I think eradicating them from the Announcement section made sense. It was crazy. I participated, and it was even fun to a point, but crazy.

I was even one asking in meta about trying to sort through threads.

I think adding a sub-forum makes the most sense. Just label it "here there go dragons" and disable the report button there. Don't offer support or mediation. You still get the traffic.

Or dump altcoin altogether and linking offsite to someone willing to put up with it.

It will be funny if enough enemies are made that an altcoin (is Lightcoin considered an AltCoin?) overtakes BitCoin.

Don't be a Whig, LaserDisc, BetaMAX or RIPScript (challenge: which references do you get?) in this political battle. You had almost worthless coins noone respected once.

In the end it's your site, and as big as it is, your power to wield.

Those complaining about AltCoin spam probably look at unread threads forum-wide or something like that (I do). Everything on that page was giveaways.

Hopefully your new forum software addresses things like this so people can put blinders on forums. After all, not everyone cares about politics either.

Sounds like Whigs complaining about Republicans.

In the forums you can see when the most recent posts were made within the thread, but I think it would be useful to see when the thread itself was made (or even sort by it).

This way you can see threads that are new but have few replies, new but "on fire".

The current way newer threads get buried by very active, but older threads that get bumped constantly.

Also...

Perhaps it would help to sell sticky threads, especially in the AltCoin announcements. But charge enough to make it worth your time - AND have some standards.

Perhaps that would discourage copy-pasta coins.

I've been programming for 30 years - and have taught math in elementary school - what I stated is (albeit incredibly simple) Algebra.

Algebra is math with non-numeric objects. j in the for look is a non-numeric object. j=j+1 (represented with j++) is math.

I have tried similar requests with LiteCoin, DogeCoin, and for giggles, PotCoin, but the "cors=true" doesn't work.

Why is this useful?

Enabling CORS allows webpages to query information about an address client-side and not require a middle man to proxy.

For example, if www.example.com had a page that is willing to display transaction info, balance, stats, etc.

With CORS, this can be accomplished via Javascript in the webbrowser without problems.

Without CORS, this requires using something like www.example.com/q/getreceivedbyaddress/1DsxV1WuVsFs5r4RKJD3WgMSAtbkixfSwy , which the website then either uses their local blockchain or calls the API / ABE from the server-side.

Although it would leave me out, many boards I have been on also limit what boards you can post in, but not in a "jail" type scenario as it was here.

For example,

reply-only, no new threads - newbie
post new threads - must be Jr. Member (except for buy/sell boards, reply-only)
anything transactional - must be Member (post in buy/sell boards)
Exclusive boards - must be above Member

The board (and Reddit) has "Karma", and I saw where people trade their Karma for coin via a conversion. I got to thinking about whether a plugin for board software could be created to award "coins" like "Karma" is now, but somehow the distributed portion of this breaks down.

For example, you have boards like NamePros.com (discussion about domain name speculation). The current value of an "NP$" (earned through posting, clicking links, etc.) is $0.014

Would a plugin for SMF or vBulletin (etc.) to either allow local "Karma" to be converted to BTC, or have the karma be a coin in and of itself that can be on exchanges?
