a script that checks new blocks for unauthorized transactions made from your R-address and if it finds one, it can automatically broadcast a signed counter-transaction. This can even be outsourced to some online service.

this is completely against one of the main Principles of Bitcoin, irreversible transactions
Quote
All changes and upgrades to the protocol should strive to maintain and reinforce these Principles of Bitcoin
---snip---
  • Irreversible Transactions: Confirmed blocks should be set in stone. Blockchain History should be immutable.

But this is a new address type, no one talks about making all transactions like that. We already have RBF and no one has problems with that, because it's pretty clear what type of transaction you receive.
Wallets would just need to make it very clear that the received transaction is not final until 100 blocks and can be reversed, to avoid malicious people from taking advantage of newbies, like it happens with all those "double your coins" scams.

How R-Address works? you have a single wallet and two addresses on that wallet, and you can choose with which one you want to send coins with, or that works like two wallets, and you can send coins between normal address and R-address?

Delaying the inevitable will not solve the problem, we must find other ways to stop these thefts. We have seen the disadvantages linked to Chargebacks and how scammers are using that to scam people. So it did not work with the fiat system, because it has disadvantages and advantages.

Flagging stolen coins through a consensus decision or voting system, might work if you can make sure that it cannot be exploited. <Flagging legit coins> Once the coins are tainted, merchants might not be willing to accept it as payment for their goods. <But uneducated merchants will be fooled to accept it>  Angry

How exactly flagging works? Everybody agrees that coins in that wallet are stolen, and all transactions from that wallet, will be dismissed on blockchain?
48  Other / Meta / Re: Watchlist shows posts which are not on my watchlist on: June 08, 2018, 05:41:09 PM
So I monitored my watchlist all day and looks like when you add a board to watchlist from the date when you added it, all threads from that board are automatically marked as to Watch, and when you remove the board, all threads to date are marked as Watch, and you have to remove them manually.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: As hackers and scammers attack the projects on: June 08, 2018, 03:46:36 PM
Security of your clients are important at this level.

You must take all necessary measure to avoid any lost and put your efforts in the security of your project.
now customers are not in danger because the personal account is protected and the platform itself, hackers are trying to work by sending everyone emails on our behalf with a link to a fake website
Question is how they got, your project users emails?
50  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain as a solution to inequality? on: June 08, 2018, 11:19:35 AM
We have to admit there is no solution to solve inequality, at least not right now, it's just how the world works. Smart people earn more, not so smart earn less, and that's totally fine for me.

That article is just to promote theirs ICO, they pointed some other projects, which doesn't solve inequality at all, at least I don't see how exactly that solves inequality, and I don't even see how Pool of Stake solves inequality problem.
51  Other / Meta / Re: Watchlist shows posts which are not on my watchlist on: June 07, 2018, 08:52:19 PM
I'm specifically talking about Announcements (Altcoins) 159. This board is not on my watchlist, but from time to time I keep seeing threads from that board, in my watchlist. Is it a bug, or is it promotional posts?

You've probably commented on them for them to appear in your watchlist?

So I went through some of those threads from my watchlist, to make sure, and I didn't commented on any of those threads(Made comment in a single thread, and only because I found it on my watchlist).

There is no such thing as "promotional posts".

Go to the Watch board and see if the Announcements board is there. If it is, type the id (159) in the textbox and press "Unwatch board".

Just guessing about "promotional posts" Cheesy

That board was on my watchlist, but like a week ago I removed it.

So I'm digging deeper, for example, this thread "[ANN][ICO]Westrend Coin: The Blockchain based Real Estate Investment Platform" posted Today at 10:22:21, and it's somehow marked to watch that thread, and I'm pretty sure I didn't press to watch that thread, because all that section is a shitshow.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]batmantoken:WE ARE REINVGORATING THE COMMERCE INDUSTRY on: June 07, 2018, 08:30:41 PM
If we'll invest in this ICO, can we get as rewards Batman and Robin costumes? For example, if you invest more than 100k$ you get Batman costume if less you get Robin costume, what do you guys think?

54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: How should you use Yobit API? on: June 07, 2018, 01:36:59 PM
Maybe I didn't understand your question. But you already making a single call to API endpoint to receive all pairs which you asking. Why are you dividing asked pairs from all available pairs?
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to send ERC-20 tokens to MyEtherWallet? on: June 06, 2018, 09:47:43 PM
Yeah, you should send it to your ETH wallet address.
In the right sidebar, there is block called Token balances, press Show all tokens, and check if your token is there if not you have to add it manually to your wallet.
To add your token manually in right sidebar there is link called Tokens(Ethplorer.io) press it, you'll see your wallet transfers, and token balances, press on transfer Tx if I remember correctly and in next window copy Contract address. Now in MyEtherWallet press Add custom token, use copied Contract address as Token Contract Address, your token symbol, and token decimals, and voila you'll see your tokens in your wallet.
56  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi API returns error: Invalid time format on: June 06, 2018, 06:51:03 PM
Which language are you making API requests? I'm digging deeper and looks like, Timestamp should be current request time, so you must generate timestamp on request. Have you looked at their REST API Demos? Here is url https://github.com/huobiapi/REST-API-demos
57  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi API returns error: Invalid time format on: June 06, 2018, 04:55:35 PM
I'm just making a blind guess, but I think you don't include Time zone in your Date format, you just passing current date without time zone, which they mentioned in documentation, that you need to include it.

There is js snippet to encode this string: encodeURIComponent("2018-05-04T12:10:36+UTC TIME ZONE"); or encodeURIComponent("2018-05-04T12:10:36+00:00"); which results in something like this 2018-05-04T12%3A10%3A36%2B00%3A00

Thank you. It's a good point. I tried to include my UTC zone (UTC-5) this ways:

2018-05-04T12%3A10%3A36%2B-5%3A00
and
2018-05-04T12%3A10%3A36%2B-5

and got another error - Incorrect Time Format.
But, maybe  2018-05-04T12%3A10%3A36%2B-05%3A00 will work. I'll try it.
Thanks.
I think Time zone format has a strict rules it should always be +00:00, or -03:00, you must include all four numbers.

I tried 2018-05-04T12%3A10%3A36%2B-05%3A00 but got  Incorrect Time Format. Maybe I get this error, because I have zero balances in Huobi. Sad
Wierd. Maybe you already find solution? because in google there is no answers at all.

60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on Zencash and Bitcoin Gold, punishing the resistance? on: June 04, 2018, 07:42:28 PM
Could you please explain how eliminating ASICS eliminates 51% attacks, I just don't get it from what I read. All cryptos which runs on GPU/CPU mining, will wanish from crypto space because of 51% attacks, because it's so damn easy to make those attacks when we have Nicehash.
