2. Spend some BTC on things you were already going to buy and make sure to buy back with the cash you otherwise would have spent on the product you purchased.
Fully agreed. Enough places accept Bitcoin now where we can all start shifting our default online purchase currency over to Bitcoin. It helps Bitcoin in many ways that I doubt I have to list for you fine folk.

Hooke it up with a new tablet! Samsung, please.

We're still in the early stages of acceptance and adoption. Of course the SEC is going to slander it. Over the coming years we'll watch, and actively promote, the growth of Bitcoin (and perhaps an altcoin or two) as an actually currency (not a commodity).
It's going to be a fun ride.

Amazon won't be interested in accepting Bitcoin until it's clearly costing them customers. Check this out - a month ago the Amazon's head of payments said it's in demand. Do you think a month has changed that? http://time.com/63376/amazon-bitcoin/I think that's what the OP had in mind, encouraging readers to contact Amazon to inquire about Bitcoin payment. True, but as others have mentioned there have been petitions and email campaigns before. I'm not saying we stop, just pointing out they're looking for a little more than a fringe percentile of their customers demanding Bitcoin. I used to work at a major tech company and they wouldn't consider making even a tiny change unless there was an overwhelming demand for it. Let's keep trying, but let's also be reasonable. Harassing smaller companies into accepting Bitcoin would probably be more effective at promoting overall Bitcoin commerce.

That was strangely satisfying. I've always wondered what it'd be like to take acid and buy Bitcoin. Now I know.

Really good directory. Also its nice idea not to place third party ads - instead add your affiliate link for those ALTcoin project that have affiliate programs.
Thank you! We're definitely not doing any paid ads to keep things fair for the businesses we're listing. While we might do a footer ad or two in the future, we want people to have a nice browsing experience!

We offer a directory of businesses that accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and more. Our mission is to promote the use of crytpo coins as currency. We also strive to promote merchant acceptance of Bitcoin to help establish stability. Every business in our directory has been hand selected. No bots and no scripts. We verify that they do in fact accept crypto coins and that they're an active business. Coinsert is completely bootstrapped and free from investor demands. Please help us stay that way by spreading the word about Coinsert. We don't have funds for paid promotions, so we're hoping for some grassroots support. Our social profiles: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Real_CoinsertFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/OfficialCoinsertYou can also help us tremendously by submitting businesses that accept any crypto coins. We're always looking to grow and expand our database. We're driven by the vision of a world where Bitcoin and altcoins are commonly accepted. Help us make that vision a reality. Thank you for your time, The Coinsert Team P.S. For those who like to donate, the address is 18P9X7cA7oPzr6ijC14q2AaMMku8qYLJAE.

My question is why does this matter?

You can always try to find someone on localbitcoins.com for paypal.
I'll vouch for Local Bitcoins. I've used them dozens of times to buy and the people who sell are reliable and responsive.

It's just a matter of education. No, I don't mean college or universities. Most people just don't know what Bitcoin is! We need more education based materials that are easy to understand by random people.

I believe long confirmation times are the biggest detriment to the adoption of Bitcoin. The few times I've bought something with Bitcoin, I was mildly annoyed by the confirmation timeframe. I hope that POS bitcoin-based systems have some way to bypass this. Maybe they already do and I just don't know about it. It stands to reason that a big service, like Bitpay, could allow for approval of a customer before a confirmation on smaller purchases.

Because the government does not understand Bitcoin, so response is slow. The government is afraid of doing something wrong, so also more conservative.
I doubt any government is going to embrace Bitcoin. It's the people who need to embrace it. We're talking about a currency that entirely bypasses the strict and rigid systems China (and other governments) have setup to control their currency. As individual adoption starts thriving, then the governments will do something to earn tax revenue from it (probably by taxing exchanges heavily). Point is, don't hold your breath for major government adoption. My only hope is for adoption in developing countries where there is no stable currency. That's what will be most powerful in the long run. Lao and Cambodia both have a population with access to the internet and smartphones, yet their economy is a mix of THB/USD and their local unstable currency.

Doesn't matter who bans what. People who wish to use Bitcoin will find a way to connect with others. I just returned from Thailand (allegedly banned) and I had no problems using Local Bitcoins to buy and sell.

You are dead on with this essay. Most people who care and understand cryptocurrencies know that being mocked by the system is actually a good thing.

I know nobody here is a lawyer (unless you are, then perfect).
Is it legal for me to have a US based site that promotes various BTC based gambling sites? My business partner thinks no, I'm just unsure. Thoughts?
