Hi everyone,
I've been considering the feasibility of re-branding the iXcoin. Code named: Project Evolutio
Here are some bullet points as to why I believe this is worthwhile:
WHY CREATE A NEW BRAND?- There are now more than 80 altcoins in existence and many more being added every month.
- The name iXcoin doesn't link to any purpose, principle or ideal and therefore won't resonate with the market. It doesn't evoke a feeling of shared emotion or belief.
- Why bother creating a new altcoin when the iXcoin platform can provide an existing time proven foundation with existing supporter and user bases.
- The iXcoin supply limit of 21 million will have been generated by 2015 thereby providing a full currency supply to e-commerce markets at a time when cryptocurrency begins achieving significant adoption by merchants and the general public.
- Bitcoin will likely become a quasi-reserve currency of all virtual and cryptocurrencies due to its investment driven focus resulting in a valuation hindering its use as a transactional platform by the mass market.
- The newly re-branded cryptocurrency formerly known as iXcoin would serve as a reliable, secure, stable and professional option targeted towards e-commerce, financial securities and global remittance markets with an emphasis on flexibility and mobility.
*(A remittance is a transfer of money by a foreign worker to an individual in his or her home country.) - The World Bank estimates that global remittances totalled $550 billion in 2013, of which $414 billion went to developing countries, involving some 232 million migrants or 3.0% of world population.
- In 4Q 2013, the Global Average total cost of sending remittances currently stands at 8.58 percent. WHAT WOULD CHANGE?- Change the name from iXcoin to one which will resonate with the general public.
- Establish a not-for profit foundation to drive development, represent the community and act as a social enterprise.
- Create website outlining the new brand, mission, philosophy and intended functionality which includes exchange functionality for easy transfer between existing cryptocurrencies.
- Finalise the implementation of Colored Coins and Smart Contracts. This allows for more complicated financial protocols such as shares, options, futures, bonds and smart properties.
- A new PC based client and wallet for Windows
- PC based client and wallets for Linux and Apple OS X.
- Mobile based clients and wallets for Android and iOS.
- An SMS wallet and transfer service making the platform available to developing countries.
HOW WOULD THE RESHAPING OF IXCOIN BE ACHIEVED?I will cover the costs associated with services to facilitate voting, logo and website designs. Stage 1 - The Foundations.... Make suggestions and Vote here: https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvk- An invitation will be issued to the wider community for suggestions on the new name and voting will be open for a period of 2 weeks. The name with the most votes will be selected. Voting will be facilitated by Trycider at https://tricider.com
- An invitation will be issued to the wider community for suggestions on the mission statement and founding principles.
Stage 2) The Brand.... - Invitations will be issued for a logo and website design. Suggestions will be in the form of mock design images. This will be facilitated by DesignCrowd at http://www.designcrowd.com . The community will be able to vote on their preferred design.
Stage 3) The Community... - To foster a strong and vibrant community a Facebook , Twitter and Google+ presence will be established to help promote the new platform and encourage collaboration.
Stage 4) Development... - Development of the website through Github collaboration.
- Development will begin on the new mobile and PC based clients through Github collaboration.
Stage 5) Launch of the new website, brand and services Stage 6) Press Release issued to media agencies and news bureau's.

The reshaping yes, but not the rebranding. We need to keep the same name and the same protocol.

We are already making steady progress to refresh the brand. Here is the latest coin design: Compare that to the old: Now in terms of the message, then I would like to hear suggestions. I don't think there is a need to change the name. Any name can work, it just how you deliver the message.

Ok, Luke Connell.
You have captured my attention.
I like your style, you plan everything, as it's supposed to be.
Let's see how the new plan works.
Sorry we rushed in taking decisions, but you are trying to change direction to a train in motion, slow motion ok. In order to get a successful plan, you have to create an alternative "railroad" for this "train", leading the coin to a better landscape, convincing everybody that it's best direction to take.
At the moment my thumb is up.
I am really curious to know how you are going to succeed. Anyway, I admire your courage and determination.

Reshaping OK
Rebranding: unless you have the means to transform iXc in another "Dogecoin" (effective marketing), it's a NO for me

What happens to the massive premine that Thomas N. aka Old Miner did?
Does it go away in the re-brand?
~BCX~
Disclosure: I currently hold over 200,000 ixc from the 2011 days.
According to Thomas, that pre-mine was 500,000 ixc where half of it was spent on bounties and servers. From the technical perspective, there's now way you can actually remove it.

I would ask LukeConnell to remove the vote of Nasakioto from here https://tricider.com/en/multiBrainstorming/CNvkUntil he doesn't pay the promised bounties, he has no right to vote for the future of iXc. SORRY, My mistake, the vote there is Nakasioto, not Nasakioto. It smells, anyway...

You have 200,000 IXC! Would you like to contribute to the development fund?

Lol, let's not start deleting votes, it's obviously a joke unless you think Satoshi came out of hiding to vote for iXcoin. Lol.

Yeah, he's never here and so far we've had to pay for the work he said he'd pay for. I really don't understand his interest in IXC given he's never around.

2.5% was not massive and even if it were, how do we get it from the weasel if he's gone? My guess is he spent it long ago. At least it wasn't more than 2.5%. Many more iXcoins than that have been lost over the years so we're pretty even, except the weasel got a free ride.

Have you any useful skill? Let LukeConnell and Frictionlesscoin know about it. Even promotion on forums could be effective, or just the selling of ixcoins on ebay uk.

This is a BAD idea, and we shouldn't do it. Just saying that it's possible. Also, forget about an iOS app. Hi, Thanks for your suggestion and feedback. I've taken it on board. Regards, Luke.
