Hi,

Thanks. What is your public address from the windows wallet. I'll try to send you 10 IXC to see if mine works.

Friction,

Who changed the logos on the website?

Did we not vote on the best logos, why are they altered or not being displayed?  Who's the rebel?

The logo at the top looks way too big.  And all the logos look odd without the circle (you know, like the coins we voted for, circles like a coin since this is a digital coin) and the top colors and coins voted on are not all displayed.

It would be nice if we voted on something that it would show in the end product.

Cause the way you had it done, friction, it looked nicer except for the stretched logo at the top.

I hate to bitch at people pitching in but we do have to all be on the same page here and it's clear as to what logos are preferred by all the people here.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm limited on time today however I noticed your comments and visited the site. Whilst I agree that voting has not yet finished and there are website designs pending, having those logos on there isn't hurting it and if anything just gave it a face lift until the community has finalised the to do list. It's a good starting point and gives an example of how attractive and appealing that symbol and logo is. No harm done. The end logo will likely be 23 unless a really attractive website is built for 12 that gives it justice.

Your comments regarding the reddit forum are noted. I also noticed that in four days the following link has been viewed 158 times.

Did the ixcoin.co site get updated? I see the new logo's up on there, but it's fairly ugly as of now. I'd much prefer the new versions that newflash posted up (with the clear backgrounds). And someone please do something about the ugly stretched logo up on the top left.

I'm willing to give access to folks so they can tweak the website.

Who wants access?

Lukeconnell? Are you ready to start the show?

Hello. There is no need to rush as iXcoin is already on exchanges and available to be traded. If iXcoin is to be setup as a professional alternative to Bitcoin it will require time to become the brother of Bitcoin so to speak therefore if it takes two weeks or more so be it. Don't be concerned about all these new coins as they are all just short term speculative bubbles similar to stock IPO's on their first few days or weeks when the market buys in each time they are released with the purpose to sell at a higher price within a short period of time. iXcoin doesn't have that issue.

I've offered to cover the cost of designing a logo and a website and to facilitate the voting.

I had offered to use a third party service which would have had hundreds of designers submit their concepts for the logo however the community on here appears to have their eyes set on using a specific design. I'm fine with this because logo 23 (whichever colour) and logo 12 are both suitable options for the brand.

I will personally come up with a number of web design concepts over the weekend for voting and if none of those are suitable I'll use a third party service to encourage many different designs from designers around the world which we would then be able to review and vote on.

I have existing work commitments therefore the weekend is best for me to put time aside.

There appears to be a very small but active community for iXcoin and I suspect a rush from some in the community to get something up fast to make a quick exit or to drive the price up and secure a quick profit. I'm focused on helping iXcoin become a real alternative.

iXcoin will have one thing almost all the altcoin's don't have aside from Dogecoin and that's access to global media agencies and news outlets. I believe the focus should be on producing a quality, professional and stable website along with windows, linux, android and iOS wallet applications.

Good night for now.

Regards, Luke.

Hi.

I will reduce the voting deadline by 7 days however I believe it is important that we allow sufficient time for more ixcoin holders/supports than the 5 or 6 who voted already before a final decision is made.

Unfortunately the voting site doesn't allow you to change your vote. https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvk

I believe the 3 options most suitable towards a re-brand are images 1; 12 and 23.

1 - Will lead towards a technological website layout. It won't be eye catching however it will look smart and sharp. It would be suitable if the target market was only gamers/IT enthusiasts.

12 - This is very retro, eye catching and would lead towards a very colourful website with strong red and yellow/gold themes.

23 - This is strong, simplistic and leads towards a clean minimalist website design. This image is symbolic and easily transferable to other website designs and promotional products so much so it looks like something from a clothing brand.

I'm personally leaning towards 12 or 23. Please reply to this post with your preferred images.

@Luke,

What kind of investment business do you own?

What do you know of ETFs?  I've said since day one that bitcoin will get the public ETF and that will change everything.  So what's the natural next step then?

Crypto-ETF 2.0.  This is one big reason I felt big banks and Wall Street would come into iXcoin.  It would be a synch to license iXcoin once Bitcoin gets the ETF because ixcoin is so close to BTC and it has been time tested whereas most alts would get denied on the unknown factor of an unproven technology since every clone is different enough to fail.

So my longer term plan is to apply for an ETF license for iXcoin which I feel firmly I can get [presuming Bitcoin is given one].  I've already been in contact with a banker and I am told it's gonna cost just over $1 million for the application process [with no guarantee of course].

I'm obviously broke and looking for a decent job but if iXcoin hits my short term [90 days] target of ~$10 then I think I will have the money and I would go ahead with the license application.

Since you own an investment business I thought this may be of interest to you.  As I'm sure you know, a competing Crypto [IXC] ETF would take iXcoin to new heights, $1,000 would be a near guarantee so that ETF application is a must do if Bitcoin is given that license the way I'm certain they will.

It's a private holdings company. I'm aware of exchange traded funds however I believe that their involvement would be counter productive to iXcoin. It would hinder the coins ability serve low value eCommerce transactions and the remittance market.

I think an ETF for Bitcoin or a basket of Cryptocurrencies  towards Q4 of 2014 onwards would be great.

Hashrate right now? Crazy.

Bitcoin   282677   2,193,847,870.1743   13,191,506.7967
Devcoin   123576   1,238,453,165.9452   11,450,874.3893
I0coin   1026222   46,371,872.5781   2,309,768.6057
Ixcoin   186152   997,016,367.4480   11,300,125.1588
Namecoin   159192   1,546,423,251.7463   11,954,510.1583

Are those numbers reflecting that around 45% of total mining power for Bitcoin is being invested into iXcoin?

@Luke,

I posted this on your reddit thread but I also wanted to post it here too since we get a lot of newbies and regulars who come here.

----------------------

My kids finally [went to bed] and let me read this stuff in peace so I was able to think about it more clearly.

One word:  BRILLIANT!

I've said that to Frictionless a few times and let me tell you, I rarely say it so I truly mean it.

Your plan is straight Business: Marketing textbook [which is why I was curious of your background and education].  Very nicely done and very professional!

The only objection I have is the name change but if you could truly sell me on a new name then I can almost guarantee you I can sell the majority but let me warn you, it would take a lot to make me agree to a name change.

I've done a lot of research on this name and it's symbolic on so many levels and on top of that I think it's a good name and very unique and it's the original coin name so you have a lot to overcome with a new name.

I look forward to seeing what you want to do next.  Like Friction, I'm sure you'll really surprise us in a very positive way.  We're very fortunate to have guys like you on our development team.

Thanks and God bless!

Hi,

Thanks for your welcoming words. Do you have a first name?

Whilst I believe a name change is beneficial I respect that there is an existing community attached to it who don't feel the need to change the name. I don't have sufficient time to expel energy into something I'm unlikely to get over the line therefore I hope we can achieve a compromise and have an official name such as the Internet eXchange Coin or Internet eXchange Currency (iXcoin). It gives the iX meaning and can link to a mission or purpose of being a freely exchangeable cryptocurrency.

Regards, Luke.

@lukeconnell,

Welcome.

Can you give us your background?  Interests?  Education?

And finally, your long term goals for iXcoin?

I have posted all this info of myself [and pics, lol] so don't feel odd about sharing.  Normally we don't ask but you came in like a whirlwind so naturally there's gonna be more questions.

Thanks again!

Hi,

I'm an office worker who also has an investment business on the side. My interests include Philosophy, Science, Economics, International Affairs and Technology. I enjoy going to restaurants or cafes, reading non fiction and playing tennis in my spare time unless its winter in which case I prefer to stay inside. I'm self educated having left school at a young age, hold a solid job and have an above average income.

I hope that provides you with a sufficient background. In this environment where most people don't use their real identities I think the fact I use my real name should be more than enough to show good intention. Ultimately, I get enjoyment out of seeing an idea grow into something tangible that serves a purpose and makes peoples lives a little easier and evens up the scales. I think cryptocurrency will be a positive impact on humanity over the longer term.

Do you have a link to the post you mentioned whereby you share your background, education and interests?

Cheers.

Regards, Luke.

Hello,

Luke here. I'm the person who wrote the Post "Reshaping and Re-branding iXcoin (Code named: Project Evolutio) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=432578.msg4742632#msg4742632. I've read the history of this TODO thread and appreciate the feedback and exchange of ideas which have resulted from my original post

I like the concept of cryptocurrency and have been researching it for a while. It was iXcoin that caught my interest and therefore I decided to share my thoughts in the above post.

The post is not part of an attempt to "hijack" iXcoin and was merely a way for me to share my thoughts openly with the broader community. The voting on Tricider https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvk is an opportunity for the community to share their suggestions and exchange thoughts in a clean designated discussion environment purpose built to share an idea, gain feedback and conduct a vote by users from the wider community without them having to sift through many discussion threads on a forum such as this.

Whilst anyone can clone Bitcoin, iXcoin has been established long enough to build a community of users and supporters who already hold the currency and I believe it has lots of potential to act as the primary cryptocurrency for certain eCommerce, Money Transfer and Fund-raising sectors.

I'm glad that I was invited to this thread to meet the community and those leading efforts to improve iXcoin. I am eager to discuss and explore options to help reshape and re-brand iXcoin into a leading cryptocurrency that operates alongside Bitcoin.

Regards, Luke.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Reshaping and Rebranding the iXcoin on: January 26, 2014, 03:12:06 AM
      Hi everyone,

I've been considering the feasibility of re-branding the iXcoin. Code named: Project Evolutio

Here are some bullet points as to why I believe this is worthwhile:

    WHY CREATE A NEW BRAND?
    • There are now more than 80 altcoins in existence and many more being added every month.
    • The name iXcoin doesn't link to any purpose, principle or ideal and therefore won't resonate with the market. It doesn't evoke a feeling of shared emotion or belief.
    • Why bother creating a new altcoin when the iXcoin platform can provide an existing time proven foundation with existing supporter and user bases.
    • The iXcoin supply limit of 21 million will have been generated by 2015 thereby providing a full currency supply to e-commerce markets at a time when cryptocurrency begins achieving significant adoption by merchants and the general public.
    • Bitcoin will likely become a quasi-reserve currency of all virtual and cryptocurrencies due to its investment driven focus resulting in a valuation hindering its use as a transactional platform by the mass market.
    • The newly re-branded cryptocurrency formerly known as iXcoin would serve as a reliable, secure, stable and professional option targeted towards e-commerce, financial securities and global remittance markets with an emphasis on flexibility and mobility.
*(A remittance is a transfer of money by a foreign worker to an individual in his or her home country.)
    • The World Bank estimates that global remittances totalled $550 billion in 2013, of which $414 billion went to developing countries, involving some 232 million migrants or 3.0% of world population.
    - In 4Q 2013, the Global Average total cost of sending remittances currently stands at 8.58 percent.

    WHAT WOULD CHANGE?

    • Change the name from iXcoin to one which will resonate with the general public.
    • Establish a not-for profit foundation to drive development, represent the community and act as a social enterprise.
    • Create website outlining the new brand, mission, philosophy and intended functionality which includes exchange functionality for easy transfer between existing cryptocurrencies.
    • Finalise the implementation of Colored Coins and Smart Contracts.  This allows for more complicated financial protocols such as shares, options, futures, bonds and smart properties.
    • A new PC based client and wallet for Windows
    • PC based client and wallets for Linux and Apple OS X.
    • Mobile based clients and wallets for Android and iOS.
    • An SMS wallet and transfer service making the platform available to developing countries.

HOW WOULD THE RESHAPING OF IXCOIN BE ACHIEVED?

I will cover the costs associated with services to facilitate voting, logo and website designs.

    Stage 1 - The Foundations....

Make suggestions and Vote here: https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvk

    • An invitation will be issued to the wider community for suggestions on the new name and voting will be open for a period of 2 weeks. The name with the most votes will be selected. Voting will be facilitated by Trycider at https://tricider.com
    • An invitation will be issued to the wider community for suggestions on the mission statement and founding principles.

    Stage 2) The Brand....

    • Invitations will be issued for a logo and website design. Suggestions will be in the form of mock design images. This will be facilitated by DesignCrowd at http://www.designcrowd.com . The community will be able to vote on their preferred design.

    Stage 3) The Community...

    • To foster a strong and vibrant community a Facebook , Twitter and Google+ presence will be established to help promote the new platform and encourage collaboration.

    Stage 4) Development...

    • Development of the website through Github collaboration.
    • Development will begin on the new mobile and PC based clients through Github collaboration.

Stage 5) Launch of the new website, brand and services

Stage 6) Press Release issued to media agencies and news bureau's.[/list][/list]
