41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]! Internet band & coin. Musicians! (We were on TV!) on: March 30, 2014, 05:35:30 AM
Soundposition had such an awesome idea (don't know why we haven't thought about it yet). Let's hold an internet hangout show where we play songs, talk music, talk shit and hang out?

That is a great idea.  I did a bit of marketing tonight on fb with some musician friends.  It will be interesting to see the results.  I have a really good friend who is a concert promoter here in the US and he likes the concept and will help out.  He works with a lot of big names, but he also knows a lot of local and less famous musicians.  Aside from spreading the word in obvious ways, does anyone have any good ideas for me to approach him with?  It's a bit premature, but the thought of a music festival comes to mind first.  Obviously after better name recognition for Cypherfunks.

Thanks for the work on the Wallet, Simon.  I'll give some buy support tomorrow.  Too damn tired to move stuff around right now.  I moved out of CR due to the uncertainty, but it looks okay now.  I'll try and get you some BTC as well.  I exchanged all my BTC for USD recently.  I'm having a bitch of a time buying back in because I can't find my Social Security card.  PIA.

dumps come from rumors that China Gov will shut down exchanges.

That is the bane of current down spiral.

If it is confirmed, all alt coins will suffer.

Any idea of the likelihood of that?  Would the exchange operators be able to operate offshore through different servers?  And buyers and sellers as well?  I know it might be a PIA, but I don't think governments will be able to stop crypto, at least not in the long term.  Although the US is making it a PIA through tax consequences.  At least they think. Any good accountant or tax lawyer (like me) can turn mining into a loss pretty quick.  Personally, I'm just not going to use US exchanges if they are required to start reporting to the IRS.  I'm personally not going through the hassle of setting up a business just for tax purposes.  Although the losses my help my overall tax situation.  I'll have to think about that one.  The self-employment taxes might not make it worthwhile.  What would make sense is a large group of individuals getting together and forming a mining corporation.  Profits would be based on user input, deductions would be great, and no self-employment taxes.  The only taxes would be capital gains, either short term (less than one year), or long term (more than one year).  Either rate has far less tax consequences than normal income (e.g. employment).  The deductions from equipment and electricity costs could be used to create quite a loss for the first year (on paper), then that loss could be carried forward to offset earnings from the next year.  The IRS basically just created a lot of work for accountants and lawyers, while gaining no income, except from people who are unfamiliar with proper tax avoidance business formation.  Which is probably most miners, unfortunately.

Alright, well this sucks. I just now noticed that my 20mhash on cryptopools.eu is on the wrong fork according to you guys in this thread. Which is the best scrypt pool to switch over to?

http://myr.coinsprofit.com/  I moved here about 8 hours and everything is ok.

Actually I think I'm going to join stablehash. They have 40mh vs. coinsprofit's 125mh, so adding my 20mh would be healthier on stablehash. Thanks though!

Yeah, but 1% fee, 1% mandatory donation, and 0.1 TX fee?  I'm bleeding from every orifice.  If it's a mandatory donation, then is it really a donation?  Kinda like when I get "voluntold" by my wife.  Am I really volunteering?  Compare costs before you jump into a pool, they add up over time.

There might be a difference between mandatory donation and donations enabled at sign-up. I was just able to disable the 1% donation...

Very nice!  What the hell are you doing over here?  Aren't we supposed to be working on FUNK?

I'm on vacation for 5 more days ^_^. Meanwhile I'm mining Myriad because I completely believe in it, but I was also buying up a bunch of FUNK when Cryptorush was still operating. Don't worry, I fully support Funk too and when I get back from vacation I will have more time to help the infrastructure. Right now I'm just mining and commenting on threads Smiley

I was just joking around.  Enjoy your vacation.  In other words, get of these damn forums and go have some fun.  I like MYR too, but I mined it all night and morning before I got on here and realized I was mining on a fork.  5000+ down the crapper.  I take it back, maybe you should skip the fun and stay glued to the forums!

So, ahhh, what gives with the wallet?  It keeps getting stuck at different points when I close and restart.  I just dl it today and haven't been able to get it to fully sync.  Here is my conf.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Maybe it's just me, but the only working pool I can find is hashfever.  Anyone know what happened to all the P2P pools?

is the main one not running properly? let me know!

No it's working.  It was my pc, not the pools.  I've thrown a bit at it occasionally, but no blocks.  I didn't try for very long though.

Looks like coinsprofit is down.  I've wasted enough time on this coin for a while.  Between this and Cryptorush, it's been a really bad week for me.  I think I'll turn my miners off.  Maybe then I'll at least break even.

It's working ... and quite good mate Smiley Sometimes the front is out but the stratum working

Okay, I was able to log in again.  And it's paying out so it looks like it's on the right fork.  Thanks.

I only meant spread the word about the fork.  It's obviously not a scam.  However, 129 people are still mining there and they are still on the wrong fork.  What, 18 hours now?

i mined all night at myr.cryptopool.eu, they are not paying out.  WTF?

They are on a fork for the last 16 hours, they are a joke.

I will definitely spread the word about them.

Well Cryptorush is working atm, although very slow.  I was able to make withdrawals.  I've been reading bad things about them all day.  Anyone know if they are trustworthy?

As for changing algo's, it seems like any change would be just putting off the inevitable.  I can't get scrypt-N to work with any of my mining rigs.  I've read that I need to have 4 gb ram, but I only use 1 gb because it's not necessary with scrypt.  I may give it another try, but after a few hours I said screw it.  I really like Blake-256.  It's super fast and I think it's Asic resistant.  I'm sure it would be a PIA to change to it though.  If there were to be a change, I guess I would say do it now so only a few people are affected.  I would sure hate to lose all my FUNK though Angry

From what I'm reading, Cryptorush is gone for good.  Even if it were to somehow come back for a bit, I will be withdrawing everything as quickly as possible.  So we definitely need a new exchange.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]! Internet band & coin. Musicians! (on RSA national news) on: March 25, 2014, 03:49:45 PM
Yes, Cryptorush had barely been working for two days.  Really slow.  Then last night and today it's down due to a hack.  I have a lot of everything there, including BTC, LTC, and about 20 million FUNK. Hopefully they get it working soon.  Otherwise, I've had good experiences with them.

I've been impressed with Mintpal also, but I haven't traded there in a few days.  Atomic Trade is very good, but newer so not many trading pairs.  Some well respected devs I know are friends with the owners so seems trustworthy.

There is also a new exchange in the works here in the US being put together by some devs.  I can't remember the name right now, but I'll post it later.

So MPOS.CGA.anaomolypool finally paid out to my MuCoWa address, but now MuCoWa will not sync when I add my backed up wallet with that address back to it after reinstalling.  I know the address the cga was sent too, but I don't know of any way to put that address into a working wallet.  Anyone know how to do this, or did I lose my cga?  BTW, these cga were mined in the last few weeks and should not have been affected by the fork.  I am also using the latest cga wallet which is working fine.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒[CGA] Cryptographic Anomaly - The Elusive Coin⚒ on: March 23, 2014, 01:33:41 AM
Anyone know how to reach anyone at mpos.cg.anomolypool?  I need to cancel my cashout request because the MuCoWa address I was using no longer exists.  They haven't paid out yet, so I'm hoping to change the address before they do.  I can't find any contact info on the site.

I believe the owner has already gone to bed or is with his family for tonight, since it's around 9:30PM where he is. I will make sure that he knows about this as soon as he wakes up and I see him on IRC.

Hey thanks.  I think I figured it all out.  I got the MuCoWa to sync but I thought I deleted the address on file at the pool.  I found a backup and retrieved the address.  So I should now receive the CGA when they pay out.  Obviously they are dealing with some issues right now, but when they do pay out, it should work.  I also got the CGA wallet working by following the instructions posted above.  Thanks to everyone for their help.

So I cashed out of cga.anomolypool to a MuCoWa wallet address today before I found out about the fork.  The MuCoWa wallet is stuck while syncing.  Any idea how to get it working?

I'm working on getting the newest Windows CGA wallet to sync as well, hoping it will finally sync.  It keeps getting stuck as well.  I'm following the forum advice, so we will see.  I have never used the MuCoWa before.  Is it possible to delete the bc and start over using different nodes.

I'm not a coder or crypto expert, but it might be nice if someone could upload the correct bc in a zip file to help everyone get synced.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.
